Tasmanian Gourmet Seafoods in Hobart
Description
Privilege
Fresh cooked seafood is good, but venue could be better.
Good food, but quite expensive for some of the meals, some meals better value than others
MoreAmazing fish & chips, would go again any day of the week!!🤤🥰😍
The chips were soggy and soft and the fish was greasy. Flat out disgusting and worst fish and chips on the island. The staff are really rude. If I could give it zero stars I would.
MoreAte in the big tent, which was warm and perfectly fine. Service excellent, fish was excellent also.
MoreExcellent service, amazing value and quality seafood — even the side salad was great! Licensed too, which is a bonus when dining in :)
MoreNot recommended. Dry fish, greasy batter, small serves for the $ and well over priced. Trying to be something they are not with corner takeaway seating but higher end pricing. Sorry wont be back.
MoreNice. And honest.I ordered 6 grilled scallops, as the scallops were so small, the chef decided to give me 4 more to make up for it. Pleasant surprised .
MoreFood is yummy but don’t advertise Seniors card welcome - if it’s not!
Very nice seafood and I love the spicy sousa. I love the service you gave me...🥰🥰🥰Thanks so much and see you again.
MoreChose the Family Feast to take away. The batter was underdone leaving a thick gluggy coating over the fish just under the cooked batter which was simply gross. Then there was the amount of oil that was dripping out of the fish, man it was not good. The dim sims and potato cakes were the highlight, just. The young lady at the front counter was delightful and engaging and there seemed to be a steady crew of people eating there, maybe thats the answer. But if you want take away stay away.
MoreThe best fish and chips I have had in my life. I had perfectly cooked salmon and a great sized fresh salad, others had standard fish and chips. All fresh all cooked to perfection big portions worthy of a classy restaurant. Very friendly staff, local ciders, plus table service!
MoreReally lovely staff and awesome food!! There’s plenty to choose from and their battered fish is the best! All food was super fresh, not greasy at all, and full of flavour. Salad was fantastic and serving sizes were great. Hope I can come again soon and try more stuff on the menu. Definitely worth the drive out 👍👍
MoreWork trip flight was delayed.. asked the Uber driver to drop me to a restaurant near the airport. He recommended and brought me to this place.Staff were very friendly and helpful at recommending what I should have for lunch.Seafood was very fresh, tender and flavorful.Would definitely recommend this place to others. Thanks TGS!
MoreGreat location very friendly staff and the best fish an chips etc had in along timePrices very good. Thank you
MoreWhat a hidden gem! Delicious fresh oysters!!!! Fish was also exquisite! I totally recommend eating here! Plus, its affordable and the place is very informal which makes it actually very cool!
MoreThe oysters are very fresh!! The freshest I have ever tried. The battered fish & chip (we had lingis good, portion is just nice.
MoreLovely place to take my elderly mother and bottomless pit son out for lunch. Staff were very welcoming and food was yummy as always.
MoreWe were impressed by the combination of quality service , quality seafood, generous serve and super honest price offered by this great place!!We will definitely go back to it next time in Hobart..Many thanks 😊
MoreUnfortunately we did not enjoy our experience with this seafood business, servings staff was in polite food was quite good but we did not know the Final price prior to paying $80 for two adults
MoreThe lobster was fresh and delicious. The staff were friendly, accommodating and quite personable. We enjoyed our pit stop here.
MoreSeafood was good and yummy. But portion size was not enough according to the price. There is parking outside the premise. You get cooked food and fresh fish as well. Friendly staff and prompt service.
MoreIf your in a position to visit, do it! You will not be disappointed. Fish is as fresh as you can get and cooked perfectly. The beer batter is thin and crispy just like it should be. Staff are happy, friendly and passionate. Highly recommended.
More6 stars if I could.Firstly the service was amazing, we were about to order too much and instead of letting us waste out money they advised we had ordered enough. The ladies behind the counter were probably the nicest and helpful people we met on this Tassie trip. Then the food. Definitely lived up to all the top reviews on Google. We order the $125 platter and a doz oysters extra cause its Tassie and rude not to hehe. Everything cooked to perfection. Thanks again for making our last Tassie meal such a memorable one. Definitely head to the airport a little early to stop in here before or a free a flight.
MoreGreat Seafood. Lady who served us on the 13 apr morning was so friendly and nice. She even took out a live lobster to show my young son. Tasmanian lobster was fresh and tasty. Nothing like it. Think its better than wa lobster. Tassie salmon with chips was awesome loved it. Thank you. 100% recommend this place
MoreA really high quality oysters with the best value! Battered fish was fantastic too, no wonder they have been awarded as The Best Fish and Chips two years consecutively.
MoreWe went to the Drunken Admiral the night before and were very disappointed. This place was so much better and half the price. The half lobster was great, very fresh. We also had the deep fried lobster, it was really good. Even the kids fish was fantastic, it was real fish, not just out of the box.We were very impressed with Tasmanian Gourmet Seafood, especially for a place that we googled last minute while eating our disappointing and overpriced Drunken Admiral dinner. Also, the staff here were very friendly and happy to chat!
MoreThe food here was amazing, especially lobster and oyster! Fresh and the quality is really good.Recommended!
MoreThe best fish & chips Ive found down south. The batter on my fish was so light & crispy 😍 we had a late lunch and it was a public holiday. Highly recommend popping in here, we will go out of our way to eat here again
MoreThe best battered fish in my life.Chips need to be seasoned more but everything elses amazing. People who worked in the shop was so welcoming us kindly.
MoreFood was oily. Fish of the day wasnt good in taste although I never tried it before. Lobster was yum as expected.
MoreMy family and I had lunch at this establishment after returning from a scenic helicopter ride. This seafood cafe is very close to the Hobart airport, we have eaten here a number of times. We keep returning because the seafood is always cooked to perfection. One can choose a wide range of different seafoods from lobster, crab to fresh fish cooked to your liking crumbed, grilled or battered. I think the meals produced are worthy of five stars, I only marked it at four stars as the establishment isnt a white tablecloth type eatery, but it is a lovely clean casual type eatery. The lady that served us on Saturday lunchtime was friendly and professional. For anyone who loves very fresh seafood, cooked to perfection, then I can highly recommend Tasmanian Gourmet Seafoods.
MoreGreat place to start or end the Tassie journey indulging in Tassie seafood. A casual place with friendly staff right next to where all the car hire drop off / pickup point.
MoreDelicious fresh seafood. Lobster was sensational and well priced. Look forward to going back.
MoreAmazing quality and very good prices. The staff are really amazing and welcoming. Best seafood secret in Hobart!
MoreIt’s so good you can walk here have nice seafood especially when you need to came airport early. Cheap and fresh oysters and lobsters here!!
MoreWe received a friendly greeting and we chose to dine in prior to going to airport which is very close by. We both ordered fishermen’s baskets which were good. Toilets located out the back. Only three people allowed in shop front at a time due to Covid safety.
MoreMy husband always order the same Fish & Chips as it his favorite here. Strangely, my favorite at this place is their beef burger coz it’s nicely done and packed with bacon, fried egg, pineapple, beetroot & a fresh side of salad. The beef burger is huge, juicy & just nicely charred. All their seafood dishes are also very fresh & I would also highly recommend their lobster dishes.
MoreThe lobster is fair in price and is average in flavour. It is fresh indeed. The fish basket is average as the fish smell is present and the calamari and scallop seems over cooked. It may deserved the best fish and chips in 2017 but I doubt it isn’t right now.
MoreSuperb Tasmanian seafood in Hobart. The Fried Lobster with chips is superb and also the oysters.
MoreLove the food here. Whether its lobster, oysters or good o fish & chips. Always fresh and reasonable prices.
MoreWhat a pleasant surprise! Great food and really fresh seafood. The seafood chowder was amazing, really tasty, and full of seafood. The fishermans basket was great too and possibly had the best calamari and fresh creamiest oysters in Hobart + friendly service too!
MoreDisappointed, ordered battered flake, 3 potato cakes and chips. As the photos show flake and potato cakes were dripping in oil, the oil appears to be passed its best. The piece of flake was minuscule, made the trip to the supposed best, on this occasion this offering was far from the best.Poor effort. Poor product, poor value.
MoreA bit disappointed as they claimed it as the best fish and chip. Fish plate was good but squid was a bit too cooked, salty and a bit off coz it have a bit funny after taste. Dining area a bit too small, nice outdoor sitting and nice staffs.
MoreOrdered 1 Seafood basket + 1 Dozen of fresh Oysters. Fish battered and prawn battered is perfect, squid crumb is so crunchy and tasty, tartare sauce is so good, salad is well dressed and seasoned, the scallops are not good as I expected.Oysters are fresh and yummy. Will definitely come back to try lobsters and chowder.
MoreOH MY GOD... this place is absolutely AMAZING!Not only you can get the freshest Tasmanian Crays from here, you will also find the best casual seafood dining ever just off Hobart Airport.Less than 2 mins drive out from HBA or 20mins from Hobart City! Would highly recommended this preferred Cray & chips 🍟 🦞
MoreGood fresh fish. Unremarkable chips with no apparent seasoning or saucing options.
MoreBeen here three times twice in two days even. Close to the Hobart Airport, so you can have a bite while waiting for a flight, or sit outside very nice n calming area. They have Live crayfish n abalone, plenty of fresh fish to choose from with an eating area inside. The fish is cooked well with a yummy batter, and service is great....
MoreHands down best fish and chips in australia and probably the best fish and chips Ive ever eaten! Signage was clearly displayed by the roadside otw to midway point as australias best fish and chips and damn they werent wrong at all! Fresh oysters too. Staff was super friendly and smiley as well. MUST TRY! Oh and did i mention they have heart warming awesome seafood chowder soup as well? Super generous with seafood portion! 😍
MoreThe fish n chips here lives up to its name of being the best fish n chips of 2017. Getting the fish battered is the way to go I think. The blue grenadier (fish of the daywas carefully battered and fried to perfection. The two free lemon slices are a nice plus to add flavor to the fish. The chips were crispy, hot, and savoring. They also serve ice cream here for dessert after a delicious seafood meal. If youre on the way to Hobart, definitely make a quick stop to this place and try their fish n chips even if you dont like that stuff!
