Via dei Macci, 111/r, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy, Florence
Offshoot of Cibrèo restaurant offering an ample buffet of Tuscan food & wine followed by live shows.
Food was deceiving for the price
Amazing experience! Incredible Italian family style buffet coursed out for guests. I took 10 students and we had a blast. I pray this place opens back up soon. Its very sad that they are shut down currently. The food was fantastic, chefs amazing, and the entertainment after dinner was great. Please come back to us, Teatro del sale!!
TURN UP AT 7.30 to get the most for your money. Before you read any review under 5 stars, remember that there are people who wont get what a place like this is about. And thats fine, and I wont do it the injustice of trying to explain it. But if you want haute cuisine served immaculately, or new gastronomic experiences, there are many excellent other places you can go. Come here anyway though, because what you get is so much more than this. This place is nothing less than the epitome of conviviality. The owners, the waiters and the chefs have created a real community. Come and eat rabbit and drink bottomless wine and watch an excellent band of old Italian hippies play Bruce Springsteen after dinner. Applaud the young yodelling chef. For gods sake come here. this is one of the most extraordinary and special establishments you will go to in your life.
Simple but fantastic full Italian dinner that you won’t find anywhere else, followed by a fantastic performance. I’m now a proud member of this theatrical community.
If you are under the Tuscan sun and you take Florence either as a detour or a final destination, Via dei Macci-Theatro del Sale is waiting for you with it’s unique experience. Fabio Picchi, known all over the world from his habitus, voice and soul is giving memorable experience with his dinner relishing with a spectacular show with italian vitality. Endlessly dedicated, humble professionalism with traditions kept alive.Lilla FaragoFUA- Property management class,Prof. Marco De La Pierre
Perfect place to visit!
Such a great experience. The food was so tasty and the the blues band was awesome
Perfect food, show and atmosphere. We loved it very much! Great experience. Thank you
A beautiful place with a booking procedure with “membership”. It’s an experience undoubtedly and the food was amazing if you are ok with hectic, non organizational buffet where you have to almost battle for your food at the communal serving point. I was treated like a 2nd class citizen as an non Italian tourist, whereas my friend spoke Italian and they were civil to her. I understood it was to be a wholey Italian show after the meal which was no problem to me but the staff were rude and blatantly biased towards tourists even after paying over 80 euro for 2 people for this “privilege” . I never leave reviews anywhere but this one I felt compelled to. Very disappointed as this place came with high recommendation.
Warning: do yourself a big favour and avoid lunching at this place. Repeat: avoid, avoid, avoid. Do not waste your money. If you want to know why, read on.Unfortunately we were silly enough to go there for lunch, attracted by the advertised buffet meal.First, as they are a club (or some thing), you have to pay €7 each for membership. The cost of the lunch is a further €20 each. Oh well, its a buffet, so at least we can gave a good feed. How wrong we were.Variety was almost non existent and quality was poor. There was only one meat dish containing chicken, pork and roast potatoes. The meat was more than 50% fat and was served out in small portions by a surly gentleman who looked very unhappy when you returned for more. You were not able to help yourself.Dessert was a choice of whole mandarins and a bowl of plain yogurt. The red wine was sour. There were no redeeming features. Very disappointing.
Amazing place, traditional tasty and greasy Florentine cookery presented in an informal help yourself buffet. Live music or theatre follow
Members only, great local food experiences
We had a great meal. A really nice spot with a very local feel to the atmosphere. We were a little late for the show, but if we ever come back well do our best to catch that as well.
There is no other experience like this. The food, the people, the environment and even the process is fun. Definitely worth your time and money.
The food was good and the price is worth it
The food just kept coming...fun night!
Great space for performing arts and the buffet style food is excellent.
Very good special food and entertainment with music and poetry
One of a kind experience. Great food. Fun atmosphere.
Fun buffet (wine and coffee includedwhere you bus your own table plus theres enterment. This is not a place for anyone expecting table cloths and service. There is always more food than anyone can eat. We have been there 5 times and never tasted everything.
Absolutely love this place. For a small annual circo-lo membership fee you can come for lunch/brunch or the evening dinners which are always followed by some kind of show (small concerts, performances, etc). (You need to pay separately for each occasion though). The food is amazing, cooked by the famous Cibreo kitchen staff. It is served as a buffet style meal, with unlimited refills and wine. The whole place is extremely cozy, with wooden interior and books around. Plus you also get to peek inside the kitchen through a glass window. Start eating with self-control though, as more and more awesome dishes will keep coming as they are prepared! Also, subscribe to their newsletter as sometimes they have 2x1 deals.
Great communal atmosphere and food was plentiful and pretty tasty.
Very good experience cultu-culinary
Do not listen to any of the bad reviews! This place is a hidden jem in Florence and is a MUST see. The price is very good. The experience is fabulous and the food is magnificent. After you’re done with your food you get to watch someone perform while you digest. I had one of the best times in my lives here. The ambiance is fantastic. You must go!
Definitely a unique and worthwhile experience. You need a membership (modest costand reservations, but you will be treated to a multi-course, pretty much all-you-can-eat buffet dinner. Pace yourself!!! Fabulous appetizers, including some warm vegetable platters (e.g., yummy potatoes, great sweet potatoes, fabbo caramelized onions, Swiss chard, thin-sliced carrots, etc.), soup, fresh focaccia, mussels and clams, tiny fish, risotto, and a couple of entrees, followed by coffee and dessert(s). All is served in a theatre-like space with high ceilings, the space to be used after dinner for an hour or so of entertainment. The latter was okay--could have been better on our night. But the food is so good, (when its ready, a cook will holler out from the kitchen window what is coming next!), and the atmosphere so distinctive, and the pricing so reasonable, that you should have no regrets!!! Buonissimo!
Nice ambient, great food
Super
The entire evening was magnificent! This is a must when you go to Florence.$37.00 will get you a 6 course meal. The food was beyond delicious and I couldnt have asked for anything more! Be sure to either skip lunch or have a light meal because there is soooo much food during the dinner. You will be happy you did as you will want to taste everything. Youre welcome 😉
Beautiful old theater just outside downtown Florence.
Nice experience and good food!
Good food. Nice people. Great performance.
A small but significant pearl in Florence, daily you can enjoy a meal at a fair price and weekly you can have dinner and enjoying theatre performances at the same time. The theatre is MICRO literally but so cute vintage wooden dark tone furniture, you can breath the Magic acting atmosphere. Worth visiting it definitely
Buffet-style lunch is great food and an excellent value. Awesome local vibe
So much fun! A total must if you go to Florence.
This is a one of a kind experience. Its a feeding frenzy -- certainly a bit chaotic. But exciting and unique, and well worth it. The downside? Well, the wine could be better for such a price (membership fee plus dinner is about $40and the comedy show is in Italian, so we left early. Glad we had the experience, but wouldnt pay that much for it again.
Incredible experience and food. Had an absolute blast! We went for the experience more than for the food, but the food was simply amazing. We absolutely loved everything that was served, and we wished we had more of an appetite to go back for seconds as the dishes were prepared to perfection. This was followed by an excellent performance by the Nighthawks that made the night an unforgettable one.It was such a friendly and warm environment. The kitchen announcements and culture was so nice to see and made the night even better. The chicken announcement was especially awesome!
Its the place to go if you want to see the shows. The food is not worth the price. When we were served, most of the food were cold dishes.
So, we saw this place on "Ill Have What Phils Having" and we thought well have to try it. The food is fine, but weve had better in Florence in the 36 hours weve been in town. You have to fight for your "primas" (at 51 years old, Im not cool with fighting for my foodand your segundas are acceptable, but not life changing. Overall the food is good, but honestly everywhere in Florence is crazy good. Its gotta be great to go back. The entertainment, some were enjoying, but as Howards mother would say, "its not for us".
Fun and off the beaten path. The food is very good and different as is the setting. You see the cooks through windows and the call out new items as they put the platter on the buffet table. The night we were there a musician from England, who spoke Italian sang Dylan and Cash!
Cozy, delicious, and amazing experience
Not worth at all for for the price that you pay, that is my opinion. First you have to pay 7 euros to subscribe, to be a member to be able to go for dinner and the show.(you can pay those online or when you arrive there, but if you think by doing it online you will save any time or queuing do not bother ,you wontthen it will be 30€ for a buffet dinner+show. When i read that the food was nothing special i kind of assume it was not the bet but ok, that was not my experience, first they serve vegetable most plain or with vinegar , when people is hungry, its a fight to get to the food, thena bit of meat, not too good (for italyone dish of pasta which was a bit hard and at the end when you are already full because you lost any expectation of getting anything better ,we had vongole/ clams . As a foreigner you wouldnt think this is too bad for 30€ maybe, specially if you are not aware that in a lot of places on Florence from 7pm to 9pm there is something call "aperitivo " where from 8 to 10 euros you get a drink ( anyand a buffet to eat as much as you want. So this 30 euros might seem a bit abusive but then you think that they have the show too so at least is something. Be aware this show is in mostly ,apart from a couple of words, in Italian, really fast Italian, the staff would warn you about this in a way that seems more like and invitation to leave before the show start and you can bother the Italians there or at least thats how we felt it.We had the feeling since the beginning that we were not as welcome there as others ( from Italyeven though we pay the same. Trying to ask questions first in English and then in "Italian" the staff either answer rudely that they didnt understand anything, meaning leave me alone , or they simply turn around and left. So from my sentience it was a completely waste of money that I highly regret.
One of the hidden gems of Florence. Cant compare it to anything else
Great way to taste food. Get there with an empty bell and prepare to eat great food. The entry fee is around 30-35€ per person plus a membership fee. The food is a buffet, but pace your self. The chef will yell out what is being served and every one will queue at the buffet and window.
Not cheap, but worth it. Get there on time with an empty stomach for the full experience.
My wife and I came for the Sunday brunch. Once we paid the admission and the membership fees (required we were led to a table in a great hall. Immediately, we were drawn to the family style of the whole place. The hostess came specifically to our table and explained in English how everything works (she also instructed us to go light on the breads because there will be plenty of food. Soon the place was filled with families old and young, and rhe buffet table was filled with many home style dishes we had never tasted anywhere in normal restaurants. It was like a family potluck where you can sample many foods and then sit back and enjoy each others company. There were too many dishes to count but they were all tasty. The cook yelled out the main dishes to be served every once and a while. It was such an experience that I would recommend it highly for anyone. If you are a meat lover though you might be disappointed. They served the meat at the very last. By that time you would probably be stuff with all the other foods or get very irritated for having to wait 2 hours for them to come out. We didnt get to see a performance because it was a Sunday brunch. But it was fine because we get to enjoy the ambiance and watching kids running playing around us. Price wise we felt it was comparable to a U.S meal. At €27, €20 meal plus 7 membership fee, for the experience and variety of tastes, we felt it was totally worth it. If you are a foodie, it was like sampling the regions food in one stop, very satisfying.Note: the address is 111 via di macci
absolutely beautiful human experience.
Its very different place in Florence, you enter and you pay around 35€ including an annual membership. There is no menu, they just scream from the kitchen (fully visiblewhat is ready, you go to this buffet table, or you queue at the kitchen and you get the food. After dinner there is a performance either a concert or some theatrical piece (in Italian!and yes... You have to "fight for your food" but its a 5 star: its the same chef of cibreo restaurant, food is always very good (the wine is the house one, or you can buy a bottle),you share tables (enjoyable, the clients are usually upscale and having conversation with strangers is nicethey have also Sunday brunch, very Italian, dont expect bacon or pudding
Reading the other reviews, I might be an oddball; the food served at Teatro del Sale was some of the worst Ive ever eaten in Italy. 20 euro (plus an 11 euro "membership card" good for only one yeargets you all you can eat and drink, but only if youre quick to the buffet table (the bread disappeared within seconds of being put on the table). The pasta was so undercooked that it stuck to my teeth, and most other dishes were unidentifiable mush. There were a few good dishes, but I stress "few." The coffee and wine were horrid. Im not keen on paying 20 euro for very mediocre food, cheap and undrinkable wine, terrible deserts, or fighting my way through the throngs of people to try to get something to eat. Never again!
You need to be member for their dinner & concert combinations but its absolutely worth it.
nice food, great show.
