Teatro Colón - Tourist attraction in Cartagena, Colombia
One of the best memories from Buenos Aires. Amazing. Do take the guided tour.
Beautiful Theater, whose construction in the late 1800s, and in which 3 different architects participated, so it contains varied styles and details. However, it is of a particular beauty. I recommend listening to its complete history from a guide, as there are very interesting details.
Amazing architecture. So much of history and the main hall is captivating. A must see. Buy tour tickets in advance.
Amazing building. Well maintained. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and puts History into perspective and sheds light how the building came into being. The building is worth the visit.
We had a tour that was done in English. Our tour guide was very good! Great history with humour. Very beautiful theatre. Very good acoustics. You have to go and experience it yourself. Go for the tour... and get tickets to a show as well.
The guide tour of theater Colon is fun and highly recommended even if the lights are being tested. We enjoyed the tour so much we came back to attend a ballet. We had parterre center seats. We highly recommend attending a shoe in this beautiful place with a great localOrchestra and fantastic acoustic. It is one of the best things to do in BA.
Better than the guided visit is to enjoy a play, ballet or music show at the theatre. Get you ticket and blend in the local crowd. We went to a ballet and it was tremendous. The acoustics is perfect. We could hear the musicians turning the pages by the fourth floor.
Architecturaly stunning place with a very interesting history. The tour guides are very cool! The only downside is the foreigner ticket is double the price.
Had the fortune of catching a Ballet during our visit to Buenos Aires. Such a magnificent piece of history and I was amazed at how much love and care has gone into its preservation. Many younger grand theaters in the world are not in this beautiful of shape.
One of the wonders of the Southern hemispere, have to come back for an opera once!
This majestic theatre placed at yhe hart of the city has guided visits as well as their traditional ballet/symphony/opera presentations. We took the visit and left vibrating with his beauty and history.A must at least once visiting buenos aires
Most beautiful theater Ive ever been to. So glad we could snag tickets to the ballet while were visiting the city. Would highly recommend!
It is just a stunning, unbelievable precious building! It is a must even if you can not attend a show. The tour is worth it and unbelievable amazing to look at and take pictures of. The outside is beautiful but the inside is breath-taking.
I love this place, its beutifull, has an amazing acoustics. Totally worth a trip to Buenos Aires just to visit it.
Beautiful. Tours in multiple languages.
One of the most beautiful theaters.
Amazing place. We got to see opera and it was very interesting experience. The place is wonderful and the acoustic is overwhelming. Very recommended.
Breathtaking. Magnificent. Wonderful. Astonishing. Stunning Incredible.Im getting out of compliments for this place because its simply fabulous! The architecture is mind-blowing and the acoustic is pretty awesome. They even have kinda like a bar area where you can order wine, whisky, champagne, beverages and they even sell alfajores and sandwiches. You can also book a table. If you are visiting Buenos Aires then you MUST visit this theatre. Buy your tickets at least one week in advance, the locals are passionate about their culture and the tickets tend to sold out relatively fast, so expect to see this theatre completely full. The whole experience was magical and beautiful, Im sure youll love every single second of your time here.
Beautiful theater. I had a guided tour which was very instructive. The price was a bit steep. It was close to 4,000 pesos. They have a price for Argentinian and another for other passport holder. I didnt like that!
Had the guided tour on a Saturday morning. What a beautiful place! I recommend this tour to everyone. Interesting for children and adults to learn about the history of this building.
What a beautiful theatre. Ive always wanted to go to a performance and finally was able to do so. It is definitely one of the most beautiful theatres in the world.
World class icon of Italian/french architecture, ideal venue for listening to classical music.
The best theatre 🎭 in the world. The building is amazing and the acoustic cant be better. One place that you cannot miss. The Opera and Valet options are spectacular. This is a must see without a doubt.
Really just the most beautiful.I am biased since I practically live in this theatre but still, every time I walk onto stage I am overwhelmed by its immense beauty. This place is truly magical.
Wonderful tour of the opera house. Truly a stunning building and a must-do in the city. However, cost of guided tour for only 1 hour was very high especially for non-locals (2000 pesos more than for local residents). As revealed on the tour, this doesn’t seem in line with the cost of the performance tickets, which apparently start from as little as 1-2usd.
Magnificent architecture and the best acoustics in the continent. Best events are operas and symphonics. The decor is gorgeous and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Must go place, beautiful inside and out.
There are no words to describe this fantastic theater. I traveling a lot of around the world, but I think this is the best I the world. So luxury and wiht a perfect sound. Nothing that I can say it would be enough. You must visit it and watch some shows. 🇦🇷
The Teatro Colón (Spanish: Columbus Theatreis the main opera house in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is considered one of the ten best opera houses in the world by National Geographic, and is acoustically considered to be amongst the five best concert venues in the world. The present Colón replaced an original theatre which opened in 1857. Towards the end of the century it became clear that a new theatre was needed and, after a 20-year process, the present theatre opened on 25 May 1908, with Giuseppe Verdis Aïda.The Teatro Colón was visited by the foremost singers and opera companies of the time, who would sometimes go on to other cities including Montevideo, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. After this period of huge international success, the theatres decline became clear and plans were made for massive renovations. After an initial start of works to restore the landmark in 2005, the theatre was closed for refurbishment from October 2006 to May 2010. It re-opened on 24 May 2010, with a programme for the 2010 season. The Colón theater operated in two buildings, the first located in the Plaza de Mayo until 1888 and the second located in front of the Plaza Lavalle, which took 20 years to be built until its inauguration in 1908. This land formerly housed the Park Station, the first railway station of the Argentine Republic as head of the Western Railway of Buenos Aires.

It is considered one of the ten best opera houses in the world by National Geographic, and is acoustically considered to be amongst the five best concert venues in the world. My favourite part of the Tour has to be sitting in the empty theatre venue.

We visited the Teatro Colon 14 years ago and took a tour of the building, which was fabulous. It was about to be restored and there were no shows for a number of years - seven I believe. And so, we waited. We returned in December 2018 and again took the tour (very different, but still fabulous, this timeand we went to a show there. The ballet of Tchaikovskys Nutcracker Suite, which was sublime.Plainish on the outside, it simply splendid on the inside. Take the tour of course, but see a show if you can. Book before you arrive in Argentina if you can, but if not - DO visit the theatre and you will probably be able to book standing room in the gods, which is a great place to admire the interior from - and only costs about $5.Absolutely unforgettable - not to be missed. Really six stars!
Not able to enjoy a performance here during our short stay, but we where able to sign up for a walking tour! You can register for a walking (Englishtour online, do it in advance, this tour is popular. Tour group is roughly 20 people. Lost a star because multiple tours happen simultaneously, our tour guide was very knowledgeable but very soft spoken, couldn’t hear her at times. The venue and decor is eccentric but it is breathe taking. Wish we could have wandered a bit longer than an hour.
Great venue! I wish we were visiting during their season and I could have seen an opera here. Stop by the venue and get your tour tickets early, they sell out. You receive tickets for a specific time. Then go do something else and come back when its time for your tour.
A MUST SEE! Tickets are quite expensive but worth it. The interior has been inspired by Versailles as I understood right. Anyway an incredibly beautiful building inside and outside.
One of the beautiful places in BA. I joined a guided tour in English at 13:00. It took about 45 min. Good choice to understand the history of this building.
Ive been there 4 times so far and I love it. Its considered one of the best theaters in the world so is it because Ive been at the top for both concert and opera, and the acoustic is just stunning. I go there every time I can. I try not to miss any free concert, I think we should take advantage of that so wed also be supporting the artists this way.
This is one of the most beautiful opera houses that I’ve been to in the world. I’ve been to about four of the top 10. I would have to say that this is my number one favorite. It has so much art and beauty. The architecture is phenomenal. It is influenced by multiple countries. The stories behind the opera house are wonderful. They have Spanish-speaking tours every 15 minutes. I did the 2 PM English tour. Our tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable. This is a must see if you are in Buenos Aires!!! Pictures do not do justice. Absolutely beautiful!
Spectacular Opera house. As travellers from the USA, we were fortunate to be here during a production of Don Pasquale. It was a modern interpretation and extremely well done. And because of the currency crisis in Argentina, our 4th row tickets were about $US150. Wow! This hall is storied and a sight to behold. Highly recommended if you are on Buenos Aires.
Beautiful opera house! We dont speak Spanish so we had to sign up for the English tour, and they only offer it by the hour. So prepare amble time if you want to go in. The inside is gorgeous, especially the fasade and the golden room. Highly recommend.
Very beautiful architecture! This is the only theater without microphones in Latin America. The tickets are relatively cheap comparing with the other opera theater. The building interior gives you the feeling of Italy renaissance but with modern touch. Lots of materials come from Europe. The theater itself has great capacity. It worths the visit but charging over 20USD for foreigners is a little too much.
A truly gorgeous place, it reeks of elegance, enchantment and excellence. A world class venue with rich history. The acoustics are delightful and an auditory experience unloke any other. If you are not fortunate enough to witness a performance here at the very least entreat yourself with a tour.
We have visited the Theatro Colon as tourists. The architecture and interior design were beautiful. We were not allowed to take picture from the main performance hall. The tour guide was very informative and professional.
On 11/21/18 we visited Teatro Colon for the performance of the Symphony orchestra of BA. In comparison with the performance about 8 years ago last night performance was of just okay quality. We picked up on some improvements of the sound, it appears that something was done to significantly improve acoustics.1*- for the seats. Where in the world you suppose to put your feet? We had a flash back to the Opera house in Hanoi..... if you are not comfortable, it would be very difficult to enjoy the music. The new ticket collection system was straight forward and we did not have any issues.
A must do in BA. Take the (very professionaltour in this magnificent monumental building. Its quite expensive (ARS 500 per person), but definitely worth it.
I love the Teatro Colón. Its a beautiful theatre full of history and magic. The ilumination gives a misterious and brigth atmosphere. You can get to see the scenario from every seat in the theatre, althoug you may have to deal with other people heads in the middle. It is an ideal place to enjoy a good piece of Opera or an orchestral repertory: you clearly hear the instruments due to the superb resonance of the room.I highly recommend going and giving it a try.
The best theatre in the world!!! Rated as one of the best acoustics its absolutely stunning, a must see. Take the tour inside (they charge aprox USD 12or go to an opera, ballet or orchestra, you will not regret it.
Its 300 pesos for guided tour. The ticket is available online and also ok to walk-in.When its said that the ticket is sold out in the website, please do not believe it.We was to buy ticket online but its fully bookend but when we go to buy at the place the ticket is still available. So check out there. The architect is nice. There are stories behind the theater so it is worth taking guided tour. The theatre does not offer shows in January. So you can plan ahead for it.
Magnificent.. Theater..One of the Three Most Important Theater in the World! Impressive eclectic... decorations. Beautiful experience..I really recommend it..50 minutes..of History.. excellent Costumer Service.. worth it! Thanks Colon Theater!
Nothing but amazing! The ticket to the tour is a bit expensive (300pesosbut it is every peso worth. Beautiful theatre with the worlds best acoustics.
This place is indescribable... you just have to live it. Words just can’t describe the experience of being there... there’s also tours you can do of the place. The tours are cheap, and not that long, and you get to see most of the place. Really fun as well.
