Simple dining room with a relaxed vibe, for gourmet Modern British dishes and set-price lunches.
I recommended this restaurant based on the reviews for a large party booking, so had my fingers crossed that it would meet my expectations. The feedback received was the food was "consistently amazing"; well done TNQ for giving them a great experience.
Really good service and very little waiting time for food. Well organised.. taste of meat was actually average compared to Hawksmoor or Pasteur (Bristol).
I love this place, service is always fab and its true gourmet vegan food which I dont get in many places Thirsty Thursday is a cracking deal as well, definitely check it out!
Delicious food. One of the best roasts weve had in Manchester and definitely the best beef! Friendly and quick service and nice atmosphere.
Had an amazing meal with excellent service and a really good atmosphere. Cant wait to come back again soon.
A beautiful meal of well cooked and nicely presented food, priced well set in a lovely room with friendly and professional staff.Look out for special deals when booking.
The restaurant is lovely with a nice ambience, you can see the chefs cooking from wherever you sit. The tables and table settings are nice and you can look out to the Northern Quarter from the large windows. The service is very good and quick, the Bloody Mary is absolutely delicious. The olives were amazing, good portion and a variety of three olives; black, green and Manzanilla. The roast dinner was nice but not 10/10. The beef was fatty and a bit hard to chew but the roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and sweet potato mash were delicious. The house white wine is also really tasty, light. The lemon meringue pie dessert was also delicious. The restaurant is on a corner in the Northern Quarter, great central location.I like this restaurant, I will definitely go back.
Excellent food. Presentation, flavours, variety of taste snd produce very good. Plus even better if you get a deal
Great place with friendly staff. A bit slow but it could have been the timing of our visit.
Lovely restaurant, friendly staff and great food, loved that they have an open kitchen so you watch your good being made and plated, would definitely recommend a visit
Had the best evening. Have always loved TNQ.
Had the Sunday lunch,a very generous plate but sadly the plate and the food was not hot , the side dishes were delicious and by far the best part of the meal. The staff were friendly but not very professional alot of them were chatting at the bar!! Sadly we will not be returning.
I just got into the place because l couldnt see the prices for beer on the menu outside, l asked for a pint, paid for it and received a half pint £4.50 plus tip. The waiter said he forgot to tell me that they dont do pints in a reckless manner. This is not nice, this is an arrogant manner...
The flavour and delicacy of the stuffed courgette flower was beautiful. We also had the rib eye and sirloin steaks which were great. One of if not the the best rib eye steaks Ive ever had.
First class food and service. Well cooked and well presented food. Atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. A great place to eat.
Food is not great especially for the prices and the staff seem quite new and inexperienced. Sorry to say I wasnt impressed at all. Lets hope that at least they change the menu every now and then.
Been there twice: first was dinner with unlimited wine and we were really impressed by every dish and the service. Second time was for the lunch deal and the dishes were a little lackluster (pea soup had no pea taste although it was pea season, steaks were past medium though we asked for med-rare).Its worth a visit for a reasonably-priced evening with a multi-course menu
One of my Favourite restaurants! When their not stingy that is, first time i went i fell in love with the food and thought the prices were fair for what i got but the second time the portions were half the size. £12 for 1 courgette flower on a plate. £8 chocolate mousse for a few mouthfuls. The first time was not a busy time and the second much busier. So may be i got lucky the first.Ive tried the whole Summer menu, and it really is fantastic! If i was rich, i would come everyday. The staff are attentive. And deserve to be tipped but felt the £21.50 service charge was excessive. Im working class and this meal was a treat for me. Unfortunately i was too embarrassed to ask for it to be removed.
Very very impressed. 10 colleagues and I went for the "Thirsty Thursday" menu. The food was delicious, presented beautifully, no long waits and the service was impeccable. Special mention to Kate and Sylvia who were both super attentive and accommodating. Will definitely be looking to TNQ to host more of our work socials going forward. Thanks a lot
Absolutely loved the experience. It was our first time visiting. I would definitely visit again, also will be recommending it to familt/friends.
Excellent relaxed restaurant in the northern quarter. A hidden gem uncovered for me by a friend. Well worth heading to. Will be going again! Service was as good as the food. Pea soup fish & chips & a lemon meringue.
We are regular Sunday lunch people and are always looking for a new place to eat. We visited here on a visit to Manchester and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and polite and nothing too much trouble. The food was exceptional and can honestly say the best Sunday lunch we have ever had. Will definitely return. We have already recommended to friends and family.
Service was excellent and so was the Sunday lunch and dessert! Really impressed with how they were with my 1-year-old too. The chef made up a mini roast dinner and gave her some ice cream which was really lovely. Lost 1 star because I always find it rude and presumptuous to add the tip to my bill before Ive seen the bill. I was going to tip for the excellent service anyway but if they add a tip without speaking to me next time, I shall ask the cheeky sods to remove it
Okay experience. Decent food, nothing bad but also nothing special.
Service exceptional , very friendly and attentive. Food was good , had Sunday lunch and my partners beef was very good. Roast potatoes a bit over crispy, hard to cut but all the other veg was lovely especially cauliflower cheese. We both lemon meringue pie , so light and different textures different from the usual and we thought it was better. Will definitely be going back when we visit Manchester.
Thank you for hosting my mums suprise 60th birthday meal! The food, the service, the atmosphere... everything was perfect! A wonderful evening filled with happy memories! 5 stars!
My husband and I dined here last night. 3 courses and unlimited wine. We both had the grilled octopus. Absolutely gorgeous. For the mains I had the chicken and husband had the cod loin we ordered a cauliflower cheese side. Honestly couldnt find fault. For dessert I had coconut panna cotta and my husband had the sticky toffee pudding. We had 4 glasses of wine and we also ordered an Old Fashioned cocktail each. Everything was just perfect. Our waitress Katie was lovely and so were all the other staff members. Thank you all so much. Will definitely be coming here again. Cant wait to try the famous Sunday Roast.
Excellent place with quality food and professional service. Was tempted to try this place following the reviews and can honestly say was not disappointed. Will definitely be a paying a visit again soon.
We visited this restaurant Friday afternoon and had the best food, served by the nicest people. Good vibes and a great menu to choose from. We had the steak and crumbed cod and for pudding we ordered the lemon meringue pie and we were not disappointed. Superb!! Lovely from start to finish. Will be heading back soon.
Some things were great but other disappointing.A lot of the food was fantastic. My friend had the lamb which looked and tasted incredible. The wine selection and recommendations were also top notch. The desert was also ace. Lovely and attentive serving staff too.Unfortunately the steak was very disappointing and overcooked even after sending it back once. The cocktails were way too sweet and unbalanced. We also ordered a fair few truffle dishes and found them a bit lacking, think the chef on the day was scared of overdoing it 😅.I have since learnt that people rave about the Truffle chicken dish, so would have to try that if I came back.Overall, quite hit and miss but worth a try if youre in the area.
Amazing chef producing fresh delicious dishes. Loved it, the best food Ive had in a long time!! Would recommend it, Thursty Thursday 😁😁
This place should be 5 stars and if I just had the starter it would have been. This place absolutely has the making of a brilliant restaurant but so many little things let it down. It wasnt busy when we went but food wasnt checked on mains before bringing out. The table behind us only had 2 of 3 starters. Delivery of meat not put away in a timely manner so you practically trapped over it on way to bathroom.Hopefully it was just a bad day when we went this time as would go back just for starter!
We enjoyed a very good dinner celebrating our anniversary. The service was excellent so it was food! I loved the carpaccio and I tasted the tuna as well and it was amazing. My duck was a lovely nice recipe and my partner meat was delicious as well with the sauce. We enjoyed then the cheeses and dessert that were delicious! Special mention to the wines as well! I loved Passori!
Great spot for some delicious food and great wine list. This would be personal preference but the starters on the menu weren’t appealing to us so we just ordered Mains with lots of sides. Again this would be personal preference and the mains were delicious! Service was great and we had a good experience overall
This is one of those places that we constantly walk past and had never been to. Now that we have, we reckon we’ll be back for that fancy, belly-warming fine food & delicious dessertsOur favourites of the night were the Roasted Beetroots [£8], Baked Gnocchi [£17], and both our desserts of Chocolate Terrine [£7.50] and Sticky Toffee Pudding [£7.50]
Went here tonight and had the Sunday roast the food and service was excellent and very reasonable more food than we could eat and all beautiful.
Went here for the Sunday lunch and was not disappointed! Its as good as it looks in the pictures. Staff were friendly and the service was great but above all the food itself was superb. Had the fried pork belly bites and terrine to start and the beef and trio of meats for main, all absolutely beautiful and wouldnt hesitate to recommend going. We left a shopping bag in the restaurant, which they ran down the street to give us!
Great food, Nice and cosy with attentive staff. Highly recommended to visit this lovely establishment.
Stunning exquisite food, service and price. Hidden gem in northern quarter. Food is made by chef to highest standard and really this place should have a michelin star. Staff attentive and professional. Highly recommended. Another visit (in winterand still top class.
Went on Friday and had a great meal with my partner. The Venison Carpaccio was wonderful and the thick cut pork main was top notch. The service was good although the waitress forgot a few things and had to come back to double check as well as some things not being in to make certain cocktails. But hey that stuff happens and didnt take away from a great dining experience
What a romantic, beautiful restaurant! The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful and the food exquisite!Try the onion, cheddar broccoli soup!I absolutely enjoyed the experience and the atmosphere. A relaxing, warm restaurant in Manchester city center.
We decided to try this restaurant based on the reviews and photos and we were not disappointed. We had the mushroom dish and the mussels to start, followed by the lamb dish and veg gnocchi for mains. The gnocchi is quite filling, so be aware if you dont have the biggest appetite.Somehow we managed a pudding too; chocolate terrine, which was heavenly and a sticky toffee pudding. The latter is something I wouldnt normally choose, but having tried some of my partners serving I may just have it on our next visit. If you are a custard fan then just be aware that it isnt on offer with the puddings. Its cream or ice cream only. They also have a good quality wine list to choose from.We were asked about allergens and the staff team could not have been more friendly and helpful. Its not a particularly large restaurant, but had a lovely atmosphere. We popped in there, after 9pm on a Friday, without booking and were lucky to get a table. They do serve until 10pm so useful if youre wanting to eat a bit later. We loved it so much that we booked to go back the following night and try some more of the menu.Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of the food.
We had the Monday special which was £35 for three courses with free wine. With tip and additional cheese course we paid about £90 for two which certainly isn’t nothing for a Monday night and yet all night we had the feeling of being treated like the cheap seats… for example when asked what drinks we wanted we were asked Red, White or Rose, no mention of the type or region or name of any of the wines, just red, white or rose. It felt like since we had gone for the offer with the free wine they felt we wouldn’t care less and were there to just neck it down. I mean the waiter was pleasant enough although he had too many tables to cover meaning we struggled to flag him down through the night. As for the food, every course had only 3 options, 1 meat, 1 fish and 1 vegetarian so very limited in choice, but Ok it’s a special, I get that, but what was disappointing is that both main courses arrived clearly needing sides that we weren’t advised to order… my wife had cod that had greens on the plate but I had to give her half the potatoes (and there weren’t many that I hadand I had chicken that had potatoes and a spoon full of compressed greens, it was screaming out for a crunchy vegetable…it’s a shame because I don’t want to lay in too heavy on a restaurant as these business try to pick up from the pandemic but I think TNQ should either scrap their special, or maybe scrap the free wine part of their special and focus on showcasing their food so that customers having the special will want you come back for their full menu. We ended up feeling cheap but still spent nearly £100, not a great experience.
The streets were very busy on Saturday and we were trying to get food with two dogs in tow. After a very poor experience in a more central place in town, TNQ was great. Food from the express menu was very good and service was exceptional. The only thing that stops it being 5 stars was limited availability and the price of drinks, particularly beer. £5 for a 330ml bottle of what was a decent local beer was too much.
We visited TNQ during eat-out-help-out and positively surprised with the fact at the end that they were doing more discount than the rest applying the scheme, which was exactly the half of what you eat(not only limited with £10 each). Nowadays they are still following that guideline. So, if you wanna have delish food with a discount, it seems like the time.About the food, I liked that they run a fusion kitchen. Especially fancied Middle Eastern and Asian dishes with a modern twist.
Food was delicious. I couldnt finish the starter but that was jus personal preference. I didnt like the whitebait at all. The squid was really good tho.The roast and dessert were incredible.
We popped to TNQ for a weekday lunch as part of the "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme. We had eaten there before but not for a few years. We had the Express Lunch Menu where three courses is £19.95 so under £10 on the scheme, an absolute bargain! We both fully enjoyed all our courses. I had the pea soup, the ham croquette was such a good touch; followed by the fish and chips, one of the best Ive had; and the chocolate terrine for dessert, honestly one of the best desserts Ive had. Service was excellent and such a relaxed atmosphere, particularly at the moment. We were both happy to come back when the scheme is no longer on and pay the usual price as well as try some of the other dishes. With so much choice in Manchester in regards to eating out, TNQ really is a staple in the Northern Quarter. Thank you.
Absolute gem of a restaurant, great decor and ambience, most of the staff were really friendly attentive and right on it. The food was delicious, great produce, well presented and very tasty. We has 2 steaks and a braised beef blade, all perfectly cooked - followed by a gorgeous sticky toffee pudding. A little pricey i guess, but well worth visit. highly recommended
A gorgeous restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and top rate service. The food was beautiful and all 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed it. The attention paid to the member of the parties with food intolerance was brilliant!
Amazing place. The sirlion steak is one of the best I have ever had. Good portion as well. The staff were really friendly and made sure you got looked well after. The sauces which came with the dishes were amazing. Cant recommend this place enoughGood for a formal dinner or so e special occasion. I would classify it as fine dining at a decent price
