Great location, small bathrooms, poor quality hairdryers so had to buy one locally but very clean with good beds and linens. The rooms can be quite stuffy in warm or mild weather..would not stay in warmer months.

I was in a room on the first floor right above the kitchen. Noise from the kitchen was terrible, rattling pipes all evening and night which was just tolerable with earplugs, but from about 6am I was constantly disturbed by the sound of the in/out doors of the dining room banging right below my room (I think there were 2 or 3 of these doors :( ). Nobody should be put in these rooms without being aware of the noise, especially for the price paid :/

Stayed here for 3 days and well come back. The room was very clean, no mold or anything at all in the shower etc. The beds were fluffy and comfy! The outside-noise was tolerable, youll get used to it within minutes. We were able to get into inner london within max 15 minutes and had a lot of nice shops, restaurants etc. around the hotel. The food was amazing, service and staffmembers were a delight.I.e.=We were exhausted from our long 14hour-trip and the lady at the lobby gave us an already cleaned room which was earlier available (11am instead of 2pmwithout an extra fee.Cant thank the hotel enough for making our trip so nice, thank you!

The beds was terrible. You could feel and hear the spring bottom very well. We asked to get an extra mattress in reception but no feedback what so ever. The carpet in the rooms have been there too long and therfore had a strange smell. Sound from people and traffic from outside kept coming until early morning. Very hot in the room so we opened the window and sounds increast but what could we do.We bought two Aperol Spritz and a glas spumante. The spumante did we ask to get from a new bottle since it was without sparkling. The two Aperol Spritzs sparkling was probably taken from the same bottle without sparkling and too much of it. Did not even taste Aperol. We never used hotel bar or restaurant after that.Breakfast buffet was very good and lot of alternativ.Room cleaning was good but why change towels end sheets every day? We had the sign out for not being disturbed to avoid that change. Three nights can we without any problem handle that. The hotell should really think about the environmental policy!!!The checking in took a very long time even if we had bought the rooms in advance.

I have booked a room from 13-16 October. Very horrible experience! The room had no fan in the bathroom and all the smell of the bathroom was inside the room; on the other hand, you couldnt open the window because a big generator was running all the time and the noise was deafening. We tried to contact the staff, but they were very insulting to us, starting with the room support, who tried to deceive us that almost the toilets ventilate themselves. For oneAt that moment, I thought that Albert Einstein was resurrected! Then, after many conversations at the reception, they ignored every word and laughed at us, saying that the rooms were full of people and come again tomorrow. They laugh with the customers in a mocking way, but not in our case, for all their stupidity, we laugh with them.We asked to do late checkout against payment and they never agreed. We would have left the hotel on the first night, but it was only three days in London and we could not look for other hotels. The two blonde girls at the reception thought they were bank executives, rude talking to each other and laughing! A man of about 35 was somewhat better at communicating. The internet was so slow you could never use it, and the mattress was a box spring like Winston Churchills war room. If you want to not wake up with a backache in the morning and smell the toilet in the room, never book this hotel! We also contacted the management group of the hotel, Hotel Imperial, but did not receive a response.Maybe the person authorized to read this impression is laughing at this moment, but I want to tell you: There is nothing worse than laughing at yourself and what you stand for!If someone ignores this impression, I will remind them when they show up at the hotel!Thank you

Over powering perfume smell on arrival. Not good if your smell sensitive.Room like a oven.Light in room sounded like it was going to explode.Extractor fan in bathroom very noisy had maintenence out to it.Water for bath was well not the best unless you like bathing in rust an gravel again maintenence had to come out son hates showers so only bath will do.shower gel and hair wash is way to high if you want a bath Instead of a shower you really need take your own stuff or have extra long arms.Disappointed with the view it was windows more windows an some more windows. An it was noisy with the outside vents droning all night.Maids should ensure brakes are on beds so guests dont break there necks if they sit on the bed an lean on the wall causing the bed to push forward an end up in the vanity unity.Rooms are tired looking need a modern revamp and some art work.On checking out I mentioned the vent an water an got looked at like I had twoheads an just oh sorry. Will possibly have to use again at some point as its conveniently location to where we were going but if I can book the bedford I will as its a much more modern hotel.Overall its a passable hotel just a bit tired an dated.Didnt have any food so cant comment.

We had a great stay over the weekend. The hotel has a normal 3* standard for London and is perfect for a city trip. The room (doublewas small, but everything was there what you need including a huge Flatscreen. Water pressure was great and the cupboard looks smaller as it is. We enjoyed our stay. The bar on the ground floor is also recommended. You can walk in under 30 minutes to Oxford and Regent Street. Underground station Russel Square is only a few minutes to walk, where you can enter the Piccadilly Line (direct from and to Heathrow Airport).

AVOID -- absolutely awful customer service, wont resolve issues, and even the duty manager seems completely unable to suggest what their complaints procedure might be (just says "leave a comment on tripadvisor" and when given their website, cannot point to any means to raise an issue). Well worth paying a little bit more and going to a trusted brand like the nearby Travelodge.

I enjoyed my stay at the Tavistock. No, the rooms are not air conditioned. Be warned if traveling during warmer months but the temps during my visit were just right and I enjoyed my open windows overlooking Tavistock Gardens. The room was clean and adequate, tho small but given the price point for London, I was content. The hotel was especially well located for my travel plans and having a bar downstairs was a plus. The staff was attentive and helpful.

Very overpriced for the dated rooms, and the service was less than adequate. Did not allow transfer of calls when friends phoned in to talk to us during our stay. The beds were made but the sheets were never changed. Carpet was thread bare and dirty. Breakfast was not included. The Restaurant Menu had very limited options and the food was quite deplorable. Room Service didnt exist, you had to go down and retrieve food from the restaurant if you could stomach it. They had a broken ATM cash machine in the lobby which was very inconvenient. Three people staying in one room they would only give two rolls of toilet paper at a time. Quite disappointing. Staff was nice and helpful but unfortunately it didnt make up for what it lacked.

This hotel could be a 5/5 if it wasn’t for 1 extremely irritating thing which ruins the experience1. The showers only have a tiny screen. Whenever i shower water gets all over the bathroom and forms a massive puddle on the floor and soaks the walls. It is totally ridiculous. It is a design trying to be chic, but it’s just dumb. There are also other issues such as no air conditioning and only 2 outlets in a clumsy location, but that is common for budget UK hotels.

2 stars for misleading information and not upholding honourable customer service. Called ahead of time before making a booking to ask if we could add breakfast to our booking separately as 1 person from our party would be there for a shorter time. We were told it would be no problem. Upon arrival, we asked the person at the front if we could add it on and they said no because we had already made the booking. They either need to train their staff better so as not to give out misleading and false information or uphold best practises and accommodate guests properly. This is a sour experience in an otherwise relatively decent stay.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. UNHYGIENIC ROOMS AND RUDE STAFF!My friend and I traveled to London for my birthday and booked the Tavistock Hotel as it looked lovely on the pictures and was adequately priced. When we arrived, we paid for the booking and were provided with our key card. We arrived at our room and it was right next to the lift and was absolutely tiny - when I say tiny, I mean TINY! The bed was like a camp bed and had barely enough room to move around. We looked in the bathroom and it had clearly not been cleaned, with black mold on the walls and dirty shower, we refused to stay in this room.We went downstairs and asked to move rooms due to the above issues. Not once did they apologise for the issues and they were so rude to us. We managed to get another room on the 8th floor, we went up and the room was slightly bigger but was still dirty. There were bugs on the walls, mold in the bathroom and I hate to say it but brown stains on the bedding. In the end myself and my friend, one didnt feel safe and two didnt think it was clean enough to stay. We asked for our money back and they refused and said we needed to go through Expedia (who we booked througheven though we paid through their card terminals. I spoke to Expedia afterwards and they have confirmed that it was up to them to make the refund. Expedia have chased them and they have refused the refund, therefore, we never got our money back. Also the manager we spoke to was so rude and threatening, we are young twenty year old girls and felt threatened and scared so decided to leave rather than continuing the confrontation. When we looked back whilst waiting for our taxi, the staff were all staring at us and pointing and laughing at us . We felt so unsafe. Please, please, please avoid this hotel. I am not one to moan at all so dont sideline this review for a moaner!Think twice before booking this horrid hotel.

I know I posted overall 5 stars and 4 stars for the room. Hear me out!!. Samantha and her team could not do enough for their customers. The room is quite warm but there is a fan in the cupboard just in case. That is my only quibble with The Tavistock. The price does not reflect the service and cleanliness. When we checked in, the girl at the desk was a bit sharp but with the Queens week of mourning, students arriving and their usual selection of business people/vacationers and residents I am sure this has been a hard week for all.The rooms are immaculate and the housekeeping staff are polite, efficient and reliable. The staff in the Woolf and Whistle are amazing. Friendly, clean and presentable. The Woolf and Whistle itself is beautiful. Art Deco mixed with a modern touch. We ate at the Woolf and Whistle and was not disappointed. 1xvegan curry, 1x steak(blue, yes thats right blueand 1x ribs. The price for the meal is good for the serving and service you receive. We did not eat at the in-house Indian restaurant as we wanted to try another restaurant through a recommendation but hearing what others have said, it sounds like it is good.Altogether we have had 4 days here and it is definitely a great location for a base when seeing London. Surrounded by beautiful green spaces, clean, polite and a wonderful stay. Thank you Samantha and your team.

A really aweful place. In every aspect they are stuck in the 70s. My room was hot and the windows dont open enough to cool them down - there is no AC. The beds are cheap and you can feel the springs. The bathroom looks like it is kitted out from when I was a student. Nothing feels like ut has been invested in.Location is great, but that is the only positive.

This hotel is decent for the price, but can’t give any better rating due to the incompetence of the staff following the heat wave mismanagement in august. Rooms were at 30+ degrees with no air ventilation possible… the feedback from Said at the reception when I told him that I’m overheating and that I’d appreciate an additional water bottle: “I should go buy a water bottle at a shop nearby and open the window (as if I had not already tried….)”

This used to be one of my regular hotels in London until the pandemic, when it closed for a while. I stayed for a night in early August 2022, and for another two nights the following week. It hasnt changed much, although breakfast wasnt included in the rate I had so I cant comment on that. But the bar is as good as ever, and the food we had was excellent. Two comments to add - on my most recent visit we had some problems at check in, when the receptionist was very unhelpful, claiming that he couldnt find our booking initially (it was under my wifes name instead of mine, which we explained), and the room we had only had two power points - not enough when you have phones and computers to charge! If the hotel is refurbished at some point, increasing the number of power points (and perhaps adding USB connectionsmight be considered.

God awful place. No air conditioning in rooms but that is fine usually for hotel rooms. But this room was the hottest, grossest room I’ve ever stayed in and I am unfortunately not exaggerating. It was a sauna from start to finish. There was MOLD and BUGS everywhere. The “clean” towels they gave us each day smelled like eggs!!!! There were people banging doors all night long and when I told reception they said sorry and nothing else happened. When I checked out, I said it was the worst experience I had and the lady at the front simply said sorry and logged my complaint on a piece of paper and as my wife and I left laughed at us. Totally garbage place that shouldn’t be more than £20 a night. I will be disputing this with my credit card company. It’s a health department nightmare.Stay here if you love hot, sticky, outdated hotels that won’t install any air conditioning and doesn’t even clean anything. Oh, and if you fancy a side order of mold and bugs, you’re also in the right place.

My wife and I stayed last night. Arrived early after flying all night from the US. They were able to provide us with an early check in for an extra 20 pounds after some begging which was appreciated. Our room was on the top floor. Easily 85 degrees in the room and no AC! A small fan is provided and the windows open slightly. The electricity in the room is sketchy. Two outlets only and they worked sporadically. The only real positive is the staff. They are very professional and courteous.

The service and location were excellent, but the rooms are horrible! They are very, VERY small. The windows open about 2 inches and the heat is unbearable. Although it is only 67/19 outside, the room is around 95/32.They put a small fan in the room that only blow air about 5 inches ( literally 5 inches). I had to take cold showers just to fall asleep. Tiles are falling off in the bathroom. Service and location DOES NOT compensate for horrid discomfort. Rooms are available everywhere that are better appointed and less expensive.

Staying on the 8th floor. Room is like a sauna. The weather outside is beautiful- but the room inside feels like a heat death trap. It’s SO hot and there’s no way to fix it. Even with the window open, it only opens about an inch and doesn’t let air in at all. Not sure how anyone can stay here. Horrible stay on my first day in Europe. I’ve stayed in plenty of places with no AC before - none come close to being this hot. Do not stay here! Not sure how I’ll even sleep tonight without getting heat stroke. Had to buy a bag of ice to keep me cool. Also no outlets - had to unplug the TV to have an outlet. Terrible.

Good location, half decent food, friendly staff….All let down by an insane level of heat on the upper floors. I’m on floor 8. I’d estimate my room to have been around 30 degrees up until a few hours after sun down. It’s 12am and I’m still boiling Alive. The road noise is insane but can’t have the window shut. (Side note the two small windows In my room have a lock on and let a slither of air in(no air con). I was going to call reception and ask if I could relocate to a lower room, however from reviews it appears there is a noise issue there from the adjoining bowling alley and club. The “bed” is one step away from being a camp bed. It’s very low down and feels like it’s folding in on itself. I can feel every spring.Bathroom stinks, of what I don’t know. It’s a strong paint or chemical smell. The bathroom sink and bath metal is quite rusted, leaving rusty brown water streaking down the sink.Unless I’m being very blind there is one electric outlet here meaning I need to choose between charging my phone/work laptop and the fan.I don’t think I’d return unfortunately.

Location is excellent, with quick access to the underground and with a lovely park right in front. Overall the hotel is recommended for anyone who doesnt plan on spending much time in their rooms.Great location, but dont expect too much for the price with regards to accommodations. The rooms are serviceable and clean, though the low flow toilet, basic beds, and lack of a proper shower door (a pane of glass that only covered half of the shower pan and was the clear culprit of the water stains on the bathroom door), created a feeling of cheapness. Location of the room is a major factor as well. We were placed above a nightclub and were treated with the typical sounds of semidrunk people outside as we were heading to bed (a closed window made little difference). Not bad enough to change rooms as we were both fairly exhausted by the end of the day, but it should be noted.Breakfast is OK, nothing to really commend but no major issues. Two coffee machines along with two pots of coffee, the fixings for a mediocre full English, yogurt, cereal, etc.The members of staff were prompt and kind, though Id note that the mood was dampened a bit by the (to our knowledgemanager at the time giving his front staff employee a bit of a dressing down in front of guests.

The location is very convenient to the bus line and a couple minute walk from the Russel Square line. The lobby is nice and there is a large bar and breakfast area. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had one of the inner rooms, so there was no views of the streets, just the roof of a lower level of another building. I was also a bit annoyed that there were no power jacks by the beds that I could find. There was also a bunch of noise, which was odd considering we were not facing the streets, but I believe it was music and other noises from the bowling alley which is under the hotel (we were on the third floor). But I slept fine, and the hotel was clean, and I think I would stay here again for the price point.
