Thai Kitchen - Thai restaurant in Childress, United States
We were searching for about 3 hours for somewhere to stop on our road trip and this place popped up. So happy we stopped in! Great food, kind and fast service, nice quiet environment! The veggie delight was delish!
Great place for “home cooking” meal while driving through north west Texas. Fast service friendly staff. Great salad bar.
Excellent food prepared by people who really care. Been coming here for years on my way through, never had a bad experience.*UPDATE: stopped through here again on my way north and usually park my big truck along the road in the last strip of parking spots. Never been a problem for the previous owners. They always had plenty of room to accommodate me for 40 minutes or so while I dined. This time I pulled in as usual and one of the new owners chase me out of her parking lot! Little did she know that I had been coming there for years and told the other guys that I work with that it was a great place to stop for Thai food. I mean, there wasnt a single car in the whole parking lot, as I was there in the early afternoon and would have spent 40 or $50 there easily, because I always take some to go. Hey lady too bad, I wont be back.
This place has such a good chicken pad Thai and the workers are so nice and pleasant. I drive through here occasionally and get the order to go. The only bad part is they give you a spork to eat it. It’s kinda hard to drive, eat chicken pad Thai with a spork and type this review all at the same time. (Mayhem is everywhere!)
Over charged me for a meal. Paid over 10 bucks for a regular kai pow chicken plate and I asked for a side of steamed rice. Got my plate and they gave me a combination plate I didnt order with a egg roll. Combination plate is 7.49 and they charged me 10.81. Every time I come here they mess up my order..im done with this place esspecially waiting 40 mins for my meal after they said it would take 15 to 20 mins. Horrible service
The food was delicious and the server very friendly and accommodating.
The food was really dry honestly not worth it but you get what you pay for I guess.
A very pleasant surprise. The food tasted way better than what we had expected. The restaurant itself could be a little cleaner but the food was great.
Random stop after hours on the road. Need some veggies and flavor? Try the combo chop suey. It was good!
Food was good as was the price was fair service was great all the employees were fantasticf. I would suggest they make a garlic pork dish!Highly recommended
Ive only gotten the pad kee Mao, but its great every time
Tastes nothing like Asian food. All American products, steamed rice is gross. For the price, you can get better elsewhere
Ive eaten here plenty of times and the food is constantly good theres never a day when the food taste off. Very enjoyable
I get take out often. The food is very good, and usually have enough left for another meal.
Chow mein too soggy, wonton soup is ok. Over all taste good.
A good eat for Asian taste, but don’t expect to be authentic Thai. The dishes are missing the most fundamental Thai ingredients such as Thai basil, lemon grass, and most importantly, the Thai chili spices. Pad Thai noodles were overcooked. Kra-pow beef had tough beef. One of the server was nice and courteous. The other one was so-so.They add 3.5% surcharge when paying by credit card without telling you. When asked, the so-so waitress said “it’s 1%”. But that’s just not true!
Their food was delicious! I was surprised lol I thought I wasnt gonna like it But Im glad I was wrong. Everything that we order was really good. I definitely recommend this place!
I really enjoyed our lunch stop here. Food was very good..
The service is good, and the food too, but it has gotten a bit pricy.
I ordered the triple delight and egg rolls. Ate the egg rolls and threw away the main dish. No flavor at all. My dog wouldnt even eat it
We stopped in Childress, TX for the night and decided to try Thai Kitchen. I wasnt expecting much, honestly. I figured going to a Thai place in Texas was silly. Boy was I wrong! It was fresh and reasonably priced and absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! I highly recommend this place! I had the Tofu and Veggies and my son had the Pho!
Love their food.! But it has changed in flavor since it first opened. They have updated some on the inside and expanded their menu. The food is always good.! It’s just my usual has been missing a certain flavor or spice. But it’s still amazing.!
The worst I’ve ever had. The grease was so flighty the food made me sick. The smell of the food even had old grease smell. It was unbelievable that the waitstaff would have served it but even more unbelievable that I accepted it.
I use to love this place. My last visit I ordered combination chop suey and crab raggons. It was not good the meat had a rotten smell. I wont be going back for a while. If ever.
Me and my husband got pho they got it out at a good timely manner and it was delicious will definitely be returning soon!
Nice friendly place to eat reasonable prices. Dont order extra spicy unless you like a really hot.
Who knew you could find decent Thai food in the middle of nowhere Texas? Was delighted to see bubble tea on their menu. We enjoyed the pad see-ew and pad Thai. Four stars instead of five because styrofoam take home containers 😭 🌎 ♻️ 🌳
Excellent food, great service, and quick with plenty of food for the price will definetly be coming back when Im in the area the ladies were awesome also great all the way around
We love this place. My husband and I go for lunch. I love their Pad Thai and my husband loves the Triple Delight. Owner is a very nice lady!
Sinus cleaning , tear producing , truly spicy chicken Ka pow!!!...will return and try their spicy curry...fried rice could use some work.....clean and friendly....a definite change of pace from all the tex mex and bbq joints
Just passing through and found this spot. Great flavor in the pad Thai, Thai spicy is the way to good if you like hot food. Friendly staff too. All in all I never expected to find good Thai food way out here.
Phenomenal food at a reasonable price. The flavors were amazing, the rangoons were fresh and great. I highly recommend stopping by for a bite.
Absolutely amazing! Been here twice and excellent food each time. My friend with me loves Thai food and while this is an Amercanised menu, it is still very good! Excellent prices!Tonight I had the Lemon Chicken and egg drop soup. Chicken was absolutely cooked to perfection and the lemon sauce was sooo good. It reminded me almost if a lemon jolly rancher but not as sweet. Egg Drop Soup has a sneaky spice that while not overwhelming can sneak up on you. I loved it and the little chips were fresh and delicious by themselves. Always great service! Mom and Pop Diner type ambience. Non smoking. Closed Saturdays.
Food was great! We got takeout and took it to our motel after a long day of driving. We did not call in our order, but it was ready quickly. We will definitely eat here again when we are in Childress.
Ive eaten here once before and it was somewhat ok, but the pad thai was super dry as was the chicken (if chicken is what it really was). So today, I tried to order pad thai with extra sauce like Ive done at almost every Thai place Ive ever been because I dislike the noodles when they are too dry. This place actually said, "What kind of sauce?" I said, "Pad thai sauce." This place said, "Theres no pad thai sauce. Pad thai is dry." We went back and forth for a bit. She finally said, "I know there is pad thai sauce, but the noodles are dry." I said, "However much pad thai sauce you normally use for pad thai noodles, just double it for me." She actually said, "What kind of sauce?" Eventually I finally realized they were too stupid to know how to make pad thai. No wonder it was dry the first time I went here. They have pad thai sauce, but believe it should not go on pad thai. Go ANYWHERE else. One hour in any direction will get you to a better asian place than this.
Im a truck driver and I have been coming here for the last month. So if your a Driver stop by Thai Kitchen you will not be disappointed. There is parking truck parking at the gas station next to it. One of the best spicy chow mein noodles I have tasted. I love spicy food the one that makes you sweat. That how you know its spicy. Ive been to restaurants were you tell them to make it spicy and get disappointed by the spice level. If your passing through stop by and grab a bite to eat, the staff is super nice and the place is clean. Im trying out the menu, lets see what I try next week.
This restaurant has new management, and since, has been the best it has been for years. The food is always very flavorful. I usually call in my orders ahead of time so I can just walk in and pick it up. It is usually done in 10-15 minutes.
Recently stopped in Childress and needed an hour to charge the Tesla. My wife and I decided to try out this establishment and were very happy we did. The building and low key environment are deceiving as the food was fantastic. Very friendly owner/staff made for a great stop and we will definitely stop again the next time we pass through!
Fast clean and delicious food. Service was great! I was not expecting much for it being a small town but I was pleasantly surprised.
Very good food. Half the menu is Thai and half leans more to Chinese. Look forward to eating here again when passing though.
They got my order wrong, but the food that did arrive was great!
We came here based on the rating. We were fooled. Altough the servers were nice it showed they lacked training and were not experienced. We waited a very long time for them to take our order. Then a long time to get our meal. When we did finally have food in front of us it was very bland. No flavor to the Mongolian beef or go se me. The curry was not worth mentioning either. I just recommend you dont have any expectations if you eat here.
We had the pad Thai chicken and pork and curry chicken. Yuck! Won ton soup was exceptable. The other people with us were not pleased with their meal either :-(Customer service and price were good.
Its disgusting dont eat here. Its not Thai food its more Chinese/American style and its really not good. If you are on the road dont stop. The girl in the front was really friendly. Thats the onlyCool thing.
All around good food & service. Cilantro in the soups is questionable with the egg drop & wonton styles. I would definitely recommend this little hidden gem!
Ok just left the resturant only one young lady working the floor.. Great young lady but lacks the skills for waitressing., every table in the house was cluttered with plates,, two elderly gentleman came in and took and say in a chair waiting to be sat. 7 four tops 4 booths and one 4 top in the whole house., all dirty... When the older folks asked whats going on. I looked over and seen two young kids playing on there phone.. I said the old men are about to leave. There reply was oh we are not working tonight ! She is..wow hope that mom does not pay you a lot.. You kids need to step up and bus the tables if your going to be there.. Bad ,, bad,, take the cell phone else where ., to the young lady waiting on my table sorry I upset you but remember tips are earned so when you walk over to give a drink. And you see an empty plate pick it up as you head to the back . this will make it easier for when the table clears out.. Sorry. When you are told about what a person says keep the attitude behind closed doors. I did not have tip you the wife said to..Now the door was great I will eat again ..food was good.
Excellent alternative to BBQ/Burger joints if youre driving through the panhandle. Cant say much for the ambiance, but the food was excellent and service was fast and nice.
This is my favorite place to eat in the pan-handle. If the region were in a diverse and more populated part of the country I might only give it three or four stars. It is without a doubt the best food availble within a 250 mile radius. Stop here for lunch or dinner. Theres a 500 mile long food desert and this oasis is right in the middle.
Stopped by for dinner while traveling. Good choice! Spartan interior comment is correct, but the foods is good and the staff is friendly. My wife had the triple delight and I had the spicy seafood.
Good panang curry. Spartan interior. Ditzy waitresses. The evening I was there, I had to wrestle some flies for my meal. Even so, the food was good, although barely spicy by Thai standards ... they didnt ask how hot I wanted it. Tasty and a large quantity for the $7.99 price.
