Sprawling, open-air zoo featuring a range of exotic wildlife in natural habitat zones.
Szeged Zoo in Szeged
Description
It’s a very nice place to visit with your family, as activities, you can feed the animals with special food from there market, you can have lunch and a place to play for the young children. They have a lot of animals from different part of the world, and the zoo is divided into continents.
MoreVast expanded zoo setting with different zones for wildlife from different continents. It took about 1.5 hours to do a complete tour of all enclosures. Animals looked happy and mostly not stressed. Lots of photographing and souvenir collecting opportunities. Selection of food was very limited when we visited. Overall highly recommended.
MoreVerry nice zoo garden. Lots of animals and super laid out!
Grate experience, will recommend to everyone 😊😊
The possibility to actually see a fossa is clearly an advantage, otherwise the entrance fee is extremely high, most of the animals were wandering around a muddy, poor environment. Some of them (like, one of the tigers and the lionare in a bad shape 😱Info tables are not always easy to find.
Morenice zoo...many animals...kids friendly...can pay with card the entrance + most of the food/shopping inside
MoreWhat is amazing about this Zoo is the fact that is on a forest and most animals are in their natural habitat. They have common european animals but also exotics like penguins, elephant, rhino, lions, giraffe etc.The price for an adult is around 10 euros. You can pay by card or even buy online. Take around minimum 2 hours in order to see all the animals
MoreGreat for families , adults or kids, the same fun !
Weve spent almost 6 hours here with a 2 year old. There are lot of animals to see and there are scheduled attractions every day (except Monday). It was great.
Morebeautiful place, the animals are in very good care, a pleasure to visit
This ZOO is different from what I saw in other European cities nowadays. It looks naturally like a Forrest with a lots of plants and trees and bushes with narrow path walks through it which makes it very useful and pleasure in hot days. The negatives are old cages, poor ventilation inside the pavilions where you cant breath at all, lack of modern features like replacing fences with glass and that would require more investments. It looks the time stopped here some 80 years back. There is no restaurant inside except kiosks with over-fried stuff that you certainly wouldnt like to give to your kids for lunch. Its worth of visiting.
MoreThe tickets are 3100ft not 1500ft as it says on the site. But any how it is very worth it 😊
MoreI really enjoyed it. Everything was very nice :Weve been able to see how they feed the animals.
MoreYou have a lot of parking space there for free. We had a family ticket, 2 adults 1 child about 20€. It is worth every cent! The Zoo is big and has lots of animals. You can feed a few of them with special food. All the animals look healthy and are active. The Kids have a playground. You can also eat and drink in the park. We will definitely visit again.
MoreThis is a zoo which encourages closeness between visitors and animals and encourages interaction. Great experience for kids to get up close with giraffes, goats and deer for example. Also very considerate with animals from the different regions of the world and beneficial from a learning perspective. A great summers day.
MoreGreat zoo! Highly recommend! Its very big, so come rested and take your time.
I love this place.....i walked for 4 hours.... Amazing animals
A great destination for a day, or half-day city break if you are living close to Szeged. Very easy to find ,free parking and of course many wild animals .The place is clean , safe and well maintained and kids friendly. If you still have time, after the zoo, you need to go to visit the city center.
MoreWe couldnt see most of the animals because they were hiding somewhere, I am not even sure that they have, like snow leopard which we could find for a long time, we know where his cage is but it is empty
MoreOne of my favorite zoos. Its the largest zoo in Hungary. It is located in a park with a lake. Good place for families. If you wish however to avoid the crowd you should go Monday to Friday. Last time I went it was Friday and there were about 20 people. The ticket for the zoo is about 2500 HUF. When you buy the tickets buy also animal food for 500 HUF. You can feed several kinds of animals like goats and deers, and it is pretty fun. They also have white lion which cant be seen in a lot of Europe zoos.Update: Ticket is 3100 HUF now and the animal food is 600 HUF. There is a new enclosure for the rhinos. You can also buy gold coin with a rhino image outside of the enclosure.
MoreWe like this zoo very much. It is a nice place to spend your free time with children, but if you are interested in animals, you wont regret your time even without kids.
MoreIf you own an electric skateboard, bring it... This place is huge! Walked for 3 hours, and still did not see all. Fantastic.
MoreBeautiful exhibits, and great to get right up and close to so many animals!
Very many animals to see, especially if not visiting during the winter. You can buy food at the entrance and feed some of the animals, this was much appreciated by my small daughter.Circuit through the zoo is well planned and organized, but reserve at least a few hours as the place is huge.
MoreVery nice place, animals are properly cared for. You can spend at least 2 hours in there. The family ticket (2 adults + 1 childis about 20 euros, but it worth the money. Clean toilets, carbage cans all over the place.
MoreKids enjoy it, but I saw much better zoos. I added an extra star because wolverine. Wolverine was cute.
MoreIts a large zoo, with lots of animals. Its very clean and the animals look very well taken care of. We spent here 5-6 hours in a relaxing day. You can also buy food, icecream or the traditional kurtos kalacs and most of them accept card payment.
MoreGod place for kids and adults, a large variety of animals.
Nice big zoo in the middle of the forest a lot of animals, they are clean and well treated. you can also burn calories with so many steps.😂if you want a see a show, you need to go daily at 10.30 or 15.the entrance is 3100 huf/person.
MoreWe visited with kids, it was a great experience. This is a small zoo, but it still has a nice variety of animals. The staff is open, we had the possibility to see a baby kangaroo up close in the pouch of one of the staffers. If you visit be sure to buy feed for the animals as there are lot of places where your kids can get up close to them and feed.
MoreFor the size of city that Szeged is, the zoo is surprising. It has a great range of animals clustered by their geography and some exotics animals that you dont always see at some more established zoos. It took us above half a day to cover the animals. The only down side was that the food / drink options were limited.
MoreReally nice zoo, great staff, with lots of special animals (at least we have never seen them before). Our favorite one was the baby pygmy hippopotamus. 😊 ❤️ I definitely recommend this place, they are also currently working on a lot of parts, so its even going to be better. 😊 The entrance fee was 3.100 HUF per person, you can pay by SZÉP card.
MoreNice place but mosquitoes there are a lot
Have walking shoes as there is some walking involved! When ordering food, take a picture of it so you can clarify what you want as they don’t really speak other language than Hungarian. Parking is free on the grass but you might find a spot under the shade on a narrow road. there is a store at the exit in case you want to get some memorabilia.
MoreIf you are in Szeged, this is a must see. It is on the edge of the city but you can easily get there by car. The parking are is big, so you wont have to be afraid of running out of space. At the entrance you usually have to wait a few minutes to buy your ticket. The area itself is huge. You can easily spend a day here or two just by walking around. The animals are spectacular, and there are animal shows available. It is really worth going there.
MoreA very nice Zoo with a lot of animals on a huge area. Could use a bike rental. The animals were seemed to be kept in a good condition. We visited all major atrractions like feedings etc. It took a whole day. The white lions are very interesting, but there are a lot of other big cats as well. Definitely worth a visit. The only thing they lag behind is the amount and the cleanliness of toilettes.
MoreNice place, smell could be better in some parts.
This zoo is huge and looks close to nature with amazing services. Animals are kept well. There is a great variety of species.
MoreWonderful for kids and for parents! Card payment, clean wc, playgrounds and relaxation, animals grouped on continents, the map recived at the entrance very userul! easy accesd besides MOL gazoline!
MoreSome parts were closed, but its still enormous, can be a whole day program for a family. Wide variety of animals, good infrastructure, funny and amazing seal show! Big up and highly recommended!
MoreBeautiful place and so much. Nice and helpful staff. Clear end easy navigation on the site.
MoreGreat place. There are so many animals. You need a complete day to see everything!
MoreThe place is very nice because it is in the middle of a forest! There are many animals to visit, such as: elephants, giraffes, tigers, lions, lemurians, baboons. Lovely place for children! The price is 2400 ft for adults.
MoreGreat zoo, lot of animals. If you visit Szeged, this zoo is a. Must. Friendly people and helpful. Giraffes, white lions am many many animals.
MoreA little unfriendly with foreingers as all the descriptions are written in local language only.
MoreBeautiful zoo, with lots of animals, some of them very rare in the zoos like red panda, penguins, white lions, anteater etc. Most of the animals live in very good conditions. You can get the map at the entrance. Theres a place where you can sit to drink or eat something and a few toilets around. The zoo is in the forest, but also very close to the center of Szeged.
MoreDespite pouring rain and cold weather it was a very good experience for the whole family
MoreVery many exotic animals. Nice place for a family day. Lots of trees. We especialy enjoy the giraffes
MoreDefinitely worth a visit even in the winter!
