Taro in Prague
Description
Privilege
Amazing place! Friendly staff, great food and very cozy. Its an open kitchen space so you can see everything they do. The tasting menu was superb and the wine selection was excellent! Will definitely go again.
MoreI visited this place for a dinner. The meal was ok but really nothing special (in comparison with similar restaurants). The size of portions surprisingly varied for the very same meal which is a bit strange. I can imagine someone enjoyes the restaurant, but unfortunately my experience didnt match the expectations.
MoreExcellent tasting menu. Most of the seating is round the kitchen so you can see the food being prepared. Great service. Menu changes every few months based on the season
MoreAmbitious Asian fusion. Lunch 650 czk 4 course menu is excellent value. Best was the fish curry. Some natural wines by the glass
Morebest food experience so far :)great service, great food
Taro was one of the best tasting menus Ive ever had, and my favorite meal in Prague. Chef Khahn is a well-traveled chef who takes inspiration from Asian cuisine and uses European cooking techniques to bring his dishes to life.Out of the 8 courses, I really enjoyed 6 of them, and 2 of them were okay, but not bad. The portion sizes were great, starting with 5 small starters and then getting larger as you get to the main courses. The food was great, but the staff made the experience amazing. They explain each dish to you in detail, and are some of the friendliest people Ive met in Prague. I really enjoyed our conversation with Chef Khahn, and the staff provided great recommendations for food and drink to make sure we enjoyed the rest of our time in Prague.Highly recommend Taro to anyone looking for a unique fine dining experience in Prague.
MoreI usually go to more casual places. Where you get normal meals. But this place was amazing. Everything they served was awesome. Please go here. And thank you to the chef and staff
MoreWe visited for my birthday and it was definitely a wonderful experience! You are seated right around the open kitchen, where the hosts and cooks attend to your every need. Alongside the 8-course meal I highly recommend both the wine pairing and non-alcoholic pairing of homemade drinks. Preferably to share with someone!
MoreAmazing.
What a nice experience ! Wine pairing dinner was perfect with this Vietnamese-European fusion kitchen that was just great ! Service was so good and friendly ! All the ream was reunited to make all the guests around a perfect trip ! Thank you guys!
More8-courses Vietnamese- european blended Food, deliciosa nur guglear overo rices. We were told will be 40€ per Person - finally we paid 160€ for 2 persons: had 1 Beer, 1 Glas simple white wine, 1 Bottle water and 1 Coke.Totally overpriced! We didn’t feel to discuss the bill - realized we stepped into the Prag - Tourist trap
MoreWhat a true pleasure! We were amazed by every single one of the eight dishes, great wine pairing. Everything prepared in front of you in open kitchen. This restaurant blew us away and we can only very very much recommend it!
MoreVery cozy smallish place where youll enjoy watching the performance of the cooks from the first row, feels a bit like theatre :Quality of food is OK, nothing special, its more about the presentation and experience which i think is definitely worth it. Service is great always ready to cater to your wishes. All in all definitely a must try.
MoreExcellent experience. Lovely food, very nice and knowledgable waiters, interesting interior. They change the evening degustation menu every 2 months ;Will come back again for the next one in March!
MoreOne of the best food Ive eaten my whooooole life. Me and my girlfriend were there 31th december and ate a 10 course menu and it was woooow. The service was perfect, the chiefes were perfect and the whole experience was very very good. They explainde for us what every course was made of and the taste was amazing. I will definitley go there again and would recommende everyone. My girlfriend is vegetarian so and the vegeterian food was as good as the (no vegetarian food). She was very satisfied.
MoreReally good food and an excellent service
Amazing Asian fusion with a touch of European flavors prepared and served in front of you along with professional explanation. Every meal is a pleasure to the eye and to the palate. Original idea of having only up to 24 people around the kitchen makes it romantic while entertaining. Would definitely recommend and for sure coming back. Bravo to the amazing staff!
MoreThe wine pairing is good, but food wise only can say it’s interesting but not as good as I expected.
MoreDelicious. Top! Recommend to visit!
One of the best culinary experiences Ive ever had. They change the menu a few times a year, so Ill be sure to drop in when I visit Praha again. Just go there and be prepared for a symphony of taste.
MoreCelebrating house approval with delicious food dellivery.
Reservations are recommended. They only have 17 seats. We had dinner during a beautiful rainstorm. We chose the 7 course tasting menu. The staff was accommodating and attentive. The flavors blended well. I recommend this place and I would definitely go back again.
MoreTrying very hard but clearly not understanding the less is more theory. Overrated, beyond average & definitely not worth the money. Seems a lot of Czech upper priced restaurants are stuck in a time warp mixing far to many continents, styles & flavours & calling it fusion. Fusion is great if kept simple. Sadly, two dishes were bitter & another ruined by over powering & non complimentary flavours. Wine taster menu for two at £70 consisting of 5 local wines were expensive & unexceptional. Explanations of presentations were long & unnecessary especially given the disappointing result. Most plates can be found in many London street food market. Service was charming & friendly. Cocktails delicious! Loved the Chili vodka passion fruit.Sorry to be the bad guy but the food was a waste of time & money.
MoreAbsolutely amazing dining experience!
Too pricey for what it is. Many flavours sometimes fighting each other. Sousvide slow cooked proteins at low temperature overnight and seared before serving on the charcoal oven. Good idea and works, but unfortunately trying too hard to create a flavour explosion without the deliverance.
MoreUnfortunately I have to say that I was disappointed. I had the 7-course menu and 3 courses were very good, but 4 were disappointing, especially for the standards that the restaurant sets to itself. For instance, two small pieces of a summer roll with some avocado puree are not really top notch. The same for the rather boring ramen soup or the course with trout. The homemade lemonade tasted like ice cubes with a shot of lemon.I really dont know why this place is rated 5 stars but I guess that most of the people who rated so high do not visit good restaurants very often. That doesnt mean Taro is a bad restaurant, it is definitely a good one. The quality of the ingredients and presentation was fantastic but not everything is top notch and the price level is rather high by Prague standards. The service was mostly ok. All in all there is definitely room for improvement. I would rate it 3.5 stars.
MoreHad a pleasant experience at Taro. Interesting atmosphere, great food and friendly service. This was the first time for my friend to try Vietnamese/Asian cuisine and she really liked it. 🤗 The chef seems to enjoy the food at well since he tried some every now and then while cooking. 😛When in Prague, eat Vietnamese. When eat Vietnamese, visit Taro. 😏
MoreFood is nice but overall experience is quite poor. There is a choice between vegetarian tasting menu and regular one. If you’re a vegetarian you don’t qualify for a 7 course menu like the ones who have the regular menu. Some of the dishes from the regular menu actually were vegetarian but the vegetarians “didn’t (quite hilariouslyqualify for them because of the (so calledstructure”. So we looked at our friends hungrily while they ate and waited for the dish we did qualify for. Every time the dish is served, expect a dude pointing at it with his fingers for prolonged minutes explaining every ingredient while the food is getting cold. Around 10:15, while we were still eating, the staff started to thoroughly and quite loudly clean the entire space. When I pay this price for a tasting menu, at least leave me to enjoy it quietly without trying to make me feel I should get the hell out. We were a group of Czech and English speakers who understand both, English and Czech and didn’t really care what language we would interact. The staff quite arrogantly requested multiple times for us to pick a language (we often switch and the staff was quite fluent in bothso we picked English but said “thank you” in Czech, which really upset the staff member who said: “I told you to pick a language”. Not really pleasant. Food is nice but the service is so Czech that it’s beyond fixable. Some staff training might help.
MoreAmazing Asian restaurant where you sit at a bar and you can see directly in the kitchen. The food is served by people who understand it well and are able to answer all the questions about it. The service was great and the atmosphere was friendly.
MoreThe food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and profesional. It is a very cozy restaurant. Even if the place is quite small and that there is a open kitchen it’s not so noisy which I appreciate very much. It is very nice to see they prepare the food in front of you. I will definitely go back when I visit Prag next time.
MoreAmazing Asian-European fusion fine dining restaurant with open kitchen. Ive been here twice for a dinner. You can watch crafty cooks at work being served by flawless waiter and the cooks themselves with a presentation for each course. The price for 7-course menu is corresponding the quality and you will have two courses and one drink "for free". Pairing with wine is possible. The menu changes four times a year. Must-repeat experience!
MoreI really liked the restaurant and the idea. That have 2 menus for dinner (I’ve never been for lunch), which is season. The first time it impressed me, it became one of my favourite restaurants in the city, so I came back when they launched the new menu. This second time was disappointing, I was hungry at the end (we took the long menu), and I felt the service was attentive until we did not give tips and no one even said goodbye to us.However, despite this time that I don’t want to take into account, the food is delicious, the dishes are plenty of flavours. I will definitely go back, try the new menu, since at the end I love the local, environment and the food.Small note: the wine list is not too extended, with no very special wines.
MoreWe had a fantastic experience at Taro. Great 7 course menu, great wine, great stuff.Outstanding and delicious food creations.
MoreFeeling of an expected guest, kind service, amazing menu with a smart wine selection, together with an open and clean kitchen bring rewarding experience of the day... Far east menu - yes!... I would be delighted to visit the place again!
MoreYes.Yes. Yes. Yes!An AMAZING meal with a fantastic experience! We went for the 7-course meal and each and every bite was as satisfying as the explanation and the culturally appetizing explanation that came before each plate. Plan on two hours and ENJOY!4 May 2019Went back again for another AMAZING experience!! Will continue to go. The flavors are incredible!
MoreThis place is absolutely recommended. The Asian fusion cuisine they serve is original, well balanced and perfectly presented. Top class as you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. The service is also amazing, very friendly staff and an excellent explanation of every dish. Finally the fact you can only sit at the bar which is made around the kitchen allows you to see the dish being made right in front of you. In general a top experience for a more then reasonable price (around 1500 czk for the 7 course degustation menu)
MoreEach plate is amazing enough to make you want more but not big enough to satisfy your craving fully. Yet you leave pleasantly full, but not bloating. Amazing Asian fusion restaurant that combines various Asian cuisines not only in the set menu, but in every single dish, surprisingly paired with European wines. If you traveled about Asia a bit, you will be able to see combinations of Balinese, Javanese, Vietnamese and other cuisines in individual tastes. Loved every single things here!!!!
MoreWe stumbled by this amazing restaurant almost by accident. Its extremely nontraditional - you dont know what you get served. Its only possible to choose from a 4 or 7 course menu. You can see the chefs working on the dishes and admire the dedication they give every plate. I must admit I was enjoying every single bite. Well done!
MoreLovely place. Modern Asian fusion. Must visit. Note: for dinner only sampling menu - 4/7 courses. Had smaller one (before a movieand it has been ages since I really liked all courses from tasting menu. Next time, 7 courses to try. Disadvantages: two months of same menu from now on (well, they can even keep improving, which is fine), and some can find it weired that almost all seats are at the “bar”. Excellent service, really top! See you again soon.
MoreNew experience for my taste buds! Best food I ever had. Cheerful and professional stuff :)))
MoreWent for the 4 course meal. Enjoyed the modern setting and tasty dishes. Although the portions were quite small, the flavors were delicate and fun.
MoreThe dishes are a gastronomical delight and the service was personal. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of food. Definitely worth a visit but do allocate some time as food may take some time to serve. Best meal I had in Prague!
MoreGreat food and service experience. You get what you pay for and the quality and service was superb. Every dish was a pleasant surprise and the cook who cooked it introduced it.
MoreOk so it’s actually that good we went for lunch and dinner on the same day...no more words needed eh?Creative fusion dishes with Asian flavorsLunch: approx 500 czk per head/2.5 coursesDinner: approx 1000 czk per head/ 4 coursesWith wine I think it would be some more as we had only beer, tea and lemonade.
MoreWe enjoyed our evening at Taro. Amazing food, friendly staff, great experience!
Wonderful Asian restaurant. Great experience and nice service. Absolutely reasonable prices.
MoreWas a wonderful experience for our very first night in Prague! The food was amazing. Great ambience and service as well. Adam looked after us so well throughout the evening and all the food he prepared was absolutely amazing. The tasting menu at Taro was very good - fusion food perfectly balanced with Vietnamese flavours. Definitely would reccomend to anyone coming up to Prague!
MoreWhat a lovely surprise at this part of Prague. The location is strange. Andel district is not packed with gourmet places. But the food! I have enjoyed a business lunch here and have been truly delighted. This is almost gourmet level quality yet the bistro style interior allows for more relaxed atmosphere. The portions could me smaller, the combinations a bit simpler, otherwise top rating.
MoreDelicious tasting menu. Great food, relaxed atmosphere, cool cocktails, nice people.
MoreNice environment and very good dining experience. Good to see there is a creative soul in Prague. I grow up in Asia and traveled frequently, some of dishes are similar to what I had, not too many sirprises; however, I do appreciate them bring this beautiful concept and authentic flavour to Prague.
