The temple is still under construction and it’s entirely covers with scaffolding. Hard to see any details. There are some historic buildings open for self guided tours. There are many volunteers who will answer questions. Worth the time.

Beautiful building, although they are doing construction on the main cathedral there is a secondary smaller cathedral that is still amazing to view/take pics. The cult like ambiance really sets the mood when speaking with the members too. Also be careful parking nearby this place, our car got keyed real bad and we parked in front of where the tram stops about a half block away.

Nice, beautiful architecture. Beautiful grounds. I came late about 7 pm. So my pictures maybe a bit dark. I need to go earlier. I hear there is a band playing at noon everyday. Very disappointed no one came to covert me!! Kidding. There was a nice couple that meet me to say hello. Very welcoming.

I just strolled around Temple Square with some friends. They are nice people and the grounds were beautiful. We went right before close during a less busy time of the year. The fall colors and old buildings were beautiful, especially in comparison to one another. I know they do annual Christmas lights every year and they are always so pretty. If you are going just for the sights alone I would definitely recommend this location. If you have any interest in the religion, they will tell you all about it. There is a visitor center which is informative. I will say I am biased positively towards many religions, nevertheless, the service missionaries here are nice and as far as a good place to visit is concerned I would definitely recommend this location. It is a very calm, quiet and peaceful atmosphere in the heart of a busy city. Would recommend.

Love this place and made a special visit to salt Lake City to show friends around I was extremely disappointed to find the whole area blocked off and the gardens ripped out and everything under redevelopment apparently its going to take until 2025 to complete

Temple square is a mess right now. The only 2 buildings that are still intact with beautiful gardens are the Tabernacle and the Assembly Hall. The Temple is being made earthquakes resistant and refurbished and has scaffolding surrounding it: plus the spires have been removed. We went to the Tabernacle to hear the 5 Tabernacle Organists and the Cathedral Organist perform. It was a delightful evening of organ music. The Tabernacle Organ is a fine instrument, the Tabernacle acoustics are phenomenal for organ music and the 6 organists are among the top organizers on earth.

I enjoyed touring very much. I have wanted to visit for many years. The smiling faces of the Latter days saints and conversing with them made it all the more pleasurable! I will have to come again to hear the choir and unfortunately there was alot of refinishing going on as the entire temple was surrounded by scaffolding and the spires where removed. No problem whatsoever though I eagerly await my next trip to Salt Lake City!

There is so much rich history here... be it UT State History, or the History of the LDS church. There are tons of missionaries milling around anxious to answer questions and give tours... a very neat experience.

A must stop for ANYONE visiting Salt Lake City! The best time to come is around Christmas at night. Absolutely magical. And the feeling there is almost tangible. What the early pioneers sacrificed in order to build the structures there is extraordinary.

Went to visit the Temple Square and we were a little bit disappointed. The buildings around the area a beautiful, outside and indoors but the main temple was being worked on, steeples had been removed and we had to go around the construction area.

Such a shame the temple was under construction so could not witness in its full glory, however the square is still worth the visit. Its a peaceful area which provides an opportunity to reflect, or even if youre not spiritual its still a nice area to walk around. The sisters are on hand to answer any questions you have and Id urge you to take the time to hear their stories, and about the area. I promise theyre not going to try and force their views upon you, Im not overly religious but I always enjoy talking to the LDS missionaries wherever I go.The tabernacle is worth visiting inside, even if only to hear the demonstration of the acoustics which are mind boggling!

This was one of the creepiest places I have ever visited. It is beautiful and terrifying. They parade around late teenage girls who are all programmed to ask identical questions, in the same tone while smiling and trying to give you a Book of Mormon. "Hello, can I help you? Are you familiar with the Book of Mormon? Where are you from?"I left my visit shaking. I had a visceral fight or flight response, adrenaline pumping and heart racing. I cant describe it. It was too clean, too robotic, too cookie cutter. Something is very wrong with this place.

What a beautiful and solemn experience. We were in Salt Lake City for one day and, at the end of the day, we heard that the Choir was practicing. So we raced to hear them. Beautiful and inspiring.07/08/2022 EDIT: Please be aware that the main temple is currently being renovated/reinforced. So, it is covered with scaffolding and the towers are gone.

Great place to come visit and tour. If you want to see the old tabernacle, be aware that door 11 is open. It was hard to see the temple well under all the scaffolding, but it was amazing to see the construction of the many basements they are adding on. Street parking was free on Sundays so that was nice as well.

The Salt Lake Temple is being renovated. The renovation project is inthe third year. Over the past two years, two tower cranes were erected on the north and south sides of the temple. These cranes have been used for various purposes, such as removing stones from the walls and towers. Temple Square is well worth a visit, and visitors can go inside the Tabernacle. There are church volunteers available for any questions.

Temple square is under construction. The temple is girded by scaffolding and there is a lot of excavation going on in the grounds. I think the restoration is planned for a few more years so a trip there might be better postponed.

Made this my first stop while visiting Salt Lake City. Did not know what to expect, so went in with an open mind. Although it is an area of worship for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), it was a very welcoming area for all visitors regardless of personal or religious beliefs. The grounds and various buildings are beautiful. While speaking to the many missionaries on the grounds or inside the buildings, they were all very pleasant, knowledgeable, welcoming, and full of information. The voluntary conversations were never a push of the LDS religion, but pleasant conversations about life, history, backgrounds, values, reason for visiting, answering any questions about LDS, and anything that would naturally come up in conversation.I was able to listen to a 30 minute organ recital which consisted of about 5 different pieces that were explained by the organist. The organist did a great job of explaining the pieces, but also demonstrating the acoustics of the Tabernacle. It was a very peaceful experience listening to the recital.Regardless of faith, beliefs, spirituality, or religion, I would recommend visiting the Temple Square as it was a very welcoming and enjoyable experience.

This is the worst tourist trap you could fall into. This place although nice to walk around and enjoy the surroundings is engineered as a missionary playground weather you’re a member of the church or not expect to be stopped by missionaries and asked for referrals and questioned about your beliefs. If you’re really that interested in the history of the place, you can get a free whitewashed tour by the said missionaries. They will be all around since Temple square as small as it is, it is its own mission area.

Beautiful grounds and Temple, as expected. Unfortunately, we arrived too late to get inside, however, the Temple and Tabernacle are open to the public during the day if you get there before 5 pm. There were several groups of young women walking the grounds and offering to answer questions (apparently on a mission to the Temple).

The Temple, Library, Conference Center and Tabernacle are historical and great. Guided tour and recital made the visit interesting. Missed the inside view of the Temple as it is under construction and not open. The garden around the Temple is colorful and beautiful. Two hour free parking at the Creek Parking makes it easy to visit.

Temple Square is a great place to visit. The gardens are simply lovely. You get to learn more about this “American religion” that Joseph Smith founded and Brigham Young led to this very location. I enjoyed discussing with my family how this group clearly deviates from orthodox Christianity as we toured the grounds. At the moment the square is partly under a Temple renovation but it’s still worth a visit. A SLC must see attraction!!

Love the history and all the stories. The pioneers were amazing architects. Is was so interesting to see all the amazing buildings. The missionaries that serve here to help are so awesome and friendly. Love to speaking with every one of them as we went around the area. Was so excited to know that even though most of the places are closed that they can do virtual tours that will enable us to see inside. Set one up with one of the missionary sets and hope to be able to do several more. Had such a great feeling while we were here.
