Lively, ephemera-packed Thai joint with street-market furniture and an open kitchen, plus a tuk-tuk.
Couldn’t have been happier after our last visit to Thaikhun. The atmosphere was great, the staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. We ordered a vegan mixed platter to start, then selected three dishes off the tapas selection, tofu green curry, tofu pad Thai and vegan chicken with cashew nuts stir fry, and aside of Jasmin rice. It was so delicious we also ordered a plate of the Thai basil fried rice so we had enough food to take away for the next day!The cocktail was also delicious, we ordered the mai Thai mango cocktail. Thank you to Thaikhun for a fantastic evening!
We ordered the Street Food Sharing Stack. This is our second time visiting with a couple of friends and the second time ordering this platter (just different options this time). The first time, we had planned to visit Oast House nearby, but they had a gig of some sort going and were just way too packed. We wandered into Thaikhun instead and Im so glad we did. Both visits were amazing. Last time we got the Thai garlic and black pepper beef noodles stir fry and chicken pad Thai which were great, this time got the cashew nut chicken stir fry and chicken street noodles which were even better! The winner of the day both times though, for all four of us, was hands down the chicken massaman curry. Absolutely amaaaaaaaazing!Food, staff, everything was just fab. Although they were busy, there was no compromise on service or food quality. Very impressed.
The food was pretty good but it wasnt great. It could do with more flavour. The atmosphere was really nice. The service could be better though.
You can’t go wrong with Thaikun!! The food is amazing!!Every dish tastes so so good!Only downside is it’s quite pricey and the portions small but it’s so worth it!I would definitely recommend 😊
Easily the best thai in Manchester, great portion size and fast service
Lovely authentic Thai food, as good as in Thailand itself
Food was nice and tasty, staff were friendly. All good. Maybe just help visitors hygiene by filling up the hand sanitiser in the entrance more often. All good tho
Good food, in an enjoyable, if busy restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful. Gigantic banana split on offer for dessert.
Our favourite place for pad thai.Authentic cuisine, quick and friendly service.Been there at least five times, never been disappointed.
The food had no flavour. Both dishes that my friend and I ordered literally tasted the same with no spice or Thai flair. The long island ice teas tasted like a glass of coke.Really surprised! The staff were lovely though but would never go back and I absolutely love Thai food
Had a lovely meal here with my family - husband and two older daughters. I would big up the Pad Thai and the Tom Yum, which were both really tasty, but we all enjoyed our meals. The service was warm, welcoming and fast. The virgin cocktails were particularly good. It was my daughters birthday and they brought her nice cheesecake dessert, which was a nice end to the meal. I would come here again.
Our favourite Thai restaurant. Amazing vegan options, very polite staff, the service team went above and beyond.
Good Thai food, perhaps more spicy than others Ive been to. Excellent service.
Very nice Thai restaurant in Manchester with really authentic street food taste of Bangkok. Highly recommended the Pad Sew Ew and Tom Yum soup!
Friendly staff, decent food, and lovely cocktails. The vegetarian menu was quite limited and could do with a bit more flavour. Absolutely enjoyed the fried veggie gyozas and the soy dip was lovely but the tofu fried rice could do with more flavour.
Good ambience.Good service.Good options on the menu.Liked the drinks.Food has dialled down spice levels and is maybe a tad anglicised. But definitely flavourful.Good place for a bite and a conversation
A great place to eat. When I visited with my friend it was quite busy, however for me thats a sign of great food, super efficient service and friendly staff.
Great spot in Manchester City centre to get food. Prices are reasonable and the food tastes amazing. They’re very accommodating to dietary requirements. The restaurant looks incredible, and has an outdoor seating area too. The staff are so lovely and were so patient despite myself and my group of friends being slow to order.
Tried the tiffin which consists of pad-Thai, prawn red curry, chicken basil and coconut rice. I don’t like the prawns’ crunchy texture and the curry is not spicy enough. Chicken is all breast meat which I don’t like. The pad-Thai is just right. The creamy coconut rice is the lifesaver bcoz it made all the dishes taste good when eaten together.Restaurant ambiance is fun and location was perfectly located downtown Manchester.Service staffs were pleasant.
Food was okay for the starters. Unsure of the rave reviews which enticed us to this place. Some questionable flavours/combinations. Was very unsure what the Thai fish cakes were n the starter very strange texture and flavour. I sent my mains back because whilst the noodles were hot and fresh they tasted of grease only. The chicken in the dish was stone cold likeIt had been added after batch cooking later. My friends meal of pork of them same dish had flavour and depth to the food and was the complete opposite to my dish with the only difference being chicken.
First time here! Gorgeous food. The platters are amazing on starter and mains. A little expensive but we left more than full!. Even on a busy Saturday service was quick and efficient!
Lovely ambiance and delicious food !!! Cocktails are superb!!! Can never go wrong with Thaikun
Lovely place, cool atmosphere, friendly staff and good service, however, the food was not that tasty ( sweet & sour stir fry was way too sweet and the sauce tasted like the kind you get from the shop). Portions are small as well.
Never order the comb on the menu, each dish is so small that only half the portion of this dish is ordered alone. Surprisingly, they charge the same price as the normal portion of the dish. We got a small portion when the next table got a meal a whole times larger than ours. The waiter didnt even bring us a glass of water but charged a 10% tip.
Really lovely staff and amazing tasty food! The staff was super by making sure our food was okay and asking for drinks ect. The flavours in the food was unbelievable so good ! I will definitely be running back here.
Great place, loved the food, the presentation was lovely, service was amazing, people were very polite and helpful.Prices are a bit on the high side but you pay for what you get.Recommend with no doubts and will return
Service is super and friendly. The food is authentic and so tasty. Lots of vegan options and the sharing starter is a real treat. It’s always buzzing too with a lovely atmosphere and lovely surroundings. Well worth a visit.
Amazing place, amazing food and fair price, I recommend this place.
The food was really good with a great ambience as well. We ordered their spiciest dishes (the jungle currywhich packed a good amount of heat and had a very balanced taste profile as well. I cannot comment on the authenticity of the food as I am not qualified enough for it yet but overall flavours were simply great.
Food was decent. Service was really good and the place had a good vibe.I would definitely come back - not the most amazing Thai but everything still tasted pretty good.
Lovely friendly staff...thai food is authentic and soo delicious...nom nom nom...aroi maak...they have singha pints£6 and towers for £25...recommend this place for quality food...
Such a waste of money! I paid £41 for two with 2 soft drinks (refillable), not too much food choices! What a rip off!
It was average Thai food. Nothing special, although the presentation of the food was great. It was nice to try it once, but wouldnt go again.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Really well presented and food arrived quick. Customer service is honestly the best, all of the waitresses were so attentive. The food portion was really filling and tastes amazing. Look forward to returning again!
Vegan friendly (has quite a few meals whithout meat)It came fast and the food was really good! One con I have is that I paid £4 for fried rice with eggs and it was only one small bowl of rice and a little bit of eggs inside.(Would recommend to go with normal rice)
I absolutely love this place!Ive been a couple of times. The first time I came just for cocktails, which are really nice. Theyre a bit on the expensive side because they dont have any kind of happy hour type deal, but to be honest it is more of a restaurant. They were still really nice though.Since then, Ive always gone when they have vouchers available on Manchester Confidentials. This means Ive pretty much had 50% off which is amazing, especially because the food is flawless. They have some really great vegetarian and vegan options too. The coconut rice was the best rice Ive ever had (but it is sweet so if youre not into sweet then it might not be best for you).Staff are friendly, nice atmosphere, good prices and GREAT food. Would strongly recommend.
Superb Thai food served with style and authenticity in a vibrant yet chilled atmosphere. Staff are reliable, quick, attentive and always available. A good pace to food and drink service . Perfect place to have a couples meal or a get together with friends.
A good place for friends gathering with kidsHaven’t seen my best friend in Manchester for 2 years. While I had a meeting in Manchester, it’s a chance to meet up after my work. As my friend had 2 kids now, I booked a table in @thaikhun which offering kids meal.WHAT WE HAD🌶Phuket Jay Platter for 3🥟Vege dumplings🍗Pandan chicken🐟Thai Fish Cakes🦴Chicken & Pork skewers🍝Pad Thai🍛Thai Chicken Katsu (Kids meal)🍺Singha draft beer@thaikhun kindly prepared two high chairs upon my booking request. Also, two kids menu for drawing and crayons were given. This was very important to occupy the kids so that I could chat with my friend 😂The sharing platters for 3 were actually huge and I thought it could serve 6 people😂. It included . All of them were delicious except the beef which was a bit dry. Panda chicken and fish cake were full of spice and they went extremely well with cold beer🍺My friend’s daughter was so adorable and willing to share her chicken Katsu with me😍. It was crispy but a bit dry coz chicken breast was used. But I still loved it coz it’s full of love from the little girl🥰I mainly focused on the starters and beers (every friend knew me🤣but my friend said the Pad Thai was tasty too. How’s the dumplings? I will have another post on Instagram @ccgyozalover for it😉
This place was great! Loved the interpretations of dishes! The curry was tasty, well spiced and flavoured. I love having the option of more interesting sides (coconut rice), these are interesting and make a memorable experience!
What a find !! Can honestly say probably the best Thai food I have eaten. Beautiful food, fantastic atmosphere and the staff are fantastic. The price is good too! Wont be disappointed if you chose to eat here!
Feels like we were on holiday in Thailand! Really friendly staff and food came so fast! We had some prawn crackers to start as well as Honey Moo and Thai Chicken Katsu for mains with a couple of Singha pints. So tasty we can’t wait to come back - was busy but there’s loads of space and staff
Halal chicken and duck served here. Absolutely delicious food. We ordered chicken pad Thai, Tom yum soup and salt & pepper chicken wings. Best Thai food weve had outside Thailand in a VERY long time! Fast lunch service and really polite too.
Had a great meal here a few months back. Having spent some time in Thailand I can honestly say that the food here is amazing! The flavors and quality of the food are on par, if not better than in Thailand itself. The staff were excellent and very attentive. The menu is great value for both food and drinks. Would highly recommend you try this place.
Amazingly good food! Portions were decent and fairly priced. Will definitely visit again.
We went to this restaurant on a lovely bright and sunny day for lunch. We didn’t have any reservations done so quite pleased that we could walk-in. Ordered mango cocktail which I found quite sweet. Sweetcorn cakes were nice. For the mains ordered green thai curry and vegan stirfy. Really loved the vegan dish. Think it was reasonably priced, however they include 10% service charge and £1 donation in your bill by default which felt a bit odd.
Lovely restaurant. This was our first time eating out together since the pandemic started and it was great. The restaurant was well organised and clean. The food was amazing. Great cocktail options, but I found it a bit lacking on beers.Really great selection on Thai food. We all completely cleared our plates. The staff were friendly, however felt like a bit of a job to get them to come over and take dessert orders and give us the bill. But besides that its good.
Expensive and the food were terrible. We ordered the set meal for £15.50 per person. 4 of them were ordered. The starters were ok, but the main meals were terrible. Two of the dishes we ordered chicken. What chicken? Both dishes had around 5 very small bites of chicken, the dishes itself were small. If the set meal was £5 per person then thats more like the price for what you get. Ive had better Thai food before in Manchester. Thaikhun is a definite no go, unless you want to be disappointed
Best thai food restaurant so far. They cooked the dishes very nice. I had green curry, taste great but its just too sweet for me. I asked for chili powder and taste better. Had squid and chicken dishes as well. Everything tastes great. The place looks really nice. Dessert has been served very well.
The food here is SO good. First ordered it twice on Deliveroo then went to the restaurant itself. Decor is very interesting and pleasant and the food is just superb. Highly recommended if in the area! Reasonably priced for the portion sizes and quality of food.
Really enjoyed my visit to Thaikhun!Came here for a work team meal and started off with the Bangkok and Atchara Platters. The food came quite quickly, was piping hot and fresh. The satay sauce was divine, and the sweetcorn cakes were delicious! For main I had a Thai Green Curry with egg fried rice, and I must say it was the right amount of spicy (medium), with tender chicken.I also had two Mocktails (Stay Up Late and Down To Earthand they were both great! The venue vibe is relaxed, the staff were lovely and provided quick service. All in all, Id strongly recommend and I shall be back to try one of the desserts from the menu! 😊
