Thai Orchid Dublin - Thai restaurant in Dublin, Ireland
Very good Thai food. Please staff. Clean restaurant. A solid 4 Stars (not 5), but not bad.
We have been going to Thai orchid for over 10 years, it is hands down one of the best authentic thai restaurants around. Hopefully it opens up again soon.
Checked out where to eat on trip advisor. This one came up near the top and just fancied Thai. I have never felt so welcomed. The service was fantastic and such a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend
A bit of an over-priced tourist trap but the Panang curry was nice enough. Unfortunately I contracted severe food poisoning here, most probably from eating the salad in the mixed starter. My girlfriend shared the rice with me and she was fine. It ruined the end of our holiday and two and a half days later, Im still suffering. It was so severe that the Dublin hospital that I was treated in took the restaurants details.
Good Thai food for Ireland, service could have been better. Food was tasty, early bird menu 2 courses for €21.95, only 2 chicken satay sticks for starter. Bottle of house wine €24.95 so a little on the expensive side, however this is central Dublin. Not sure if I would rush back here but if you want Thai food and cost is not an issue then you will not be disappointed. Loads of prawns/shrimp in the red Thai curry 👍
I was there for lunch and the food was good. Plate/food presentation could have been better (for example, a Stir-fried is best to serve in separate bowls/dishes as it comes with rice. Dont mix everything on the same plate, also leaving a 1/3 empty space on the plate which doesnt look good presentation-wise). That said, the Interior decor is great and feels comfy and most importantly, the food was well prepared.
The most authentic Thai food you could find in Dublin. Great service, indeed !! Reasonably priced. thanks to all staffs there for making this such a wonderful dining experience in Dublin. Highly recommended.
I would give it 0 stars if I could. We waited 45 minutes for the main dish. The champagne and wine listed on the card was not available. The waiter was beyond rude and we could not even split invoice. Furthermore they served the wrong food. My girlfriend was wasted though so we survived.
My main was delicious and the portion was big. The gyoza were a bit cold and rubbery when I would have liked them more crisp. The staff were very friendly.
We booked a table for 9 and were told to not be late. We arrived 5 minutes early and the staff checked the time as if they didnt want to serve us. Food was very good but customer service was awful. Had to request plates to be removed after 20 minutes of waiting. Service was very slow overall as well.
Fresh and good food. Quick service. Very nice
Stunning little find. I trudged around Dublin for ages looking for something half decent to eat and nearly ended up in McDonalds but I found this place and it was so busy I had to wait 10 mins for a seat. Very glad I did. The staff are rushed off their feet but the food is divine. The Panang Curry...incredible.
Mediocre food and service. They were so inflexible to even accommodate spice levels while ordering. We were craving for Asian flavors and time was running out so went there and food seemed just about okay. Will not repeat or recommend.
Hi i went here yesterday with my Mother for lunch what I had was Lovely but i found the Waitress who served me a bit Snobby or rude, the Way she brought over my glass and Slammed it down on the table just coz I asked was there a Starter and Main course Lunch deal for 9.50 the Yellow Curry was nice a bit Spicy slightly but had nice Potato in it.When I left too after the meal I thought the girl was Laughing at me as I walked out that was a bit odd like. Get back please your food was Nice id be back again.
I suspect a recent change of management. Their online menu accessed via Google Maps lists fish cakes as an appetizer and crispy duck salad as a salad from the takeaway menu. The staff, none of whom appear to be Thai (!), were startled by my attempt to order these items. Upon closer examination one of the appetizers that we purchased was Peking/Beijing duck, complete with hoisin sauce and pancakes. Cashew nut chicken, a dish I have often ordered, did not taste bad, but it did not taste like Thai food. The hot peppers it contained had more of the palate feel and palate attack of Hunan or Szechuan peppers. What we have here is a southwestern Chinese restaurant in Thai clothing. Don’t be fooled.
Thai restaurant with pretty good curries. The food was good and the service was ok.If I go there again I will have a curry (picturedas it was a bit better than the meal I have ordered (I dont remember what it was called but it was good too). There are several restaurants that offer similar food but this is a solid choice in this part of town. The price was not excessive as far as I remember.
I went there with my daughter for a quick bite. She got coconut soup (too salty & she could not eat itand I got vegetable rolls (came in a grease puddle). We are waiting for the check and a lay finally brings it by. She asks us to pay & leave if we are not ordering anything else as she has customers waiting. 1st there were empty tables and no one waiting. 2nd we were the ones waiting to pay. I would it recommend visiting this restaurant. The food we tried was badly cooked/flavored & the service was horrendous.
I have been going to this restaurant for years and I really love the food. I love the chicken maasaman and chili beef. Another great thing about the place is that you can order and collect on your way home. I ring when Im leaving work and by the time I get to my bus right next to the restaurant my g ood is ready to collect. So food is still hot when I get home. Staff are ALWAYS very polite and friendly. For example even when I am getting food to take away they encourage you to sit and be comfortable, instead of making you stand at the counter.
I tried the garlic and black pepper stir fry, found it quite salty for my taste buds.
Id give them 0 starts if I could. It was my friends birthday, and we waited for the main course more than 45 minutes. When I complained to the manager, he seemed not to care what I said and didnt even say sorry about it. I understand it gets busy, but at least I think they should have come and checked on us if we were ok or say that the food was going to that ages to come. Ill never come again and I wont recommend this restaurant to my friends anymore as I used to.
Excellent staff and customer service. The food was delicious and fresh; our meals were either on a too salty or too sweet sides. Other than that we enjoyed our meals a lot!
3 star food. Panang curry was a 4 star, but too salty. Tom Kha soup was good, and Id give it 4 stars as well. But the Pad See Ew was disgusting- they used the wrong noodles, and the sauce wasnt authentic, it was more of a oil basic stir fry sauce that needed much more fish sauce and spice. Its as if they confused pad kee mao with pad see ew. Overall, mediocre food, and ridiculously overpriced. I know its the Temple Bar are, but come on, 22 Euros for a stir fry?
I ordered beef salad and the salad was literally flooded by the sauce. Also, it was not clear if the salad was suppose to be hot or cold. Definitely felt like a tourist trap.
Very nice place! I tried the Vegetable spring rolls and the Noodles with tofu & vegetables.I enjoyed a lot the food! 10/10👌🏻
Had chicken pad thai and it was delicious. Reminds me of the ones Ive had In Thailand!
I had a satay chicken as a starter and the prawn pad thai as the main dish. The chicken was a bit dry but the sauce was good. The prawn pad thai was good but a bit too much oil in it for my taste. Again, as every place in Dublin, it was a big plate. Overall, it was an ok meal.
Very nice meal here. Reasonably priced and food reminded us of our trip to SE Asia last year.Pity they only have Heineken on draft though.
The overall experience was pretty good. Mostly attentive staff and good food. The prices were a bit on the higher side which wasn‘t necessarily justified with better taste or quality or interieor.
Superb very tasteful food, excellent service and reasonable prices. We had a delicious and enjoyable evening. Great atmosphere and superb staff.
So the Thai food in Dublin leaves a lot to be desired because most of it is made sweetish to ensure that those who are not spice tolerant dont suffer. I get that completely. But when someone asks you to make spicy food voluntarily, its few places like Thai Orchid that make an authentic, spicy dish. I tried the chicken penang curry and it was brilliant.
This Thai spot was amazing. Me and my girlfriend Rose came in after a very long day and we were starving. It was surprisingly not busy around 7PM and we got a seat right away. She got the Phad Thai and I got the sweet and sour (both tofuwhich are dishes that we get often at home in Seattle and that I enjoyed frequently on my two month trip to Thailand a couple years ago. We also got some sides. I got a side of noodles thinking I would be too hungry for my dish and we split spring rolls. Everything was amazing and it was definitely plenty of food. The service was also super quick and friendly. Throughout the meal we continued to ask for more things like extra drinks and rice to go with the sweet and sour and they got everything for us with a smile even though the restaurant was obviously filling up fast. If I go through Dublin again, this will be a likely stop!
Stopped in for lunch on our walk around town. The massaman curry was delicious and not spicy. We also got the pad see ew and asked for it to be made spicy, it was delicious but no real spice. Reasonably priced, fast friendly service.
It was very disappointed. The staff urged to order, the rice served was smelly and the soup was either. It add order coriander herbs cuz smell. After the meal, the unknown kitchen staff laughs in unfamiliar language at the checkout desk .. I really do not want to go back again.
The place was okay-ish. I found it a bit small. The food was ok, nothing that blowed my mind. The starter was quite good though - we had the mixed plate, so that we could try from as many as possible. The main course was quite a huge portion. Price was it could be cheaper. Personnel was extremely friendly.
So Thai , real thai chilli , love it.
Just reasonable. Good location, nice staff, reasonable price. It is good for just one dinner but nothing special.
Had a good experience here. The place is very cozy and the food is average-above average. Had the early bird (app, entree, coffee/teawhich is an OK price of 18).The bathroom isnt the best. Id also suggest that they warn you before you order anything spicy. Or add it to their early bird menu. I was dying eating the food and i didnt even expect something spicy.
Do not go or order anything in this place! I ordered chicken stay and pad thai... and this is what I get. The chicken satay comes without sauce enough it was just fried chicken with lettuce... And the pad thai was overpriced €15.5 .I wont recommend this place.
Had dinner here twice recently, loved the food and the atmosphere both times. Very good restaurant on the western edge of Temple Bar. Good choice of Thai food options on the menu. Prices reasonable for Temple Bar. I like that the menu clearly tells you how spicy, or not, each option is, using one, two or three pepper symbols. I had the one pepper options, which I thought were not very spicy at all, so next time, two peppers... So dont worry, try something spicier! The size of the restaurant is deceptive, first floor is intimate, but they have two other floors above. Tables a little tight together. Staff were efficient and professional. They have wine by the glass if you dont want a whole bottle. They also do take away. Overall, great Thai food, and they have been here almost 20 years!
This is a really cosy restaurant, the food is excellent and great value for money. They do have a teatime special but to be honest its not that much more to order off the normal menu.If your in Dublin and you love Thai then deffintly visit this place.
Amazing food. We had the early bird special giving 2 courses for €20 - a very reasonable price for Dublin!Food was great, service was quick and friendly. Cant fault it.
We were visitors from Thailand and looking for some decent Thai food in Dublin. First thing we did was establish that the chef was Thai, and he is. Therefore, you are Thai (or you know real Thai foodand want to have your food cooked like home (as much as possible anyhow), just stick your head into the kitchen and have a friendly chat with the chef.
Never again. The green curry was bitter, the spring rolls tasteless, the Pad Thai had a dominant sweet taste, and the service was bad. They let us wait for several minutes at the entrance while rearranging several other tables, only to then wave us to another table that has already been set up all along. One toilet was even clogged. Felt like a tourist trap. The starter soup was good though.
Food is about ok but it does not feel too fresh. Price can be fair at lunch time but the menu gets more expensive for dinner. Not one of my favourite in the area for this type.
I have been in the Thai Orchid during a weekend I visited Dublin with a friend and we enjoyed it a lot. The prices are reasonable and the service was nice. I really liked the Green Curry! It was nearly as good as some I had when Ive been in Thailand.
Definitely my favourite Thai restaurant in Dublin so far. Food is delicious and at the right price. Service is friendly and polite. The restaurant is cosy and nice. I really like this restaurant, I already been there 3 times and Ill definitely go againi in the future.
Went on 10th March 16 in the eveningFood okay, starters warm but served on cold plates, mains were better.Biggest let down for us was the service, basically we were ignored, even had to go back downstairs to order our mains as well as ask for more drinks. So if you like to be ignored this is the place for you otherwise avoid
It doesnt deserve a single star. I requested a spicy dish and it wasnt. Although disappointed by that, I wouldnt have written a review because of it. My dish gave me food poisoning! I lost a whole day of only 5 days in Ireland. Obviously cleanliness and quality arent there. Go elsewhere!
Nice place. Can not discuss quality of food ☆☆☆☆☆ delicious.Waiters are really nice and smiling, helpfull explainong all this dishes.Beverage truly expensive, 1 bottle of water 6 euro...
Easily the worst pad thai I have had. It was dry, tasteless, and lacking any interesting quality. I do not recommend this restaurant. In addition to the bad food, I did not get my drink (wateruntil my food arrived. Also, the waiter never asked me how my dinner was. I leaving the large unfinished portion and finding something else.
