Lovely evening...suberb meal...our first time at Terra Mare & well be back! Chefs special prawn & chorizo salad awesome. Rack of lamb was divine & perfectly cooked....No Merci dessert (more than enough for 2 to sharewas a knockout as well...truly a Paarl hidden gem :-)

Im largely vegetarian and will sometimes eat white meat if I have to, and here I had to. Their food is delicious and well plated, I just wish they had more vegetarian options...or at least one vegan option! Other than that, it was a lovely dining experience. If your a red meat and seafood person, this is the place for you.

Very delicious food, the chef went the extra mile for one of the people in the group that is a vegetarian.

This is one of the top restaurants in Cape Town. Actually its in Paarl about one hour from Cape Town, but its worth it. Go and see for yourself. Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff and management.

I always enjoy dinner at Terra Mare. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The owner Olivier is always there and the food is always GREAT. They have a wine list to suit most budgets. I have always been happy after an evening out here.

Excellent food and service without a starched white tablecloth. Especially kudu steak and grilled prawns were perfect! So was the non-merci dessert plate with 5 different sweats incl.cheesecake, tiramisu and sorbet, more than plenty for 2. Good choice of wine as well. The Swiss owner has been running it for 12+yrs which is unachievable without the local support I think. Highly recommended!

Since our last visit, we havent been back. We were served old, frozen fish and after voicing our concern we were not heard. Owner went round to all tables save for ours and blatantly ignored us. We are not picky customers, but better treatment and owning up to poor quality food would be well worth while.

The food is ALWAYS delicious - every course - from starter to main to dessert. Excellent, friendly service to complete the experience. Its a treat for me to go to Terra Mare. Thank you for never disappointing.

What a gem of a place. We visited more than a year ago, yet the owner remembered us and personally welcomed us. When I mentioned it was our anniversary, we were treated with champagne on the house. Service was great, and the food was beyond delicious!!!!!! Thanks!

What an awesome find! Atmosphere to service to dishes were all amazing (even the bread on the table was delicious). Went with a table of 12 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices and service was not compromised. Would definitely recommend this place and visit again.

I had a three course meal consisting of a starter (squid ink risotto), a main course (Kudu Filletand a desert (Limoncello Sorbettogether wirh a nice bottle of Chardonet. This dinner was an absolut revelation and more than pleasant. Service and environment were excellent. I can only highly recommend the Terra Mare restaurant.

I generally dislike writing reviews (especially bad onesbut I felt that I really needed to share my experience.I was part of a party of about 10 people seated inside at a table that was way to small in a room full of people with no air conditioning and no open windows. This was particularly grating, as it had been about 40 degrees Celsius in Pearl that day, and neither the evening, nor the restaurant offered any relief.Myself and a few other guests at our table ordered a beer, which came to the table warm. When we told this to the staff, they apologised, but did nothing about it. We then ordered our food, which took over an hour to be served, and one of the patrons had to wait almost an additional 20 minutes for his food. The kingklip was slightly undercooked for more than one person and way too small to fully satisfy anyone, and my gnocchi was over seasoned and very undercooked.When we complained to the owner, he attempted to salvage the situation (which I do commend him onhowever even this attempt did not remedy the situation. The complementary cream liquor he offered the ladies was watered down to the point where you couldnt taste the liquor, and the (almost totally emptybottle of brandy offered to the gentlemen was so raw it burnt your sinuses before it even reached your lips.Overall, a dining experience that isnt worth the money it asks for, and not a place that will ever see me again.

Overly salty muscles for a starter & salty gnocchi for a main. Could not even get through a quarter of my main meal after due to the salt used. Lacked ambiance and waiters lack the finesse for the calibre of restaurant. Overall a pretty poor experience.

Now that the swelling inside my mouth has gone down , I feel free tom comment on my experience at Terra Mare restaurant .I was one of a party of 8 , three of which representing a very big customer from Europe .To cut it short , while everyone else chose meat items from the menu , at this time , I preferred seafood . Ordered Shrimp cocktail as a starter _ I love shrimps ! . It came , accompanied by a little pot of hot chilly sauce . Very , very hot . Which I found rather strange . I would have prefered a slightly softer spicing , which could enhance the flavour of the seafood .But , everyone else very happy , I swallowed my shrimp , washed it down with ample bread and olive oil .Then , for main meal , I stayed with Tiger prawns - as I said , I just love it !But here again , the whole dish was steeped in this hotazel hot chilly sauce . There was no taste of anything else . No seafood flavour .Obviously the chef , living so far from the ocean ( about 60 kilometres do not have the slightest idea what a tiger prawn is , or what it tastes like , and do not realise that shellfish have a very very delicate flavour , which could very easily be overwhelmed by the harsh raw burn of hot hellfire habanero chillies .Its taken three days for the skins to regrow inside my mouth . Let me tell you , it is not pleasant to have such an unwanted defoliation in your mouth . And my tongue tip , will still take another week or so before I can taste anything again .I do not think I will be back again . I shudder to think what the chef would do to rape a good steak !!!

Terra Mare Restaurant is our favourite for years! Over the years they sustained a high quality of service, food and ensure a wonderful atmosphere. It remains no one on our list!
