Pad Thai, spring rolls & Tom Yum soup are among the offerings at this basic, casual eatery.
Authentic same great taste every time. Pad Thai is on point.
Solid neighborhood spot, I live nearby and end up going here at least once a week (if not more.Theyve got a great lunch special where you can get two half orders of two different things for the price of one.Unlike a lot of Thai places in Seattle their noodles arent overcooked and have phenomenal texture, highly recommend their pad kee mao or pad see ew.Service is really fast and always friendly.
Was surprised to see this popped up as halal when I searched for Thai food in the area. But it didn’t show up when I specifically typed in halal, which was weird. We had the Tom Kha (mine, and it is one of the few Tom Kha that tasted good here in the US), Red Curry, Basil Fried Rice and Masamman. All were great! Spice level 3 (1 to 5is just nice for us. Great value for money too. They had a few items that we ordered that were not in stock though.
Very delicious food. I had the wide noodles (also called drunken noodleswith tofu. They were so delicious! I would suggest adding just a little more basil. The spices were just perfect. I highly recommend this place. The staff is also very friendly and all the meat is halal. Clean and fresh food! It is so hard to find a Thai restaurant that serves halal. Next time we come to Seattle we will definitely come here again.
This is my favorite Thai food in Seattle! The Pad Ka Prao is fantastic, perfectly spicy and seasoned. Staff was very nice too! Love it
Damn good curry, comes with two scoops of rice, perfect.
The food was absolutely amazing and the staff is super nice! I hope to come back here the next time Im in town!
Food is delicious and came out very quickly. Will be coming again
Really good Halal Thai option. I keep going back for more. Have tried most dishes and cant figure out which one to recommend all are so good.
Delicious! Great prices as well. Cant wait to eat here again.
Very fast and friendly. Excellent food!!
Amazing food! Loved the chicken pad Thai 4 spice level. The Tom Ka soup & the red curry was delicious too. Perfect amount of vegetables & meat. The noddles were so fresh. So nice to have Muslim owned business that you can keep coming back too!
I had pad Thai with tofu, tom kha soup with tofu, and Thai iced tea. The tea and pad Thai were passably good, but the tom kha was extraordinarily delicious. I don’t like places described as upscale, trendy, chic, hip, etc. I like places where it seems like real people work and eat, and this fit the bill. Kind service, simple and cozy set-up, and good food.
Sooooo good. I have not been here in a while, but dang! Pad Thai was sooo good. Fried rice was delicious as well. As good as i remember...
Ordered the lunch special and received an extremely small portion of food. I went back to the restaurant to complain about the absurdly small food portion snd was informed when you order the lunch special they reduce the portion size of food. How is that a special? It’s not your reducing the food and the price. It’s false advertising and honestly I’ll never eat again because they wouldn’t even provide me a refund. Do not go heat aside from the mediocre taste it’s just a bad deal and horrible customer service.
Their garlic stir-fry with beef was a great dish. I enjoyed it
The pad see ew lacked flavor, and it could have used more oyster sauce, more garlic, and better beef. The beef was probably overcooked.
Super yummy lunch! Great food & wonderful deals. Be sure to try the black rice pudding!
Awesome food and great staff. The owner is amazing and will make it the way you like it.... A must try if visiting the First Hill neighborhood in downtown Seattle!
Super delicious food. Not like other restaurants who add too much oil. Perfect amount of salt. Our food came out rather quickly. Will be returning here when I am in town again.
Scrumptious fresh Thai food! We ordered for takeout, and everything was ready in 20 minutes: quick and easy. My Pad Khing with chicken was absolutely amazing, and my husbands Panang with beef was delectable as well. And of course the Coconut Prawns: crunchy and delicious, they are a must have!
Ive known Omar ever since he has the Nam Phon restaurant in Northgate, the whole family loves his tasty dishes, so glad to see his restaurant picking up again.
Really good food! Have been going there for years and they never disappoint!
Excellent foodGreat serviceLoved itCan’t go wrong hereWe ordered apps soup and entree and loved it all
Absolute best Thai restaurant around! MUST GO THERE! I love it my favorite restaurant and great customer service. There’s parking along the back side. I absolutely love this place great flavors!
Really fresh ingredients. The basil fried rice is outstanding
We bought some foods and told the owner/incharged that NO spicy. He said ok so he put a note on it. He got my credit card and started to cooked. When get back home and the foods are all spicy........ gave us a little bit plus so spicy......
Halal thai food. What else can you ask for. Highly recommend the beef noodle soup, its better than any pho I have had. Massaman curry was excellent also.
Can you say halal Thai food?! Yes! They make really amazing pad see ew and pad ke mao. Love that smoky and savory flavor! The pot stickers are great too. Tom yum soup can use a update though. It was very plain.
Ordered kee mao noodles, tom kum soup, cashew beef and green curry. Everything was sooo good! 😋
My wife is at Virginia Mason for some surgery, weve been here three times in August already. We finally got around ordering dinner from Thai Star restaurant - for us it was absolutely delicious and lovely even though it was takeout. I was able to talk with the owner/chief cook and bottle washer - The very same person, what a delightful young man. Food was excellent the story compelling - support this business if you can.
Very good food. I always order the Tofu Pad Thai and Vegetarian Spring Rolls.
I ordered 4 things and they were all disappointing.- pad see ew overcooked noodles seasoning is off and bland, tofu has a very strange taste that I cant place- stir fry this was just awful weird mix of overcooked, mushy veggies and seasoning is off- iced tea sickly sweet but otherwise not bad had to add a ton of water- spring rolls very doughy and not much inside, also bland. The people there were very kind. Unfortunately the food is terrible. I have low standards for takeout, quick food but its really not good at all. I would recommend Ayutthaya down the street which is excellent.
I really love this place. Food and staff are amazing. Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is that it is a bit run down... but again I really love the food and people!!
Amazing food, kind staff, excellent service. I will be back very soon!! Their 2/5 star Cashew Chicken was delicious and I cant wait to explore more of the menu!!
I ordered Thai basil fried rice with tofu. It was pretty good. Will definitely come back.
This was not a good experience for us. While the waiter was kind, he seemed unfamiliar with. The multitasking required for the job. He forgot basics like.. Forks. One order they got wrong (gave me meat in a vegitarian order. He brought a replacement as we were finishing, which i requested we just not do since we were all done eating. ), my husband found hair in his dish, and i found a fairly large piece of plastic in mine. Food was decent, but the difficulties with the meal really disappointed us.
Fresh rolls made daily. But come early, cuz he will run out.Plum and peanut sauces, both warm.Best ever!
Kind staff. 5 levels of spices to choose from. Lots of nearby street parking if you are looking outside hours of 3-7pm. Kitchen may get overwhelmed on weeknights if they have many customers so call in your take out order ahead of time.
Update 10/03/2018: Food is still very very good. But the last visit was a little disappointing. Not once did anyone offer to fill up my water (which was empty not long after I arrived), no soup before the meal anymore, no $10 lunch special, and I asked for a 3 star dish and there was absolutely no heat to it.Quality ingredients and good prices. $10 lunch special and it comes with soup. Very good Pad See Ew and Praram Long Song.
Best Thom Kha in Seattle. Ive been looking for a duplicate since I found heaven-in-a-bowl in Phuket years ago, and I found it. 0-5 spicy rating so you can meter your sweat and made by the bowl so you can moderate the richness and amount of coconut milk. My go-to. So happy I found it.
I really enjoyed the pad Thai, I have and will be going back. On the pricier end, but you also have to take into account their location. Only thing I’d have to complain about would be that they go a little light on the chicken.EDIT:I had to drop it a star due to my last experience. The food is actually fairly expensive, and I wouldn’t say worth it’s price tag. The last time I ordered it was fairly bland, low in spice, even though I asked for a 5. It wasn’t bad, but nothing I’d rub my belly for. Also, very stingy with the chicken. Don’t know if I’ll be going back.
I had the cream cheese wontons and Thai fried rice. Just average and overpriced as such. The wontons were microwaved and had cold portions. The rice was too oily for my taste.
Thai Star is a delicious hole in the wall sort of place. Ive only been here 3 times for lunch, but every time theyve gotten my order done quickly and correctly, and the service has been great! This place seems completely packed for lunch, slightly before or after lunch hour is easier to find seating. The pad thai is perfect to my taste, and I like their pad see ew, just have to remember they do it a bit spicier than Im used to. Perfect for a quick lunch, or casual dinner.
I come here regularly given its close proximity to the hospital. Food is delicious and staff is courteous and efficient. Great place overall. I will most certainly continue to frequent this place.
Great tasting food and very quick without breaking the bank. There are some Thai restaurants who cant quite get the spiciness down, but if you order a 5/5 and you like it quite spicy, youll get both the flavor and the hotness. Only downside is they dont serve beer so you cant enjoy a nice cold Singha or Tiger with your noodles :(
Ive had some good times, with good friends over some good food at this restaurant! Gonna miss this place; it closes next week😔. If you ever re-open, do it it in Tacoma; great spaces, reasonable rents. Near JBLM; great business traffic!
Thai place with all the staple dishes youd expect, plus a specials menu. Good value for money. The service is consistently friendly and very fast. Not that many tables but I havent seen it completely full..
Great spot for lunch. ~$10.00 for a lunch special. The food was pretty good. Small location with limited seating. The food comes out relatively fast. Im not sure where I would park if I didnt work within walking distance.
Im in Seattle for a couple of weeks and I bought this today as I was in the area and let me tell you, the food was terrible. I purchased the Mongolian Beef and Spicy Seafood but barely received any meat or even seafood (about 3 shrimps with the rest of it being veggies!!!). I called the store to let him know that this is what I received and that I can bring the food in for him to look at and resolve the issue but he began by screaming at me saying Im being greedy. Furthermore, there so much water in the food box that it started to leak in the plastic bag.I loved my stay in Seattle and have had nothing but great experiences with the people and restaurants here but this one was definitely a turn off. The food was cold, I asked for spicy (level 5 - their highest levelbut received barely any spice, customer service is very poor, and if you order anything with a meat/seafood mix, you receive 90% veggies and 10% meat.I strongly urge you to visit some of the other great thai restaurants that are near by instead of this establishment. Wild Ginger is a much better option, trust me.
