Tajine Elvira - Moroccan restaurant in Granada, Spain
Such an amazing experience with wonderful, authentic Moroccan food. We had the nicest waiter named Muhammad. Pretty big portions for a decent price. Recommend this for tourists and locals!
DONT GO HERE. The food was ok, nothing amazing, nothing horrible. The problem was something else. We got there and sat down--we were the only customers in the restaurant. We ordered (they did not, for some reason, serve meat skewers at that time, so we had to order something else more expensive). We ate our food and then asked for the check. I told him I was paying by credit card. He said no. He said their card machine was broken. I said I dont carry cash. He said then we have a problem. I said yes we obviously do.Clearly he knew his card machine was broken when we walked in the door BUT NEGLECTED TO TELL US THIS. Nor did he tell us at any point when we were there eating our food. How can you run a restaurant and not accept a credit card, especially in a high tourist area?! He insisted I go to a bank machine and withdraw money. Funny thing is, I normally dont carry a card that I can use in the ATM, but this day I had one. Luckily for him we are honest people and came back with the cash payment. ( To add insult to injury, later when we got home we discovered that he did not even put all of our leftover food in the take-home box for us). :(We just moved to a Granada and I love Moroccan food, but I WILL NOT EVER BE BACK TO THE RESTAURANT, nor will I recommend them to anyone. They have lost a potential lifetime customer.
Ive been worsted experience here . First time is last time .
This is the worst restaurant you could ever go to! They were discriminating, rude and didn’t want to serve my friend. They screamed at customers and threatened them!!! Don’t go there or support them in any way
Dont. You dont get any food, but are aggressively threatened. After waiting 1h, we were told that there were probably no more vegetables. We are vegetarians. After that we were held up for two hours and then we had to leave the restaurant without getting our food (although we were told that we would get our food soon). When we asked the cook about it, we were threatened by him.
Again, as someone said before in these comments the chicken couscous with raisins was amazing, and the lamb tajin was superb. The treat was good, definitely worth a visit!
Really delicious lemonade with mint. Falafel and hummus was fabulous. Partners chicken tagine was apparently amazing. My vegetable one took a while to arrive but was really delicious. Menu had plenty for vegetarians. Restaurant was a bit cold inside but was OK. Great find as we needed more than cheese and bread which is what I had been living off as vegetarian options elsewhere for far too long!
The best Moroccan meal I’ve ever tasted.
Dont go. Daily menu, from outside is a sign with starter, main course and desert. Humus averidge, served with bread, wich was than marked for 1€ appart, meatbolls averidge and no desert in the end :/
Excellent food and very traditional. The hummus was amazing and by far my favourite. Huge portions though so we ended up with way too much food!
Good food, good tea. Solid recommendation. I loved the Indian milk tea the most, its my favourite!
After a long day of travel I found this place, they offer take a way. Nice Maroccan food, lamb was amazing!
Tasty food, fast service! We went here after a whole day at the Alhambra and we were famished. The lamb tajine with honey was so good! Lemonade is really refreshing and even the lamb skewers were well seasoned and tender.
The best Moroccan food we tried so far in different countries.. Delicious with authentic flavors.. The chicken couscous with caramelized onions and raisins is 10/10 and a must to try! The lamb tajin was great as well.. Finally, the staff were super friendly and helpful
Really good Marrocon food (the berenjera was amazing and so was the chicken), small but cosy resto, nice service from the waiter. Our kids loved the lemon/mint juice)!
Amazing food. I ordered the day Menu. I had the chicken tajin with hummus. It was delicious. The desserts was very tasty!
Food was amazing, really tender and tasty. Good service, fast and cheap for what you get! Will return
Here is what I have to say:- Food is Halal- Each dish was tasty and authentic. I instantly knew that it was not just some quickly made dishes- service especially Tanveer who served us was excellent. He attended to all requests and made us comfortable although it was a hot day- prices quite reasonable- lemonade "WOW"Very very good experience
I rarely feel the need to review a place, but the experience was so bad that I feel the need to warn my fellow man. This place isnt terrible, but neither is it worth the money theyre asking for. The food isnt good, the vegetarian options are terrible, and they added things like bread and tea to our order without consulting us about it not informing us of the (over)price. One of the members of our group was an Egyptian guy who got insulted by how bad the Tajin was. I had the vegetarian couscous and it was a sad excuse for a dish. The dessert was a sugary mess.Overall, it was just a let down. Once again, the food is edible, but I wouldnt go much further than that, and its overpriced for what you get
The Hummus was not good, too liquide without olive oil, not teasty at all. The falafel was well presented but not fresh unfortunately, sec and old texture as like it was from the day before. The restaurant is beautiful but the service was not the best, even if they are kind personally.
Humus was decent (I have my standardsbut the couscous was very good.
Amazing Food with Beautiful decor and outstanding service..This was our last meal in Granada ...
I am surprised to see some negative reviews!! This restaurant is a very nice place, with very good food. It is a home cook, not like other places.. so it’s very clean and cosy. The staff are very helpful and caring.. I totally recommend it.The only note here is that they do not accept card, you need to pay in cash.
Very friendly Moroccan family run place. The pastilla and tagine were excellent
On the positive side, the food was good and came out quite quickly. I had the lamb tagine , harira soup and fresh lemonade. The negatives : there is an English menu, but the waiter only speaks Spanish and French :. The tables were not cleaned until someone new sat down. Not sure about general cleanliness, either. The place was a bit of a mess.
Great food and friendly service. The hummus was delicious and the lamb tajin was wonderful. I cant wait to go back next time we visit Granada.
Tried Tajine ..mutton, chicken and vegetarian. And chicken rice. All of them were excellent. Just excellent flavors and taste. Smallish place, but worth the walk from where we were.
The Moroccan food was good and came out quickly. Had the lamb tagine and harira soup with fresh lemonade. Really enjoyed the food, and the server was friendly. Theres an English menu but the server doesnt really speak it. But this place does not have its front end together. Tables were mostly not bussed, including the one I sat at, until someone new sat down. Place was a bit of a mess.
During our trip to granada we ate twice at this place the chicken was insanely soft it just melted in you mouth, super delicious. The service was very very nice and welcoming and the food was served quickly. The price was super fair for the amount of food you got!
Very tasty homemade Moroccan food run by a sweet husband and wife from Morocco. Modest interior, excellent home-cooked food. Dont expect anything fancy or fancy service, but a good quality meal. We had hummus (delicious), Pastile with Chicken (delicious and savory sweet), chicken with vegetables and couscous (good but not totally overwhelming), and lamb with honeyed onions (tasty and sweet/tangy). Also lemonade (which was made with mintwas very good. Comes with hot bread.
This place was fantastic! We ordered the cous cous with lamb and honey onions and it was phenomenal. The Pakistani tea was quite nice as well. The location we went to was not this one posted on Google maps.
Great food, very nice waiter, cheap but delicious menu del día for 8.50 euros. Very full after. HIGHLY recommend getting the Pakistani Milk Tea in addition - it was amazing!
You have to try it! For some reviewers it seems a bit hit and miss, but for us was a big hit. Lemonade especially, but sweet dessert treats were equally good. The service was spot on: not too attentive and chatty, just honest and delightful. We had hummus, soup and falafels, followed by tagines and cous cous. All was good, cant fault it. Card machine wasnt working, thats true, but you have to factor that in when visiting similar areas and carry around some cash. Card payment fees in Spain seem outrageous for small businesses so I cant blame them for not caring and also the whole meal cost us 8.50 EUR per person, which fully makes up for a bit of inconvenience.
Fantastic spot - highly recommend. Fresh food, good quality, service exceeded my expectations. One of the best Moroccan food spots we’ve found on this trip (and we look specially for trip advisor / highly rated places. I’m honestly surprised this place has some bad recommendations. The tour center recommended this restaurant and it was open late so we gave it a try. The waiter was very friendly and calm, different from other waiters in Spain who have been abrupt and short, or overly pushy in ordering. We had mint tea with Lamb skewers with salad and chips and then cous cous with chicken and veggies. It tasted more authentic than other restaurants we’ve tried and the meat in both dishes were cooked quite well. Tender and flavorful. The mint tea was great - natural and brewed with another herb mix. Not as sugary or strangely blended like some other places in Granada. Cash only.
Very tasty and nice waiter. But he should write down the order and wash the cutlery properly before giving it to the clients. But really tasty food.
Horrible, tourist trap. Neither is the food good nor is the hospitality. The servers are extremely rude. When we asked what a specific dish was, the server did not bother explaining and moreover just walked away.
This was probably one of the worst foods I’ve had. The place is not clean. We ordered falafel which was not even well cooked. The house salad was old and watery. The chicken skewers were eh. Overall it was a bad experience and we left feeling so unsatisfied. We went there because of a few blogger recommendations but were so disappointed.
Good food, the service not so great. Our server completely forgot we were there. They do not accept credit cards which can be a nuisance.
Liked some dishes and not some. A bit mixed. Chicken on skewers very dry. Waiter said credit card machine not working when we tried to pay luckily we had cash.
Poor value. I ordered the chicken tagine with vegetables. The chicken was a small joint, on the bone, with three slices of potato and three of carrot. They were the vegetables. My companion had her chicken with chips, which were ample. The bill was €18. Stick to a menu del dia elsewhere for about 10€ pp. You wont go wrong. Or, maybe try this place at lunchtime when there is an 8.50€ menu available. Whilst we were there, three people came in, read the menu and left. Its too expensive for what it is. Of course there is no alcoholic drink available. So much for catering for customers and not Mohammed or who/whatever.
The worst restaurant experience Ive ever had! I ordered a chicken tagine and it came out within ten minutes. When I cut through it and put a piece in my mouth, the chicken was absolutely COLD! I assume they just microwaved it and I completely lost my appetite. We asked to get the dish taken away after that one bite, but when the check came, the waiter had the nerve to charge us more than half the price. We were absolutely shocked and demanded not to pay for it. He ended up giving in but was so rude. The worst kind of service possible!!
The food was really nice and decent price. Was disappointed they charged for bread with the hummus. Its only 1 euro, but it should be disclosed. Service was a bit of a mess and they dont take card. Its a shame because the tajine was nice and a great cut of chicken, like a roast chicken in Moroccan spices. Improve the experience and it would be 5 stars...
Love! Love! Love! Just wish wed discovered this place earlier rather than the last day of our holiday😭. We ordered the chicken and olive tagine along with the chicken skewers and rice. Everything was full of flavour just what our taste buds needed. The service was good and friendly. There was a little wait for the food to arrive, But for me thats a good thing shows the food is fresh and being prepared properly. If your in Granada definitely try to visit this place to try their tagines.
Great eggplant, wonderful spinach and the tajin lamb was terrific. Top service too. Try local teas- waiter picked them and they were a neat variation.
AVOID! The food is okay (at bestbut the staff tried to rip us off and then literally tried to steal from us. The guy added an extra €1.50 to our meals and seemed annoyed when we pointed this out to him. When we paid with cash, as they dont take credit card (or they didnt take our credit card), the guy withheld €5 of our change in the hope that we wouldnt notice. We did notice and he immediately handed over the €5. This is lace is seriously shady, overpriced and pretty unpleasant overall.
Delicious simple Moroccan food with Shishas and tea for after dinner.
Delicious, charming and very attentive and accomodating staff. We came here craving Moroccan food and we got excellent one. The eggplant salad (berenjenaswas exquisite, nice spices and a smokey taste. We also had lamb tagine with vegetables and couscous with vegetables. These dishes were complementary and full of flavor. We also ordered the lemonade. This has been one of the most refreshing lemonades I have ever had (lemon+ mint, I think a bit of line as well). They can adjust the amount of sugar based on your taste. I recommend it with very little sugar, I appreciated its flavor and freshness better. We ended with a lemon & mint Hookah which was very plesant. The staff was very nice to me and my husband, I wish we had such a delicious Moroccan restaurant in NYC (and I have been to most). We dined on a Saturday and it was fairly empty (apparently Friday and Saturday people go to the beach). Also, we were told that they are open until 3am. Delicious place that you wont regret trying!
Visa machine was broken despite owner saying it is available...clearly lied to us. Asked me to withdraw cash which would have cost me about 10$. He did accept US cash in lieu of euros though - luckily I had exact change.Food was good, but not great. The drinks were awful.
The food was great. However, the service was absolutely horrible. Our waiter was rude, ignored us, and was so terrible to another table that they got up and left. Also, dont order the hummus because theyll charge you for bread to eat with it.
This is one of those places that will through you back into the history of Granada. The ambience is very comfortable and after dinner one can sip on Moroccan tea for a couple hours, while enjoying the Arabic music playing in the background. The Tajine and Harrira Soup tasted very authentic and were a good price.
