Szechuan Garden - Chinese restaurant in Concord, United States
Still starving after that large fresh hot Chinese box of disappointment 👍🏽JUST A HEADS UP—No one go by the hours that they claim to be open until! Apparently they decide when they feel like wrapping it up for the night. They claim to be open until 10pm on Wednesdays and I’ve been trying to call them since 9:10pm and no answer.
Food is disappointing bland, and they had to of used can vegs. Will never return for food
Good variety, good service, comfortable
Food wasnt very good. Two of the people got sick several hours later. Will not go there again.
Food ok, service was slow but pleasant. No waiting on a Saturday night. Plenty of parking.
One of the best Chinese restaurants in the cities of Concord/Penacook! This was our regular take out place for three years before we moved out of the area because it was so good. Our favorites were the crab rangoons and the chicken. Great food and great service! We will miss you Szechuan!
First time visit because my usual place was closed. Got the generals chicken lunch combo. The rice was bland even after adding some soy sauce. The chicken was also very lacking in flavor for it being generals chicken, and the last point was everything was ridiculously proportioned out. The rice was 2 equal mounds and the generals chicken has exactly 6 pieces. Didnt curb my Chinese food craving and I didnt even finish the meal because of how lackluster it was. The positive is the establishment was very clean and tidy but if my usual Chinese food place is ever closed again in the area Ill be eating elsewhere
Have not been in awhile. We moved out of town. It’s not fab by any stretch but it is good food and drinks. We had Mongolian beef, hot and sour soup, platter
In the past this had been our familys go-to Chinese restaurant for years. Was in the area and stopped in for lunch but sad to say the food was horrible.
Picked up take out. Quality has gone way down. Meals were tasteless. Shrimp wasNot fresh. Very small portions. Could not enjoy and ruined our evening.smallportion and oulf not enjoy either meal
Always a pleasure. Great food and excellent service. This place is a must on the to do list
Went today for lunch, food was reheated, very fast service food came out in no time at all..giving it a 2 as Ive been here b4 and it was good so cant give a one
Food is always fresh and very fast service
The food was superb and what a great atmosphere to just chill and have a good time. Love the rangoons and the chicken and vegetables. So good! The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Great place to meet up after work for a drink in the bar as well. Will definitely be going back for dinner and drinks!
I havent been there in years happened to be at that end of town and figured why not give it a try again well definitely not disappointed food and service was top notch much better than I remembered liked it back and the 90s and is still good today
Any time I come by this part of the state, (sadly quite rareI make it a point to eat here. The food is great.
Good for the food and drinks in this time dealing with covid but stinks they no longer have the dj and other room open.
Had chicken and asparagus in garlic sauce. Lots of tasty tender asparagus. Dumplings were awesome. Outside is normal mini mall but really Good atmosphere.
Best place to hang out on Friday and Saturday night! So many fun memories with friends! Strong drinks, good music, oh and some good Chinese too!
We got there, about 830pm. Hardly anyone there. It took the server about 10 minutes to come get our order. Whatever you, dont look too close, or up, or down. Come blindfolded. If the cobwebs and dust hanging from the lights right over the table dont gross you out, the sound of everyone shoes sticking to the floor when they walk by should... imagine the kitchen.Food was ok.
The best Chinese in town. Always friendly. Service is fast and pricing very reasonable. We ordered a lot of food and it was still ready for takeout in 15min.
Just moved to concord, me and my girl were looking for a new chinese spot and this one was close by. Good reviews and nice place, but wow the food was absolutely horrible. We got two house special orders and the chicken was overcooked, and by chicken i mean breading because there was barely chicken, and it didnt even taste like general tsos. And my shrimp tasted like it had gone bad a couple days ago. Im big on chances so ill give them another shot at some point i guess, but wow. TERRIBLE first impression. We ate half of it and threw the rest out cause it was so bad. The people were very friendly however. 5 star service but 1 star food.
Fast service, friendly staff! We stayed 2 hours, lost track of the time, and never felt rushed to leave! Great food too!
We had some good food. Good service. Food was slow to come out but was tasty. One dish we sent back and asked to have it removed from our bill due to not being cooked enough but the rest of the food was hot and yummy.
First time trying Szechuan Garden. The service was great. Plates were chipped badly. Food was good would have been better if it was served hot considering we were the only ones dinning in. Considering all the great reviews I would probably try one more time to see if it was just a off day.
We went there instead of our usual place. Im not a big eater but what they give you for a puppy player for 4 compared to other places was very little. Like I said Im not a big eater and it did not fill us. Not worth $50. Ill stick to ware i usually go.
Excellent food and service! The waiter was so elegant and the amazing chicken truly was amazing. Will be back!*appeared to be taking covid guidelines seriously too, so that was nice.
My husband and I took Grandma for her 91st birthday tonight. She had no complaints about the food. The waiter was very friendly. :)
BEST CHINESE FOOD IN NH. Highly recommend. We got the poopoo for two and pork fried rice and 5 stars. Also when I went to pick up it was so clean, smelled so good inside and just a wonderful experience. Will be back for sure!
Been coming here since I was a kid. Owner is a very kind individual. Food has for the most part stayed consistent over the years which is something not many restraunts can say. I would like to see a couple additional things on the menu as they either were removed or never added, but that is minimal. Good overall.
Having gone to this restaurant for years I can truly say its been on a downward decline in both its building, decor, drinks and food. Last time I ordered there for pick up I waited for almost 45 minutes for my food and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant! I ordered like 3 items that came to nearly 40 dollars... I live but ten minutes away and it was summer time - my food was at best luke warm. The entree smelled like the protein had soured and tasted gross. I couldnt even eat it or the lo mien; it was a congealed mess and smelled foul. Only item I could eat was the crab ragoons. I returned the next day and talked to the manager; he didnt bother to offer me another order of the food, insisted they cook everything to order and fresh. He did refund my money. Oh and he didnt bother to check the food I returned, he just threw it away. Will never order food there again.
I have had descent experiences with eating from this restaurant. Most of those have been dine-in. Yesterday I got take-out. It was 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Doesnt even matter if the restaurant was in a lull between meals, this food was horrendous! $45 for tough as hell scallion pancakes, crab rangoon, General Tsos chicken, and chicken fingers. The only edible dish was the lo main.... because you know, noodles. Everything was dry, tough and felt like it was left over from lunch (or the day beforeand microwaved. This restaurant will never receive any of my money again.
Food is average. Ming will usually greet you and hes an absolute sweetheart. The owner, Tom, is another story. Yelling at his employees in front of customers is not only embarrassing for the employee but for customers as well. He walks around looking like hes going to take someones head off. Not enjoyable when hes around. Used to be very popular. Not sure what happened. Has just slowly kept going down hill.
I normally dont give out one star reviews. But this place has some serious improvement that needs to be done. It seems like the shell of something it used to be. Chicken didnt taste very fresh and it definitely was not crispy as described and there was way too much sauce! Broccoli was practically raw still and a lot of the food came out suspiciously quick. Place seems kind of beat down and it was very slow when I went in during lunch time.Update 7/26: Order Szechuan Shredded Beef and the beef tasted like it had spoiled. Wasnt the worst thing ever, but it waste definitely hard to miss and I sent it back. Fried rice was ok, but not very fresh either. Wonton soup was good.. They replaced my meal with the chicken version of it and it was much hotter, very fresh and tasted excellent!
Honestly, the worst food I have ever had. We threw our take out in the trash, it was such a waste of money. The Szechuan dumplings should come with a warning that it is swimming in peanut butter. Nothing was salted. Dumplings should not have the consistency of soggy pancakes.
The food at Szechuan Garden is very good and plentiful. They give you orange slices with your fortune cookies at the end of the meal. The staff is cheerful and welcoming. The decor is a bit dated.
I havent been to this restaurant for quite a while and I went to another one down the street from them because I was disappointed with there rice, however I decided to give it another try. Oh my God everything I ordered was the best meal I have ever had. Since i been going to any restaurant in my life. Bravo to my new friends at Szechuan Gardens. Love every little bit of it . Thanks, Diane
I came here a few times with some Chinese friends of mine. They said the food was authentic, and its so tasty too! I came here for a quick dinner and drinks with my sister and the bartender was so funny, had us in stitches. I cant wait to go back!
Szechuan Garden is my favorite place for Chinese food, I love their food and they have the best crab rangoons! The service is good and it’s a fun place to have some drinks, dancing/karaoke or just hang out to listen to a good band.Thomas & Ming are great!!!!
Used to be the best restaurant in town, I dont know what happened! Service is great, but most of the food is tasteless. The chicken wings were amazing years ago, now they have zero flavor. Did take out a few months ago, ate in a couple of weeks ago, and it was very disappointing both times. Breaks my heart, I started going to that restaurant in 1993.
Horrible. The one time I went was for takeout and the food just wasnt done right. The fried rice didnt taste fried, it was more cooked and soy sauced rather than fried in oil. Distinct difference between the two. The scallion pancakes were super thick kind of losing the usual crisp taste thst Im used too. Instead these were thick lick American pancakes. My main dish, and I cant remember exactly what that was, was just ok. For a $25 meal for one, I felt my money was wasted and I should have just gotten some French fries, sweet and sour sauce from McDonalds 👌🏿
Delicious food, quick, friendly service, and one fine Mai Tai made for another great visit. Szechuan isnt far from home, so its our go-to Chinese spot. Always good, and fairly priced. Enjoy!
Ordered a few appetizers, fried rice,1 beer & 1 Long Island! All of the food was flavor-free, my drink,if I wanted lemonade I would have ordered it! The only thing with flavor was the beer! We will be trying the "Take out only "place by Thirty Pines next time we want Chinese food! Only 1 star because it made me to be able to post my review😊
Heres one to stay away from. This place is filthy. Lamps are covered in dust. Window shades have dead smeared bugs in them that show right through while the sun is shining in. When the waiter gave us our plates, he used his bare hand to wipe hair or something of of them. The table in the next room was so obnoxiously loud that we couldnt even hear each other and we werent even close to the bar. When I mentioned it they did nothing. Finally I was so fed up that I just asked them to turn it into a takeout order. When we got home to eat, the story just got worse. The scallops were overcooked and like rubber. The pork fried rice was like mush. You could tell it was frozen. The spare ribs tasted like cardboard. The crab rangoon had minimal stuffing in them (smallest rangoons Ive ever seen). The white rice and egg rolls were ok. Even my kids and dogs turned their noses up at it. Maybe this is a great restaurant for your local drunk crowd, but not for someone who values a pleasant evening out with his wife in hopes for decent service and a well cooked meal.
I think the food must be held in a warmer, for too long. The meats were too dry and the sauces were separating. When we mentioned that the chicken wings were missing from our meal, our waitress said she snagged us a couple from another order. The alcoholic drink wasnt made to order. The beef and broccoli tasted so spoiled we ended up leaving it all. Our waitress explained we should have told her before and continued to charge for the uneaten food. So, paid for food that was dry, separated and seemed spoiled. Paid for food from someone elses plate, drink was watered down at best. Wouldnt recommend, although depending on my symptoms over the coming days I may be calling the health department.
Service is prompt and friendly. The specialty cocktail menu is pretty indecipherable from the descriptions, as far as explaining whats in the drink. We dined on a Friday night and left just as the bar side was starting in on karaoke. Seemed like a fun placed to go for an evening, as well as tasty food with good pricing.
Ordered PU PU for 2 and everything was very dry and no flavor. Sesame Chicken pretty good, and Sesame Beef not very good - over cooked. Seated and served and had to hunt our waiter down. Never returned to check on us. This will be our 1st and last visit. Definitely not impressed.
Generally this is a very good quality restaurant, although pricey, however; our last order was overdone and poor quality. General Tsaos chicken was overlooked which made the chicken totally chewy and stringy, and the rice was as dry as the Mohave. Sweet and sour was ok, and the egg rolls were edible, but for the price the quality was extremely poor. Much better food and reasonably priced items are available at other restaurants within a 1/2 mile. Likely wont return here.
Service is horrendous! "Becky" Pretty much stares at you for about 20 minutes before speaking to you with a stank eye. Takes forever to finally to get your food/drink. I have no idea how such rude terrible servers have kept a job here so long. Makes me wonder ! Time to get rid of some of your help and replace with some nice friendly fresh faces. 😉
Still best in NH. Ive been coming here for decades. The two brothers who own it are kind, friendly and funny. Simply the best scallion pancakes. Flaky not chewy like others Ive had. So glad to see this NH small business continues to do well.
