Tensai ramen in Rotterdam
Description
Privilege
The best ramen I ever tried, absolutely recommended, especially if you like spicy ramen
MoreRamen are self made and they are very tasty. Soep is normal. Roasted chicken are very good. The service is very good, especially the tall Dutch young man who is very friendly.
MoreYes, as what have been reviewed by what many people, this place is worth visit!! The ramen i got was kirihibishi miso woth extra black garlic. It was bombastic! 🔥🔥🔥 then the okonomiyaki on stick was a good mixture! 🍾 10/10 the dried noodle is indeed not a conventional, but it was damn good.Good atmosphere, good service despite the many customer in the place. The food come up pretty quick pace looking at how crowded it is. Lastly, i was a bit sad that they dont have rice to go with the last part of the soup. But again, still amazing ramen. 🍜🔥
MoreVery delicious ramen place, 2/2 times it was perfect!
Very tasty ramen! The broth was creamy and flavorful. The noodles had a great thickness, and the others ingredients were also cooked to perfection.I wont give it 5 starts because there are better ones, but it is worth a visit if you enjoy Ramen but dont have huge expectations.
MoreDelicious chicken broth ramen! Its hot, spicy and youll enjoy it especially in a cold weather of 10 degrees Celsius.
MoreThis is our favourite ramen place in Rotterdam and we come here regularly. This time I had the Black Tonkotsu Ramen, really delicious. The broth is really really good.My wife had the Karashibi Miso Ramen but thats a bit too spicy. We like very spicy food but somehow ramen and spicy dont go together for me.
MoreVery tastyGood price compared to qualityGood environmentOnly thing making my review a 4 is that the broth was very fatty
Morethis is probably the best ramen i had! so creamy, the egg was perfect, the pork was soft and flavourful, everything was amazing!! i got a lychee soda, unfortunately the ice machine didn’t work that day. the fried chicken was awesome too! i’m definitely going back there again, one of my favourite places in rotterdam!
MoreI ordered tonkotsu ramen and they served black one..They said accidently it was made it. (Mistake)But I didnt care that much so I just tried and It was yumm. The kitchen was opened for everywhere so I could see inside. The owener and man&woman server looked like chinese family.
MoreThe karage was amazing, well seasoned. Crispy on the outside and moist inside. The tonkotsu broth was excellent. Authentic rich Broth. However, the vegan ramen was very bad. Stress on very. Mild, watery and with a sour aftertaste from the pickled veggie that honestly didn’t compliment at all the rest of the flavours. Very very disappointing ….
Moretbh i didnt like my stay in rotterdam but this ramen place made me consider a possible daytrip in the future. Havent eaten much ramen in my life but this wasnt only the best ive ever had, it also changed the way i look at ramen, now i get what all the fuss is about. Seriously great.(I had the tonkotsu with black garlic oil btw)
MoreWent here a year back, wasn’t too good. But now they really upped their game. Broth, noodle and condiments were all really delicious. Noodles were similar to the one’s you get at Ichiran Ramen. Karaage used to be really bad, and now they have improved it a lot.
MoreThe food was INCREDIBLE. I wasnt a huge fan of mushrooms, but the dish I had was good enough to sway my decade-long belief.
MoreIt was great and very delicious!! The noodles are very special and tasteful. Nothing to compare with other ramen (and we ate a lot in different places). High recommend this ramen shop!
MoreOh how we loved the taste of ramen! Hopefully this is a legit Japanese restaurant. We loved the hakata noodles and the tonkotsu broth, unlike in other restaurants that use that kind of curly instant noodles. The karaage is a bomb, too!
MoreWe were looking forward to eating at this place for a while now and it did not disappoint! We shared the karaage chicken as a starter and 4 pieces was enough because they’re big. The chicken was very juicy! The ramen was really tasteful & we could bring the leftovers home. Service was quick and kind.
MoreThat soup base is top notch. Match all the other top ramen places I’ve around the world even counting Japan. I’ll say definitely best ramen in town.
MoreOne of the best Ramen I’ve ever had! The broth is silky, savory and full of flavor. We had the Karashibi Miso Ramen, which had a nice spicy kick and the pork belly was juicy and beautifully charred.Don’t miss out on the starters: Karaage with a lemon twist was amazing.Only remark: the draft Kirin beer could have been much colder
MoreVery very wholesome and nice staff! Do their best to make sure you enjoy yourself and the food. The drinks did take a bit longer than expected, we had our chicken bites earlier than the drinks. The ramen was so good! Honestly one of the best we had, and i would recommend going here when you have the time. Especially for what you pay.
MoreTruly obsessed with this place. One of my favorite ramen restaurants in Rotterdam! They homemake their noodles in the restaurant and the interior is a nice twist of modern and traditional Japanese architecture. Staff is kind to a point, but they are attentive, which is truly appreciated. The peach soda is absolutely heavenly as well on a hot summer day ;)
MoreBy far the best noodle place in Rotterdam (and beyond?Try the fried chicken as a starter and the tan tan menh afterwards.
MoreThe decoration of the place is really good and beautiful. From the moment that I saw that one person was preparing the fresh Ramen, I knew that I would have a very good meal here. And I was right. The fried chicken 🍗 was from another world(amazing). And the Ramen were absolutely amazing. Everybody was telling me about this place, but now I know. One of the best restaurants that I have been to.
MoreRecommended to taste the typical Ramen dishes. Highly impressed by the hot Green Tea
MoreOne of the best ramen I ever had in Europe! The portions are also quite big
This is our 2nd visit. Tonkotsu ramen is the best deal in town! You can taste the fine flavor of creamy soup with homemade noodle. Quality is as good as the one I have had in Japan! Sophisticated interior design inspires customers feel cozy but exotic.
MoreBest ramen in Rotterdam. Located in center of Rotterdam, it is very easy to reach. Great selection of dishes, that you can accompany with japanese beers. The ramen are made literally in front of you, in a separate enclosure in the restaurant. Service is quick and friendly. Please try the gyoza. They are divine!
MoreGreat service, super helpful and good recommendations from the staff..the food 100% full of flavor
MoreBeen to several ramen shops but NONE comes close to Tensai. 😁The broth (boiled 10 hrsis what makes it delicious, not to mention their in-house made ramen. You can actually watch them make the ramen. They have several choices of ramen on the menu.Try their Black Tonkatsu or their Tan Tan.
Morefelt at home ❤️cozy, comfortable, warm and welcoming 🥰had a great ramen & drink. ordered tan tan and ginger ale 👌
MoreOverall good Tonkostu ramen, proper bone broth, but the noodle seems a little too thin and soft to me.
MoreSo good! I find myself thinking about the delicious Shirunashi Tan Tan Men from time to time knowing that it‘s not that easy for me to eat them as much as I want since I live in Germany 🥲 If you‘re in Rotterdam - eat here!
MoreThe portions od ramen are enormous! Nice staff and friendly atmosphere. Recommend!
MoreWe went to this place because of the previous reviews but we couldnt decide if Tensai Ramen or the Hinoki restaurant where the best do we tried both at the same time, both tries included the "Tonkotsu ramen" and "Karage", the winner was easily Tensai!.The broth in the Ramen was thicker and more flavorful (missing a pinch of ginger or something to make it perfect?), the noodles where really good but that is to be expected when you make it yourself, i prefer curly but thats me, and it is also the one who was the most authentic compared to what Ive eaten in Japan!.The Karage was very crunchy and the chicken inside was of good quality!, The taste was not quite what i remembered in Japan but it wasnt bad.Finding quality like this in home for us (Swedenis impossible so this was a happy part of our journey!.Go here to get the best ramen!.
MoreI really love karaage chicken in here, it is tasty and juicy. I also choose tonkotsu ramen, the brooth of the ramen really good and you can also see that the noodles are homemade but its missing ginger and spicy oil, maybe can order it. The staff is really friendly.
MoreOne of the best ramen restaurant Ive ever been. You can even see how they do the noodles on the machine by the door.Short menu, but nothing else is needed.I had kara-age, which was very tender, and warm as hell, be careful. The best Kara-age in town. Then I had the ramen, awesome is the word. Most of the times the restaurant is full, with people waiting outside to eat, now I know why.
MoreBest Ramen I have ever eaten.
I went to Rotterdam for a holiday. Came here because of the review. Quite disappointed. There is nothing special about the noodle. The soup is so salty that I didnt finish. The service is decent. I just figure out why people consider it the best Ramen place in the entire Rotterdam. That just baffles me.
MoreCame here based on friends recommendation. It was sooo good! We had Black tonkatsu (€13& Tantan spicy ramen (€14). Its even better than my favourite ramen in Singapore, which is quite hard to beat! Super flavourful and the tantan one was surprisingly mild spicy. Almost feels like curry, which can be a lil overwhelming if youre not sharing your bowl.Service was good and thankfully we managed to get seats at the counter despite walking in for dinner on a public holiday. Although it seems like most of the customers came in by reservation so probably better to make reservation earlier as the restaurant isnt that big. More than enough bicycle parking space outside as well. Would definitely return again! :)
MoreQuiet ambience. Small place but good one.Food options are limited in veg and chicken. We ordered 3 bowls for 5ppl. It was quite heavy. Fried chicken was good in starters.Japanese beer n lytchee soda was good..!Moreover waiting time was way too much. Even to serve starter. Food taste is also ok ok.. one time go place if u wanna try japanese cuisine unless u r into japanese food.
MoreIn Tensai Ramen you can find a variety of ramen and plates typical of the japanese cuisine. The mix flavors is really great, the egg, algae and pork make a good combination with the delicious pork broth they serve. The price is very good and you get a lot of food, even to share a little bit to try different ramens with your friend. The decoration of the place is astounding. Loved the wallpaper and the huge bonsai trees near the tables. Totally a recommended place, specially the Tonkotsu ramen.Great environment, huge plates and friendly staff. If you like ramen, Definitely a place to visit in Rotterdam.
MoreOne of the best Ramen that I ever tried!Takoiaky was also a great choice for starters with guyoza.Totally recommend this delicious food and friendly staff.
MoreHaving tried so many different bowls of ramen in my life all over the whole including Japan, this is definitely one of the most delicious and authentic bowl of ramen I have ever had.Had the black tonkotsu and the broth was thick and flavourful. In the bowl, I could feel that every ingredient was perfectly thought out and executed. Loved the thin noodles that picked up so much of the broth as I inhaled it (made in house!). The charsiew were all well flavoured, thinly sliced with a good amount of fats. Bamboo shoots were crunchy and not too over cooked. And there’s the soft sous vide onsen egg. The cherry on top of all this is that they even have Kirin draught! Is there even a 6 star option?!
MoreReally 5++ if allowed! In the past few years we have seen quite a number of ramen restaurants in Rotterdam and other large cities in the Netherlands. Tensai Ramen stands out...and I could see why. The location in the city centre is perfect and so were the chicken karaage (crispy from the outside, succulent insideand the tan tan ramen. The service was welcoming and outstanding. Another star for the friendliest staff. Highly recommended and cant wait to return
MoreFOOD & DRINKSI had the Black Tonkotsu Ramen and here are my thoughts about it as someone who has eaten a lot of ramen around the world. The marinated ramen egg was simple perfection. The egg yolk was smooth and silky. Most ramen restaurants tend to make the egg too salty or dont marinate it at all. Soup base was ok but the noodles had a smell I disliked a lot. I know this smell from some noodles that are made in China. I would like to know the manufacturer of the noodles if they were produced in Japan so I can import them and check them out myself. Please be aware that this is a personal issue and can be very different for each person. Overall the ramen was alright.SERVICEVery friendly and lovely staff. We felt very welcome. Thank you.ATMOSPHEREI have seen pictures of them renovating the place. I highly suggest that you reserve a table on the left side where the kitchen is. Very cozy, modern atmosphere there. The area on the left when you enter the restaurant needs a bit more love. Looks very cold and unfinished.RATINGI gave them four stars because I hated the noodles and because I had better versions of my ramen. That said this is purely my opinion and I would suggest you give them a try and see for yourself because it can be very different for you.NOTEThank you very much for your friendly reply and the provided information. The noodle type was not the issue. I am very familiar with Hakata noodles. I have eaten a lot of them in my travels. The smell was the main issue which I cant adjust unless you make them especially for me. I never had that smell in any Hakata noodles I had from Japanese restaurants owned by Japanese around the world. That said, I hope to come back some day and try out something new. Again thank you for your time to reply to my review.
MoreAbsolutely delicious!I would 100% recommend this restaurant, if youre a first time ramen eater like myself. This cosy restaurant will make you feel welcomed and they make sure you are fed and happy!I ordered the Wakame Salad and the Karashibi Miso Ramen, and I was nearly bursting by the seam from how full I was and utter foodie happiness. All that that delicious food for under 20€...!I will definitely be revisiting soon again.
MoreVery casual and modernly decorated restaurant with a great line-up of appetizers and Ramen Bowls!Youre more than full after an appetizer and bowl accompanied by a drink off the menu.We did have to remind them of our drink order after we received our appetizers, but other than that the experience was definitely worth it!
MoreThe best ramen in town! Very friendly and kind people and the food is just awesome. Definitely coming back to try the other ramen dishes
MoreWent to Tensai Ramen on a rainy summer day. Took the black tonkotsu ramen and I must say, this ramen was amazing! Texture of the soup was really creamy, the pork char siu was very delicate and the egg was perfect. Service was also great! Thank you!
MoreVery delicious, very rich and creamy tonkotsu ramen. I find the noodles better than Takumi, it soaks so much more flavour.I have eaten takoyaki in every ramen restaurant I could find, so far this might be the closest I have found to the authentic one in Japan.I also want to mention that their interior is pleasing to the eye, whoever designed this place really knew what they were doing.
