Simple, cafe-style restaurant with Portuguese tapas reinvented by local celeb chef Vitor Sobral.
Fantastic dinner experience. Our waiter was awesome, the food was amazing. So happy with our choice, will definitely go back!
After a week the best restaurant in Lisbon we’ve been to. Had shrimp salad, scallops, and veal as main course. Nuns our waiter picked great wines. The one place we plan to return.Went back a second time and had the same great waiter. Was even better with goat, shrimp and fried fish with amazing risotto. Wines were great and they let you taste before they pour a glass. Had a local brandy to end the evening. Highly recommend.
Amazing place make sure you have reservation as very popular with local and visitors. Let the staff pick what you eat and drink. You will not be disappointed or overcharged
My favorite restaurant in Lisbon. Amazing food, outstanding service. Great wine selection. Cheese options are also amazing.
Fantastic restaurant with great service. Recommend the marinated fish starter!
We visited this restaurant on 28 July 2022.Unfortunately, my overall rating is 0 stars.Because the staff is such a crucial factor here, I feel compelled to write this review (even after several weeks). An absolutely arrogant and outrageous behaviour of the waiter(s).……………Friends of ours made a fabulous experience in this restaurant in 2019. For this reason, we invited them to this restaurant as a birthday gift. The reception was rather cold. There was a hint of unwelcomeness in the air.Questions about the menu, ordering or not ordering were commented on or partly questioned several times. Just an example: "You really want 2 bottles of water? Really? Are you sure?"Physical distance was also not respected: My wife had to lean backwards to avoid having her nose in the waiter’s armpit. All communication was accompanied by a constant arrogant undertone and corresponding body language. The tip of the iceberg was, that I heard our waiter joking about me with his colleague, because I only wanted to drink one glass of wine (ed.: I was the driver for that evening). And the whole thing in such a way that I was supposed to notice it. (Yes, that sounds unrealistic. I wouldnt believe it either if I hadnt experienced it myself).Normally I would have left the place immediately. But as it was a gift to our friends (ed.: and our friends including my wife do not understand Portuguese), I didnt want to ruin the evening, so I try to ignore the situation. It was the worst visit in a restaurant I ever experienced.------------------------The food was as expected. But could not really be enjoyed. On any speculation about discrimination, prejudice or other bias I will not comment here. Only something like that could rationally explain such a behaviour. For sure, this wasn’t only a “bad day” or a “wannabe” attitude. What remains to be said is, that I cannot and will not recommend this restaurant in any way. Never ever.@Vitor Sobral, for sure, this is not your policy.Very sad....
The quality of the service and the restaurant atmosphere did not match the foods and neither the fine dining prices. We booked many weeks in advance and were placed right at the entrance, The waiter told us there was no other place we could sit. High table, bar stools, bar/bistro style with all waiters constantly pacing back and forth or loitering next to us, Very uncomfortable bar like atmosphere and staff.Food was ok, the cockles in ginger tasted well, the side salad was well prepared, the bacalao fun, and main course veal filet tasted great, too, perfectly cooked. The main course octopus needed some contrast, the pairing with sweet potato did not do it well.I would rate the food at 4 stars and service and atmosphere at 2 stars.
The octopus was honestly one of the best I’ve had in Portugal, so tender. Otherwise all very good but probably when compared to more traditional tascas you’re always going to look at the price tag and that can make it hard to compete. Definitely somewhere for a special occasion, date night etc.
One of my favorite places in Lisbon. The staff is always kind (special thanks to Pedro!), and the food is amazing. Try out the Quindim for dessert!
Average traditional Portuguese food with above average price tag. The bread given to us was stale which I think should not be acceptable for a fancier place.
After 2 weeks in Portugal, I can confidently say this was our best meal (and we ate well!get the calamari (lulasand the the clams (a bulhão pato). The service was also PHENOMENAL and everyone was incredibly friendly. Will 100% be back. Obrigada!!
Great experience and service. Everything was perfect. Looking forward to return.
My goodness I love this restaurant. The service is exceptional and friendly. The wine list is fabulous with knowledgeable staff to guide you in the right direction. And the food…my goodness the food. The taste and flavors live up to every perfect picture on their Insta. We’ve been a few times now and cannot wait to be back.
An outstanding restaurant in the heart of a vibrant neighborhood . The food is meticulously prepared and served. The food has Portuguese roots but can satisfy any food palate. The combination of flavors is sensory satisfying. The combination of ingredients and presentation is quality . The staff is attentive and helpful! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a high quality dining experience!
I used to visit this place frequently from 2013 to 2018Its now just a shade of former glory. They do not more provide suprise me set menus... No more pulpa de fruta... Expensive, average wines. When I was first time in 2012 or 2013 all reds were extraordinary good, and now.... Forget about past selection of creame de la cream. Probably it was last visit.
Delicious authentic Portuguese food with modern feel. Would recommend
The food was amazing. It is a must go in Lisbon. I have a toddler and theyve cooked something simple and delicious to him, which made it easier for us to relax and enjoy!
The food was delicious (particularly the codfish carpaccio and the stewed veal), the wine selection was great and our waiter was incredibly hospitable and kind. Would highly recommend going!
I went 3 times to this restaurant when I visited Lisboa. The staff was very friendly, professional and charming. The food was great so was the wine pairing :-). I will definitely swing by during my next trip.
Delightful food, very good service and great wines. Definitely a place to go to
Despite an overall good service, the quality price ratio is very poor when compared to other high end restaurants in Lisbon. Furthermore, both of us suffered from food poisoning for several days and this was the only meal we shared that week. This could be just an unlucky seafood piece, but one would expect a lot more care for such a steep price.
Creative dishes in a small and cozy environment. Highly recommend both the tuna bitoque and the shrimp curry.
INCREDIBLE FOOD and incredible service!!Viktor Sobral has a phenomenal team. Like wow! They mad me so happy that I can’t recommend this place enough! The food was flawless. It was cooked with love, passion and perfection! Everything was perfect!Do your self a favour and eat here immediately. Hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten!!They even a own a bakery down the street. Go there too!
Nice place with a nice food and people. Highly recommend 👌
Delicious food - were able to whip up some options for the vegetarian food in our group.Fave dish - the tuna carpaccio.
A-MA-ZINGI had lunch with a friend and we took the chef menu with 6 courses and 4 wines.Food was great, wines too and service was second to none! Will be back to sample more food!
Amazing restaurant, shrimp with chilli to start and followed by the lamb shank and shrimp curry. Superb wines and a very helpful & knowledgeable waiter. The owner has a few places in Brazil so that influence is felt in the dishes.
I went for the 4 course tasting menu and really liked it: the food is good quality product with just the right dose of basic creativity added to it.This works well for me (sometimes it doesnt, when people try to innovate adding weird sauces that dont match, or mixes of food that kill the original flavours). I liked it here.Right the midpoint between a great local place serving basic traditional food, and 1 star michelin doing funky things with it. So is the price too in the middle.I would go back.My only complain was that all the customers were foreigners (but so am I, so I am complaining about myself).
Very very good. Kind staff , nice food and good drinks
Definitely recommend. For my wife and I this was our first stop in Lisbon (by chance -- it was one of the only restaurants open as it was a summer holiday. They "are always open" according to the waiter).Got some delicious Portuguese red wine, recommended by the waiter who was very helpful. Appetizers (shrimp tapas, soup of the day - leek, especiallywere delicious. We ordered the traditional codfish which was very tasty!
Delicious!! Did the 8 course tasting menu. Put myself “in the chef’s hands”It was filling, they were great about catering to food preferences (dairy free), and Hugo provided great service!!
Visited it, for the first time, two days ago. It was a bit late, for Portuguese standards, close to Spanish standards. We were lucky to get a table for 3 without too much wait. There was a reservation cancellation. So, its good to reserve in advance. It has 3 concepts: regular menu restaurant, tapas restaurant and degustation restaurant. We went for the tapas and loved the 3 orders that we shared. We felt also tempted to order pão de ló for the dessert. It was also excellent. Now, I like salty food but well have to admit that for average tastes, the amount of salt could be lowered a bit. The remaining taste enhancers are good and can sustain that decrease. And one can always add salt at the end... Although, I know, is not the same thing...The environment and decor is attractive and service is good.
We visited for dinner as a walk in because the place looked so inviting. I had the chef tasting menu and my wife had a couple of tapas. The price is same as upmarket London prices, with rather impersonal service. The portions were tiny and the tastes just OK... And underwhelming for the price. The wine waiter, and wine selections, were good though. If I was entertaining a customer, and put it in my business expenses then I would feel differently, but as a visitor to Lisbon I felt very disappointed.I later checked the reviews and it seems everyone else loves the place and its owned by a Portuguese famous chef. So, maybe its aimed at people who want to impress?
The tuna was amazing and the floating island just delicious
Everything was so salty, cold and oily. Was not a fan. To add insult to injury, the service was really slow too. This was for lunch. Cannot recommend.Surprise at the end: they charge for all the stuff like bread they bring you up front without asking. Pretty scammy.
Wonderful, wonderful food. A great mix of modern and classic. Also off the beaten tourist path which is always a plus. Highly recommended. Get something with salt cod and thank me later.
Very good restaurant and very kind of the staff to seat our large and rambunctious party! We did the 6 course tasting menu especially impressed by the fish and turkey courses. We very much appreciated these modern takes on traditional Portuguese dishes. Would definitely return!
Very hood restaurant and food.Only down side they serve you bread and cheese and olives at the beginning and it feels like complementary and in the end it is in your bill (that itself was about 8 euros approx)It would be highly appreciated if they asked if people want it.. rather than making people feel it is in the house (complementary)
Cool place. We had the 5 portion set with codfish as the primary theme. It was a really nice experience on a Sunday evening. The service was just perfect. We will definitely recommend the place to our friends.... We decided to go there once again for our last dinner before flying back home. Everything was exceptional again. Definitely our favourite restaurant in Lissabon. They really know what its all about. Cheers!
One of the very few places in Lisbon with great food. There is a waiter with perfect alabaster skin who looks like he was crafted by the Michelin starred chef. I asked him for skin tips, he gave me a wine list.
Superb Lunch. Really great products and exceptionally good wine pairing. Service was very amiable and went out of their way to make our lunch memorable. Well worth a detour if you are in the city.
Really good quality food and a great fine dining experience .Staffs are very friendly and knowledgeable.I would definitely recommend the tasting menus paired with wines and a dessert at the end. Bit pricey but definitely worth it!
Absolutely beautiful food pay for what you get when it comes to fresh food and would honestly say worth it !!! Fantastic service really helpful and knowledgeable staff! Octopus was the best dish Ive eaten.
A higher end dining experience in a quieter Lisbon neighborhood. Great service and food was delicious however the chefs tasting menu portion sizes were too small and I was left hungry at the end. The value wasnt there. Better to order the larger sized petiscos rather than chefs choice.
Fantastic place with superb food. Highly recommend.
Elevated traditional dishes in a comfortable atmosphere. Mostly local customers, very fair prices given the high quality food.
Fantastic hostess , servers , chef and manager .All came by with excellent recommendations for the meal and wine and port. Very welcoming!Excellent food , and atmosphere is chic bistro, tapas is available, as are three , four , five or more courses of food.
Food was hard to fault, one star dropped for the service - which started out great but was inattentive by the end of our evening. This place seems to be headed by a celebrity chef who (judging by the books dotted aroundspecialises in sandwiches. But the food on offer was much more diverse.Focusing on excellent produce executed relatively simply, the food here majors on flavour. The tuna, very lightly sauted and served in its cooking juices with a few herbs, was incredible. Sauted prawns also good - interestingly flavoured with rosemary which was almost too strong. The deconstructed classic dish of cod with fried egg and potatoes was pure comfort eating - although the delicate flavour of the cod (which should be the star of the showwas somewhat lost amongst the stronger flavours of egg yolk and sweet onion chutney. Also worth a mention was the roasted quail. Expertly done to give a wonderfully crisp skin while retaining the moisture of the meat inside.Came in at 66 euros, including desert, two glasses of wine and coffee, and a superior selection of breads with fish pate, olives and goat cheese. Not at all bad although slightly pricier than other places we visited.
A must try when in Lisbon. They have a cosy sitting area next to big bright windows and an open kitchen. The sirloin steak, blood sausage, cheese and olives were fantastic. Decor is rustic and service very friendly. Will be back on our next visit.
Very nice restaurant, relaxed atmosphere, but high quality food. Even though it wasnt on the menu, they served a nice and varied vegetarian 4 course menu for my wife, while I had the regular menu. Very reasonable price.
