Tranquil, eclectic art gallery in the heart of Pietermaritzburg. Dont miss the homemade lemonade and muffins at the upstairs coffee shop
The exhibition was incredible. The gallery is beautiful. Even the security guard was great. It was an all round wonderful way to spend the day. I will definitely be back.
Lovely art in a peaceful space. The cafe service is amazing and so is the food.
Beautiful place to get away for some art and quiet. I love the fact that theu have various exhibitions throughout the year, and that theres parking for visitors to the gallery. Im hoping to see this place thrive and be better.
Got my dose of culture for the day.Great displays!
Love this place for its quiet atmosphere, cute coffee shop and the fact that its a great place to go on a rainy day in PMB.
The pianist playing there on 1 April made our experience surreal. It was truly out of this world!!!
What a privilege to have such a glorious temple of art in such a small city! I was really impressed by both the collection and variety of art, and the clean and efficient way in which the gallery is managed. This gallery is really an asset for Umgungundlovu.
New art works and amazing restoration of old works damaged by a flood. The live music from James Grace was awesome
Customer service was amazing.....thought last time I was there they didnt have their menu written down. But the experience was amazing.
Beautiful way to just relax and unwind. I went there for Valentines day and it was absolutely amazing. It is clean and well set out.
A magnificent gem of a gallery full of amazing works. The gallery is carefully tended by the staff and management. There are many events, and constantly changing exhibitions. Highly recommended for a stop by.
Some of the most beautiful art by local talents. Fantastic piano and amazing acoustics. Love singing at Tatham
Had a wide variety of great artworks and a coffee shop. Well worth a visit. And its free.

A real amazing museum of art. Its such a gem and very worth the visit. Parking is a bit of an issue when there are activities. Pinky the Education Officer is amazing
Nice gallery even if 2 years ago I went and there were a lot paintings now I have found few.
Such an incredible Gallery.. Always a joy to visit.. especially the Gallery restaurant has a yummy menu and great, warm service
Interesting art museum in Pietermaritzburg - it was established in 1903 and since then showcases permanent & temporary exhibits in a historical setting. Enjoyed spending an hour on Sunday morning.
Love it! A great place for artists and art lovers🌼
Absolutely beautiful gallery with wonderful art and a lovely staff.
Awesome place to see and learn more about Art in generating and all the different unique art pieces. Great open clean place, had an amazing time.

Pretty good exhibition with a great coffee shop and nice view of the town hall
I love this place Because its spacious if theres event hosts there I know I am not gonna be squashed and hey very clean even their loo
We made a stop-over there on our way to the Drakensberg region and it was a great cullinary choice. We had the most amazing tasty yummy wraps sandwiches that we took at the Museum restaurant. We were able to eat from the balcony with a nice view over PMB. The staff were really really nice and the arts and craft displayed were of great interest. I wish I could go back and taste those wraps once again
Wonderful variety of art on show, quaint little restaurant and friendly staff
Loved the new Restuarant! Divine food and fantastic art! Nothing can beet that combo!
A lovely, relatively unknown place to visit in PMB. It has some amazing art as well exhibitions now and then. The only downside is the lack of parking.
Its an amazing place. I always come to the Gallery for visit coz I love art. Its Peaceful. Amazing and everyone there are friendly. I feel safe. The place is amazing. Its even close to City hall 😍😘👌
The Tatham is a wonderful place to stop at if you are in the CBD of Pietermaritzburg. There are regular feature exhibitions as well as some wonderful gallery curated artworks.
Very cute gallery in the middle of busy Pietermaritzburg. Admission is free but a donation box is presented near the exit door. Usually very quiet, great for admiring all of the wonderful art. The collection is made of a humble mix of mediums, nationalities and time periods. It is large enough to split into two shorter visits but definitely can be seen in one.The Cafe had great cappuccino and muffins with excellent service. ✨
Has a big room in which we set up a small lighting and sound rig for dance performances. Space is good. Unfortunately theres next to no parking within the gallery, except a small grass area in the front of the building. Good toilet facilities. Security are present.
Good variety of art well played out. Cafe is great.
Cool place, well taken care of and great for those interested in art.
I have heard about the Tatham Gallery and the visit was exceptional. Immaculate and exquisite building. Loved the art and finished of my visit with a wonderful latte and carrot cake on the beautiful balcony of the coffee shop. Admission is free. A treasure in PMB.
Well worth a visit. Contemporary South African art as well a few old masters. The restaurant is obliging, friendly and makes wonderful food. Lovely soups!
An absolute gem.Perfect for a date and wonderful if you need a moment for inspiration.Wonderful pieces and occasionally local exhibits. The café is very well priced and stocked with a rather health choice of meals. Ive been countless times
A good, but small, collection of local art, supplemented by some minor works by major artists of the 20th and late 19th centuries. Nice feel. Some art quite eclectic, some potentially disturbing for children, but generally interesting. Very nice restaurant / coffee bar. Small shop with interesting local art, supporting local artists. A nice place to spend a few hours. Parking a bit limited, but generally available.
