Really delicious omlettes! Wow :)

Ordered a flat white and ham, cheese and onion toasted sandwich after repeating my order 4-5 times as the woman was having trouble with the till. Service was quick but I got served a milky weak flat white (terribleand a ham, onion and tomato toasted sandwich with whole slices of onion. Asked for a refund and that was no issue but still, wouldn’t go there again.

My boyfriend and I came up to Taupo for the night from Hastings and came here for lunch both days. Was amazed by the smoothies and shakes and food was amazing! Such a nice little place, very pleased and will be back. Only thing was my boyfriend’s alcoholic drink was so expensive, wasn’t sure if we were overcharged? The staff are so friendly too, overall great place to come for food 👍

Best eggs Benedict Ive had in ages.The sweet balsamic took it to the next level, well done!!Coffee was great as well

My partner and I have just been for brunch at Taste Cafe. We loved the food and the service!

One star for a good musli. Minus 3 for terrible service and over price. The waiter didnt even go two steps more to see our number and I had to go there. They added a 15% surcharge for public holidays in the fine print on the menu. The other meal we ordered was terrible as well as the overpriced Anzac cookie which nearly broke the plate because it was so hard. 50 bucks for an overpriced Müsli and coffee. Ill try to remember not to go there again.

Beautiful service. Was introduced in the restaurant with my family very well, the food was AMAZING! Best egg Benedict I’ve had by farrrrr!!!! Amazing place to dine at. Interior is beautiful and the view of the sea is priceless. They have a kids area which was shocking because where I’m from you don’t have stuff like these which was nice to think of! Big props to the boss for this idea. Would recommend this my family and friends

On a very busy public holiday Monday we were pleased to be able to get an awesome table outside with amazing views. The food was great and the service was outstanding. Very friendly staff. Great location. Thoroughly enjoyed our brunch.

The best coffee, service, and super yummy muffin and we’ve travelled from the bottom of the Sth Island. The coffee was hot, not burnt, just rich full flavours, the muffin full of fruit and moist. The service was amazing. Thank you Taste!

Not pleased at all with the quality of food. Certainly overpriced for what was on the plate. Ordering pasta was certainly a mistake and the vegetarian burger was pretty sad too. Chicken burger did do some justice but Certainly won’t recommend this place at all.

We had a wonderful dining experience on Monday the 25th October. Our drinks and food were superb. Fantastic service as well ☺️

We walked in as a group of 8, and we found some staff abrupt and unfriendly. We all bought meals and drinks, accepting the 15% surcharge for Labor Day. After sitting for over 35 minutes we were informed our meal tickets hadn’t been given to the kitchen. After over an hours wait, we found our food to be disappointing. The nachos and wedges were burnt, the panini was soggy and the hotcakes order was completely wrong, with additions not even on the menu. There was a young lady who was courteous and apologetic but it did not save the unpleasant experience. We are not eager to return.

Amazing food, super friendly and attentive staff who served us quickly even during their busy hours. Got the classic mince on toast (10/10 so delicious!!+ eggs benedict which melted in my mouth *chefs kiss* I will definitely be coming back the next time I visit Taupo!

For a great balance between quality of food and value for money, Taste Cafe has it. We really enjoyed our time here. Good space for young children to play, served in a timely manner and generous portions, along with a great range of choices for all tastes. Vegetarian also looked delicious 😋

First time having breakfast here. So we werent firmiliar with food and so on...Food are nice, its nice and clean and tidy just a shame the staff is absolutely rude...No WARM WELCOMING no greeting customers when arriving or leaving no one has got a smile welcoming customers and you cant ask to many questions then youll get rude answers!!! Male staff is rude and he has no customers service :( ! This was upsetting. NOTHAPPY!!

Disgusting! Ordered the ham sandwich and got a really moldy sandwich. I returned to the waitress that served and she only said they don’t have any other ham sandwich available, not even sorry for serving a health hazard.

Waited 50 minutes for Eggs Benedict which came out 10mins before the Chicken nugets and Chips, was only about 8 tables to service inside and out. Food tasted good but an hour is too long, would hate to go there on a busy day😬

We picked this location as it was less busy than the rest. Estimated wait time was 40min was happy to wait and it was there within 30min. I got the eggs benedict. Sadly the eggs were overcooked (solid centre), the hollandaise sauce was a bit bland and there were Mint leaves mixed in with the spinach under everything so was pretty hard to identity what was what once wilted. The coffee was nice. The place was pretty calm when we were eating, it would have been nice to be checked on to see how the food was.

Berry smootie was bad so we changed it to the banana. Had the consistency of snot so no improvement. Coffee was good though so 1 star.

Awful food. We were told it would take 1/2 hour to make a salad and hot cakes. Fake maple syrup, cream out of a can, fruit salad consisted of half a banana, 4 grapes, a slice of orange and 1/4 Kiwifruit. Hot cakes tasted like plastic.

Its OK, but 20 mins to get a tea and coffee was excessive. It wasnt busy, about two thirds full when we arrived. Meals were coming out thick and fast, but drinks took ages.

Lovely coffee every time I go there. The meals are big and priced fairly. Kids meals are always lovely. My only gripes are the bacon is sub par and the chef overcooks the poached eggs. The mince on toast is to die for though.

Great location, awesome decor, AMAZING coffee by a lovely man in glasses, quick and HUGE food for unbelievably reasonable prices. The cashier was very efficient and all around great place.But they do play giggle which makes it feel slightly cheap but damn, we just stopped in on our roadtrip and we will definitely make it our go to from now on

I had scotch fillet steak sandwich today. It was really nice. Big sized steak, well grilled, very delicious. My friend had eggs benedict with hot smoked salmon. It was real hot smoked salmon the best I ever have had . Succulent and tender. Awesome place in Taupo.

Family friendly cafe. Well organised kids menu. We always stop by Taste on the way to Wellington. Fluffy is best ever for kids. Nice play area. Big tables for family.

We dont get out often as we we have a small child. The grntaleman who runs it is very nice and let us control the tv so while my son played he could watch cartoons. Very child friendly with great food and coffee. If you dont have small kids and can sit outside you get a great view of the lake

We were there for brunch. It was disappointing. I ordered the big breakfast. The poached eggs were watery and tough, the potatoes werent cooked through. The bacon and mushrooms were fine. The chips we ordered as a side didnt seem fresh. Most of the staff were ok. Drinks were ok. Value for money wasnt good. Would not go back nor recommend.

This rating could of been avoided by a simple there will be a 30min wait on food.We had dropped in on our way home so waiting 35mins for food when we were having a quick stop wasnt really acceptable.The food was nice without being amazing which saved them from a one star.

Had a break time at this cafe on the way to Napier. The beef mince pie was yummy with FW. Though I could not enjoy a beautiful view from the window as it was under construction at the front road, it must be completed by Summer season!

Bagel was not toasted enough. Poor customer service, the lady taking orders behind the counter was very rude. Got laughed at when asked for a side of avocado in April, as if I was stupid and meant to know they didnt have any. She didnt know what pesto was, took a lot of explaining to get a little bowl of it. However great outdoor table location.

Big and healthy vegetarian lunch with a lovely view! Would definitely return again.

Really disappointed by this place. The service was poor, the ladies definitely didn’t want to be there and it felt like we were interrupting them when asking questions about the menu. Food was really average which is disappointing especially because the prices are the same as the quality cafes 100m down the road. The three of us had different meals and all felt the same way. I will say they had good facilities - play area and changing room. Probably avoid if you can.

Good coffee and a little play area for the toddlers to play in while parents have a coffee break. Play area has toys and activities for the kids to do and a small fence to keep the little ones from making a dash for it. Good place to stop at on the way through. Cabinet food decent and menu available for meals. Plenty of seating in and outside and right next to the car park for ease of access.

Had dinner here with 2 other people, after the Taupo Summer Concert on Anniversary Weekend. Ordered the $20 scotch fillet meal with chips and salad. Creamy pasta was ordered by the others. It was extremely busy at nearly every bar and eatery in Taupo. So we werent surprised when it took awhile to place an order, get drinks, get our food etc. It didnt matter, because the vibe was great, and the drinks (recommended by the barman), went down well. And when we did get our food, we werent disappointed. My scotch fillet was beautifully cooked, chips were crispy and salad, tasty. From what I hear, the pasta was delicious -I was too slow to get a taste though! Will I be back? Yes!

My Salmon breakfast was really yummy however the big breakfast was underwhelmimg and both meals were lukewarm like theyd been sitting in the kitchen for a while. My Mocha was amazing however the flat white we ordered came out a cappa. Meals came quick however and staff were friendly enough.

The staff happened to be stressed out and lacking there professions. We ordered a hot chocolate which happened to be half full and cold. The eggs Benedict had a massive egg shell siting at the bottom of the plate, and the beef buger was served with warm uncooked chips. The staff did apologize and take the complaint quite well but was definitely not worth the money and time we payed.

First time we had diner there last night and the food was excellent!!! I hope the chef gets paid and treated well! The only let down were the spring rolls as they were very plain. I dont think there was anything in them. But everything else we had was superb. And that for a good prize with a view to die for and a service with a smile. I hope the new management will keep the atmosphere up.

For the price I was expecting something more than a sub-par meal. for $15.50 p/p youd expect a decent meal of nachos and it to be full of flavor. Sadly it was not. I could of done better at home. Also they managed to make a classic Banana milkshake ($7.50and turn it into a bland tasteless disaster even after adding more banana syrup to it. I would not recommend this cafe to anyone over priced food for not much zing.

Despite some reviews about the great coffee (which I agree), the other points lower my rating of this cafe. The staff seem stressed out and unfriendly, making it difficult to enjoy our breakfast. Eggs were overcooked and the bacon was almost cold. There are many alternatives for breakfast in the area, but this is still one of the most convenient (facing the lakeand with a kids area (if you have the time).
