Science centre with hands-on exhibits on robots, the human body & more, plus a separate observatory.
TELUS World of Science in Camrose
Description
Privilege
We were here in October 2022 and it was awesome. There is so many things do for all ages. I loved that the parking was free not like Telus Spark in Calgary. My son who hates learning/school keeps asking me when can we come back. I wll be looking into how much a yearly membership costs.
MoreMy Father inlaw visited Alberta from NFLD for the first time. We took him to the mountains and the Badlands and many other places and to Telus. He told us his favorite part of the trip was to the Zeidler Dome. Thank you for being amazing!
MoreStaff on the phone seems really unwilling to help. When inquiring about a birthday party I was told the package I was inquiring about would be “too expensive” and can’t be done for a birthday party. When I asked what birthday package would be suitable for my son age 2, he said “honestly none of them.” When I pressed regarding the “too expensive package” and said do you know the cost for sure? He replied “I don’t know for sure but I know it’s like a $1000.” ….when I asked if there is a room to do cake…he said no nothing like that….wasn’t willing to check to confirm pricing with a manager or on the system - just that “it’s like a $1000” and apparently unaffordable for me.
MoreWell I wasnt sure if it was for Adults, but I did spend many hours there. Free parking, unlike (Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg).I enjoyed the liquid nitrogen show 1;30pm, at that point zero regrets on the visit. The 2 Dome theater free with entry I watched was good, just got a little dizzy, never seen a theater like that before. Movie on the planets and an other on the moon.
MoreVery pleased to express my gratitude to the staff who work at this TELUS World of Science. I was a member due to this unexpected arrival of pandemic, I did not renew my membership, however, I came to see an educational , well done and praiseworthy show with my family on October 2, 2022. I was pleasantly surprised to see the improvements done to TELUS world of Science. The environment , your well trained staff , various exhibits , lively, , committed and loyal volunteers, deserve special thanks. I was served by Katrina in the membership department, Jacqueline in the ticket office, John in the volunteer crew, Andrew and Spencer in the membership enrollment provided me with superb customer service, I found nobody with stress or in a rush in your TELUS WORLD, This speaks volumes about your TELUS World of Science – Edmonton’s mission is to: Ignite curiosity. Inspire discovery. Celebrate science. Change lives...you all are living up to this with joy. making a deep impact on us. Wish you all a peaceful Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
MoreI dreamed of getting married in the Zeidler Dome at TELUS World of Science ever since I heard it was a thing you could actually book! My now-husband and I have a bit of a history there too in our relationship, and so we gave it a shot to book for our wedding Ceremony Venue, and we are so glad it worked out! While it was a little on the pricier side for just the ceremony venue (you can’t host the reception there), it really was worth it. Our ceremony was so unique, and Jaqueline and Frank were so wonderful to work with!Jacqueline was a dream. She was so accommodating, knowledgeable, and kind, yet commanded attention from our rather large bridal party. When it looked as though the weather wasn’t going to cooperate for outdoor photos, she took us and our photographer around to get a few really neat indoor shots. The time limit in the Dome for weddings is rather limited, but Jacqueline made efforts to change/cancel show times beforehand to allow us to get in for set up, and although our ceremony ran a little longer than anticipated, she still allowed us to get a few photos in the Dome afterwards too. She was so helpful in directing everyone at the rehearsal, and ensured everything ran smoothly on the wedding day.The sky is literally the limit when it comes to the options you can choose in the Dome – you can have photos, a slideshow, videos, music, lasers, pretty much you name it, Frank can make it work! We went fairly simple with just the moon and stars as our backdrop, but Frank had the stars moving to start off with, then had shooting stars when I walked down the aisle! At the end we did choose a special “globular cluster” as our exit backdrop, with a little laser firework show saying “presenting Mr. & Mrs.”. I did supply the order of events for the whole ceremony, including our officiant script, etc., but the end did get a little mixed up - the fireworks were supposed to come post-kiss just as our officiant presented us as Husband and Wife, but instead came on during the kiss, and then repeated again for the recession, which all in all turned out fine, it just made for a couple awkward pauses as the groom and I were a little confused on what to do when the cues went off early! This was so minor though, that I don’t think anyone noticed except for us, so to all of our guests, it all went off without a hitch and everyone absolutely loved it. We really couldn’t be happier with our experience, it was a wonderful and memorable way to start our married life together, it was absolutely perfect!
MoreThis museum was at its peak a few years ago. The space section, science garage, curiouscity, nature exchange and planetarium are all well done with lots to see and do for my son.The most recent additions however have been poor. Despite a wealth of topics related to the human body, they put a very sparse exhibit called health zone that somehow manages to bore kids and adults alike. Theres very little depth to any of the stations and much more could have been done within the square footage. The new Arctic exhibit is even worse. Sadly with all the money spent on a new exhibit hall, the result is a complete dud. Its nearly devoid of science topics and instead focuses on a handful of northern Indigenous lifestyle elements, making it much more suited for the Royal Alberta Museum. Worse, its a very cursory look at the lifestyle which makes those people seem like boring caricatures. There are so many missed opportunities here that they should scrap the exhibit altogether. It could have talked about northern geology, ocean currents and their effect on climate, the impact of climate change on sea ice and related ecology, the effect of 24h daytime/nighttime on the land, and many more topics that would help people appreciate our northern territories from various angles. What a shame.
MoreMy experience and the enjoyment I seen on individuals face was awesome. The imax was very interesting. I also found the other exhibits to be fun and educational.
MoreWe have an annual membership for our family. Go twice in a year then its worth it. Good to drop by and catch a show, walk through the exhibits, see anything new as well as the old stuff. Couple hours in an afternoon. Fun time. Oh and the annual membership works in the science centers all over the place.
MoreLovely science play area with enough of a challenge for a wide range of ages.IMAX was typically impressive.
MoreVery clean. Staff were noticed all around the building cleaning high traffic touch spots. Staff were helpful and friendly to the kids. Lots to look at. The imax movies are a bit pricey considering the cost of admission to the actual centre.
MoreDefinitely geared towards young children (3-10). Lots of fun little activities for them. Adults, less so. Wasted a few hours away here doing things made for children lol. I did learn a few things so theres that. The space section is definitely the best. My siblings loved designing their own rocket and trying to get it to take off. Driving the mock rover was fun but trying to actually accomplish the mission is impossible. But Im a terrible driver irl so maybe thats why. The Zeidler dome is aight. Its comfy, I almost fell asleep. The main exhibit is James Cameron under the sea which is too bad. Dinosaurs would have been cooler. Parking is free. Gift shop way overpriced but thats to be expected.
MoreAwesome place for kids and adults too. You can spend time in the science center all day long. My daughter likes to explore things under a microscope. Lots of fun with playing and educating which is feeding your mind.
MoreDecent time but absolutely terrible management, went for a couple hours and washed hands several times but still caught a virus. They do not clean any surfaces at all and there are too many little kids who don’t clean themselves properly to not take care of that situation. Not coming back ever again.
MoreWent to 5 laser shows in the Zielder Dome this August.Led Zeppelin was okay, felt like the sound quality wasnt crisp enough, the lasers didnt have too much narrative either.Did a weekend of Pink Floyd and saw all 4 shows: the Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, the Vision Bell and Welcome to the Machine. Each show had a few song repeats from the previous show, the Wall had the most narrative for its lasers.Best seats are in the back where the text "in" aligns. Its nice that you can stay seated for your next show without having to re-lineup.
MoreToo expensive. Dirty bathrooms both men and womens. Boring for anyone over ten. My 16 year said it best "we will go back in another 5 years." If people think this is a good science centre theyve obviously not been to the Ontario one. Should be called the Kids Science Centre. For this price experiments should be going on every hour and to be sure some of the exhibits are so old now you might want to move them to Fort Edmonton. The new heath exhibit was brutal compared to the environmental one it replaced. Store way overpriced too. Its more of a daycare than a science centre really.
MoreWhat a fun place! Four of us went to the Telus World of Science in Edmonton. We were not expecting much and this blew our minds. There was so much to do inside, my daughter, 4 years old, could have played there all day. After prying her away after 3 hours to go and get something to eat. There is a restaurant there, "Purple Pear", it was a little pricey. But you can pack your own lunch and lunch for the kids and eat on the indoor picnic tables. Next trip to Edmonton we will return.
MoreI have been going since I was a kid. But, now that I have my own I brought my kid here on a weekday and is probably the best time to go. We went in from opening to almost close to see a lot of things. We went to see the Apollo exabit and it was not very interesting so at first I thought I had wasted my money. However, after I asked the staff what else there is to do there is actually quite a lot.For the younger kids there is a section on the main floor where you get to do hands on things like building a Catapult. This was a really fun thing for me and my kid to do.After our catapult build we chatted with one of the employees who happened to be a a young Paleontologist. My child loves dinosaurs and we literally chatted for 20 mins with her and she showed us pictures from her excavation. For my child it was like meeting a Rock Star and this made his month. We caught an IMAX show as it was only a little more for a movie ticket and pop corn and child loved it. Also we didnt realize but there was a free planetarium shows that run through out the day we caught two free movies. There was so much to do for the day Lesson of the story is just ask the friendly staff what to do and an entire day will disappear. I am so glad I asked and interacted with the staff.
MoreA great place to learn and feel like a kid again. The health zone is very hands-on, a great way to connect science to the human body. I did not get to participate in the L.A.B., but it provides opportunity to extract your own DNA, which is something not many people get to do so I like seeing it made available. The Science Garage was my least favourite part, lots of children running around and being very loud. However, I imagine it would be great if I were a kid, especially the optical illusions. The S.P.A.C.E. gallery is great, it has lots of information and an amazing solar system model. There is a game that shoots balls using an air gun, this could use some improvement especially in ball availability. Instructions could be a bit more detailed.I love the idea of the Nature Exchange, it encourages kids to go exploring and engage with nature. There is an enclosure with sugar gliders, although they are adorable and interesting creatures, they are nocturnal and I feel like a better animal could have been chosen that is active while there are visitors at the center.Lastly, the Zeidler Dome is a very cool way to show video content, the presentation I saw was of the aurora borealis (Northern lights). Although the information provided was informative and the visuals stunning, I ended up getting a headache partway through the showing. If you are prone to light or eyestrain induced migraines/ headaches be aware.
MoreWe had a great afternoon here. Enjoyed the exhibits and watched two movies at the Zeidler Dome. Snacks at the Purple Pear were tasty and good value. All staff were helpful, particularly Sam.
MoreSpectacular place, kids loved it!
As a first time visitor to TWOSE I really enjoyed all the things they had to offer. From the Apollo missions to the IMAX movie "Wings over water", it was a great day. Would definitely suggest going during the weekday if at all possible to cut down on noise and lines.
MoreReally enjoyed Laser Stranger Things ❤️
This place was so amazing, me and my family really had such a unforgettable day there. However, there some zones that were closed (some were under maintenance and others were just not workingwhich reduced it our option and time we planned to spent here and there not comments about it where left on Google Maps.Anyways, I can imagine how greater the experience could be if all the attraction were running.
More2022 June 4★Any science center is great for kids. This science center is a bit smaller than some other science centers, but is in the process of expansion. There are two levels of displays and a movie dome. See the map/pictures for what to expect.Current exhibit is an Apollo display.Great for all ages, but well suited for kids about 12 and under.Expect to spend about 2 hours here.Free parking.
MoreWe’ve had a family membership since 2019, this is still our favourite place to visit as a family. New exhibits always entertain curious minds, and the birthday party package was phenomenal! Added bonus: the membership can get you into other centers around North America, so Telus Spark in Calgary will be our next trip, as well as Science World in Vancouver!
MoreOne of the best science Centers in western Canada. Lots for kids of all ages, adults too. You can spend a very productive day with the exhibits plus the iMax theatre and planetarium projectors which are both amazing sights and sounds. We also tried on the insight restaurant and the hot grill items were really good and defied expectations in a very positive way. You will enjoy your day here.
MoreWent here today with my little sister. Unfortunately, it was a little disappointing. I had really fun memories here when I was younger, so I thought it’d be nice to share the experience. I guess it’s been a while since I last visited because there were not as much things to do as I remembered. In particular, the environment exhibit was gone and the biology exhibit isn’t as fun as before. I was looking forward to the display with the jars of gross things and the one where you press and sniff, but they aren’t there anymore. Same with the space exhibit; the replica of the spaceship cabin is gone. Some of the puzzles also had broken/damaged parts. The microscope at the biology exhibit was also not working. Overall, it was an ok experience; I personally wouldn’t come back anytime soon unless there’s an interesting travelling exhibit.
MoreJust as interesting as when I was younger. Cool new exhibits, however some seem as though theyve seen too much abuse as they sometimes didnt seem to work. Ziedler Dome was fantastic, the man working when I visited seems very friendly and happy to show all the wonderful things in the night sky.
MoreOur Girls 4 & 8 and Grandchildren had a blast! We went quite some time ago and can’t wait to see more of the renovations happening. Two and a half hours of trying to go through each area seemed to go by so fast! A bit on the expensive side if you don’t have a membership.
MoreMy nephews love the Telus World of Science, and I enjoy it too. On our last visit we were there all day - we arrived when it opened and left when it closed. There are galleries for younger children (CuriousCity and The Science Garage), and older kids will enjoy the Science Garage too, as well as the IMAX theater, Zeidler Dome, and the SPACE Gallery. There is also the Nature Exchange and the Health Zone, as well as lots of other exhibits to keep everyone busy and interested. While you cant eat in the galleries, there are plenty of tables and chairs in the main entrance area that you can use, and you can bring your own lunch and/or snacks or get food from the Purple Pear Restaurant. They have plenty of lockers that are $1 to use, so you can keep your backpack in your locker and retrieve it at lunchtime, then lock it back up again, and it only costs $2. They have different pricing available if you want to see an IMAX movie or if you dont want to see the feature exhibit and just visit the regular exhibits, but if youre planning on going more than once each year, then the membership is a good option!
MoreSo good to be back! The Science Garage redesign made it all fresh and new again, and we are still pleased to be just as stumped by the same puzzles 😂...the Dinosaur Expedition exhibit was cool too.
MoreIf you have young kids, the Telus World of Science in Edmonton is a must visit. The exhibits are very kids oriented with lot of things to play with. Adults can learn a thing or two too. Plan on spending at least 3 or 4 hours there.
MoreI went there with my 8 yrs old son. We were there for 6 hrs and my son enjoyed there a lot. There are different activities that kids can be engaged in. It help them to be more creative. There were different kinds of materials to build and design new things. We enjoyed the dome theatre, too. The resolution was 10k and was quite amazing experience. There was a movie in IMAX, it was a 3D movie. But it wasn’t as fun as other parts.I recommend this place for kids. It is all science and fun.
MoreIncredible place for visit. Learned a lot about the one person submarine of James Cameron. New building added and finally Telus begin to have the nice look it deserves.
MoreBest value for a membership in Edmonton. Our family goes at least once a month and there is always something new to see.
MoreGreat programs at the Telus World of Science. We bought an annaul family pass. The kids can spend whole days there from 9 to 4 without getting bored. They also have a nature investigation program where staff will guide kids to investigate a topic, research, and answer their questions. Get kids interested and keep them engaged in science!
MoreFun and enough to keep them busy for hours and hours. Staff and volunteers are terrific. Membership is totally worth it. before my son was in school I would go here twice a week. Now we go almost every weekend!
MoreUsed to be on of my favorite places in Edmonton and a world class attraction. It has become a shadow of its former self. The main attraction feels like the same one we walked through for free at Westerner days a couple years ago. Had a few animated dinosaurs, some videos and a few artistically recreated fossil replicas. We walked through a few of the other interactive areas, would have been super awkward if my niece and nefew hadnt come along. All added up to make up to a very crummy experience. I would be embarrassed to recommend this place to anyone right now, and I likely wont return soon.
MoreOur 5 year old twins loved the Dinosaur exhibit and IMAX film. FYI: you can purchase these as a combo. Meanwhile, my husband and I loved the mask policy. Kudos to TWOSE for protecting our vulnerable under 12 population. As parents to an immunocompromised child, this is very much appreciated. We’ll be back to see the Pandas IMAX film!
MoreNice Science platform for kids. Saw Dinosaur expedition, good for young kids. Aurora in zeilder dome is pretty impressive. They are expanding and hopefully more events will open up in post COVID era.
MoreAn amazing experience coming here to enjoy travelling exhibitions and science and astronomy. I have been here many times over the years and have always enjoyed the experience. I recommend coming here for a great time and a great learning experience. There is ample parking. It’s hard to explain all that is in this place, what I recommend is just coming and checking it out and having a great time.
MoreFinally I saw the Marvel universe exhibit. Its like Im 13 once again. Telus WOS really brings in the best show for everyone. A great place for families to bond together. Id say keep it up in coming up with great family exhibits. Its worth my money to have been part of marvel universe at Telus WOS.
MoreWent to the "after hours" Dark Matters (18+showing. Fundamentally the same as the regular experience, except that that are a few satellite bars selling drinks and the are a few extra tables set up for outside presenters to showcase some extra points of interest. These are mostly outside parties that can frame their cause/subject in a scientific frame work and offer an interactive experience.Mostly went for the Marvel exhibit, wasnt disappointed. Always fun for everyone to be had. However, if you like smaller crowds and perhaps dont have kids or just want a kid free evening check the schedule for the Dark Matters event and go then.
MoreI think there are some good features to this place but there are also some flaws.GoodThere is alot of different areas to view which is good for small children to keep them busyA decent amount of room to move around easily unless you have a double stroller then notVery friendly staffTakes a good few hours to go through everythingBadExpensiveNot good with double strollersBeen here twice and there are always so many tables in the cafeteria saying reservedHaving the staff calling out numbers for food is horrible when there are 100+ children screaming and running aroundNo maps showing where to go
MoreSo happy that we visited this science centre. Staff had informed us I f you have a membership your entrance fee is included for all other science centres across North America. Just remember to bring your membership cards with you or some proof of membership.Parking is also free as well and there are many spots available. You’ll need a full day here to explore! This place is great for families and children of all ages. Curious City is great for 2-6yo and the workshops are great for 7-12yo. Washrooms are very clean and kid friendly and cafeteria has plenty of seating and a great menu at fair prices. The current Myth Busters exhibit is a hit with the older kids and adults. The staff are also very helpful and awesome with kids.
MoreProbably the best science center in Canada and gets better all the time. Better than, VanCouver, Calgary and Toronto. Its so interactive. Everything has a pile of thought behind it. On top of that there are hugely informative/theatrical shows every half an hour and there are also people who wonder around doing experiments ... if thats not enough theres also an I-max and science competitions every hour. AND THEN... if you get hungry they have everything you can think of and if you order a lot they bring it out to you. The gift shop is amazing too. Huge selection at great prices.Yep. So gooood! 👍 👍 big ones!
MoreGreat place for discovering and to encourage our kiddos imagination and love for learning.Several great exhibition are coming soon. Our kids favorites, "robots dinasours and body part", games for toddlers and more.Lots of parking space, easy access facility, family friendly!
MoreGrateful that Edmonton has a space for people to experience dinosaurs, and space and special exhibits such as Terry Fox. The IMAX movies are great and the science garage is great hands on for the kids. In the hallways they have hands on science experiments where you can understand science and physics. Thank you donors and philanthropist s alike for keeping and improving the world of science.
MoreThe price is absolutely worth admission to TWOS if you actually take everything it includes in. Its a really great place in the city to take kids 8 and under. They are so occupied in a way that also helps them learn a lot. And their HUGE play place has a giant science water table, a mock kids plane with serving trays and light up cockpit! So cool. My daughter played in the plan alone for 30 minutes. Theres also I bunch of giant building blocks, giant keyboard you walk on, a 3 and under section and much more.Theres demonstrations all the time and the staff are fun and helpful.Theres a restaurant on site. And a super fun gift shop.If you want to visit more than twice in a year its worth getting an annual pass. There so much going on at TWOS that I cant even describe it all. So Ill attach some pictures.Oh theres also a revolving rock wall. Super cool!Just go check it out.
