Taberna Góngora - Tavern in Cordoba, Spain
My partner and I were led here by a popular food blogger and I’m so glad we got to try this place. Highly recommend, it’s incredibly popular with locals so if you want to make sure you eat here make a booking or get here earlier than the Spanish like eat otherwise you will miss out! This is a late post, we dined here for lunch 2nd September
Good food at reasonable price.
Great!!!!
Amazing food and nice atmosphere. I was actually really happy that they survived the pandemic. The food was as tasty as I did remember it!! Authentic and fresh cordobese food to really good prices. One of my favorite restaurants in Cordoba!
Nice typical placeEnjoyed the salmorejo con bacalao ahimado. Albondigas pretty disappointingRabo the toro superSkip the fried merenjenas
The place is a typical Spanish tavern, which has a lot of charm, and it seems full of locals. The food was good but honestly nothing special. Prices are great though and quantity was plenty.
Fun local place that serves all the traditional Andalusian specialties like ox tail, tomato soup, aubergines with honey…all very tasty and the service was very friendly and funGreat value as well!
One of the nicest restaurant we ate in in andalusia. Tasty food, hearty dishes, tasty!
The restaurant is cosy and very traditional and popular among the locals, which took me some time to get a table there, I suggest that you book a table in advance. The staff is friendly but the service is a bit slow (maybe on that day they had less people working), this was a delay getting a table, there were always empty tables waiting to be cleaned for the next customer, but the staff was not enough to do all the work. The food itself is nice and tasty, generous portions, prices align with the other local restaurants. The place deserve a visit, but dont expect to be very different from other local restaurants, because Cordoba has nice restaurants
Fantastic place, the prices are really good and the food is super special, really suggested.
As part of the Cordoba experience, you should come to this place and have some typical cordoba food and drink. Best to try and book a table in advance as you will need to wait otherwise (min 25min for a free table with no booking). We had Fino (a typical cordoba wine), Salmorejo (a gaspaco type soup with jamon and cheese served coldand Flamequinn (rolled up beed thats breaded and friend). This place wont be vegan friendly as they have a lot animals hanging from the walls etc but it is definitely a place you have to try when coming to Cordoba. The food, service and prices are very good so highly recommend if you are in Cordoba to come here to try the typical good.
We came to this place because of an YouTube episode by James Blick. The first we came it was about to close but the owner still served us a pair of Cañitas (that is a small beer). We asked for the bill and he said ‘on the house’. Very nice of him.Though we had no plans to return to the area the place had a very nice feel to it and decided to come back.We came back right at the moment the doors opened and grabbed a table. Minutes later there was a line. The one dish I wanted to try was the Flamenquín. I will let you research what it is but you should try it. We also had the Ox tail and some goat with Garlic. All dishes were very good. This is the type of place that makes the visit to a city like Cordova with the desire to come back. Great food, great service.
Awesome food, we had to wait for a table, but it was well worth it👏
Super local restaurant with authentic food and friendly staff. We love the lamb skewers and grilled squid! language is only Spanish (use google and body language :)
More of a "locals" restaurant than for tourists, meaning its where you probably should go! Excellent authentic dishes and great service.
This is the only place we visited twice over two weeks in Andalucía. The food is excellent value for money, theres loads of options and the portions are huge for the price. Service is very speedy once youre sat but consider turning up early if you dont want to wait to be given a table.
Authentic and very good. Menu only in Spanish and very little English is spoken. Service and dishes are great. Not expensive, we spent less than 20 euros per person with wine and tips. They do not seem to take reservations. We came at 8 pm Saturday night at rainy end of October and were the second occupied table. It was full, with a line 15minutes later
Honestly, the best place in Cordoba. Amazing service (which is rare here), amazing food (go for the seafood), no need to wait like in many other places (almost all places need reservations on weekends; highly annoying). Bonus: menu with English translation !!!!!!
An outstanding place. Great food, local wines and atmospheric decor. The price/quality ratio is excellent. I heartily recommend!
We ate here at least 3 times in 3 days spent in Cordoba. Super delicious and authentic cooking. You can tell locals love this place. Gets filled very quickly...but we had an advantage - we are non-spaniards and eating at 8pm - or when they open up for dinner, is quite normal. 30 mins later you have to wait in line. Waiters were also nice to us crazy tourists who order too much food.
The food is great, but the service, although it is fast, it is not the friendliest. It can get super busy in here, make sure to make reservations
The service and the tapas were great.
Amazing!! We sat at the bar, full of locals. We asked for a local drink and he gave us a free Fino style drink. Service was incredible and tbh I haven’t said that much in Spain. Waiter suggested dishes and made us try the local olive oil with bread. Lots of food and drink and the bill was still less than 20 Euros. A+
We are here because of the recomendationes, verry good and tasty foodz we had some traditional foodz, i lived them al! Definatly the sardines... Loved the eggplant the most tbh
Everything was delicious. But especially the Venado.
Restaurant opens at 8 pm. We waited outside at 745pm. Finally opened its doors at 815 pm. We were the second tables. Within 15 minutes the whole restaurant was packed with locals. We ordered grilled baby octopus, bosquerones with limon, drilled asparagus, grilled ibera pork, and potatoes pistones. All delicious! So go there early, even before they are open at 8, otherwise it would be a long wait
A very authentic place. It looks like there are a lot of local regulars here. Interesting decoration with hunting trophies and old football pictures. The Cordoban classics like Salmorejo and Flamenquin are perfect here. Definitely recommended.
Local tapas place off the beaten path. We had the Flamenquín, which was HUGE. Definitely split between two people. It was a lot, however delicious.
A decent inn with many local visitors and reasonable pricing.
Food was good, well priced and really big portion sizes. There was a wait for a table but we were able to get a seat at the bar and have a glass of wine. Interesting decor!
Excellent service
Excellent taberna where you can eat with the locals. Authentic Spanish food - delicious! Amazing value for money!
Kind personnel, great dishes. A little bit hidden but search for it, its worth it.
This was by far our favorite place that we ate in Córdoba. We came back twice. All the food is delicious, there is a wide variety of unique meat and veggie options. Amazing prices
Very good Spanish food at great prices. The locals start packing the place out by 8.30.
Super delicious
Nice dishes and wines. Good service.
Proper tapas place full of locals. Superb feed as long as you dont mind a wild boer staring at you from the wall.
Worth the 15-minute wait. Grab a glass of wine at the bar and peruse the menu in the meantime. Probably not the best place for vegetarians, but friendly service, good home-style food, and generous pours.
Typical Cordovan taberna with traditional local food. High quality and excellent food and the price is ok
Came here on recommendation, the food and service excellent, slightly off the tourist route but worth a detour. We will be back. Gracias
One of the last authentic local food in Cordoba. Always with my guides there
Very good Spanish food selection and great service.
Excellent quality/price ratio
Super foodsSuper personsJust go there to enjoy tasty cordovan foods ;)
This was recommended by a Spanish friend from Madrid. The food here is very local and traditional. Must try: the fried aubergines (berenjenas), the cold tomato dip (salmorejoand to-die-for stewed oxtail (rabos). Prices are very reasonable at €4~6 for half portions which is frankly, plenty to fill your stomach.
Amazing place outside of the usual touristic drag. The rabo de toro (bull tailis AMAZING! People talk about the wild boar (jabali), which wasnt bad but get the bull tail instead or both like we did!
Very "traditional" place to eat in Cordoba. The restaurant is full of pictures of local hunters, hounds drawings and hunting tropheys (boar/deer heads). There are tools, also related to hunting, attached to the restaurant walls. The walls bases are covered with tiles decorated in arabic/andalus style... which create a fancy contrast with the images mentioned above. The food, especially the meat, is very tasty and well made: plates are, however, kind of "hardcore", since meat is served with french fries only, and no vegetables at all. Prices are ok for the service you get. At the end of your lunch/dinner you get a little magnum ice cream... In the end, the whole experience feels a little bit "out of date". The restaurant is already full of locals, and the feeling you get is that they dont really need you as a customer. The staff, finally, is kind of aseptic.
Good food, little place, you will come early if you want a place. Awesome quantity for little budget, just take half ration ! The door can be closed even when it is open, just push the door.
Excellent traditional dishes. Try the suckling pig and lamb stew.
