Cascading waterfalls are the highlight of this popular & picturesque natural attraction.
Cool waters, there is a bit of a hike so prepare but overall experience should be great including the jeepney ride.
Went to the falls with a group of 50 people, weather was good. Approx 5-10 minutes orientation before heading to the destination, we were originally going to take 3 jeepneys, but we made it 4 so that it wasnt crowded. Slightly regretted that decision (although it was also a very fun experiencesince the way was very steep, you will feel your buttocks sliding left and right on the seat. Some of us got tired holding on and we relied on our seatmates to keep holding for us while we leaned on each other. It didnt feel like it took too long, probably 30 to 60 minutes on the jeepneys, but it was fun nonetheless. The "hike" was around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the pace, but we all took a lil break at the middle. Some portions had steep stairs, some portions were a little muddy. I used normal flip flops and it was a little tiring trying to keep the flipflops on my feet, but would definitely recommend sandal-slippers with straps instead. Also, there are some vendors selling beverages and snack along the way, and they have seats too.Theres life vests for rent, 50 Php for one, and you can use it as long as you want. The guides double as lifeguards, but they mostly kept an eye out on those that seemed older, but they were helpful nonetheless.Food was okay to bring, we shared them with our tour guides, and kept all the trash for disposal back at the proper.Bring water and snacks with you, and extra cash.
If youre into buwis-buhay and breathtaking (out-of-breathtrip, then this is for you. From San Gabriel, we rented a jeep going to Tangadan Falls. Not sure how much the rent was and the entrance since we paid for an all-expense trip to La Union so everything was settled by our coordinator. It took us about 40 minutes (jeepney ride + walk to the fallsto reach our goal. This is famous for the jeepney ride going to/from the falls and the Falls steep hike. Make sure to bring extra clothes if youre planning to swim and reliable footwear as the walkway leading to the falls may be slippery. I walked barefooted!!! On top of all these, make sure to do your cardio before going, trust me. I hope they install zipline or cable cars in the future, just kidding. The trip down the falls is what makes this one a unique experience.
Stunning view. A bit pricy on the ride and tour guide but worth it. the ride to the falls is so long but fun. Informative local tour guide. Long walk from ride drop off to Water Falls. Hiking going back was tiring but theres a lot of stop to rest.
You have 2 options to go, first is by taking a jeepney for about 30 mins and 20 minutes to walk down to the falls the other option is by hiking for an hour or so (depends on your pacingto reach the falls. Personally recommend hiking cuz you’d have the chance to do cliff diving. Do bring cash with you for life vest rental. The falls looks stunning and really worth the hike. Will definitely be back again if theres a chance.
It was one hella great ride going to this majestic falls. The habal-habal ride going to the falls was totally fun. So thankful for our tour guide for being our driver, photographer and also lifeguard. Must try for travelers who wants adventures 😌👌
The water is so refreshing after the short trail going down since the water is cold, make sure you know how to swim if you don’t have a life vest, although you may rent there. You need a guide in order to go here and you may rent a jeepney or motorcycle (habal-habal).
The place was really amazing, the water is cold. You need a guide to get to the place. They will assist you in everything. Going there, much better to rent a jeep or bring your own motorcycle for the road is really stiff going up, down with a zig zag while the path is narrow. needs an expert driver going to and fro.
Very clean and prestine, must try!!
The only caveat is the short trekking. The way is paved but not suitable for those with knee problems. Trekking back with stiff stone stairs is tiring. I would recommend jeepneys for rent near the municipal hall. Tour guides are there also and are very cheap. If youd use your own car, dont bring a sedan, youll regret it. Slopes are as stiff as 50 degrees. Overall, it was well worth it.
It is a small adventure is you are visiting the near by beach area of LA Union. Worth the 3 to 4 hours of your day to see and take a dip in the cold waters of the falls
you have to trek for around an hour to reach the place. there was a water snake when we went to the fall. but overall, the place was nice and relaxing. cliff jumping is a must try.
We had a wonderful experience visiting Tangadan Falls. A total of 3hrs trekking back & forth (we dont have proper trekking gears just Birkenstock Arizona & Madrid EVAs).We enjoyed unlimited cliff jumping at 25ft & 12ft platforms (rock formation).Cold & energizing water. So if youre feeling exhausted, just have yourself a quick dip.The dam itself served us well during our trek back at the parking camp. There are several stops like 4 mini-stores if I can remember it right.Best to discover the area with an experienced Tour Guide. We had Kuya Samuel, very reliable & trustworthy.
Nature lovers will find this gem in the mountains a great place to keep coming back to for the serene ambiance. The hike to and from the parking area is part of what makes the experience memorable, though it might be a little challenging for older folks and for those who have difficulty walking. The water is cold in the early morning and just right upon noontime. Be cautious as the rocks in the water are slippery since they are covered with moss. Other than that, this place is really amazingly cool!
Enjoyed the clear and refreshing water of Tangadan Falls. Just be ready for the steep hike back to the parking space. I also loved the winding road and the scenic view of the LA Union plain.
At the mountainous part of San Gabriel, La Union, one of the indigenous town located at the western part of the province, lies the majestic TANGADAN FALLS. Majestic as it seems since it is analogically compared to a masterpiece that was magically turned into a reality. The spot is definitely an epitome of perfection because even at this moment that its ambiance already possesses a bit of modernity, one can still feel Mother nature’s touch that could calm senses, cleanse souls, heals broken hearts and paves way to the realization of God’s amazing and wonderful creation.Tangadan Falls is located at brgy. Amontoc of the said municipality. At about three to four years ago, it started to create its wave to local and later on to foreign tourists attractions through the vast influence of social media in the global society. It is not bad at all since the falls could put in line with other famous and more famous tourist destinations in the province and in the Philippines. Aside from its natural view which provides mother nature’s healing power, one of its edge is its very affordable entrance fee. It might give a little inconvinience to those who are not used to travelling, walking or trekking, but to the majority who finds exploration as a thrill, it is very exciting that goes with climbing up the mountain to finally reach up the amazing tangadan falls, you get the chance to interact with the physical world. There are two ways to reach Tangadan Falls. First is through a one-hour trek along the Baroro River. With the City of San Fernando as the starting point, you can reach the town of San Gabriel through a jeepney. From there, you can ride a tricycle to reach the first jump off. Defined by a mixture of meaningful stroll, hike and exercise, this routine is very suitable for those who are fond of adventure. Another jump off is through riding a car beyond the town after which is a 20-minute hike down to the majestic falls. This routine is for those who are not capable of walking, hiking and trekking long distances. Since the destination is already under San Gabriel LGU, there is a required entrance fee that varies accordingly but above all, it is still very much affordable for everyone whatever economic status they possess. Surely, one can regain his energy just as after viewing the natural beauty of falls.Upon arrival at the Tangadan Falls, about 40-feet tall of falling water welcomes everyone. Exactly below the falls is a huge and deep basin-like or pool-like water area which attracts tourists to have their once-in-a-lifetime adventure in the spring-cold waters. At the top of the falls where the water starts to fall, another basin-like water area that is equally attractive with the one situated below anticipates people especially those who need a calmer environment. At the entrance, man-made cottages are located for those who want to have lunch at the place. There are also stores that sell commodities, as they were built for everyone’s conveniences. In terms of security, life jackets are available and life-guards are all around. It was guarded very well as a mandate of the municipal government. To those who want to visit the place for two or more days, there is no available lodging house, inn or hotel at the municipality so they have to travel to San Juan where they could stay during the nights. Good thing is it just takes few minutes to reach the said place since it is just in the neighborhood. Although Tangadan Falls is a perfect destination during summer time, it is often closed to local and foreign tourists during rainy season due to the possibility of danger due to typhoons, storms or strong and continous rains. Above all, updates from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council are continously given to direct and guide those who wants to visit the place.-launiontayo.com.ph
Going to Tangadan Falls is really a breath taking experience..We rode on top of jeep(top load)..it was quite thrilling. The place is so awesome,be sure to take pictures w/ your bakardakas its a worthy fun filled experience🥰🎂🙏👩❤️👨🍲🌮
So much fun! Sarap balik balikan. I can say na this is the best falls Ive ever seen so far ❤️❤️❤️
Looking for adventure...? Tangadan Falls is for you..,Going to the place is already thrilling...,Along the way, we were asked to pay environmental fee of Php 30.00 each.., since we are not yet familiar of the place we agreed with the offer of a tour guide.., when we asked how much, he said Php 150.00 (later did we know its 150.00 each and not as a whole).., since the road going is kinda one way, with going up and down, we preferred to ride "habal-habal" (motorcycleand as advised by the locals from the turning point.., we did not ask at first how much the ride costs, but we were asked to pay Php 300.00 each for going and returning.., from the stop, we walked going down to the falls.., walking returning was the hardest part.., but the tiredness were changed to amusement and excitement looking at the beautiful falls, going for cliff diving and simply enjoying the cold water..,P.s.- bring your own water 😅.. though there are stores along the way..,- rent a life vest..,- have a sturdy footwear..,- dont forget to enjoy..,
Had a really great time when we visited the place. So from the drop point of tricycle, we hired a local kid in the area to direct us to the falls. It was a n hour long hike but it was worth it when we saw what awaited us. They have cottages to choose from the area. It has 2 pools in totals, the larger one I think if Im not mistaken is around 30ft. and the other pool is 10ft. I suggest you bring with you take away foods so it wouldnt be a hassle once your group go swimming/diving. I hope I can visit again.
San Gabriels pride, Tangadan Falls. La Union is mostly known for its surfer-friendly beaches but recently, its also making big waves to daredevils and trek/cliff junkies because of this 50-foot waterfalls nestled in the forests of San Gabriel. The towering trees and cliff walls as you take the trail are beyond captivating. Look at that view! The trek to the falls will take about an hour. Pretty easy! Before reaching the falls, you will pass through different river stops where you can do mini cliff jumps that are 15-20 feet high.Beautiful indeed! The photos dont do justice, to be honest.More of my Tangadan Falls adventure at enjayneer.com.
Travelled 2019 April. What a beautiful idea to go with my family for the first time. Yes, there is a hike as that’s the only way to get to the waterfall. It’s so worth it. There are guides that are extremely helpful to all ages and foreigners. Plan it with friends or family, carry light lunch and water and have some change. Wear a swim suit and not to worry about a towel as you’ll dry by time you get back to main road. Seriously brilliant time.
4 stars cause it was beautiful its not a hike at all its just a simple walk in the forest so for those hesitating to go worrying about how hard it is..u can always tell ur guide to stop and rest..things to avoid..1. avoid unlicense guide. always ask for their tour guide id so you dont get hold at the registration area..3. look for guides with first aid kit, (in our case were not able to choose cause its our first time the tricy driver was the one who pick a guide for us.. and charge us 800php guide fee)soremeber these if you want to save moneyhabal2 are available if you dont want to do a backtrail, but be prepared to tackle the stairset of doom. also dont ride habal habal if your someone that tries to control the motorcycle. the road is quite damngerous but fun if you love exciting amd thrilling ride
You sure would appreciate this place more if you ditch off riding going to this destination. I mean to go to the place you can either take a ride or walk and hike to the falls. But I suggest that hiking would be far more interesting and adventurous. You will see much more of the beauty of San Gabriels mountains and river by hiking anyway.
Going to the jump off point is a roller coster ride. 15minutes of going down the cemented stairs, you will be greeted by the beauty of the falls. The challenge is going back up .... it took us 45minutes😂😂😂
1 hour trecking from San GabrielYou need to get a tour guide to reach the falls...You will pay 30 pesos for environmental fee
One of my most favorite falls!Ive been here for three times now and it amazes me everytime. It is best to visit the place when it rains a bit (not too much rain as it makes the water muddybut just enough rain to make the falls stronger and the falls more majestic looking. To reach the falls, you will ride either a habal habal (motoror jeepney. The ride to the falls itself is an adventure! After that, you will trek down for about 15 mins. It can get too steep sometimes — not for the very fainted heart. There are snacks for sale along the way.The water is indeed cold. There are life jackets for rent. You can also pay to ride the bamboo floats.
For travellers to get to the falls, the means of transportation is jeepney which you can ride above to enjoy the beauty of nature whilst travelling through the side of the mountain. Once you get to the drop off, getting to the falls is easy because there are stairs that leads to the falls. You can then rent life vest once in the falls to enjoy the cold and clean water of the falls :)
This is one of the best treks ever.....With no cars allowed, you can either choose jeepney or motorbike to reach the falls. We prefered jeepney and we were on the roof. It has some crazy slopes and scenic views that goes down in your memory lane. So good. So once you reach the destination. You trek to the waterfalls through rice paddy Fields. And resting places with shops of course.2 view points, one scary one which is closed now and other.Life jackets is available for just 50peso and environment fee is there. Then what? Dive in🤟Fresh, cold, spring water to make your day the best. Dont miss it.
AMAZING view and experience!!! It was my first time hiking/trekking. Before we got to the falls we paid for environmental fee and 500php for our tour guide. The people were friendly and our tour guide was so kind and have an eye for photography. Overall experience was super awesome. The water was so cold but its fun! I really love it! I want to go back soon ❣❣❣
Well, we went through the road less travelled...it was a challenging and difficult trek for city girls like us...but the journey was fun because I am with friends, who laughed out the difficulty, who guided us through rough paths: stony rivers, heavy currents, scary cliffs n stuff....It is actually a manifestation of how close knit the group is, how one cares for the other, how one guides another...it really makes you feel the phrase "I got your back, you got mine"...and it is such a great feeling to be with this kind...
We rode a jeepney going down the hills and had a little hike going to the falls. The water was very fresh and cold. It was very relaxing. The challenging part here is that you also have to walk back which is very tiring due to the slopes and stairs.
After an hour of trekking, it is very rewarding to see the view of the falls. The water is so cold, perfect for summer escapade. If you are not into trekking, there is also an option to rent a jeepney . Local tour guide inclusive as well.
Expect a long trek if you want to enjoy the beautiful nature. I suggest for those who would like to visit Tangadan falls please read articles and I recommend for you to go first to the municipal hall for you to save lots of money.
The fall is nice but the journey there is long and tiring. Pack some sandals, facewipes, bandaid in case you fall cos it can be slippery. But its an overall fun experience.
You have to walk for an hour to get to the falls. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes nd clothes and bring water because it is so hot. You can dip in the water on the falls because it is so refreshing there some snacks along the way but you can bring your own and please throw your trash on the right bin. The locals are keeping the place clean. Wear hats and sun block lotion you can also rent some life vest so you can enjoy dipping in the falls below it.
The falls and the view are figuratively breathtaking although the "trek" is not for the literally faint of heart. We opted to have the shortened journey to the falls with a total of 7 kilometers (3 km conventional road + 4 km 40 to 70 degrees climb/descend+ 200 meters of climbing steep steps and slopes. I am not a physically active person but going to the falls was tolerable but climbing back up is perhaps one of the most challenging things I have ever done in my whole life. The jeepney ride costed us php100/person back and forth. Those who would like to swim are required to use a life vest and if you do not have any, they have available vests for rent at php50.00 each. The water is 15-20 feet deep. The view was just amazing and I wish we could have stayed longer and that there was a chopper waiting so I wouldnt have to climb back up. Kidding aside, its absolutely worth it if you can handle the journey to and from the falls.
"Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it. "- Greg AndersonTangadan Falls is one you shouldnt miss if youre in La Union. San Gabriel may be a lot farther from Manila than San Fernando or San Juan, but it also offers many scenic routes one cannot see in the city.Going to the falls is both thrilling and breath taking. It is a heart pounding experience one should not slip by.Using Google maps, we were guided from San Fernando to San Gabriel City Hall. A guide has helped us through the city until the falls itself for 500. Make sure to get licensed guides from the city hall. You would pass through it along the way. There is a part in the road before you get to the trailhead that is very steep and you may need to park your vehicle there and ride a motorbike to and from the trailhead for easier access. We paid another 50 each person for the motorcycle ride for one way. Parking there was at 50, but you may continue driving, at your own risk, to the trailhead. Posted parking rate there is at 40. From there, you will go on foot and climb down for at most 10 to 15 minutes until you reach the falls. Be very careful because some of the steps are either very high or not paved. When ypu reach the end of the trail, you will need to pay the environmental fee of 30. You may also pay at the city hall when you hire a guide there and just show them your receipt when you reach the site. You may also rent life vests here for 50 per piece. Here, you will see large rocks at the right side and less people. It is a perfect place to just relax from the hike and an appetizer for the main course. The nearer to the waterfalls, the deeper the water will be. So if youre not so sure with your swimming skills, make sure you rent put life vests available in the area. We didnt venture out towards the falls but it would be amazing if we did. Some do cliff diving from the top of the falls, with the supervision of their guides. Also, further along the trail towards the head of the waterfalls, there is a minifalls at the end. You can also enjoy the relaxing waters there and a noticeable few people were there.Overall, it is a nice journey and one for keeps. And also, as with other places, dont forget to keep the environment clean. Trashes go to trash bins, or your pockets if none is available. Let us be responsible in what we do to our mother nature.
Nature at its finest.. first timers need a guide... better to go in the morning.. the hike takes abput less than an hour one way... you can bring your swimming gear if you like.... tiresome for the not so healthy... all is worth it😊😊😊
Super thrilling ride going to the falls, you will definitely enjoy it. The waterfalls is so relaxing. The tour guides are very caring and they will help you. The place is clean, mahihiya kang magkalat. Kaya qag kang magkalat.
Views were spectacular and the water was super clear. I loved every second that I spent here. The only down side was that it was a little too expensive for me because I was traveling solo. The municipality of San Gabriel should make the necessary considerations for solo travelers like me so I wont have to pay for the full price. I didnt know if there was an option to join another group going to the falls that way I can share the guide and transpo costs with them. But the option was never proactively presented to me. I didnt ask either so its partly my fault. I ended up paying 800 for the transpo and the guide. And I didnt get any receipt for it. Anyway, it was worth it I suggest you come here much later during the day, around 2 or 3 p.m. because there wont be such a crowd.
The hike was easy and it was about 3hours to and from the Tangadan falls, it was well worth it and really beautiful!! A must do when you’re in LU!! I’d recommend everyone to try the jump too on the way to the falls along Baroro River!💕
To start, we had a great driver that skillfully drove us to the Trekking part of Tangadan Falls. The Trek leading up to the Falls was just serene & calm rice field then to concrete steps. The falls & rock formations are something to behold. Amazing. God has all this store for us to enjoy.
Ive visited this place twice already. still amazing as ever. it will take 1.5 hour trek before you can reach the falls. The water was cold and there was a spot there for cliff jump. Please get a local tour guide for a safe trek.
Very difficult access by car, a tour guide is absolutely necessary but, when finally reached, the falls are nice and thats very refreshing to take a bath there. (Reserved for alert and healthy people )
It was very affordable to get there. The guides are governed with an association so you are confident that they know the place. The hike was fairly easy but still long. A really good half day trip but could have been longer if you are a bigger group. You also have to bring a lot of water and little food. There are small stores on your hike but expect they are a little over priced. A must see in the La Union Area.
If you like adventures, you should go here! I rode habal-habal (motorcyclefor the first time to get here. They have a very steep and narrow road. Big cars and new drivers will have a hard time going in this place. After riding habal-habal, you have to go treking to reach the falls. And im telling you guys, its all worth it!! The scenery was very nice and majestic!! Hire a local tour guide. He can also be your photographer. I forgot his name though. But hes one good photog!
Very relaxing. The view was amazing. You can rent a jeepney so you will walk for only 15 to 20 mins to get to the falls.
Very scenic and peaceful place. You dont need a guide. Its easy to find from the sari sari store. The road down to the falls is under repair. It was a very exhausting walk to falls and the motorbike is a good option though 100p seemed high. Once the road opens its an easy drive up to falls trail. The trail is very steep but has well made stairs to make the climb and descent easier. Life jackets are required to swim but are included with you entrance fee.
After around 40 minutes jeepney ride and about 30 minutes walk, youll be able to see the beauty of Tangadan Falls. There are cottages to rent, vests (normally at Php50 but we get ours at Php40/vest unlimited timeand bamboo raft (Php25for hire, and also stalls where you can buy some food/drinks. Theres also a cliff diving area. Restrooms are also available free of charge. #DoGoChasingWaterfalls
