Flinders Street &, Swanston St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia, Bundoora
Huge contemporary restaurant with creatively-presented meals, and windows looking out to the city.
Great sports bar with tasty beers, quick cocktails and fast kitchen. Lively ambiance with a few high bar tables inside. They also have outdoor seating
One of the best meals have had in a long time. I am a vegetarian and the options were delicious. Charred eggplant to start, pumpkin tortellini for main, cauliflower and fries to share as sides and chocolate parfait for desert (not shared!). The sparkling and the coffee fantastic. Service was outstanding. The venue is stunning and the 4 of us felt very comfortable, as our 3 1/2 hour Sunday lunch showed! I would most certainly go back. And if you have not been book and go, you wont be disappointed.
Great service and food with fabulous view. Taxi kitchen has never disappointed us. It was lovely of them to make such a nice effort at making my husbands 60th birthday dessert special. Thanks :)
Great location and quality food. For some reason I like the shared plates more than the main dish and desserts.
Amazing view and delicious lunch. Thanks to a nice gentleman who invested a part of his busiest time to find a seat for my wheelchair during the traffic-crowded area @ that moment.
Wonderful location and food was exquisite (with prices to match)
Wonderful view of the CBD from this restaurant. Great service, good food except for the vegetarian option. We had a really good time here.
Always great for a pre-show dinner. Great location and the food always delivers. Love that they had a great selection of alcohol free cocktails as well. Although the food was a bit slow in coming, they made sure we were finished by the time we had to leave for the show.
Excellent food and great bar drinks. Service was great. Highly recommend.
Fabulous service, delicious food, and excellent cocktails. Who could ask for anything more.
The tasting menu was spot on, forgot to take photos of each course because it was so tempting, highlights were the tuna and the duck, staff were lovely and efficient, Im glad they told me what I was eating. Also the cocktail was awesome.
Had the most wonderful meal here tonight!Everything was different and delcious. The drinks were divine and the staff top class all round.Definitely deserve 5 stars and we will be back
Appetiser - Banh Mi crockettes were unique and really tasty. PassEntree - Wild Mushrooms fantastic . PassMain 1 - Salmon was wonderful. Pass.Main 2- Steak was cooked perfectly but too sweet(tasted like a char siew pork fusion of steak). FailSides - Cauliflower, supporting gravy a bit to flavourful. FailDessert - mandarin sorbet souffle , very strong sweetness and citrus. Tasty but strong. Pass.
What a great place. Warm welcome. Great oysters. King Fish to die for and the best duck Ive had in 6 months. But the best thing was that we were not rushed. Thank you Taxi kitchen
Great serviceLovely Food.Great atmosphere
Wonderful pre theatre dinner at Taxi Kitchen. We enjoyed 3 small plates, 2 mains and a side, which was perfect for 2 people. Tuna, wagyu dumplings and lamb bao buns to start. Duck and barramundi for main with side cauliflower. Great view over the city from the second floor in fed square. Host and waitress very good too. A great experience. Loved the 3 small plates the most.
Brilliant service made it an especially enjoyable evening. Food was amazing too.
Food is amazing, but the service was a bit slow. It took long to get it, but it was worth the wait
Had lunch with some friends awesome view of flinders street station, federation square and more. Staff great lots of light inside and food great
OKAY so,Ill admit - food took a little while to come.(Entrees 45 mins, and mains 1 hour and a bit), but oh my goodness it was so delicious.Oysters and scallops were perfect, the duck was crispy with such a nice sauce, and the cauliflower was homely.Well done!
Very cool and trendy Asian fusion fancy restaurant in Melbourne. The restaurant itself is located in a steel box placed over the Federation square with a nice view over the river and the CBD. The view is not the main dish for the night, but it is a nice complement to the food served in set menus they have to offer. Extensive wine and drinks options to go together as well. Service was amazing. Highlights to the seared tuna and the chocolate dessert. Just beware that the experience will be pricey.
Good food and view but marked down stars because we ordered two same desserts and they took the wrong ones out. After we realized, we informed a waitress. She said she messed the order up. So we can have those dessert and shell order the right one under her staff credit. We were expecting that we would get two desserts but only got one. When asked, we were told (with the attitudefrom the same waitress that she got that one for us free of charge!! So we were like ... hang on, it wasnour fault and we didnt finish the wrong desserts because we were waiting for the right one. Anyway, it wasnt nice to be said to like we were in a wrong.

Nice location, friendly & knowledgeable waitstaff, overall delicious food. 4-course menu/$65pThe only thing was that I had to reach out multiple times to refill my water. Although the restaurant was very quiet without many people, it seemed under-staffed (only 1-2 FOH). I felt neglected.
For the view and food, it was a good price point. The complimentary bread was the worst weve had in Melbourne, which was surprising. Luckily the food were good. The bug tails were good value, beef dumpling was nice, lamb shoulder and cauliflower both well cooked. The fries was a bit of a let down considering it was $9, nothing fancy, just typical bar fries. Service could be better, I felt like we kept getting neglected, ie. The water refill.
Good selection of dishes. Kingfish sashimi and pork candy are good. Szechuan salted duck and steak are disappointed. Came out super dry. We were unable to finish them.
Asian fusion restaurant! Prices arent sky rocket and the food you get is quality! Great service as well!
Food was delicious. Service was professional. Belly pork. Tempura bugs.Lamb shoulder. Five spice duck with caramel.
Ive been to a few places to eat, but this simply took my breathe away. Kingfish sashimi, with the most delightful sauce complimenting it. Duck, cooked to perfection. Barramundi (from Humpty doo? I thought that was a cooking style at first!paired with a fantastic riesling. Sensational view (of a thunderstorm of all things), brilliant service. And I love the open kitchen! This is a well-run kitchen balanced by a lovely staff and perfect view.
Absolutely never disappoints. Ive only ever ordered the tasting menu.. I love being served amazing food without having to decide what to have.Staff are always amazing - attentive without being annoying. The food is sensational, matching wine works...and when the sun sets, and the blinds are lifted - the view is breathtaking.. I love MelbourneYep, Im a fan..Highly recommended!
Chic and bright interior and nice setting by the river.Food didnt really hit my palate. Overall presentation was good. Liked the summer green which was refreshing and warm with the hazelnut spread and the spicy oil added a bit of kick. Barramundi was well cooked - crispy on the skin and moist inside. Avoid the slow cooked chicken breast - flavor in my opinion wasnt really infused and pretty dry.
Second visit here today & it was as Sensational as the 1st time! My wife me & my daughter had an amazing gastronomical experience! 3 entrees of pork belly..wagyu beef dumplings & tempura bug tails set us in heaven! Mains were sichuan duck & slow cooked lamb & the wombok salad! So tasty so succulent & that wombok salad is the best ive ever had period! Amazing views great decor great vibe...felt so relaxed & will be back again...enjoy all...
First time dining here for lunch and it was a great experience. Food is fresh, tasty and presented extremely well. Service was excellent and atmosphere bright and welcoming.
While in Sydney, we struck up a conversation with a local and we mentioned we were heading to Melbourne. She recommend a few places, one of which was Taxi Kitchen. Just wow! What fantastic food and such personal service. Our server was so friendly and was great at describing the food. We enjoyed the fried and sautéed oysters, the Hiramasa kingfish, the wagyu and ginger dumplings, the candy pork belly and the roasted mushrooms. The fries were also good! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. As we left, the manager provided some great recommendations for other locations to hit while in Melbourne. We highly reco Taxi Kitchen.
Excellent service, attentive without being over the top. Delicious food. The wombok and nashi pear slaw went beautifully with the duck. Menu all sounded so good it was hard to decide, so Ill have to keep coming back!
Located smack in the heart of the CBD, its difficult to miss the lingering eye-catching TAXI sign, and not feel the pull to eventually hail the Taxi Kitchen. The marble bar lining the Kitchen offering a spectacular view of the waters and cityscape, widely complements the contemporary Australian cuisine dishes served by the obliging and particularly helpful waiting staff. And the creatively laid out food is a gastronomical delight accompanied by a rather varied selection of wines and cocktails to choose from.
Delicious food, great view, really cool interior. The staff were excellent too, really friendly and seemed like genuinely nice people. Lovely laid back dinner, nice beer too.
Very prompt and polite service with good quality food and a fine selection of drinks. All facilities were clean and hygienic. Great dinner atmosphere. Staff made an effort to have or did prepared in time for a show at another venue.
We had a fantastic experience at Taxi Kitchen. We did the 6 course tasting menu, and were even able to vary the offerings. The food was amazingly good, to accompany the delicious wine and great view of the Yarra. To top it all off, the service was exemplary; attentive, knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Lovely views of the city. Food was delicious. Asian fusion with an interesting Australian twist. I had the rare Kangaroo for entree which was a very nice surprise! We also had the scallops which was superb. The downside was the duck which had too much five spice. Otherwise, great experience!
Taxi at Federation Sq is a unique experience with its service and food. Being a tourist, the dishes were unique and representative of modern australian. I love the tender kangaroo dish. Waiters were very knowledgeable and friendly.
I am rating 4.5 - round up to 5. Nice food good service, reasonably priced. All of us enjoyed visiting the restaurant. The only 0.5 point reduction was because no on site baby feeding facility.
Enjoyed the 4 course tasting menu on a trip to Melbourne. A great way to try smaller portions of what’s on the menu without committing to an entree size dish. The crispy salmon was my favourite.
We went to Taxi Kitchen for our work Christmas party. We had a private room for about 30 people. It overlooked Fed Square with views of the yarra, government house and the MCG. The food and service was great. I have attached some pics of the food. I highly recommend it!
Really good food. Slightly more upscale but not fine dining. Fantastic view of the Yarra. The slightly raw kangaroo meat was interesting and actually tasty. The mains of the pork and the duck was fantastic. Worth a trip
Excellent food, ambience with exceptional service. We ordered roast chicken, crispy skin Salmon and porterhouse steak-we were all smiles at the end of the meal. Like to mention Billy who took good care of us and provided exceptional service.
Was here because of the high review.ProsGood location and atmosphere.Good serviceConsThai fusion in the wrong way. Flavours doesnt match each other.Every dishes I had feels like just putting colours together without understanding the overall taste in our mouth. The worst one is the entree tuna with broad beans, they just dont go together.Give a 2 because they dont understand the food.
Great views and modern dining area. Food is good and the service was really good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great place for a small function or group dinner. You can then suck upstairs to enjoy a cold beer in the sun while watching the city go by.
UPDATED JANUARY 2018: Whilst the food is delicious and presented very well the service level absolutely stinks. From entering, the manager is not happy and of little words. He clearly does not want to be here and with a snooty attitude made us feel unwelcome. Our fellow guests were running a bit behind and as we did not want to miss a show at the arts centre we wanted to place our order before the others arrived. We were told a stern "NO, not until the others arrived". We stressed we had a show to see but another waiter told us that was their policy and sorry. This is a completely ridiculous policy and left us completely floored. I wont be back based purely on the attitude of the staff.MARCH 2017: I have been before a couple of years ago but held back on the review as I wanted to try it again. We decided to go for a weekend lunch on a sunny Melbourne day. The restaurant was about a third full so made for a comfortable and relaxing dining experience. Lots of steel and glass with great views over the city and Yarra. Plenty of different seating spots so you are spoilt for choice. Firstly, service is impeccable, a friendly warm smile and genuine conversation. All the way through we were served by a few wait staff and all were at the same charming level. The menu is very enticing, modern Australian but with a slight asian bent. Its very versatile and has so many good options we would love to try them all. We chose a couple of starters, an entree to share and 2 mains. I have to say I am impressed with portion size, it is really good. Too often I am disappointed with stingey portions which are uncalled for, here you will be fed well but also with satisfying flavours. Presentation is very good, styled with a keen eye for detail. There was an un-balanced sourness in one of the sauces but not a big problem. The wine list by the glass is decent but there are so many good wines by the bottle (wish the Curly Flat was by the glass, hint hint). A great experience.
