Thai favorites presented in relaxed surrounds also featuring a sushi bar for inventive maki.
Was very good. Will be coming back for sure . Really enjoyed the spring rolls.
I havent been to Athens in about 20 years and decided to walk around downtown while visiting family about 30 min away. I got hungry and didnt want fast-food. I noticed the Thai Spoon and figured it would be perfect. I got the panang curry with tofu lunch special. It came with a beverage of your choice, I got hot tea. I also got a spring roll and the tom yum soup, which was delicious. My main dish was the panang curry with tofu. The spices were just the right amount. The staff was very nice and the restaurant clean. Very nice local place.
Do not go if you want real Thai food, they put a pound of sugar in their curry. And the tom yang soup tasted like they put ketchup in it. Overpriced and bad food.
Thai Spoon is the best! My boyfriend and I go often (almost weeklyand no matter who our server is or how busy/slow they are - the service is always great. Everyone is so friendly. Most recently, Sidnie was our waitress. She took great care of us and was super personable. Thanks Sidnie! The food is equally as amazing. We usually order the same entrees when we go, but even when we branch out and order something different, it never disappoints. You can’t go wrong here. (And order the Thai Dumplings as an app!)
Great service, tasty food and good portions for the price! Loved the coconut soup. Would recommend!
The best food! Perfect servings, Friendly waiter. I can’t wait to go back.
The food was delicious and the women who work there were so sweet and personable!
I ordered takeout from here and was very pleasantly surprised! At first I thought it was because I was extremely hungry… a friend later confirmed that wasn’t the case. He said this was the best Thai spot in town. And I can see why. Ordered the pineapple cashew fried rice, panang curry, vegetarian gyoza, and veggie spring rolls and the dessert was mango sticky rice. The curry wasn’t as spicy as I’d like it to be but overall, EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!!! Every bite of a different item gave the wow effect. Very good food here. Will definitely be back. The mango sticky rice has been the best I’ve had so far ever.
I love this place, it had such a cute setup and the environment is so cozy yet stylish, food is great and has always came out in a timely manner, good portions so always have some leftovers for later, overall never disappointed by this place!
Food was excellent, and the lady that waited on me was so nice and gave off great energy! Was my first time and I will be back! 10/10 recommend
This place is delicious. Ordered a bowl of Tom Yum soup and the shrimp basil rolls… it tastes like heaven people.
Weve visited a few times and the food has been good. The chicken rolls and Thai dumplings are lovely. Their dipping sauces overall seem more balanced and less icky sweet than others.Spicy Thai noodles and pineapple and cashew nut rice were on point. I do prefer a basil chicken with ground chicken over sliced, but thats just me. I also like it a little more basil forward. My husband enjoyed the Spicy Jungle Curry very much but the Green Peppercorn with Hot Chili was not our fave. The peppercorns made for a beautiful looking dish but there seemed way more of them than meat and veggies. The tables are pretty close together as theyre trying to maximize customers within the space. But as were usually showing up right before close, its not been an issue for us.
Since we moved here we have eaten here at least once a week. Either in or to go it has never disappointed. My favorite is the Yellow Curry. My family really likes the orange chicken. Staff is friendly and food is hot.
Smaller menu than some Thai places but very well done.
We’ve been to many Thai spots around. They have delicious food and the one we liked the most. Staff was really sweet too. Definitely recommend it to everyone.
Quick on to-go orders. Sidnie was especially helpful! The Thai Basil Fried Rice was amazing & the portion left plenty for a second meal.
I had the duck with tamarind sauce that came with lots of veggies, a side of rice, and it’s truly the kind of meal I dream about having again. Delicious!
A great discovery in downtown AthensFood was awesome....and lots of it
The foods was awesome! I love it
It was a nice place in mid-downtown to have thai dishes. The tom yum soup they had was super good. Spicy basil fried rice was nice too; worked well with chicken on it. The ambience was good and so were the staffs.
Food was good. The restaurant was clean. Prices were slightly high.
I have eaten here many times over the past few years. Its good, and reasonable price. Its kind of funny that today when I came to the restaurant alone at lunchtime, they literally specifically pulled the lunch special menu out in order to get me order from the entree menu maybe plus something. However, my neighbor table of 2 people got to order from the lunch special menu, with the soup and spring roll. Its kind of disappointing that they treat single customer this way.
I was recommended this place by a family member, so I took my friends to go get some take out. Best idea ever! They have never tried Thai food before, and they loved it! The Thai tea is amazing, and so is the service! Will definitely be back again when I visit athens. This is one of the top places to get Thai food in Athens!
Delicious food, fantastic options for vegetarians/those with seafood allergies
This restaurant has been here for a long time and I have enjoyed dining here each visit. It has nice ambiance, and polite staff. The portion size is good for a single person but not big enough to share. Pork dumplings were great!
Always great service and delicious food. Our go-to dishes are the Pad Thai and the Massaman curry. The curry comes with protein of choice, cashews, avocado and a side of rice. We like to get the chicken curry and ask them to add vegetables. :)
Wonderful lunch. I have had a LOT of green curry over the years and I this might be some of the best I’ve had. Excellent! Pad Thai was great and we enjoyed the fresh basil rolls (Nime chow). Will be back the next time we’re in town! Service was Aok.
The food and service here has gotten progressively worse. We loved it the first time, it was good but not great the second but the food was poorly made the third time we visited. Havent been here for over a year now, but recently a friend visiting Athens also tried this place and had the same bad experience.
A little bit on the pricier side but the portion sizes were accommodating enough. Also nice that they’re vegan/gluten free friendlyEdit: Sadly, I have to alter my review for this one. Prices have jumped and quality hasnt. Paid 18 dollars for one entree (!and received maybe half the portion that I was expecting with sparse veggies and tofu.
Curry soup has 1 tomato and lots of sliced onions. Thats not cool because normally there should be many more vegetables; red and green peppers, carrots. Pork dumplings had some gristle bites of tough meat. Wont be returning.
I came here with some friends for the second time today. The first time we were pleasantly surprised by how large the portions were at such a great price - crazy good too for takeout. We just left from a dine in dinner tonight; the food was just as good and the service was even better. Ong this it
One of my favorite places to eat in Athens! There are so many great dishes on their menu. The best in my opinion is their pineapple shrimp fried rice, Massaman curry, spicy Thai fried rice or the pad see ew. The coconut soup and spring rolls are also amazing. I highly recommend their Thai tea as well.
Called in my order and was told it would be ready in 30-40 minutes. Headed over 50 minutes later. Got told my food wasnt quite ready and would be out shortly. I didnt receive my food for another 40 minutes after. The pad Thai was good but the chicken and rice plate I got was so bland and dry. Would not recommend.
Called in an order and was told 30-40 minutes. Showed up 40 minutes after the phone call. Food wasnt ready but told it would be soon and paid for the meal. 40 minutes after that (80 minutes after I called in the order and 40 minutes after they told me the order would be readythe food still wasnt ready. Employees were actively avoiding the people waiting for to go orders. I understand everyone is a bit short staffed right now, but you cant be 40+ minutes off on your estimates for to go orders and not bother to let people know.
Best Thai place in Athens, hands down. The Pad See Ew is next-level comfort food... Order online and customize it, then pick it up and eat it in pajamas. Cheaper than therapy, and just as good.
The BEST Thai Tea in Athens!!!! Trust me, Ive tried enough to know😅 Their Curry is also the best Ive had in town! And great spring rolls , gyoza , and veggies and rice🤌🤌 cant go wrong here
Super delicious food and really fast service. I got the spicy Thai noodles with tofu (2 for spiceand the coconut soup. Cant wait to come back!
We came here on a Saturday night. They are dine out only , if you eat outside they serve it in to go containersOnly one person working in the restaurant other than kitchen staff. Inattentive and un-accommodating. Ordered the Tom Khah Coconut Soup with Shrimp for $11.50 , it had two small shrimp and was not hot. Pad Thai with Chicken was cold and marginal, the Avocado Roll with Basil was also marginal. We asked to add more shrimp to the soup and to heat it up. The server said thats the way it comes and nothing he could do , my wife asked again and then he said he would see if they would add some shrimp and stick it in the microwave. We asked for a refund of the soup which he complied.I rarely complain about food, but this is the worst Thai Cuisine Ive ever had.I have over 30 years culinary experience and own a restaurant, it appalls me to see restaurants who fail to put there best effort into there cuisine, especially in these pandemic times when restaurants are struggling. My suggestion, skip this place and try some of the other fabulous offerings in Athens GA
Very good fried chicken and rice! I wish things were okay so we could sit inside, I really like the atmosphere. Eating outside was just fine, though! Wait was a bit long, but it was a Friday night so I didnt mind.
My boyfriend and I ordered pickup here for the first time tonight and requested suki and the red curry. This was worst curry Ive every had; it was sugary sweet, the bell peppers were completely raw, and it was totally inedible. To make things worse, this was the replacement of an incorrect order that we had to back drive to the restaurant to exchange. On top of that, the customer service was terrible. Not only did my boyfriend have to prove and explain that he was a customer there to pickup an order instead of being a deliver driver, the woman answering the phone was condescending and claimed that she package this mess of a meal herself and promised it was the red curry...she explained that the color and taste were off because the coconut milk diluted the red curry paste? Maybe thats why it came out so sweet. It wasnt worth asking for a refund, didnt want to return to the restuarant for a third time in one night. We will not order from here again.
This is hands down my favorite Thai place in town, possibly my favorite Thai place period. The food is delicious and well-portioned. The staff is wonderful! My go-to is the Thai Spicy Noodles and the Thai Dumplings (pictured). The Thai Dumplings are out of this world and they make them in-house. Their coconut soup is also perfect. If youre not a fan of spicy food, be sure to check the heat rating on the dish youre ordering because some only come at a level 2 or higher. Personally, level 2 is perfect for me but its not for everyone. The location is great too and calling for take out is great because the food is ready pretty quickly and easy to pick up. If youre gluten intolerant, this is also a safe restaurant to eat at and theyll happily answer any questions you have. If youve never tried Thai food, this is definitely a great place to start. The staff are helpful too if you need recommendations!
We were visiting Athens and wanted a lunch that we cant get easily at home so we stopped at Thai Spoon. The lunch portions were a good size and I enjoyed the Massaman Tofu and coconut mushroom soup. My friend enjoyed the chicken fried rice but we both noticed the spring rolls didnt have much flavor. The place was busy but service was prompt and friendly
Enjoyed dinner at Thai Spoon on Valentine’s Day. We did not have a reservation so we sat at the bar. Food was delicious and the servers and manager/owner (not surecame by to make sure everything was perfect which it was. Very good, definitely would recommend trying if you are in Athens.
Service was awesome and the food was incredible. You get a decent portion for the price, and they dont skimp on the protein. It was all delicious, and the calamari was tender and not at all chewy! Pleasantly surprised!
Food is very good, service is excellent, and ambiance is casual yet cozy and nice.
The hubby and I have been looking for a closer Thai restaurant than our favorite... An hour away! This one works!! Pad woon sen is my very favorite! There coconut soup was interestingly delicious! The California rolls were the best I have ever had! 🍣🍜🍛 🤩
Great foods and nice people. This is the only place I have ever been to that offers masaman tofu with avocado and cashews. The lunch specials offer a drink, soup and fried spring roll.I am sad they still use styrofoam for take out.😡
I was taken aback last night by Thai Spoon! The dumplings, potstickers, and Massaman curry were delicious. Our server (who was also the owner I believeand the rest of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Athens!
The food is delicious and its in the ❤️ of Athens. They have a wide menu of Thai choices. Parking is what is downtown. Good with locals and students. Good choices for vegan eaters. I come to town once a year and it us consistently good food and service. My visit would be incomplete without meeting friends at Thai Spoon.
The best coconut soup Ive ever had! So good. Loved the egg roll and sauce too. The main courses were delicious as well. My 4 yr old loved her pad thai.
