Absolutely pristine.Great place to start your hike either towards Kamikochi or Yakedake. Taisho pond has a clear view of Yakedake, currently the only active volcano in the region. Looks like a scene out of Red Dead Redemption

A great pond to visit and just take in the nature. It is about an hour walk away from Kappa bridge but the walk here is easy and will make you appreciate the view even more.

Personally wouldnt bother visiting this again. The scenery around the area is of course beautiful, but the pond is plain and doesnt really add anything. Plus, during the time of my visit, it was in the process of being dredged by a large and noisey boat machine thing.The nearby Myojin and Tashiro ponds are much nicer IMVHO.

We were little bit late for autumn.. but it’s was so good weather when we arrive there.

Preferably stay overnight at Kamikochi to catch Taisho-ike before the sun rises for the serene, smoked fill and beautiful reflections. The walk from Kappa bridge area to Taisho-ike is very scenic too. Konashidaira camping huts are a budget accommodation option, though try not to bring wheeled luggage as you need to go through a very long pebbled road. We had one of the best buffet breakfast ever at Hotel Shirakaba-So, memory of that breakfast made the RM2200 per night price tag worth it.

I dont have the best words to describe the place and the feeling it can give you. Its really just an awesome place.

A stunning lake view, a great start point to the miraculous trip to kamigochi. It does worth to spend few day here to feel how amazing our nature is.

Beautiful scenic place with clear water

I advise you to drop off the bus on this stop, and then walk along the river until Miyojin pond (6kmand then come back to kappa Bridge where you take the bus to come back. Total 9km, 3h going slow and stopping to take pictures.

God visited and blessed this beautiful place with serenity.

Amazing hike in the Japanese alps.Hiking in the area was the best hiking experience we had in Japan. The river-mountain vies was amazing and 5 hours of walking felt like 15 minutes of strolling at paradise.Get of the bus at this point if you plan to travel in Kamikōchi and walk all the way up to Myojin bridge before heading back to the bus terminal from the other side of the river to get the best round trip :)

On the southern point of the park. A good place to start your hike up north. The water is crystal clear, cold and excellent for drinking.

To begin Kamikochi, this is beautiful, however there will be some more places to see even better!

Beautiful pond created following a volcanic eruption. Gorgeous green water against stunning mountain views and lush forest. The walking trails in the surrounding areas are very easy to handle. Lots of places to stop and rest along the way or eat lunch.

Place was special with a lot of mountains to go around the pond. We went to Mt. Yake and it took us like 5 hour up and down, which I think is above average, so I recommend taking more time to climb that hill.

Great place to visit anytime of year. Especially a foggy morning view is excellent but you have to come early so youd better take a taxi instead of bus. There is a toilet near here. Dont swim please.

Before you go to Kamikochi, start your hiking from this place. It is a wonderful natural beautiful small pond and every season you can enjoy the scenery. Walk along the Asuza river towards Kamikochi passing Tashiro pond.

Very beautiful place to see the stunning views of Japan alps. The water in this pond is so clear that you can see the bottom of the pond. In a good weather day, you can see the mountains reflected on the pond. If you want to visit this place and want to make a short walking to Kappa bridge (3 km), getting off the bus at Taisho-ike bus stop.

Very beautiful place withe amazing view on the mountains around.The round trip to Taissho pond from Kappabashi bridge takes about 2.5-3 hours including stops for pictures and to enjoy the view. There are restrooms along the way every 10-15 minutes.If you are not to loud there are good chances you will see monkeys.The lake is beautiful and peaceful and there is option to rent a boat.

Water is so clearly and we saw the monkey of nature.

The water is so clear that you can see the bottom of lake. Moreover, if you have time, you must row a boat in the lake. The experience of rowing a boat here will be memorable.

Super nice place with a great view of the vulkano and really clear water. I dont know if its allowed but I would love to take a swim there. Btw when I was there I dont and didnt see anyone swimming there.

First pond when you arrive, great mountain view, transparent turquoise water is really nice, love this place.
