Szent Donát Birtok - Winery in Veszprem, Hungary
Not too happy..we had high expectations but first of all they forgot about our reservation. Second, after the first part of the tasting it looked like they forgot about us..shame! Also the host was very rude
Beautiful panorama, tasty food, friendly staff. The atmosphere is not that homely.
The place is nice but the staff was quite arrogant. We had the courage to visit the winery without making a reservation in advance. We accepted the fact the although the restaurant was half empty they could not give us a table. And even when we decided to drink at least a glass of wine, they could offer wine in a paper glass which is quite hilarious, taken into consideration that this is a winery.Buy some extra glasses for God`s sake! However after this experience we found another winery nearby, the Petrànyi Pincészet. They were super friendly, food super delicious and finally it saved our day from the previous bad experience :)
Peaceful, beautiful view over lake Balaton. Great food and wines!
We came to eat and enjoy the view. Their wines are great, but their bistro restaurant needs to develop a lot. Food was a downer, expensive and tasteless.
The view and the place is really beautiful, also the staff are very kind and helpful. The wines are average but the food was just below acceptable. We tried three main course and none of them were good. Maybe the chef just had a bad day but I’d expect much better kitchen from a magic place like this.
Túrógombóc the best. But menu varies from time to time. View is very special to lake Balaton. Make sure you book a table in advance. We visit this restaurant every year during our holiday. Love it very much.
Fantastic food, great service and probably one of the most beautiful views of Balaton.
Wonderful View nice Service
I have to say this is in the top 5 Hungarian restaurants I have visited. Very top quality food, no matter if you choose fish, duck, mangalitsa or venison. They create an absolute excellent food from local ingredients. Additionally, a wide selection of wines is also present. The view from the hillside is the crown of every meal here.
The place is on top of a hill. A car park is available right in front of the house. There are 2 main area, the first one is to chill and to sip a glass of wine while admiring the view on the Lake Ballaton, the second area upstairs it’s the restaurant with a panoramic terrace as well. The place could have been very relaxing if there were no kids running and shouting around. The wine was good and the prices fair. Unfortunately, if you choose the first chilling area, there is no possibility to eat some bakery products, cheese cubes and ham/salam slices as an appetizer next to the wine.
Panorama is beautiful. Staff is nice and helpful. Food is good and enough.
Perfect! Professional staff. Quality food. Good wine. Beautiful view!
Absolutely amazing view. The food and wine are pretty decent too. There was a dog followed us all the way down to the bus stop from the winery. Hope he is not a stray dog. Keep thinking of him. (Maybe she.. 😂)
Lovely vine, and snacks. Bit pricey.
Great food, reasonable prices, best scenic Balaton view ever.
Absolutely worth every penny. Food is great, the wine is greater, and the view is worth the whole trip.
This used to be a terriffic place with a magnificent view. The view is still there. The menu has changed from what it used to be. I miss the old one with more choices and less artistic bling. Just good food would be enough. We had great soup now, but the main course didnt live up to our expectations nor the price level. No beer and no home made lemonades.
Fantastic. The view is stunning, the staff is extremely kind and very well educated as waiters, theyre always there when they needed, but not too much, the quality and presentation of the foods are just first class, portions are also enough. Price is a bit on the expensive side but you definitely get a lot for it, its absolutely worthy and highly recommended to try it in this region, as a very beautiful Balaton experience. Reservation is needed since theyre quite popular. Will definitely go back.
The restaurant is on top of a hill, there is a beautiful view from top. The building has a charming vintage look. Food was well prepared, meats are cooked to perfection. Only downside was the waiters behavior and mistakes.
I would give 6 stars if I could! Best meal of my life. The views are stunning, the presentation of the food is beautiful, and the service is great!
One of the most fantastic places around the Balaton to sip wine and enjoy a stunning view over the lake. You can chill in the garden and taste the superb local wines or sit in the restaurant and enjoy a romantic dinner. Definitely a favourite!
+ location++ view+ design- staff- ambianceNice place to take some pics for instagram but no place to have dinner or drinks
Excellent food with great view to lake Balaton
Very beautiful place, the food is very speciale, simile and so good. I like that the menu it wasnt a list of a lot dishes, just de è of them and very good. The view is Amazing so you can enjoy this good food and Wine in front of the Lake. Thank you very much.
We found it as the best wine&restaurant at the lake Balaton! Delicious and sophisticated food accompanied with special wine and a spectacular view to the lake. Everything is fresh and is served very quickly. And the big plus is the atmosphere, the people who work there hard day by day to provide you with the quality food and wine, and they still smile at you when you arrive. 😊 It’s affordable as well. 👍 Btw I recommend to book a table if you can.
Fantastic views. Not to be missed. Good food and good wine.
The view is amazing. Disappointing that the wine celler wasnt open. The meal we had was miss labelled as lamb chops and we were served lamb cheeks. Tasted good but not we ordered
Wonderful place up the hills of Csopak. Below you the land of vines of St. Donat winery. A choice of gourmet food with specialties of the place. Good service, really special atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting!
Beautiful view of lake Balaton. The food is amazing too, but not a huge selection. Recommended to reserv seats up front because they are very busy especially summer time. I can only recommend it.
Great food and wine. Amazing view!
Perfect place! Food is great and the panorama is incredible!
Great trout from Balaton
Wonderful location for a restaurant. Very warm and welcoming. Delicious food. We were lucky to get a terrace table which offered magnificent views of the lake and surrounding areas.
Excellent high-quality food, professional serving, amazing view.
I would say this is an extra ordinary place. Now its open all year long. If you planing to go to the lake Balaton, this restaurant should be on your list. Also you can bring you dog with you they are okay with it. The food is extraordinary. They tries to use the local goods to cook. Lastly the view is beautiful.
Fine chef restaurant with impressive panoramic view of lake Balaton
Nice place, excellent view, good kitchen, well chosen wine selection. You can feel that the owners were taking care of every bit of details from hidden parking lights to the water for the thirsty dogs. The only disappointment was that the waiters were playing the "big boys". We had no reservation - as the dining idea came en route to Balaton - but arrived at 4:00 pm which is not a busy hour. The restaurant has 70+ seats of which 42 were free. Yet the waiter said if we have no reservation, no table. Finally we manage to eat. From 16:00 till 18:00 still 35 seats were available. If you go there make sure you call them and make reservation - it seems they like it this way ?!
Great food, nice wines, very pleasant atmosphere.
Fine dining. They were very helpful in coming up with two veggie mains for me, even though it wasnt on the menu.
The best place Ive ever seen so far!
Great food and friendly service for a reasonable price
Great location with a perfect view on the Balaton lake. Great food, nice vines, very pleasant atmosphere.
Amazing view, good "almost-fine-dining" dishes, service needs improvement. Getting really popular, reserve table a few days ahead!
Nice view, nice food
Beautiful view, good wines and food
Quality food with stunning view on lake Balaton
Beautiful view every day, great food and hospitality! Try the seasonal dishes! Perfect for rominites.
As mentioned before the view is indeed breathtaking, well worth going there. Food was also quite enjoyable, somewhere between fine-dining and casual dining. Fair pricing, too. Nevertheless, the service needs immediate upgrade if this place want to be successful on the long run.Flexibility to solve problems is not existent and a waitress would never ever say sorry at this place. Even much worse, you will be shamed in a lengthy discussion for your wish that is not going to be fulfilled anyway.
I was there during the last weekend, and left with mixed feelings. The view is breathtaking, unfortunately it is not enough to compensate for the deficiencies in food quality and especially service. So upon arrival (no reservation), the waiter had to ask the seating waiter if places were free, only to know, that actually all the places were unreserved. (For me, a clear sign of unprofessional organisation. But I am a German engineer. Anyhow, all of the waiters were very young and seemingly lacking experience, they somehow looked like trainees.I also asked the waiter, if I could speak to the manager, as I wanted to know the details of organizing a party (weddingthere. So, we were taken to our places and enjoyed the view.We ordered some food and drinks, however the kindness of the waiters was palpably artificial, one could feel their insecurity. On the side line, I had to explicitly ask the waiter, if the manager was available, and was told, the he would come to us after dinner. I would have expected this information to be delivered without asking again. So, the food: the serving was excellent, really nice and creative. However, was lacked was the taste. Chicken tasted like rubber, the sauce felt like a bit of ajvar (serbian/croatian paprika cream). It was nice and OK, but nothing really special. I am not a trained cook, but I prepare better food than that. To some meals it was explained during order, that it is a "redesign" of classical dishes. Well, the redesign did not work our really well. So, then after dinner the "manager" came, after we have explicitely asked, again. She was one of the unfriendliest and most unprofessional one, I have probably ever met. She had a sort of "Übermensch" attitude, and all she was able to tell, why my wishes for the party were not possible. It is only possible to have the party only during opening hours (until 23.00, which in case of a wedding might be surprising). However, this restriction was accepted by us. Then she said, it is not possible to reserve the terrace and have a closed party, we could use the cellar for that. Also, the owner was present, but did not have time to talk to us. (?)Somehow, I would have expected, that as a customer I get an answer like "yes, this can be done, and this is how much it will cost you."So, all in all, the place is excellent (honour to mother Earth), however they are trying way too hard to look like a place for fine-dining, and fail miserably. They are probably hyped and can omit customer focus for the time being.I will definitely waste my money somewhere else in the future.
