Tapas Flavors of Spain - Spanish restaurant in Irvine, United States
The food is horrible, such shame because it is a nice venue.
Highly disappointed. We made reservations for today Friday September 27, 2019 at 7:45 p.m. for a party of 9 through Yelp and upon arrival the restaurant is completely closed. We would have appreciated notice of the restaurants closure at least through website.
Not worth it, $30 change at the door even if you just want to get a beer. Bodyguard was rude and it seemed like he didnt want us to be there.
I was there only for dancing salsa and bachata, the kitchen was closed. I suggest they should have some appetizers or tapas ready for sale to the dancers. I was hungry and had to drive all the way back to San Diego and aTacos el Gordo H. St saved the day. Lol
Went on Thursday night. Place smelled like sewage, food not good, service was not good but that is because they only had one person doing everything. The highlight was that there was live music and dancing.
I have been here 3 times. All 3 times I have been disappointed by the quality of the food and slow service. I rarely post. I had wings this last time. They were very dry and over cooked. The time before that I had chicken street tacos that had so much gristle and did not taste good. The service is poor as well.
Food was really good. We did family style and shared a lot of different dishes. The house 🥘 Paella was great the noodles had so much flavor! The flamenco performance was entertaining but a bit noisy. We had a hard time talking to one another and parts were louder than I think they should have been. Try it out. I was recently in Barcelona and or course the paella is better there but this one was still great and not something very easy to find here in southern California
So my siblings and I were planning to take our parents out for their Saturday night which was described as a night of Cumbia, merengue, and salsa. My sister had called multiple times and no one ever explained an age limit or the fact that there was a $20 charge for each person, even if you were eating beforehand. When we stayed for the night we were irritated to find out that the “club” was going to be playing radio music until 10:30 when the band comes in. There were legitimate commercials playing at high volume and no one dancing on the floor. When we went to try to talk to the promoter about the music or a possible refund he just had his body guard talk to us. Food was barely okay, sangria could’ve been better, and the service was horrible. Last thing is their website also has no information on any of this. If there’s a charge to get in, some change in your line up, or you want no refunds then you should put all of that on your website.
Dont go have dinner on this place. There you cant have a conversation or listen to the mission because the DJ in the show talking all the time with the microphones so loud that will hurt your ears.It was the worse dinner night I had in a long time. Extremely irritated.
This is a location that you go to if you are from a Latin country and you want to feel, "A Touch of Home" or you have not been to a Flamenco show before. The food is good, but very very small portions, I mean $8 for a golf ball-sized scoop of mashed potatoes with a dollop of sauce. The staff is very attentive.
It was okay... prices raised since the Newport location and portions cut in half. I mean if your DESPERATE for some kind of flamenco its not... a complete abomination to say the least but its not like they have Claudia De La Cruz anymore so... if they still could book Claudia Id be there weekly, with friends.
Although the food and entertainment was fantastic, the atmosphere of the restaurant was a little lacking, service was slow with nothing to complement, and the bar/bar selection was a bit of a let down. Food was not terribly priced and was full of flavor with a very packed menu. Overall I will likely visit again.
It was absolutely a terrible experience. My girlfriend and I stopped in for a beer at the bar . We were informed that there was a band and there was a cover charge starting at 10 PM. We were there a little earlier than that.we were not there for the band just a quick beer . I went to use the rest room and when I came out I found the bouncers harassing my girlfriend asking her to leave . They were so unprofessional and very aggressive. We will never be back . I will call the management to make an official complaint.
This Tapas is nothing.g like the Tapas in Costa Mesa. This restaurants food is just "meh" and there is a strange lingering odor in the air. Wouldnt come back but I would rather go to the Costa Mesas Tapas.
Loved the atmosphere! Great flamenco show and an great cumbia band later in the night. Drinks are good, food was Ok but not amazing. Ordered a bunch a tapas. Ceviche was the best one. Great service too. Ill definitely be back just for the entertainment and service.
The food was cold, serving size was incredibly small. I paid $70 for new years eve dinner and flamenco show. The food was bland and not worth the money at all. Extremely dissapointed. They ran out of many ingredients and even the dessert of the included 4 course meal. I sent the food back to be reheated, it came back warm. The only reason I gave it some stars it because of the flamenco show and the ambience. I do NOT recommend eating here at all. But I do recommend coming at night for drinks and fun.
Just as the another reviewer says: service is great, food so so. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. They give a simple salsa dancing lesson on Friday (maybe also Satnight
This is not tapas AT ALL! Meatballs were not from scratch, I can tell the difference between frozen processed meat in canned tomato suace and a homemade meatball. This was definitely frozen meatballs. Shrimp bisque was watery and turned my stomach. Tasted old!! The flan tasted store bought. Rubbery without any syrup, oh! And the sauce that came with the bread...wow...mayonnaise mixed with ketchup 🤣🤣 really??? The only thing good here was the entertainment, do not go here!
Cocktails were ok . Service was pretty good but food was cold. A large brown spider and ants were next to our table on window sill , grossed me out. Left with a bad taste in my mouth . I would never go back.
We had a lot of fun, service was really slow...got left alone for long stretches of time. Litterly had to walk around and ask many people to get our check...
Friday nights are hot girls with no partners. But you gotta know how to dance.
Excellent venue for a fun Latin music gathering! We had a lot of fun!
No really good food and service but the place and music are cool
I really enjoyed the entertainment. Flamenco show was very good and the salsa music on Friday was fun, the service was great, plenty space for dance. The only bad thing is the food, the Sea food Paella is very small portion and over price for that, the taste was NOT good neither 👎.Sea food linguini was ok. Is better if you can eat outside and just come around 10 PM for dance .
Went here for Happy Hour and even though it was listed in the menu, they claimed that there were no longs any Happy Hour specials. There were 6 of us and we were the only people in there. It took 45 mins to get appetizers. Service was very poor. 2 of my friends had to order drinks 3 times because they did not make them correctly. Food was horrible. I would never recommend going here it was one of the worse places I have ever been!!!
Bad Bad Bad place!! Extremely Dissappointed. I went there for my Birthday and I had the worst experience ever! The service was terrible. Host staff nasty. We ordered food and it never came. I talked to the manager and he didnt do anything about it. If you plan to go to a nice place to have a good time, DO Not go there this place is terrible.
Great cava sangria, live shows on the weekend but they get booked up early, make reservations
Super fun place! Flamenco dancing, salsa, paella & sangria - love it!
This place is really nice and they have a live Latin Band on Saturdays and they are awesome!
Theres plenty of room to dance tonight and enough seating when your e want to rest.LOL
We are totally happy with the Service and the Staff.Very Professional and Kind.Food so delicious...!!!Congratulations
The sounds of music was very distortion we dont understand anything theyre talking about the Dj. His music was so bad we not even dance all nights keep the salsa live with Alex like when you guys were in Newport Beach
Really enjoyed the food and entertainment. Flamenco show was very good and the salsa music and crowd afterwards was fun to watch.
Awesome music, drinks and the people are really nice to dance with
Nice fun, great dance floor, didnt try the food
Food was great but service was spotty and inconsistent.. had to ask for a spoon 3 times.
The food and presentation of the food was delicious! I ordered and loved my steak kabob, which was juicy, delicious and more than I could finish. It was our first time here and we came as a party of 10. Some of us didnt get our food for a while, but when we did, it was worth it. We went during a flamenco show, so it was hard to talk to each other over the very loud music. Well try again perhaps at a time before the show. Definitely a place to try!
If you plan on going to a club that is in a mall and pretend you are in LA sure go a head but if you want to go for dinner and entertainment as they advertise be warned you need to be inside before 8 pm and dont leave to make a call outside and try to get back in to finish you dinner with your family as they will make you stand outside in a line with people trying to come in for the nightclub session as they claim to be nightclub after 8 crowd control for all three people standing in line is critical and even if your family is inside you have to wait in line. Needless to say an experience I would not like to have again. They finally let me in when I told them I am the one paying the bill and if they wont let me finish my meal there is no reason for me to wait to pay!
SService was great. Portions were like appetizers. Tasty but small.
This is a super fun place to go to with friends and family! The food, the shows, the dancing - its great!
The food was absolutely horrible. If you have ever spent any time in Spain (or gone to the fabulous but now-closed Guapas Tapas in SJC), do not go to this restaurant. The first tip off was the “Brava” sauce served with the bread, which was a barely disguised mayonnaise and had no trace of the rich garlic, chile and smoked paprika that makes up an authentic sauce. Crab croquettes were gummy, empanadas had a sauce on them that tasted like it was made with a gravy packet, figs were not fresh and the sauce served with them tasted like marmalade from a jar. The window ledge we were seated near was dirty and had ants crawling on it. I guess people come here for the flamenco and entertainment? If you do, eat before you get here.
The manager is rude and keeps pushing people around. Thy even have reserved signs on tall tables around the bar and you dont eat they dont want you there. Let alone if you are not alcohol dirnker like me. They have no room for people to stand yet they charge you $12 to get in. For what?! For that nerve breaking band with their long ugly songs?! I think DJ does much better of a job. And lastly the food sucks and I am so happy I was not poisoned by their food when ai didnt know about the quality. This place in their last location had cock roach in their kitchen and I saw this from the parking lot where their kitchen back door opened to. So sad. How would anyone know if they dont have it here. Same owner and God knows same service and obviously lack of protocols. They dont even deserve one star. I boycut them a while ago and hear others are doing it, too. Many of people I met there have the same complaint about the manager. He is so unrpofessional and has no clue about customer service.
Very very bad quality foods!!!! I am not Spanish but had very good Spanish food here in state and in Spain and it is nothing close to it!!!I don’t even know why they call it restaurant??It is a hangout place that’s all!Food 👎
I went here for a late dinner but did not stay for the "night club" aspect. I liked the atmosphere and the restroom was clean... and Ive nothing else positive to say. The service was friendly but far too slow; it took 45 minutes to get paella (which was very underwhelming, it was mostly just rice). With other dishes it took about 25 minutes each, for simple tapas, not big plates. The empanadas were soggy and soft. The calamari was fine (but slow, again). The sangria was OK but just OK. I did not go here for happy hour, maybe this place is more fun for that... provided the service is faster. Overall, I would only go here again for happy hour AND if invited by a friend. But I would provide a warning about my previous experience here and take the opportunity to say "I told you so" if it ends poorly again.
Extremely DISAPPOINTED. Having lived in Spain, I was so excited that a Tapas restaurant and night club was opening up in town. We were really shocked at just how bad this restaurant was. We ordered the olives to start, which tasted like they were straight from a can. Still excited to be in a “Spanish” place I ignored them and we decided to order the bruschetta. The waiter returned to tell us that they were out of bread....instead we just ordered one of their vegetable paella’s to share. Oddly, 5 minutes later a different waitress comes by asking if we would like a basket of bread. Confused as to why we had just been denied bread earlier, but hey suddenly had some now we said yes. Starving, we had a pulled off some pieces and started to eat the bread. Not only was this bread DEFINITELY not freshly made, it tasted like it had been sitting in a plastic bag for months as was probably close to expiration. At this point we were getting really upset by the clear lack of concern for authentic or even quality food. Wary for our paella, the waiter told us that it should be out any minute. An hour went by with him apologizing profusely, and finally our paella arrived. Our “vegetable” paella only had bell peppers in it. Nothing else. Bell peppers and rice. And I am not exaggerating when I say it tasted like a boxed rice mix and frozen bell peppers. We took one bite and even as starving as we were decided our experience here was now over. The manager refunded our paella which was thoughtful, but this place has no business advertising as a “Spanish” restaurant. I have to say that the salsa dancing and flamenco was fun to watch, but other than this, a huge let down in every way.
The place has a foul odor as you walk in. Took a long time for our food to arrive, and they brought everything out together. Food was cold and way below average. I would not even define the food as tapas (definitely not what I had in mind). The paella was more like a bad/overcooked rissoto than paella. This place is neither a great restaurant nor a great night club. Service was below average.
This place is what I needed, I dont have to drive far from home...music was off the wall and Gabriel and Vero were not only outstanding and professional but helpful and fun too! Food was great too! Props to the cooks!
Love this place! I am picky when it comes to restaurants, but I can say I really enjoy this one. The food is always good. The staff is friendly and welcoming. My friends and I dance here often, and the vibe is always fun.
Dancing is cool. Food service is complete GARBAGE! We made a reservation a week ago and when we got there they didnt seat us for 30 MINUTES! When we got seated it took them an hour for them to take our order, and when I ordered a steak they said they ran out of steak when dinner BARELY STARTED (8 pm). So I had to order their other dish which was chicken and it took them 2 HOURS for then to bring me my dish! It was 10 pm I was fed up the chicken was soggy and the sauce on top was to watery. DONT GO HERE!
I was trying to get dinner since 9:30 and they told me kitchen was close and in order to get in I have to pay cover, later I find out kitchen was open until 10 ,staff are rude and with bad attitude specially the people at the door.
