Santa Clara, Cuba, Cienfuegos
Urban park honoring the Battle of Santa Clara, with sculptures & exhibits in train car replicas.
Spirituel experience is excellent
The real tractor used at beginning of revolution
Very interesting open air museum. The story behind is very important part for the revolution and I appreciate how the museum and the train is portrayed, made in parc, it is an interesting memorial and story.
The location is special, where the historical event ocurred, and the sculptures give a great context to the wagons. There is textand objects inside telling what happened on that critical day of the Revolution.
A nice museum
Foreigner 1CUC/ citizen 1CUPIt is a small Museo, I can’t understand why it is important for Revolución?
Open-air museum, mainly populated with photos of the time, which unfolds the heroic story of the armored train take-over, during the Santa Clara battle...
The responsible woman to buy the tickets was extremely rude and we werent able to visit the place! I speak Spanish and she didnt know and in from of us the started saying the most terrible things about tourists and looking at people with disgust. It was awful! Extremely racist! Also she kind of forgot the works in a tourist monument. Also, from what people told us, there is nothing to see there. Dont recommend it.
Little museum just outside the centre of town. Just 1 CUC for those that want to enter the carriages.
Very good rendition of an historical story.
Nice homage to the train battle in Santa Clara. Worth a look.
This park is really easy to get to - just walk east down the high street, and keep going on along the more normal looking street, and across the bridge - it is hard to miss, and has a tourist shop opposite. It is also worth making a trip to the statue of Che that is further along the same road (another 5 minute walk)
Beautiful and quiet historic place
Not much to see, but a significant place.
Carriages and art installations representing the Santa Clara train derailment.
Just pictures. The train is visible from outside.
looks like a destroyed train when a raid occurs.
Nice set-up, but nothing special, unless you are Che and revolution fan.
Park celebrating Che overcoming overwhelming odds to stop a government armoured train with a bulldozer and a handful of men. Unfortunately the armoured carriages were locked when we visited because of a holiday.
A part of history
Historical place. This important revolution action happen there. A convoy of munitions and arms was send to Batista. This secret convoy was known by Che Guevara and compagnero. Just before getting in the town, convoy was attact, but with no effect, was well protected.Using a Bulldozer, the rebel finally derail the train at this place. Next day, Batista flew Cuba.
Historica place of interest
Interesting museum. Several train wagons positined after the crash. In every wagon information of the attack and aditional information of Che Guevara. Also some armours used then are to be seen. At the other side of the road is a souvenir shop. The hole place is covered with a little nationalistic sauce. But for a visit of one hour, its certainly worth it.
Amazing place explains the history of che with old train containers
Please be witness the history. Dramatically impressive.
Not a lot to see but its a great monument to a very important event in Cuba history.
Its a symbolic place, with car wagons in a small garden. Historical landmark, but not very interesting
A snapshot of history captured with the very pieces of the revolution that played a part in it! Dont be fooled by the chilled atmosphere around the monument, life changing events took place right here!
Very nice park
Beautiful place. The museum does not worth it, just the view.
Nice place created in memory of the events of 29 December 1958 (Battle of Santa Clara), if youre into Cuban history this is an interesting place to experince.
Something for Che Guevara Fans.
Historical place but the museum has not that much content actually
Very suggestive place. It seems like the time has stopped when Che Guevara and his army attacked the "Tren Blindado" during the Cuban Revolution
Impressive display of history and equipment used in the battle of Santa Clara. The day that our Road Scholar tour was there they were power washing the train cars.
A museum about Che Guevara and how the how the revolution happened /started in Santa Clara. For the visit you will need only 10 - 15 min and there is also a small entrance fee.
An open and local history museum linked to the derail of a train perpetrated by Ches guerrillas.
Very informative place if you want to know about Che Guevara and his war tactics.
This is an important historical site but it really should not have an admission charge. It can be experienced in 5 minutes. I was glad to see it but annoyed to have to pay.
Yeah, this is impressive! History told in an interesting way
Interesting , mostly for the story behind it, nothing too special
Not much to see here but there is a lot of history. Its a nice place to stop for photos. Only takes a few minutes to see ut all.
This place has a lot of neat history, but there isnt a lot to see. I do enjoy it though.
This place is like an open museum. You can enter the old wagons and see objects used during the revolution. However, there arent many things to see here.
Not much to see, but they have English translations of events, which is a big plus. Worth popping past on your way to somewhere more fun ;)
Memorable place in Cuba history
Very interesting. shame half of the "museum" was closed..
Santa Clara is also dubbed as city of Che because Che led the guerrillas to win a critical battle here in 1958. With limited resources, Che asked the people to use a bulldozer to derail the track in order to stop a armoured trains with lots of soldiers from Havana. They finally succeeded in taking all weapons and all solders surrendered. This battle indirectly speeded up the end of Batista Regime soon, which was overthrow in 1959 by Castro. Today at the spot where the train was derailed to stop, a museum in real scenario set-up is built here to show the events with the original carriages.
Interesting exhibit on the fall of Santa Clara.
This is the location of the famous battle between the revolutionaries and Batistas soldiers going to Havana in an armored train. On location you will find the bulldozer used to derail the armored train and some carriages which you can get into.Inside the two carriages you can see some pictures and explanation of what happened on the spot and what was the result (1st carriageand also see some weapons and bunk-beds (2nd carriage). There is also a anti-aircraft gun on display. The rest of the carriages is now used to display some weird modern art that has nothing in common with the rest of the museum. All texts are in Spanish and shorter version in English. This park is now a paid museum where you must pay 2 CUC per person and 1 CUC for camera (2013).There are no facilities or guides available.
