Jevrejska 11, Novi Sad 21000, Serbia, Novi Sad
This former synagogue completed in 1909 now serves as a venue for concerts & cultural events.
As a New York jew, I had complicated feelings. A bit sad this is no longer used for services BUT so happy that Serbia and Novi Sad have decided to maintain it. As a concert venue, this may very well be one of my favorite places Ive ever seen a concert (it helped that the musicians were fantastic). The acoustics were exceptional. I look forward to visiting again.
Magnificent building. It was closed and there was no way to see it from inside when I visited on 12 Aug 2022.
Beautiful from the outside BUT the grumpy racist guard doesn’t let you in unless you pay. Very rude person. Not sure if this is protocol but I’d avoid this place or it’ll ruin your day.
Moving.
Good
Massive shrine of Jews, with a pathetic history...
Beautiful place. Generally it is locked but one you approach the guard then he opens the door for you. There are cherry plants in the courtyard of synagogue and me and my wife enjoyed it very much
great acoustic but terrible seats
Very unique synagogue. It has a huge pipe organ which is not something that you can normally see in synagogues...It is closed most of the time so make sure to check the opening hours in advance!
Novi Sad Synagogue is one of many cultural institutions in Novi Sad, Serbia, in the capital of Serbian the province of Vojvodina. Located on Jevrejska (JewishStreet, in the city center, the synagogue has been recognized as a historic landmark. It served the local Neolog congregation. In 1991 Novi Sad Synagogue was added to Spatial Cultural-Historical Units of Great Importance list, and it is protected by Republic of Serbia.
Very beautiful Synagogue in Novi Sad
Must visit, when you are in Novi Sad!
I am still not sure if we can go inside Synagogue. We visited 4-5 times but Everytime found it to be closed
What synagogues miss in terms of murals paintings, they make up for with architecture and stained glass windows. The Novi Sad Synagogue is no exception and charms you with its conventional good-looks. There are no tickets but you’re encouraged to make a donation depending on the size of your group, which we readily did.
Very old Synagogue. Good place to visit
My favourite building in Novi Sad
Impressive synagogue building. The guard let us in for a tip
Jewish church, beautiful arhitekture.
Novi Sad Synagogue is one of 4 synagogues in Serbia. It was built at the begining of 20th century to serve a local Jewish community. Today it is one of the most acoustic cultural venues. The only functioning synagogue in Serbia is located in Belgrade. The building exterior is beautiful and it is a great photography hot spot in Novi Sad.
Excellent for clasic live concerts, long heritage...
The historical, cultural place You must visit in Novi Sad. One of the rare synagogues that still stands after WWII in Vojvodna. It is sacral but also cultural point of Novi Sad, very good concerts are held there. And in arhitectual way it is just beautifal, outside and inside. It is not open all the time, so if You want to see interior, find out first when it is open. And You will not regret.
Beautiful architecture...
Beautiful building with some good and sad history, I come here to pay my respects to the Jewish people during the war and they sometimes host amzing musical arts such as pianists and orchestras.
