Taberna Clandestina Cascais - Tapas bar in Cascais, Portugal
WOW! I had the octopus and the pork cheek, and it was unbelievably tasty! Incredible food! It’s beautiful at night with the lights. The vibe is fantastic, the staff are so friendly, there was even a guy doing fire poi. 10/10.
There wasnt any other place like this in the whole neighborhood: a true hidden gem that got us almost stuffed with the most delicious food weve tried in Portugal. We were a company of five very picky people, we shared everything and compared impressions. From grilled Octopus (magnificentto desserts, we had half a menu to take a bite from: various seafood, meat and, again, desserts... Dont hesitate to try them all!
Found this place while strolling around in Cascais with my dad. Ate one of the best octopus i’ve ever tried. Going back there for sure to try the whole menu! The staff was also very welcoming and offered us a very nice portwine in the end. Perfect overall experience:)
Delicious food (we shared tapas), good atmosphere, friendly staff! We made a reservation and had a nice place inside . Recommend 🤗
Nice place, very friendly, best food. I love the octopus, never had a better one.
Amazing flavors, quality and speed. I would make a day trip from Lisbon, just to experience this spot.
Amazing, truly a wonderful restaurant. Delicious food, some simple like the bruschetta but just done perfectly, some more complicated like black pork with grain or raviolis etc but done with finesse. If I was being really picky, one or two dishes may be a little too salty but not so much as to spoil them. Great cocktails, mocktails for kids, friendly happy and super efficient service too. Booking strongly advised.
Loved this place! Went twice during our Cascais visit. Excellent ambiance and service and food. Some unique cocktails as well. The mushroom pasta and the pesto pasta were simple, fresh and delicious
Fantastic food and menu. Beautiful setting. All the buzz of back street Cascais. Celebrating local cuisine with all the extras to keep everyone happy. Drinks menu was expansive and fun. Staff were happy and service was faultless. CHILD FRIENDLY +++ !
Lovely lunch place on a corner in the old part of town . I had a delicious bruschetta with cod and shared a salad . Friendly staff and nice vibe . Would recommend !
Awesome food, awesome service, great drinks, wonderful experience. We came to Taberna Clandestina Cascais/Cantina Clandestina for dinner and had the best experience. At the time we arrived all tables were full but we were given the option to be written down on a wait list and could have a drink while waiting. The staff was already super friendly with this and not stressed or unfriendly at the prospect of such a hectic situation. It only got better from here. We were seated quite quickly and didn‘t have to wait long at all and even when we couldn‘t decide what to order because of all the great options the waiters remained good spirited and encouraging.Once we decided on something the food was served quickly and the waiters were very attentive in regards to us wanting to order more (food and drinks).Everything was absolutely delicious; we ordered a second portion of the cheese croquettes because we liked them so much.Even though there were new people coming the whole time also waiting for a table we were not rushed at all or given the feeling that we should hurry up so another person could be seated.During our whole stay every person working there seemed so happy and upbeat and friendly it gave such a lovely atmosphere to the whole place making us feel very welcome. The staff was finding time to chat with the customers and passers-by while maintaining excellent and efficient service, not being hectic or unfriendly once.We left feeling elated at having spent such a wonderful time there and would recommend it to everybody!
Just delicious, whatever we had to eat and drink! Great, quick and very friendly service. Crowded but cozy inside, also lots of seats outside. Our absolute recommendation for Cascais!
We had a great night at Taberna Clandestina in Cascais. The food was delicious (definitely try the Clandestino cocktail and Clandestina bruschettaand the staff was very hard working and super friendly. Special thanks to Augustin for the super service. Would definately recommend! We will be coming back :-)
Food was good. Service was good. Well located. Friendly place.
This was a fantastic experience, through and through. Every dish was absolutely delicious, from the starter through the dessert. Tiramisu is one of the best in Portugal. The entire staff is welcoming, friendly, attentive and helpful. The cocktails are awesome, too. We will definitely return here the next time we are in Cascais.
The street in which this place is located is calm during the day and animated at night. It has been nicely decorated and you really feel the sea vibes in here. The staff is quite friendly and they are willing to help you out. Everything we tried was great and prices are not high. They also have some nice wines and cocktails !
Food is 4 out of 5 star. Its good but nothing special. I would not go back. Service is 2 out of 5 star. I waited 21 minutes before I got water, sitting outside on a warm day. The waitress had to come back to ask for my order 30 minutes later. After thsy everything went faster. The place was not busy at all!! Unfriendly atmosphere, do not recommend. It has so many reviews and thats why I tried it but its just a normal place.
Fantastic food and service away from the tourist traps . Our waitress was very charming and very careful regarding allergies which was much appreciated. In fact all the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We enjoyed it so much we went back again during our week . Very reasonably priced for excellent quality food. A real highlight so be sure to book as it is very popular.
Can’t book later than 6:30. After that add your name to the list and wait (with a drink in hand, natch). We had a fabulous seafood platter and bruschetta, followed by roast octopus, pigs cheek and pesto pasta. Queues still at 9pm and beyond tells its own story. Fabulous place. Go.
To be very honest, I was starting to think, does Portugal have good food? Short answer, yes. And it is all right here. Staff amazing, wine is great and the food is to die for. Dont be concerned for the long line, does not take long and is well worth the wait. I need an extra star!
Very unfriendly staff. We arrived around 17:00 when there are not so many people inside. We asked one of the staff outside if we can have a table, she directly said the kitchen is close while there are obviously people outside eating.
Amazing food, friendly and attentive service, nice atmosphere, and good prices!
Amazing dinner and cocktails. Lovely atmosphere on the street. Very friendly staff. 10/10 would recommend.
One of the best if not the best dining experience in Portugal. By far the best restaurant in Cascais for super friendly service, ambiance, vibe and of course the amazing food! The charcuterie board is to die for!
A brilliant lunch; with great staff, some very delicious food in a lovely setting and atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend.Update: we visited on another two occasions, each different but as brilliant as the first. Staff are amazing!
Fantastic tapas and unbelievably good octopus. Great gin sour. Book a table!
Relaxed ambiance, attentive staff and awesome tapas. Best meal we had in Cascais by far. Highly recommend for cocktails and quick (or longbite after the beach.
Very good service, spiting the busy summer evening. Food was very tasty, properly cooked and tastes well balanced. If you fancy the hip atmosphere, it is a really good place for dinner. Highly recommend!
Atmospheric, with very kind staff, good variety of meals, and an overall vibe that makes you just want to come back again. Also, seems like its one of the best places for a lunch in Cascais!
The place was located on a small street with many restaurants. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. I began with a mojito which was very tasty and refreshing in the summer heat. The meat and cheese board was also very good. Everything was extremely flavorful and the plate was cleared. I then had the Prego which was absolutely delicious. The meat was cooked to my asking and the focaccia was soft complimented perfectly by the mustard inside. I also loved the potato fritters that came with the meal and found it was quite a unique way to prepare them. Finally, I had the brownie and lime ice cream for dessert. The brownie had raspberries insides and it was the perfect combination. The lunch ended with a complimentary Limoncello shot. The staff was very warm and the setting was cutely decorated. One of the best meals we have had during our trip to Portugal and recommend if you travel up to Cascais!
Unbelievably delicious!!! The octopus was melt in your mouth and the bruschetta was creamy and delicious. 10/10
Excellent dining experience. Such a buzz about this place and the general area. The tapas were excellent. Also great mojitos and service.
One of the best experiences I’ve had in Portugal (and I’ve been many places). Service is super friendly and quick, great atmosphere and above all delicious food. Been here 3 times during my last visit. HIGHLY recommend ❤️
Service and food were fantastic. The location is cute and we really enjoyed our time at the Taberna. Good choice for a relaxed drink and dinner. Prices are reasonable and the presentation of the food is extra nice. We hope to come back one day.Reservation recommended - it’s a popular spot.
This restaurant is outstandingly good! We’ve had the fried sea plate as a starter, which was really good! But those noodles were beyond any expectations. 6 stars out of 5!!
Everything was so good! Such a gem. We enjoyed the crispy seafood, potato skins, and fish appetizer board as starters. Loved the truffle ravioli and porchetta as mains.
Honestly the best meal we had in Portugal - super busy restaurant with a great atmosphere. The staff were so lovely, we didn’t have a reservation but they served us drinks while we waited for a table and it was 100% worth it. Everything we ordered was delicious, and even though they were very full the service was fast and very friendly. We loved it so much we booked to come back the next night and we’re just as satisfied with all the different dishes we ordered. If you’re even close to Cascais you must visit - the whole experience was super special!!!
One of my favorite meals I’ve had in Portugal. The food and wine was incredible and our server was very sweet and attentive. We had a great time! Will definitely be back.
Super tasty food, some portions a bit small (octopus). Recommend the fried and the truffle ravioli and the prawns, also the pink lemonade. Aperol Spritz had no bubbles but they took it away and brought back a perfect one. Attentive, very friendly, accommodating service. Strongly recommend, but could be slightly less expensive. But of course, its Cascais. Enjoy!
THE PLACE TO GO IN CASCAIS!If you’re looking for a cool an exciting place to enjoy dinner, this is it!The downstairs/ outside was packed (with tables that seemed to be filled with women!and we were a touch disappointed to be upstairs and inside but it worked out great as the service was perfect and we could actually have a conversation! All of the tapas were tasty if not delicious and the red sangria was 2 Die 4!If you’re looking for a place to satisfy your pallets and the crowd you’re with than this is your place!!
Happened upon this place whilst wandering aimlessly looking for a decent place for a drink in the back streets. As soon as we saw this place it had quality written all over it.Seats in a pedestrianised street, basic tables and chairs which were all but one occupied..soon to be ours.We both were welcomed very warmly and said we were just having a couple of drinks...no problem. The food looked great and sharing platters of meats and cheese were flying out of the kitchen. The restaurant was buzzing, people laughing, smiling, drinking and eating it was like a carnival. We had eaten late so couldnt muster the hunger needed to do the fare on offer justice so we booked for 8.30 tonight.Having walked from Estoril we returned to our hotel there and got about an hours walking respite before setting out again for the restaurant. We arrived 5 minutes early and we were welcomed again with a smiley faced waitress. We ordered our drinks then decided to share a platter and some other items. Our platter consisted of several mixed cold cuts of charcuterie, various cheeses, potatoes with porchini, artichoke, peppers, tomato, greenery, chutney, garlic laced biscuits and bread. We also ordered the pigs cheeks with dauphinoise potatoes (probably the best we have ever had as laced with lashings of really flavoursome cheese and black peppercorns cooked to a perfect consistancy). After two more drinks we asked for the bill which was more than reasonable for the quality of food we had eaten. The staff were superb and the atmosphere made for an amazing night.Even though we were in there only two hours it was just the right place at the right time for us...thank you everyone.
Really nice staff, delicious food & good service - highly recommend you give this place a try if wanting somewhere to eat in Cascais
Found this place based on reviews. The food is great and ambient it is a really nice. They are super busy, lot of people. And porto wine that they gave us at the end is so good! Only minus is that we waited for the food about an hour. It seemed like they forgot about our food, since we used cuver at first. But since everything was tasty, I can not give less than 5 stars.
Best costume service you can ask for. Try their lychee martinis, its definitely worth it. The sharing platters are the best options if you are more than one.
A very popular spot on a Saturday night, or any night! Fun, hip and delicious food and spirits. The focaccia vegetable was perfect, enjoyed my time here, will come back!
We were very lucky to find a table around 6:30pm on a Monday. The waiters were polite and attentive and gave us shots of wine after we finished our dinner. However, the food experience was underwhelming. The sea platter consisted of patés and not fresh seafood as Id expected. The taste was good though. The price was slightly expensive for what they offer. The focaccia with the pork was AMAZING! The meat was very well cooked and the filling was just right. The seating is slightly uncomfortable after a whole days walk. The facilities were clean.
Very casual and good atmosphere. The foods and Drinks are good.Especially fried vegetable was yummy.Just we wrongly ordered an extra pork ham plate which we thought was grilled port. So we got lots of ham in our table for two.If staff told us it was very similar plate which we ordered, It would be very helpful.
Had a very nice evening here for my birthday with my girlfriend. Best cocktails and great food.Wanna thank the girl that served us and all the stuff for their great service.Would totally recommend this place :)
Didn’t research this place in advance but it looked really busy every time we passed. Finally stopped by for a late lunch around 3pm and it was still really busy!Lovely place, great buzz about it and very friendly staff. Our order got lost, apparently, but before we really noticed the owner/manager came over with free nibbles, apologised, and offered us free dessert for later. Our seafood spaghetti was well worth the wait and really good quality. Would definitely return.
Charming Taberna serving very generous local plates and drinks. Don’t miss it if you’re staying in Cascais or spending an evening in town.
