Thaba Bosiu Cultural Village - in Mohale’s Hoek, Lesotho
I attended the graduation event. The place is beautiful
A beautiful scenery for a relaxed outing #MotherLand, #ThababosiuCultural Village. I enjoyed my weekend with fam!
Their chilli was amazing 10/10, the food was not good at all and we also did not get a tour to help us navigate and understand the historical culture of Basotho. It needs more intentional service... the restaurant is not bad with their service
It was beautiful and snowing the whole time we were there. Breath taking moments we had🌸
We refused to pay R30 just to see a statue. At the Shoeshoe restaurant the waiter was very slow. It took forever to get our food and when we finally got to us it was very cold.
Great to learn about Basotho culture. The Tour Guide was excellent.
Enjoyed the talk by the tour guide.
Cultural heritage of the nation based near a National Monument as declared by UNESCO
This place is amazing and i learned that you dont google Basotho history, you go to Lesotho and theyll happily tell you their rich History by themselves, amazing people, food, hospitality and culture 😍
Nice food 😋. Except for been charged R50 to take pictures. Everything else was Great
I really loved the tour. Climbing up the mountain was no easy task, but it was worth the workout (the walk back down aint so smooth either)This mountain is really such a great part of the Basotho culture and the guide was so knowledgeable about King Moshoeshoe and the history of the place. The tour would have been useless without the guide. The scenery is beautiful too... Got to take beautiful pictures with the mountains as the background.Lovely indeed!
What a beautiful experience walking through this village and the history about the Basotho nation. Well worth the drive from Maseru.
Detail history of King Moshweshwe, nice accommodation and hiking activities
Place is neat and their food is lovely oh man and their staff is so nice... ❤️
The place was well built and tried to portray exactly how the Basotho people and different tribes lived. The museum is very educative. Its a place worth visiting when you are in Lesotho.
The tour guide was impressive from the start through to the museum visit. However, the place needs some refurb.
I loved the food at shoeshoe restaurant, I had to make it my dining spot
Very nice place to see more about the history of people from this country. In the village is more different houses according to the social status of the period. The houses and the whole village are in very good condition and walking around is very nice. You can also hire a guide and piston more stories about life. Pretty interesting place where to stop for sure
Nice atmosphere, very quiet, However need to improve on wifi provisions at the rooms
Amazing place to visit with helpful and devoted guides. Enjoyable experience and excellent hike to admire the picturesque views.
A very spiritual place. To walk in King Moshoeshoes footsteps was a privilege.
Wonderful experience at Thaba Bosiu. Visit the restaurant too, you will enjoy
The guide was amazing. Learned a lot about Basotho and our history. Beautiful place. The food at Shoeshoe was not the best; my steak was stiff and tasteless, very disappointing.
Ive never enjoyed history as much as I did at Thaba Bosiu cultural village. The gentleman was very knowledgeable about BaSotho history, he was patient and such a happy soul.
The rooms are very beautifully constructed. Unfortunately service is not customer orientated. The detail afforded to the accommodation has not be carried through to any other aspect of the operation.
This beautiful complex offers cultural village, museum, restaurant and the amphitheatre. Both the cultural village and the museum provide valuable information about the history of the place and Basotho people. One can also take a hike up to Thaba Bosiu mountain where the grave of King Moshoeshoe I is. The Shoeshoe Restaurant offers some nice dishes my favorite being an Alfredo. They also serve hot and cold beverages.
Nice place to hang put and chill with friends over an afternoon. It offers short hike to see the Kings seat mountain, which inspired the Basotho hat. Views are generally beautiful and the village offers a restaurant where you can rest and have some drinks or snacks. Also it offers space for conferences and large events.
Loved the horse riding, the tourist guide escorted Basotho history museum experience as well as the friendly welcoming atmosphere.
Its the best. We liked everything about it. The rooms, the food and staff members are to die for. I would recommend friends and family to visit when they go to Lesotho
My friend and I we were tired from the festival and decided to rest at least one night before heading back to Johannesburg booked at Thaba Bosiu and I was not happy at all the bed I was sleeping on was hard as a rock wake up with my whole body sore. We had a phone but with no phone book in our room which made it so hard to communicate with the kitchen and reception, reported it but no one took action. No one gave us rules but everyone was on our case thats not allowed. The manager who traumatized my friend the way he was addressing the staff member not sure he never heard of a thing called addressing your workers privately. I dont want to say a thing about the restaurant cause it was just a disaster. One star is for the friendly welcome we got from reception.
Very laid back. Historical significance wow. History seems to come alive as you climb step by step to the top of Thaba Bosiu
This is one of the few museums which offer "life" presentation of the artifacts and the way of life of the Basotho culture. The session is so informative and interactive that you will start thinking deeply about the past, present and future of the human race.PS. You must be willing to climb a couple of hills and bending down low.
Friendly staff welcomes you to luxurious thatched roof rondawels. TV and fridge available in the rooms. Breakfast is a mix of cereals, fresh fruit, cold meats and prepared food. Our special requests were attended to promptly without complains. The venue caters for larger groups of people. Amfiteater and a large function hall available for functions. On site is a cultural village to show you how the Basothos used to live. Pleasant experience overall.
Absolutely beautiful setting with really great accommodation. Good food, but avarage service. Not cheap, but one of the best places to stay as well as eat in that area. Certainly worth a try. Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Clean chalets with most necessaties. Just make sure you know whats available in regards to food - as the chalets does have a stove, but its not connected. Also no cutlery and crockery in the chalets - apart from the customary 2 Cups, spoons and glasses for morning coffee. There is a working fridge in each chalet, so bring what you need in terms of milk or water. Chalets are really comfortable with enough linen and underfloor heating when necessary.
Because it promotes Culture, history and tradition of Basotho,so Lesotho must maintain it so that even our children may tour the cultural village and learn more about themselves.
The museum and cultural village is well worth seeing. Restaurant had delicious items and the prices were also great. Thank you.
I must say, this is one of the best cultural villages I’ve been to from the working staff to the accommodation it’s truly an amazing place to visit in Lesotho and also the history contained in the cultural village is mind blowing. This place truly deserves a 5 star rating and should be visited by everyone who wants to know the rich history of Lesotho.
I really enjoyed 1hour climbing Thaba Bosiu and I applaud our tour guide Tshepo Matata for giving us the tour. I did expect that courage they gave me together with my ❤ Dorothy.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is very beautiful and has a fascinating history. The food is good but spicy.
The place is superb but they need to think of paying entrance fee and let people bring their cooler bags we were buying hot beers on the hot thats really bad we had to leave the place due to that. U cant buy with your money n get such treating of giving customers hot beers it sucks honestly next they charge entrance fee n let peoples bring their own booze
A really fascinating place. Full of history. Worth the steep climb to the top, although the well maintained paved pathway makes it easier.
Great location just 20 minutes from Maseru. Friendly staff and great service befitting the place of such historical importance to Basotho. There is no better place to lodge around Thaba Bosiu. They even have a shuttle to and from Maseru. The village offers a great opportunity to learn about Basotho culture
Very nice, clean place. Im taking away a star because the staff doesnt smile but they are quick to provide good service... just dont expect much of a greeting or smile.
Where culture meets technology. Having WiFi and CCTV cameras in the village. Its a lovely place. Friendly staff, lovely food, awesome place overally. Theres a statue of the great King Moshoeshoe, a museum and its just a five minute walk to the foot of Thaba Bosiu mountain, where the Basotho Kingdom was found. Lovely place indeed!
I just like it, everything is natural and made in traditional way of Basotho. Theres a time to rest. Time to explore. A good place for photo lovers like me. Remember, it is situated where Moshoeshoe 1 the founder of Basotho nation lived in his days. The place is just below that mountain of Basotho that seemed to be growing at night.
Amazing history told. Awesome experience of climbing the mountain. Such a big area up there. Different types of huts resembling what was up in the mountain..Sjoe, lovely experience indeed.
Good place to absorb culture and history. But it sucks that each component of the village has a charge. Id have been better off paying a lumped fee to access all amenities in the village. That is, museum and village tour
Very nice sceneries. Also, the tourist centre is open every day and tourist guides are there as well to take u to Thaba Bosiu and other tours.
Beautiful grounds. I enjoyed the historical guided tour of the village and the cultural performances. The food served at the restaurant was tasty, the restrooms were clean and the staff very friendly. Definitely a place I intend to visit again.
The place is cool. The chalets are spacious and warm. The ampitheater is also wonderful. Meals are also good. Didnt see tradituonal menu though
