One of the best chicken katsus weve ever had!!! The salad dressing was delicious too. 1st timers and well definitely return.

$7.95 for a delicious large curry katsu plate with fresh veggies! Ran by one guy who clearly cares about his food. Highly recommend. Cash only. Only complaint is that I would rather pay twice as much to get a bigger portion of chicken. But the flavor is all there.

Absolutely delicious, simple home cooked food full of flavor and beautifully executed. Main highlights are the tendon (picturedand tsukemono but everything is very very good. Heads up that it’s cash only, no sitting room, and one person works the shop so you might have to wait a little bit. But that’s all more than worth it. 10/10

Best hole in the wall Japanese food Ive had in quite some time even when compared to the mainland. The price is very cheap given the times. Each plate is around $8 which will fill up the average adult. I ordered a tempura lunch plate and the order was freshly fried right in front of me! Where else does that happen for the price?!

连续两天来买外卖，好吃又便宜，良心店家！只开门到两点半，一定要早点来， 晚了就都卖完了。

初入店時のこと。昼過ぎだったので狭い店内には誰もおらず、選べるおかずも少なくなっていた。入店後若い日本人が入店。私が先に注文してレギュラープレート(惣菜2品)を注文した。できたら知らせるとの事で外で待つ。その間に後から入ってきた常連らしきその日本人が注文後すぐに商品を受け取って店を出る。勿論注文時に指定した惣菜二品(うち一品はのこり一切れだったチキン)がプレートの中に入ってる筈が、「おかずの2品どれとどれでしたっけ？」と、忘れる筈もない注文をトボけられる始末。すでに金を払っているので残り物の食べたくもないおかずから渋々一品を選ばされました。ということで、旅行者で一元だと思われた我々の注文を差し置いて常連を贔屓しました。店の日本人も愛想がなく、料理の味自体も平凡。もしわざわざ旅行でヒロに訪れた時に買うようなところではない。近隣に住んでいての初来店だったので まともな店ならたまに寄ってもいいかなと思っていたが、言うまでもなく再訪はない。特に折角のお昼に わざわざ嫌な思いをしたくないならオススメはしません。

I got the chicken katsu curry - the katsu was great, perfectly cooked, nice and crispy. The curry was even better.. some of the best food that I have had in Hilo town.

Get the menchi katsu pork cutlet, out of this world good 👍 dashimaki is excellent, curry is good too. Cant go wrong 👌

LOVE Tamaris!! Ono Japanese food, one of a couple of good Japanese restaurants in Hilo. Take out only. Cash only. My favs are Bulgogi or teri chicken mini plates but other good options including vegetarian dishes. I go there about once a week and have never been disappointed!

Without exaggeration, this is the best to-go food we ever have on Big Island!!! The food is so delicious!!! The price is great!!!Their “Today’s Special” is freshly made!!! We ordered Oyako Don & YakiSoba as well as a large plate with 3 items! All of them are very yummy! Highly recommend getting the lunch here and having a great picnic at the nearby parks!!!Please note: it is closed on Sunday!!!

Great selection of Currys! Very flavorful and delicious thin sliced tender meat. Was surprisingly low cost, probably going to stop by anytime Im in Hilo for lunch on the go.

Excellent Yakisoba

Food is always delicious and made fresh every day by the friendly gentleman who owns it. Prices are very reasonable. Simple atmosphere, no seating, but great for grab and go! Try go early, this little shop is popular and sells out of things fast. The bentos are a great deal, my favorite dish is the Japanese-style omelet. Would post a picture but I eat um too fast!

Great little lunch shop! Basically everything Ive had here has been delicious. Even the hot tray selections are fresh, and never dried out. I hear the Chicken Katsu Curry is awesome, but I can never get away from my favorites to try it... Teri Chicken, Turkey Meatballs, or Veggie Lasagna (only available on Saturdays, i think. Hopefully it isnt sold out). Definitely one of my favorite spots in town!
