TAKA - Sushi restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
TAKA in Kuala Lumpur
Description
Privilege
One of the best Japanese experience I had, the food exceed our expectations. We got to meet the head chef - Satoshi, and we had a wonderful waiter - Zain who was really helpful. Will definitely come back for more tasting experiences.
MoreOpted for the premium menu. Being rushed through the dinner despite repeatedly telling the chef to slow down, still the same. Why the hurry? There was no interaction. With the premium price that I was paying, surely, i would have better experience elsewhere. Not visiting again anymore.
MoreExceptional ambience in a private room with very attentive service. The restaurant has 2 main dining areas - the sushi counter and the grill. Excellent ingredients. Highlight was the first dish serving minced tuna neck with seaweed and the grilled Hokkaido scallop. It was a wet day, so the room was slightly chilly and temperature could not be set higher due to the central air-conditioning.
MoreWent there for a meal and was very impressed with the ambience and attitude of the restaurant; the slightly informal setting was perfect as we had the best seats to Chef Daichi Yazawa. Food was excellent and service not too intrusive. The wife and I especially loved the sushi and the shari is top class. Hopefully return in the near future to try the Ozaki kaiseki.
MoreLovely ambience - biggest sushi counter ! The signature tuna hand roll was delicious - melts in your mouth. The sushi was expertly and lovingly made with the freshest ingredients. Great experience.
MoreNice place, very good environment, friendly staff, of coz nice food too
High quality food, highly recommended to try out their yaki dori, decent price for the quality of food. Good service friendly staffs.
MoreThe ambience and environment is a plus point for me. All the service crew were helpful and prompt. My green tea cup was never left half empty. For those of you want a place where you can dine on Japanese food with yakitori choices, can try here. The prices are slightly higher though. Overall a great dining experience.
Moreexcellent chehs skills, exquisitely delicious food with strictly chosen fresh ingredients. staff are well-trained, attentive and polite.
More1. Great hospitality from the chefs, captain and receptionists.2. Food is delicious to my liking and the ingredients used were really fresh.3. Chefs are very patient to answer every questions from us.
MoreGreat place. Rimone was such a great hostess.
Overall is great, the staff is friendly to entertain us. Please reserve a table before you come environment is friendly. Sapporo is nice
MoreGreat Omakase prepared, love the half grill Otoro
Delicious, and high quality. But …. Minor complaint that there was a large fish scale in my Otoro sushi, it’s kinda fine but did take away from what’s an amazing ‘bite’ of food. These things happen, but the chef didn’t seem to care, just shrugged, and dismissed it. Would have been nice to remake it.Also, the chef wasn’t around as we left, as is normally the case as we thank the chef when leaving a Japanese restaurant. He just vanished, no goodbyes or thank you. Seemed a little strange, and not in keeping with our experience in Japan and at other high end Sushi restaurants. A little like he didn’t quite appreciate us eating in his restaurant.Overall, nice food but I feel a bit down about the experience. Disappointing when this place is aiming high with prices and service. I would not recommend. Somethings off with the mood here.
MoreOrdered the Taka omakase which was very filling.I didnt feel the price was justified but thats my personal opinion. Will come back for one of the USHI courses.Bill was served right after the meal which made me feel like they were kicking me out eventhough we were the only people there but overall a good experience
MoreGood environment, Amazing food and experience. Will definitely visit again when I’m back in KL :)
MoreI daresay this is the best omakase in KL. Very delicious, and the premium ingredients used are all carefully selected and flown in fresh from Japan 3 times a week. Chef Yazawa is very skillful indeed, and the service by his team is impeccable.
MoreTaka is, in my opinion, the best sushi restaurant in KL. I went back twice in three days and will make it a point to visit whenever I am in KL from now on. Chef Yazawa Daichis shari is my favorite in KL. It is well flavored and balanced with an al-dente texture. His skills are showcased with each sushi as it is packed just right with plenty of airiness. The neta is well treated and seasoned. The service staff are warm and professional and always make me feel welcome. I look forward to my next meal at Taka when I visit KL again
MoreFood was delicious and service was impeccable throughout the dinner. Many thanks to Ms Fatin for accommodating to my last minute changes for the timing of my reservation. I esp love chatting with the chef! Will definitely come back again
MoreIt was great! We were treated excellently and the food was phenomenal! Worth it and great experience☺️
MoreMe and my girlfriend really wanted to have an omakase experience, so we decided to go to Taka during her birthday. We had so much fun that night, we really enjoyed our time there. The chef and the staff, they are very helpful and friendly. They really entertained us throught the whole 2 hours experience.Very engaging. They share their knowledge, and stories about the food and their chef. Thank you for an amazing night.
MoreGive an honest review will be appropriate as me and my wife visit TAKA for the first time, having our anniversary lunch with their Tsuki Set and a Uni Katsu Sando, as having a high expectation. Unfortunately the Omakase overall experience is below average despite having bad experience over the electrical shut down and compensate us with a Matcha Mochi? Which I personally think other Omakase have better overall experience with that kind of sum. Lastly the most dissatisfy is one of the Tsuki piece - Uni, worst ever and taste broken Uni (nearly vomit out), but Chef in-front of us I respect and not doing it. Overall, this will be my first and last time having Omakase in TAKA.
MoreAll the staff and chef are friendlyIt’s my first time having OmakaseOverall on the food is okayThe beef cooked just niceAnd the environment there is good and chill
MoreOne of the best sushi place in KL, almost felt being transported to Tokyo although there’s still room for improvement especially on staffs (chef assistantshygiene and services.
MoreMy first and last visit was 5 years ago. This will be my first visit to TAKA after Sushi Saito took back his name and chefs. TAKA’s current head chef, Yazawa Daichi-san used to work at Hakkoku at Ginza. Actually I met him once there but we do not know each other then. This meal here at TAKA got postponed since May 2021 because of lockdown. Was so so glad that we finally made it and it surely did not disappoint. Staffs were very friendly and attentive.I really enjoyed the flavour and texture of the shari. It might taste very vinegary to some but I loved it, especially when paired with tuna. I ordered Tsuki course as the rest of the course was not very cheap and I do not want to splurge on my first visit under the new chef. But I do feel that it’s really worth the price tag as all the neta that he served us were really good when I compared to the few sushiyas that I visited frequently. The size, the shape, the taste.. It’s closest to the Japanese taste that I’m used to, and since we are still unable to fly to Japan, this will definitely satisfy my craving for edomae sushi for now.TAKA is really a place for edomae sushi aficionado, I can guarantee this. I can’t wait to revisit them again the next month. And I will try another course on the menu that chef said yes to tweaking it a little for me. Chef is not a person of many words but I do feel if you have any question regarding the food, the origin of the seafood, he would explain them to you.
MoreStaff are super friendly and more importantly the omakase set meal is really good tasty. Even though I cant eat anything raw now they were able to adapt to my dietary constraints and the flavours were definitely not lacking.
MoreTaka is currently helmed by Sushi Chef Yazawa Daichi formerly of Hakkoku in Ginza, Tokyo. Luring someone of Yazawa Sans calibre is indeed quite a feat by the owners of Taka and it shows. Taka is currently serving up some of the freshest and best quality ingredients in town.I had the Taka Omakase which consists of an orchestra of 7 appetisers, 1 grilled fish, 10 sushi & 1 sushi roll. The gastronomical journey consists some of the freshest and top-grade sea urchin, fatty tuna and of course being the winter season, some top flight shirako. If you are in the mood to complement your meal with some Ozaki beef, you can order from Ushis menu, which is just next door to Taka. Look out for the last dish on the menu, which is Chef Yazawa Sans unique take of the tamago. As opposed to the mainstream spongy cake-like omelette we are used to, his version tastes a custard-like cake with a crème brûlée top.Less heavier menus are available such as the (normalOmakase course which consists of 4 appetisers, 1 grilled fish, 10 sushi & 1 sushi roll or Hana which consist of 4 appetisers, 8 sushi & 1 sushi roll. Tsuki, which consists of 8 sushi & 1 sushi roll is available for lunch only.Taka has a decent sake menu offering some of the finest sakes to pair with your meal. Quantities of these fine sakes are limited so it is recommended that you call ahead to ask for the sake menu and reserve a couple of bottles of your favourite sakes to pair with your meal.Albeit the premium pricing, the quality of premium ingredients served by Taka is arguably the finest in town. Service levels at Taka are of course as always, top notch.
MoreWonderful evening at Sushi Taka! Thanks for the fantastic quality every time!
Really nice Ozaki beef omakase. Chef Satoshi was really friendly and the service was really good. Thank you for the wonderful dinner and experience.
MoreBeautiful environment for omakase. Need more surprises on the dishes. Overall good food and good environment. Thank you Chef Daichi and team for the good presentation and nice food. Yet I am still looking for a omakase that can surprise. Keep up the good work Taka and team.
MoreThank you chef and the team for the delicious dinner! We enjoyed our night and definitely will visit again.
MoreCame with high expectations but unfortunately I think I’ve had better omakase experience else where. The food is good but I think the overall experience was just meh. The chef didn’t interact with us much and despite having counter seats, we didn’t get to watch the chef prepare our food as he was situated in the middle of the room.Other than my delicious toro and uni, there was nothing much to rave about. Service is decently good, as expected (well we are paying a hefty sum for it). Honestly don’t think I’ll return as I’d be able to get this elsewhere at a better price.
MoreOISHII~My fiance and I had a superb dining experience. The chef and staff were super friendly and the food.... oh the food was just divine, really left us speechless and still puts a smile on our faces when we talk about it 🤤😍My biggest thank you to Rose and Zing for their attentive service 🥰💖
MoreThe food is well served and delicious. Nothing special on the environment itself.
MoreIs really great experience. And we got a very cute chef 😊
This is a fine cuisine japanese restaurant. Its in the St. Regis hotel premise. The choices of dishes are limited to some set and ala carte but adequate to satisfy a discerning palate. A good choices of sake to accompany your food are available. The chefs style is unique in its presentation and flavour. An enjoyable feast of flavour for the palate.
MoreKeep up the good work! Best omakase in KL for beef!! Sando is a must try!
The Ozaki beef, one of the best beef you can enjoy in the city. 👍
Its the beef place. The food was good especially the beef sandwich. The shabu shabu was also good. The green tea ice cream was yummy
MoreReally nice dining place. I love the way they present the sushi. Chef put attention to details and make sure the sushi are great. Also love the unique experience. Service were fast and chef were friendly too. Highly recommended
MoreAmazing experience dining there. The chef really put attention to details in make the food. They were also very nice to us. Also like the vibe and feel of the restaurant. Cozy and welcoming. Bit expensive but I think it’s worth every penny !!!
MoreOne of the best omakase Ive tried. The chefs attention to detail was amazing and pacing of each serving was perfect.
MoreThis Japanese Restaruant is located at St Regis. We were served by Head Sushi Chef Hirohisa Suzuki.Excellent omakase. The sushi here is comparable to the Michelin starred omakase places in Japan but of course it is slightly more expensive.Highly recommend visiting if your looking for a fine dining Japanese experience Kuala Lumpur
MoreThis is probably the best you can get in KL and the only thing i can pick on is the sake list. A little thin, but other than that enjoyed my time there.
MoreMy wife loved it. The staff was great, private room was great, a bit over priced & the tuna wasnt fat enough are my only complaints. Seeing that they fly most ingredients in & the head chef (in Japanis a 3 star rated Michelin chef the price is ok.
Moreits Michelin rated, its taste equivalent to its rating. As a result, its bit pricy!
MoreIncredible omakase meal. Two different types of sea urchin from different parts of japan, amazing taste difference. The food was excellent as was the service.
MoreThe Omakase style sushi. I honestly tell that this was my first time to had this very expensive sushi but its worth every bite. Sushi itself was amazing and the chef was genious ,Recommend!
MoreJapanese fine dining at its best. Food was great. Had the Tempura courses. It was delicious. Quality goods with thin batter. Fragrant and light. Appetizer was seasonal excellent. Service was top notch. Pricy though.
MoreThe tempura is good but doesnt match the standard of food of the next door neighbour Taka by Sushi Saito. Skip this, and stick to a full blow out next door at Taka.
