Tehran Cafe - Persian restaurant in Winnipeg, Canada
Yummy Middle East Food. One of the best places to eat in Winnipeg.
Well prepared tasty matinated and grilled kababs matched with fluffy rice and carbonated yugort drink with a hint of mint. Staff were very polite and friendly.
The food was very delicious, we had starters and mains. Everybody was also very friendly.
Ah a taste of the nicest country in west Asia. Good food and friendly service.
Thru Doordash: 3x plates & the value isnt there. Cooked well but the sides were clearly cheap & simple. Not what one would expect at this price point. I want to share the photo!!!
Excellent food and lovely staff. The ghormeh sabzi is fabulous, the chicken kebab, zereshk and falafel also got thumbs up.
Quality Persian food. If youre looking for some mouthwatering Kebabs in the city thats where you can get them.
This is our first visit Tehran Cafe and we ordered a Baghali polo with shank and a Salad Shirzai. The food taste very good however the salad is slightly too sour for us( just our own taste doesn’t mean it’s not good ;). Definitely would come again for a second try!
For those who are familiar with Iranian foods, Ghorme Sabzi is strongly recommended. As the second option , I would go for Kebab.Overall, cozy place to hang out, respectful staff, domestic videos on the TV which is fun.Compared to most of halal foods in the city I have tried, its one of the best, moneywise + food quality.
It’s amazing food but I wish the prices were little lower
Slow-cooked lamb: Excellent. Must try. 10/10Lamb kebab: A bit dry and salty. 8/10Chicken kebab: Very dry. 6/10Shallot yogurt: Delicious. Needs a bit more shallot though. 9/10
The main courses are very good. The desert a bit dry and frozen feel
The food here is excellent. If you have never tried Persian food before, this is the place to go to. I give it 5 stars and would give them a Michelin rating if I could.
Tehran Cafe is a nice place. The owner is a true gentleman. Has a smile on his face, greets people warmly and makes an effort to listen to what you need. I am a happy customer.
Very good and friendly staff. The food quality is amazing.
Very tasty food! Big portions & great quality!
Best persian food I’ve ever tried all over the canada. All the best for you
My friend recommended this place and it has become one of our regular eat-out spots. I have to warn you that you should never come here unless you are starving because the food portions are big and the quality is very fresh and tasty. You will never want to stop eating. Staff are friendly and check up on you lots. Interior is always very clean and has authentic Iranian atmosphere. Feels like you are travelling but for free. Koobideh Kabob is our go-to item if you want to have a nice filling meal without breaking your budget. The meat is very juicy and nicely seasoned and comes with heaping portion of chelow (rice). I highly recommend this place to others.
Loved this place. I went with my family for lunch. The food are really good, we can taste every ingredient in ours plates. The lamb slow cook was the preferred, really the meat was so soft and delicious. The rest of the dishes as Vaziri Kabob and Gheymeh Bademjaan well as the attention of the waiters was great. I recommend this place for familys and any person that want to know the Persian food.
Had it many times, very good
We ordered chicken and koobideh kebab. The quality was great and my family deeply enjoyed. The rice was well cooked with saffron decorate. I would strongly recommend this great restaurant.
What an unexpected gem! This was our first time in Winnipeg, and we decided to check out this place. You usually don’t expect Persian food this good outside Toronto or Vancouver, but this place proved me wrong. The owner of the place is a friendly and pleasant man, and the service was fast and professional. I highly recommend this place.
Edit 2: The owner honored their replacement promise and during my 2nd try of their food its better then the first. This restaurant is delicious. I would recommend not to order through door dash and just eat in the store or pickup. The meat is very smokey from the flame grilling, and the middle eastern spices are well pronounced when served fresh to you.Amazing customer service on their part. Appreciate the owners efforts.Edit 1: Owner has agreed to create a resolution will update review depending how it goes.It looks fantastic but taste bland and dryAbsolutely unacceptable for something that costs $20I had to add my own seasoning to make it edible. Highly disssapointing.
Great, high quality, and healthy food for a fair price!
Tehran cafes greatest strength is their kebabs. The distinguish persian flavors with exquisite delicacy is simply mind blowing. The kebabs are soft and juicy with the perfect blend of spices.
The quality of food i have to say is average. However, i loIke the persian foods and there is not other restaurant in the town to offer persian foods.
The food is seasoned well. Their lamb and also beef kabobs are very good. With the order you receive a large portion of saffron rice, a grilled roma tomato, and a couple pieces of cucumber, lettuce, and (I thinksliced up beets. They have a nice variety of teas to order. They also have burgers and kabob wraps.
Nice and clean place. Authentic Iranian food. The (کشک بادمجانmashed eggplant appetizer was Okay, but the pitta bread accompanied with it was too little. I would go there again.
Nice hole in the wall family run Persian restaurant. Authentic food, ample servings, the food is delicious. Wear a warm layer for winter visits as they have a bustling take out service.
By far one of my favourite restaurants in the city. Everything is always fresh, tasty and authentic. I eat/order from here a lot and have never been disappointed. 10/10 by far.
First time tried their food through door dash.Food taste - AmazingFood portion - very adequatePackaging - microwavable boxesMeat - Amazing quality in all of Winnipeg (lamb shank)Overall - If you try, you will definitely be satisfied,
Second visit. This time we sampled all four of the kebabs, and enjoyed each one. Each had their own distinctive flavour, all were very tasty, and the meat was tender. Interesting desserts too.
The food was so good. The only issue I had is that you menu prices are totally different from the actual price. They informed me after paying about when I was doing the math, they said they didnt update the price on the menu. Please update the price.
I have the customer of Tehran Cafe since its opening. I have tried all of their menu and all of them are fantastic. Besides outstanding food quality, they have a warm and friendly welcoming environment and you feel at home. Thanks to be there for all Winnipeg people.
I got the chicken kebab wrap (pick up orderand found it a good portion size, with yummy chicken and a unique sauce. The ambiance was cozy as I waited and the staff were helpful. Looking forward to trying other parts of their menu in the future.
Delicious, generously sized meals. The chicken kebab has amazing flavor, and is always cooked to perfection. My mom loves the baklava, so I have to get some whenever I order. Keep up the great work!
Almost two weeks ago, I ordered Baghali Polo with Lamb Shank & Koobideh Kabob through DoorDash. Honestly, their food quality was really good. Kabob was ok. In my opinion, they can improve the taste by adding more spices. But the funny thing is, I ordered rice items and they didn’t even bother to give me any cutlery or napkins at all. Very poor customer service.
Excellent service as always, they do go the extra mile with their portion sizes. Ive tried almost every dish here (which are all great btwand the Zereskh Polo by far my favorite (personal opinion). Ive been there customer for more than two years.
Best chicken and rice dish in town. The quality is really good and the taste is so authentic. Quantity is great too, one dish is enough for two people. And the price is very reasonable. Highly recommended place, their Chicken Kabob is a must try.
Being one of the only Iranian restaurants in Winnipeg, the flavor and quality of the dishes are good and provide a sense of nostalgia for ones that have lived in Iran or have tried the other Persian restaurants previously. The menu is limited and certain dishes are not prepared daily and may at times taste frozen. Even though the flavor of the dishes satisfies the craving for Persian cuisine, dishes are a bit overpriced for the portion that you receive.
So good. Food was excellent as always. Prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended . Thanks Tehran Cafe
2nd time today. Always very good and satisfying food.
Probably the best Persian food in town! Great taste and presentation, however its a bit pricey for a meal or two. I had their Koobideh with rice and fries, and my total bill was $26 with a 10% tip. Thats the only reason why I gave it 4 stars and not 5.The kebabs were very tasty and cooked well. Overall, I enjoyed my experience.
The staff was very welcoming and the food is really delicious and reasonably priced!
First, try the place out. The food is great, really good and well worth the visit, your tummy will thank you. Service, price, taste, and value make it a great place to eat. Its a tad small, looks like about 50 people max, but they also do take out.I like trying out foods, mainly because I like to eat. Ive had Persian style food before and usually liked it, but the owner claims this is the only pure completely Persian restaurant in Winnipeg, shipping in ingredients to keep it authentic too. I appreciate intelligence when I see it, and the owners claim about authenticity is verified by the fact that hes basically turned his store room into a little shop next door where you can buy not only the ingredients but some of the finished pastries as well, although I seemed to get that they were cooked off site. The dishes were vaguely familiar but they were different from any that Ive had before, and there wasnt a single thing I tried that I wouldnt happily eat again. The pictures look like they sprinkled cheese over the rice, but actually they top off the rice with a scoop of saffron cooked rice.I had the chicken, but tried my companions dishes as well. The Falafel was a bit different that Ive had elsewhere, less strong spices and more subtlety. The chicken was really good, warm tasty sauce, melt off the bones, and goes good with rice. Then I tried the beefy stew. By far the tastiest of our selections. Again, subtle but strong flavors, thick, great texture.I found everything on the menu wonderful for a cold winter night. I wonder if the menu changes in the summer.Anyways, definitely on my list to revisit. A bit hard to get to by bus, and the lot is shared by other eateries in the strip mall so parking can be difficult, but I do feel it was worth it.
The kebab and rice was plentiful and delicious. I was initially skeptical that 2 skewers of meat would be enough for dinner. Those doubts were soon put to rest when the meal came out as the meat was ample. My only suggestion would be that I love the buttery rice at Iranian restaurants. The rice here was less buttery than I have had at other similar places.
11 out of 10!My highest visited place in Winnipeg. The Viziri kabab brings me back and each time I leave more than just satisfied. I went back today and saw the item is even better prepared with more salad and the beef had an inner cheesy taste which I never experienced before. Too bad there is only one outlet in all of Winnipeg.Amazing kababs served with wonderful hospitality. The ambiance and decor are great create a feel of original Samarkand. Place is a somewhat pricy but still worth it.
Upon entering the restaurant for lunch the decor was taken in. Lama table runners, traditional pictures depicting events that had past and it felt nice being there. The host and his helper were very friendly. This was my first time at a Tehran restaurant so I wasn’t certain what the food items would consist of or taste like.I had ordered Zereshk Polo with chicken. On the first fork full of rice the flavour engulfs your pallet in a wonderful way, but eventually the barberry on top of the rice had became notably sour for me.The chicken was superb and reminded me of butter chicken, but the sauce was not as thick.I would definitely eat there again.
Best place for Persian food 👍🏼👍🏼 Great taste and very quick service. Definitely going back and highly recommended!!
Persian restaurant right by the highway which offers some of the traditional Persian dishes. There are paintings and prints from Persian mythology and poetry on the walls and they also play some pop music from PMC channel. The owner talked to us and gave us some recommendations on the places to visit after he found out we are travelers visiting from the US. The food was good and it was overall a good experience.
