Creative vegan chow with fresh juice drinks, beer & wine, dished up in hip, modern environs.
Absolutely devastated that this place has closed. Their food was always amazing- in particular their mac n cheese was so tasty as were their Jack fruit bites. Was such a cool vibe and was reasonably priced for such tasty vegan food in London. I hope they pop up somewhere else!
Im not vegan Preston, c therefore fishers were new to me. I had fun guessing what are dishes made of.Some imitations really amazed me:sausage - sleeps like sausage, taste little sausage. Slight aftertaste of vegetable. Fantastico!Stirred eggs: yellow, texture matches perfectly and the taste is identical.Pancakes: have no idea what are they made of. I would say is a mix of pancakes and cookie mix. I needed a cappuccino. Quite dry.Im one of those people who dont understand why you need imitate spending you dont want to eat, but imitation blew my mind!
Staff is super friendly and professional. We have eaten here on a few occasions and the food was nice but not outstanding like last time. Something has changed a little since we last came here. They still do good vegan food choices. Love the restaurant ‘s bar very relaxed atmosphere and great location.
Went for my daughters eighteenth birthday and was not disappointed. The service was good but not exceptional. The food however was exceptional: the nachos were the best we had ever tasted; the mains were amazing. We all tried each others and couldnt pick the best of a great bunch. Only a couple of us had dessert as the portion sizes were great. Coffee and drinks were also good. And best of all the bill wasnt any more than you would pay in a chain restaurant. I would recommend anyone searching this place out
This place is absolutely Vegan amazing. The food is delicious and staff really friendly. The gluten free doughnuts are awesome too. Fun tropical wallpaper in the bathrooms and funky neon signs 😍
Very friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. The juices were the best thing absolutely delicious. The mains were ok the Budha bowl was nice but just items placed in a bowl no cooking easily done at home. The mash was lovely but the sausages were bland. My nephew ordered rice pudding for dessert he hates coconut but nowhere did it say that it was made with coconut milk. We swapped as my chocolate tart was far too dense and strong , in the end he left that too. Nice teas. The drinks and staff were better than the food. It is also quite pricey
first and foremost, vegan is not a kitsch fad or alternative way of eating anymore. SO as soon as patrons and restaurants starting treating vegan food just like other grown up food the better. The chefs take the same or more amount of time to make the dishes special and people are carrying on just like if they were eating at other local places. That out of the way, the food here at Tell Your Friends was really good, they are using almond and cashew incredibly well. Highlights: beetroot wellington, tofu scramble, and mashed avocado to name a few. They also cook with an abundance of vegetables, which is the main point. Sadly the atmosphere was not as sophisticated as the food. The music was loud and vocal, when will restaurants learn that people dont go to restaurants to listen to the radio or have sing-a-longs. They go to meet friends and enjoy each others company. What about instrumental jazz or lounge to have people talking and "vibing". And finally, what is it with bright lights in the evening? Make the place cozy, turn the lights down and chill. They have nice tables, chairs, and lamps, but they jack up the WHITE light, doesnt make it cozy. The menu is so strong and it is in a great location, now step up your game and make people know that eating vegan is smart, mature, and the real deal. At least invest in some tea lights.
Hands down the best food I’ve had, 15 years vegan and I’ve never had mushrooms the way they do it!Recommend the mushroom chop.A solid 10/10 from me!
My boyfriend and I dined in for his birthday last and night and had the most amazing time. Right from when we walked in we were early for our booking but got seated straight away. Friendly staff, so professional. The jackfruit chicken was incredible, the camembert was delicious but we cannot get over the Mushroom Chop. Highly recommend, the red wine jus is to die for! For desert, the sticky toffee and choc orange tart was amazing. Special shout out to our waitresss, they made the experience! Love your work and love this Vegan movement :)
Lovely place with lots of green plants around you, feels like a little garden. Food very tasty and the staff very friendly and attentive. Would recommend and definitely go back for the dessert, we had no chance to try this time.
Delicious vegan food, the friendliest staff and a lovely atmosphere. There are a lot of options that imitate traditional food so my non-vegan friends like it too. The only thing it may be missing is a variety of healthy, not processed options but there are a couple so its only a problem if you go as often as I do.
VeganGreat burger, simple and filling. The fries are super salty... just the way I like them. Ill have to stop back and try their vegan wine selection! Waitstaff friendly and efficient.
What a lovely little treat. Have never eaten in a vegan restaurant before and, to be honest, I didnt realise it was vegan when I went in. Great menu, relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff made for an enjoyable meal. My only mistake was not to be more adventurous with my order.Thank you for a fab time.
Great service, food, atmosphere... Expensive, and worth it. Had some really nice red wine as well. All above average quality amongst the all-vegan London eateries Ive experienced in the 14 months Ive been here so far. Ill be back.
Amazing place, friendly and welcoming staff and atmosphere. The food is delicious. Especially the baba ganoush dip is to die for! 🙂 I had the Mediterranean salad and wasnt disappointed, I loved that it had roasted peppers, reminded me of my home country cuisine. Thank you for the awesome experience! Will come back for sure.
Came here twice, once for brunch and once for dinner, and both times the service and food have been excellent! The staff are some of the friendliest people I’ve encountered in a restaurant. The restaurant is dog friendly and their coconut flat white is fab! One of my favourite places for vegan food in London!
Complete rip-off.Just tried their food for the first time and realise you come and pat for the hype. £70 for afternoon tea, supposedly one of their main events this month.Sandwich were mainly bread (white breadand quite boring - and the pastries were tasteless and way too sweet. The service was poor and despite expressing my huge deception, nothing was done except a fake « sorry about that ».Will never come back here again. Very upset and disappointed.
Been here a few times, but not happy that they keep on changing their menu so often. The dishes I like are not there the next time which is disappointing. Last time, I was not happy with the quality overall, nachos were soggy and nothing special. Also, there were many flies in this place which was super annoying. Service is as always friendly. Hopefully you can bring a better vegan menu which is consistent. Food experience at my last visit my not nice at all and would have given you 1 star but as I support the Vegan movement I give you 3 stars because service was friendly.
Nice decor and atmosphere. Excellent full English to exceed any meat based alternative.
Took my girlfriend here for a surprise Sunday vegan lunch after wanting one for ages. TYF London is the place to go for it.With three different roast options you can go for what you like, and still feel good about it. Flavour is perfect, you wouldn’t believe it’s vegan. I had the Seitan and loved it, she had the lentil roast which was almost like stuffing.Restaurant is really nice, we booked ahead for the Sunday, they do have non-booked seating but no harm in doing so if you’re planning a visit. All the options are vegan, drinks, puddings etc so it’s a must go for anyone on a plant based diet.Definitely going back here
The falafel was so dry and crumbly, the beans on the nachos was tasteless, the plantain chips were soggy and oily and the jack fruit bun was way way too sweet. To be fair the chips were alright but thats about it! We were there for 2 hours and had 4 different servers serving us and often forgetting something. There are better/more authentic vegan places that dont have wannabe ppl documenting every bite on IG.
Phenomenal place for brunch, so much choice in plant based foods, a bit worried others might tell their friends :)
Loved it! Cute place in a nice area. Delicious food and friendly staff. My phone was low on charge and noticed that they had sockets for plugs and chargers, so you could bring a laptop with you to work too. Thought of literary everything. Love that it is all vegan too :cant wait to go back
Really nice all vegan Sunday roast! Cosy atmosphere and friendly staff!
Great food and service! I was accidentally charged twice by the waitress and she resolved super well. The food was good and healthy. I recommend it! Good portion too.
The restaurant has a lovely warm atmosphere and decor so I had high expectations which weren’t met. The staff were inattentive, the gnocchi I had was very dry and the mac n cheese didn’t have the indulgent feel I was hoping for. For a delicious vegan meal I would suggest Wulf and Lamb in Chelsea instead.
Average. The food was good pub food at best, I doubt anyone would be talking about this restaurant if it wasnt vegan. Best dishes I had were the Gyoza and the padron peppers which would be vegan anywhere.Worst dish I had was the peanut butter Blondie. It was microwaved to within an inch of its life, radioactively hot when served and dry as sand paper. Felt like a mouthful of dust and the ice cream was tasteless.Nothing ground-breaking here but on the plus side it does show non-vegans how you can eat "normal" food as a vegan. To sum up... Dont expect too much, the food was ok, sevice was ok, setting and atmos both nice.
Amazing cafe and a great addition to the area. Very good food and coffee selection Vegan burger out of this world! I am not vegan and loved it. Staff are friendly and helpful. Its very popular so make sure to book for weekend brunches/lunches.
Only just discovered this restaurant and very glad that I did! Went on Sunday for the vegan roast, which did not disappoint. The roasts even came with very good vegan yorkshire puddings made with aquafaba! Seedlip cocktails and puds great too and the staff were brilliant. Will have the full english breakfast next time!
Delicious and filling food. Made my first week going vegan an absolute pleasure 😀
It’s always nice to discover new places to eat and a good vegan place is rare. This was a really nice find, delicious food (highly recommend the mushroom dumplingsservice with a smile and a cozy and elegantly decorated space. I am definitely going back.
Second visit to Tell Your Friends and we were not disappointed. We had the Seitan roast, which was delicious. The best vegan roast we have tasted. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxing with excellent service from all the staff. We will be back again and would highly recommend.
I came for Sunday brunch at noon and had sourdough bread with avocado, mushrooms and aubergine bacon. The food was full of flavour so top marks for that. Unfortunately the ackee eggs had already run out. My friend had a cold pressed green juice and it must have been made with lots of ice as it was very watery. Despite this, we both agreed the food is definitely worth returning for.
Really wanted to try this place out as Im a fan of Lucys and really love vegan food. They have some good options on the menu although unfortunately didnt have some available at the time. Some items were good like the nachos and dumplings but others like the mac and cheese were not for me. I would recommend the beetroot latte - it was delicious and nothing like Ive tried before. Glad I tried it as the venue is lovely. The decor is nice and the staff are very nice and polite.
Hi had delicious lunch here today. My first time. Lovely comfortable seating and fab decor. It’s was friendly and we got good service. I opted for the raw lasagna. It’ has inspired me to do more vegan dishes in our own restaurant. We have a vegan pizza 🍕 on the menu but should expand for sure.
Meh.The decor is gorgeous and very well done , and the menu options are great. Its really let down by the service. We had two waiters - apart from leaving us to fend for our selves for a while and find menus ourselves, and a delay in getting drinks to us, the female was brilliant and very friendly with a good attitude. The male was pretty miserable and uninterested, and then was visibly irritated by me having to put my hand up to get his attention after a long period of not having our order taken. The food portions were really too small considering the price, especially the chicken bites (delicious - but cost over £1 per tiny bite at £7 total. The Food wasnt ground breaking - the moving mountains burger would not sustain a man, and the chips were a little soggy. My boyfriend had one of the salad bowls and that looked a lot better than the two burgers we ordered. Then the crumble came out without ice cream, I sent it back for it to be added, and when it came back out was cold - not just a little bit of lost heat, it had been out for ages. Shame because it looked like a good crumble.I feel that this place is really let down by complacent staff and prices that dont fit portion sizes, and I would be reluctant to re-visit unless I was sure things had improved.
Tell Your Friends not to bother. To be fair, the burger (Moving Mountains pattywas great though it had too much gunk in it. The service was friendly enough but slow & they kept getting our drinks and food wrong. The staff really seemed disinterested in being there. The chips (that looked & tasted like really cheap frozen oneswere undercooked which we sent back and took ages to get replaced. The desserts (cheesecake & peanut butter browniewere absolutely terrible - they were decent enough to remove the brownie from the bill. On a Sunday afternoon at 1.30pm, they had already many items on the menu unavailable - from drinks to mains and desserts. They were also using an old out of date menu & they got our bill wrong. The whole place seems terribly unprofessional. Our total for 2 x burgers, desserts, cocktails & coffee (no winewas about £80 which for the quality was way too expensive. Not going back I’m afraid.
I was invited to come here by my two non vegan friends. Well the name of the restaurant is synonymous to such an occasion. They happened to live close by and thought it would be cool to invite me, since I was vegan.I called to make a reservation the day before. Arrived at the restaurant and low and behold they didnt have my booking... So we waited, even though they had many empty tables and were finally sat down somewhere in a dark corner next to the kitchen. I guess they were fully booked with over half their tables empty.I ordered fish and chips, while my non vegan friends, burgers. We shared a starter. The service was awful. The waitress had a moody face as though she had been shouted at all morning from the chefs. The service was extremely extremely slow. With over half the tables empty, I wondered if they had gone to the farm to collect the vegetables because they had run out. A good 30 minutes later the starter arrived. We tried to eat slowly as we were fearful that the main would take another painstaking wait. And our nightmare came to pass, another 30 minutes later, the mains came out.My friend said the burger was ok. I had the fish and chips. The chips and the fish were way too dry, I think the chef left it in the oven too long.We left extremely disappointed, an overpriced and terrible experience. I wouldnt tell me enemies about this place, let alone my friends. There are many cheaper and better vegan restaurants now. I think the owners probably dont know much about vegan dining.
Ive been to Tell Your Friends twice and would throughly recommend it. Ive read other reviews that mention small portions, but the portions were really generous. My fiancé and I struggled to finish two starters and two mains! The jackfruit Chicken bites and fish and chips are delicious, well definitely visit again to try the Moving Mountains burger. The staff are really friendly and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. I just wish theyd open another branch in south east London!!
Brilliant vegan cafe. Our new go-to haunt. Tried the Chicken Bits, Japanese raw bowl, Moving Mountains burger, Red Velvet Doughnut and the Peanut Butter Blondie.
Amazing vegan food! Would highly recommend this place, it has a really cool vibe and perfect for a date night. The mac and cheese is incredible, and they make their own vegan cheese (the smoked cheddar is unreal!). The portions are a little on the small size considering the price, but still amazing food.
Great food, fantastic staff and a beautifully set up restaurant. (Came here twice now, with kids ages 7and 5, none of us are vegan.... ). All really loved it and will come back soon. Easy to park too.
An Instagrammars dream!!! Let’s talk about the space first coz let’s face it the owner and decor is the MAIN attraction! Tiled floors, neon quotes galore, cactus adorned walls and and the whole copper marble shbang... it’s got it all! Take ya phone to the loos!!The food is great too! For aMeat eater I was a bit sceptical .... but TYF really has been inventive in their dishes... Ackee fruit cooked to resemble scrambled eggs and tomato cut to resemble salmon?!?!?? But.... it works! The cocktail menu is short but sweet! The staff are friendly and again, make sure you have a full phone battery 😂 xx
Didn’t know vegan food can taste this good!! I had egg avocado toast it’s so well seasoned and full of flavour! The portion is a little too much though! Felt bad couldn’t finish everything. Really nice interior and super chilled brunch place. Love the cocktails too. My friend took me while I was back in London for a week and it was definitely one of the highlights of my trip home!
I had lunch here today and ordered the Buddha bowl - it was a big serving and delicious! Super excited that there is a local, high quality vegan restaurant to go that has cocktails and wine! Not sure what all the negative comments are about, I had great service and will definitely be coming back.
Exceeded expectations- with still room for improvements.I never write reviews for places to eat. But after reading all the negative reviews below I felt encouraged to set the record straight for all those who are planning on visiting this quirky vegan food placeI am a meat eater, but I love animals. Meat, cheese, eggs, milk are my weaknesses.I dragged my better half who is also a meat eater and who was quite apprehensive about going to his first vegan restaurant as he didnt know what to expect. The hostess was attentive, polite, knowledgeable and gave us a warm welcome. The restaurant was smaller than expected and it was fairly busy. I have a dairy intolerance and love mac n cheese- I must say it was yummy- needed to add pepper but was pretty much as close to the warm fuzzy feeling you get from having homey food. Although I couldnt really taste the vegan bacon....We shared a number of small plates- I highly recommend Arancini- it was so yummy- even my other half was gobbling it up and said it tasted like fish cakes. He had the fish and chips- which he enjoyed- I think the aubergine really went well with it. albeit the size of the vegan fish a tad smaller than expected. I think the tartar sauce could improve. The vegan fish size could be bigger. Chicken bites went very well with the bbq sauce.Wine was okay. The cloth serviette added a lovely luxury touch. The dessert I think I was most disappointed with..I was looking forward it the most because of my lactose intolerance. The price we paid for the cheesecake almost £8? tasted really bland-no sweetness- and the berry sauce was abit sharp for me- perhaps can add caramel instead? However on that note my other half finished it for me and seemed to enjoy it! (he even finished his apple pie dessert)The toilet had a lovely design, full length mirror, lovely touches of the tap and the pulling flush. Although one cubicle ran out of toilet paper...All in all, we had a really good time. I would recommend and so would the other half.I hope this helps with your decision to check out this quirky vegan restaurant :)
Excellent vegan cooked breakfast and a really creative and exciting menu. Staff were all very friendly and it was a lovely spot to have brunch on a sunny Sunday morning. Looking forward to my next visit.
Lovely new spot. Simple and honest small dishes and nibbles. Very good cocktails. Went in in a group of 4 and shared food. The cocktails were nice. We had the chicken bites, fries, bread & olives Mac and cheese and rice ball. Some dishes were surprisingly tinsy (friesand others good for sharing ( chicken bites, bread and olives, mac & cheese). All in all its good to go to try it, after this its more about the ambiance. This would be a prefect get together spot to meet with friends if I lived around but I dont. The decor was very pretty (massive attention to details), good effort for the food (good taste and satisfyingservice was pleasant but could have been faster and more attentive but overall good. Thanks guys for accommodating us and our laptops 😉.
Went there for lunch today and was really excited. I ordered a Buddha bowl and my boyfriend ordered the sweet potato toast with mushrooms. The presentation was lovely for the Buddha bowl but had absolutely no flavours and was really bland. The tofu had been marinated in soy but not enough as there was no depth of flavour. The sweet potato toast dish looked very sparse and again, had no flavour or depth to it- very disappointing as we had high expectations.
So confused by the negative comments... genuinely think these people have never actually been to TYF and are trolling, because portion sizes were great, staff were great, food was great, prices were more than reasonable.I’m not vegan, but could honestly go that way if I could eat like this everyday! I’ve eaten at a lot of vegan spots all over London and this is definitely one of the best I’ve been to.Chicken bites - best chicken imitation chicken I’ve ever had.Arancini - unreal. Tasted soooo cheesy.Scallops - beautiful.Fish and chips - again, the best imitation fish I’ve ever had.Our waitress Kimaya was amazing. Extremely welcoming, chatty and sweet. Super attentive. Just adorable. The interior is gorgeous. Every area has a slightly different look/vibe but it all flows perfectly. Looks like a lot of time and thought went into it.Apart from a missing handle on a toilet chain, could not fault it!
