Tat Sae Waterfalls - Tourist attraction in Louangphrabang, Laos
Limited excess, open during rainy season. Cooling water, good to have aswim and picnic. Boat ride 15000LAK per person, enter the waterfall, local 10k LAK while Foreigner 15k LAK.
Secretly the best waterfall in town. Can swim and play in the water to your hearts content with beer / good food available right there
Very nice falls. Very little people, you can swim and walk around. You need to arrive to a little town where they cross you in a boat for 15.000 kip and then there’s a fee to enter the falls 15.000 kip for foreigners. There’s two restaurantes in the falls, they don’t sell good food, maybe its better to take a little picnic. The park in general need maintenance, things are old and dirty.
Very beautiful waterfalls, not too many tourists (we went around late afternoon time)
We had a wonderful experience. Mid October, the water was refreshing but not cold and we could easily swim and walk around in the water and on the small waterfall. For the adventurers, Id recommend hiking the trail up to the third waterfall. The trail was sometimes a little hard to find and had some tricky spots (e.g. balancing on a tree over the water to get to the other side). We did not go swimming up there because we liked it "easier" at the downstairs public swimming pool, but if you like the real jungle experience, go for it.
Great to swim inside the beautiful waterfall. A lot less crowded than the Guang Xi waterfall. No elephants anymore though. Good to spend half day relaxing and picnic in the woods.
Beautiful setting marred by poorly maintained infrastructure bordering on dangerous... trekking to upper waterfalls at your own risk and not worth it. Kuang Si is a better experience overall.
Very beautiful waterfalls. You need to cross a river to get there, it would be 10 minutes by a small boat. Totally worth it 👌🏻
These waterfalls and surrounding jungle like scenery were one of the best things we did in Luang Prabang. A 20 minute scenic scooter ride gets you to the boat dock. A 5 minute ride on a long tail and you arrive at a truly stunning natural phenomenon. Probably best in the rainy season. 35,000 Kip per person included parking, boat and entrance. Plenty of restaurants next to the falls. Not to be missed.
#TadSaewaterfall #LuangPrabang is a spectacular natural wonder best appreciated in the wet season.Despite not being as high as Kuang Si waterfall there are many more streams of water which cascade and make a thunderous sound following plenty of rain. The falls pour over beautiful limestone formations across a variety of levels into large pools below, which are fantastic to swim in.
A lovely place. It is highly recommended to visit and enjoy the beauty of nature, walk around the grounds and bathe in the pools. The road to the place is also very beautiful.
Not far from Luang Prabang and a good place to spend a hot afternoon. There food and drink stands at the falls with nice seating. You can swim in the many pools that make up the falls. There were ziplines but they were not in use and in quite disrepair. You do need to take a boat to the park and pay an entry fee. 15,000 kip for each.
BE CAREFUL if you decide to go on hike here. They should completely close paths to the 2nd and 3rd levels of the waterfall, and put some warning signs due to its danger. The crossing bridges are destroyed, walking paths are not maintained, you will have muddy and slippery walk on the edges, go over fallen trees etc. This place might be still alright and fun for picnic and swimming, if you stay at the 1st level by the entrance and dont go deep.Jul 2022.
A really amazing place, Great pricing on food and drink.A new experience to sit in the river för a meal 😍
Great waterfall that allows swimming everywhere. This is not the tourist hot spot but more a hang out for locals. You must ride a longboat to get here which cost 15000kip per person as well as 15,000 to enter the park. So cheaper then the most popular tourist spot as well.
These falls feature smaller cascades on a wider tributary. The area around the falls is more built-up than Kuang Si, and there are decks criss-crossing the water where you can relax and enjoy the sights and sounds. Nearby, an elephant park offers visitors the chance to meet, feed, and even ride Asian elephants.Tad Sae requires a ride out of town and then a short trip down the Nam Khan river in a traditional longboat. Tuk-tuks regularly make the 14km trip to the boat launch area and cotinue to take the boat to the main waterfall about 8 minutes. And also you can go by bicycle takes around 45 minutes. Tad Sae can be dry or mostly dry from February to July, so be sure to check before you go. (Tuk-Tuk cost about 150.000 kip and you can share with others for cheaper cost). When cooling off at the pool or the falls, it’s also important to remember that bikinis and other very revealing swimwear are also frowned upon and public displays of affection, from hand-holding to more intimate gestures like kissing, are considered crude. Please also note that visitors are expressly requested not to walk around with shirts off or in just bikini tops. This is considered rude (and the individual in question is assumed to have questionable morals and status).Open daily 08:00am – 17:00pmTickets: 20.000k/person (under age of 8 years old free entrance).
Its a beautiful place, unfortunately while I was there, there isnt much water otherwise it is one of the must visited place in Luangprabang and the place is abandoned due to the impact of the pandemic.
Sadly I went in April its no water in this time.Local people told me that water come only Raining season late June to Oct.But good times riding boat to the Tatsae it was fun 10,000LAK
Beautiful lovely place to chill with friends or even solo... A must visit place Tad Sae Waterfalls
Magical place with cool blue water, multiple levels of waterfalls and pools to swim in. They also have a cool mom bear sanctuary for rescued bears. A 20-30min hike will take you to the top of the falls where there are additional swimming spots and 3km hike to a spring cave restaurant.
Paid 5000 for parking and 20000 for the boat ride to the waterfall. Only then do they tell us there is no water. Paid 10000 each to get in. Avoid during dry season.
Beautiful place to visit not far from Luang Prabang, few tourists. I will take you about an hour to make the trip around the waterfalls different levels. Im the dry season there is not much water. The most beautifull part is at the bottom, where the main entrance. Can sit and relax, read a book, without being surrounded by hundreds of tourists.
Waterfall was not too spectacular as we went in the dry season, but the swimming was awesome. You can also feed elephants a bundle of bananas or bamboo for 10,000 kip.
A must see in Luang Prabang. Been in December and level 4 was almost dried out, but still spectacular. A nice hike worth the small effort. Can ne done in one day together with Kuang Si of book a taxi for all day (payed 50USD for the whole day transfer from Hotel to Kuamg Si to Tad Sae and back to hotel).
We caught a boat from the Elephant Village to the falls which was a nice scenic ride. We were there mid November and there wasnt a lot of water going over the falls however the area is quite beautiful.
Good half day trip, access by local boat and water fall nice view to take a picture. There is a little Mia Cafee shop and restaurant. Did not swimming, feel cool and low water level during winter (Nov).
Amazing waterfall and a chance to see elephants that are treated nicely. You have to get there on the ferry which is 10.000 per person and than entrance fee is 15.000 per person. If you want you can feed elephants for 5.000. Also walk to all three waterfalls is nice and easy you can swim in a lot of places. Be aware of snakes as we have seen one in one of the swimming areas
Beautiful waterfalls just 30-40 minutes from Luang Prabang town. There are 3 main waterfalls areas and a cave. You can swim only at the first waterfalls area.I’m not sure if the “hike” to the 3rd waterfall worth your time and energy.Entrance: 10000 kip + boat 5000 kip
One of the most beautiful cascade of waterfall which you can find 45minutes bike ride from the Luang Prabang city. There are many activities to do from at the river. One can easily spend half day its a great experience. Do take note the floor beds can be very slippery. I took a hike upto the third waterfall, not much amazing there, would suggest you to enjoy at the base itself. Because its a long 1km walk through the steep muddy terrian and of not much worth to visit the 3rd waterfall.
Its a bit of a trek. First you have to get a small boat for a small price to take you upstream. Then you pay to enter the waterfalls and surrounding area, which also has an elephant park. Please please dont ride the elephants instead just go up to the falls where the swimming area is very good and much safer and smoother under foot than Kuang si falls. Take the path upstream on the left if you want to explore. Very quiet and stunning jungle
A lovely place to relax for the day. The boat trip to get to the waterfall was amazingly beautiful. The main basin is quite busy but there are lots to explore. Be sure to have some shoes Id you wish to explore as its quite slippery.
Beautiful Tat Sae Waterfall with cascading in nature. Clear blue water and refreshing landscape in the midst of thick forest and clean air. Fun to track up, from the pier, up to part of the source of the water. There are some elephants for rides at the waterfall. For me, the thrill was the journey ie the boat ride to Tat Sae Waterfall. Love the wonderful views along the journey!!!
Run-down and only partially open. Paid 20k for a lovely 7 minute boat ride from the car park to the waterfall and 15k per person for admission. They dont tell you however that you can only access the first waterfall and swimming area which is poorly maintained - for example the steps to the pool are broken and have not been repaired. Access to the second and third pools is via a walking path that was rendered unusable what it seems like a long time ago. There is however an alternative way up however it is a slippery dirt track that only leads to the second pool and then disappears. The waterfall itself wasnt very impressive when I visited compared to Kuang Si (which was stunning btw), but that that could just be down to the time of year.
Dont visit it during the dry season. Every nice photo was made in the rainy season, I will attach some pictures taken in march.Youll have to take a boat to the place, its 20.000 Kip. Entry is another 15.000 Kip. You can hike around till the third waterfall in about 25 minutes, I found a more natural and nicer place to take a bath about 10 minutes from the official camp. Considering the location and price I cant recommend going there at all. There are some other activities and they have an elephant camp as well. The animals were chained and had to carry their chairs all day long. You are supposed to ride and feed them, please dont do it.
Several nice waterfalls in a national park. In some pools it is possible to swim. Attention: This does not mean that the water is hot - it is rather fresh.
The place is a nice combination of boat ride, trekking and waterfalls. You can do a trekking rout that takes about 1.5 h to around 3 different waterfalls. Unfortunately in Feb 2019 there were two problems about this place, it was dry season so there was not enough water in the river to make great waterfalls and also shortly before our visit there must have been a thunderstorm or heavy rain because a lot of trees fall down and destroyed parts of the path. At the waterfall no. 3 the damages made it impossible to reach it. There was one spot at the beginning, next to the restaurant were it was possible to bath.
Beautiful place. And I played with a very beautiful elephant. Don’t ride them with the seat, I asked to remove it, and I sat down directly on it just to go to the water and play. Was funny and a good opportunity to give your biggest huge to this fantastic animal 😍
About 12 miles from Luang Prabang. Easily accessible from Luang Prabang by Tuk Tuk and a short boat trip to cross Nam Khan river (tributary of the Mekong. Note that the waterfall is flowing only in the rainy season and a few weeks following it. Apparently - the flow dries up completely. When the flow is on - the place is magnificent for both walking (there are 3 sets of falls to discoverand swimming in the magical turquoise pools. The Tad sea also appears to have a small elephant center where you can see and ride elephants.
There are restaurants and a coffee shop at waterfall and It was super great view and super good coffee and foods , and were so enjoyed and we are glad that we made the trip, recommend.
Waterfalls absolutely stunning . We tried to go for a trekking tour which comes to be very expensive . Instead we rented a motorbike and did it on our own. The best thing we did . We could take our time at the place . Go explore other waterfalls around and go to the cave which comes to be very cheap by the end adding all costs . If you going to explore other waterfalls make sure you have a proper shoes as it is very slippery and dangerous already if u do have a proper shoes .
What a stunning place! We came here through a tour from the Elephant Village. This is one of the most beautiful places Ive ever been. The clear blue water and smooth rocks combined with the trees and buildings were so calming and gorgeous. The water was a bit cold but that only meant it was refreshing. Theres also a small cave you can hike up to behind the falls. Definitely a must see if youre in the area!
5000kips parking motorbike in mud20000kips boat go over the river and back15000kips entrance feeThe main waterfall area is good organised. Some elefants to ride there.Be careful when trekking to the second and third waterfall
One of the best spots Ive been so far. Excellent waterfall, the water is amazing and the hike for the third step is just an adventure. Super good.
Beautiful place. Its much smaller than Kuang Si waterfall but its gorgeous nonetheless. A series of falls and shallow pools to swim in. Theres a cafe right above one of the waterfalls where you can grab a snack or coffee and relax. They also have zip line and elephant ride options available. Highly recommended.
This would be 5 stars if it wasn’t for the arduous process to get there. Pay to park motorbike. Pay for boat ride across river. Pay to enter park. Waterfalls were beautiful and we were there at the tail end of the day so had the park essentially to ourselves. Very beautiful but could get very busy by the looks of what is setup there
Love the elephants!! Buy them tons of bananas to eat, only 5k kip for a bunch. It makes them happy. 😊 Riding them was super fun too.
Is a calming place. Worth to go.. The most adventure part is when riding their local boat to Tad Sae waterfall places. NICE experience and local people are friendly 🤗Currently israining season at here. Hence, the waterfall water colour is yellowish.
So nice place! Nice jungle trail around river. Amazing water, but in the time I was there, water was pretty cold... 😁...don forgot take your swimming dress. Just I dont like elephant riding and the small monkey in cage...😣
So much better than expected, 10k for boat return, another 15k for the entrance, plus a tuktuk or scooter rental price, easy go up to 10 dollar spending, however the whole atmosphere was so nice n m so glad I did it.
It is well worth the uncomfortable Tuk Tuk ride to tad Sae. It really is a beautiful place to chill and enjoy a waterfall and swimming experience.
