Sylvan Lake Beach Park Inc - Campsite in Windham, United States
Being here five years definitely wish to stay forever will be there 2023 it’s an amazing place the camp manager Chris Doris Kim and Doug are great and the owners are all wonderful definitely a place I would recommend and the grounds have a really spiritual royal feeling to it my dog loves when we arrive very dog friendly🌞🌈Grounding rainbows and sunshine
We stayed for 3 weeks here and loved it! Great location, sites are spacious and very quiet. The camp hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend this campground!
Wonderful quiet place to spend the day
Amazing campground, very clean & maintained place . Been camping there over 20 years .Nice place for family & friends getaway !!😀
Quiet and simple with very clean rest areas.
Really nice owners and beautiful spot
Lovely, quiet campground. Old bath house but clean. Lake was beautiful, and sand was perfect for little kids. helpful staff.
Love this private place me my family and friends have been coming for over 10 years now ""cheers" love from queens ny
Great get away. During week is best. Very quiet. Camping here for 2 weeks. Clean bathrooms. Showers have excellent pressure. There are swimming restrictions but that is based on safety and law requirements. Amazing staff. Owls frogs swans loons and ducks are among the nature here. Bring your kayak.😊
Nice campground and beautiful lake. Only stay one night. Would come back. Sites were well spaced apart and all hookups were easy.
Beautiful and picturesque with a very friendly and helpful staff.
Very meticulously kept grounds.Kim and Doug were very welcoming and there if we needed them. I highly recommend this campground.
Very clean and well maintained. Friendly, caring owners. Joined some friends who have been there many times and it will be a yearly stop now. A lot to do in the beautiful area. I recommend the walking bridge over the Hudson and lunch at the Culinary Institute followed by a few wineries and fishing back at camp.
Beautiful beach, large, shady campsites. Nice quiet off the road atmosphere.
Definitely a perfect place if you are trying to convince someone who have never been to camping to go to camping with you. Loved this family friendly camping ground. Bathroom and showers are very clean. They also have a small beach and swimming area. The campsites have electricity and tap water as well.
We stayed here just one night as we were passing through. We stayed at a full hookup site. The campground appears to be mostly seasonal/long-term, though there were also a couple of tenters and some other short term campers as well. The staff were very friendly and great to deal with. There is a playground and Beach area on-site, which my kids loved. There are a couple of bathrooms and laundry faculty on-site as well. Some sites were crammed in together (where we stayed), and others had a lot of space between. We probably should have looked around and picked a spot we liked better, but it was a long day, and we just wanted a spot to park for the night, and with hookups to clean out before getting home the next day, and it did all of that. The hookups were great. The water pressure was good, electricity never got below 114 V, and it was a hot day with plenty of air conditioners running. It is a bit rundown and dated, and a lot of the trailers were also dilapidated. However, a nice part of the obviously older campground is that the trees are very large and mature. Overall, it was a nice place to do an overnight, but its not my cup of tea for a destination location. But I usually like to stay in state/national parks or boondocking.I would stay here again overnight, but wouldnt make it a destination.
Our campsite was superb, right by the lake and close to the bathrooms. Each site has a post with a green light, faucet, and electric outlet, which was so convenient for easy access. The most impressive aspect was, the bathrooms were so clean!! Ive never seen park bathrooms spotless. Great place and great experience. Will go back! 👍🏼
My stay was during the week, when it was quiet and peaceful. Sites were clean and nicely sized. Staff and seasonal campers all seemed friendly and welcoming.
This is a very pretty park, on a small lake. There is a small swimming area, and picnic areas. On one hilltop are seasonal RV campers. The other hill (The Meadowhas some seasonals but is mostly transient people. The sites are decent-sized and are fairly level. The sewer hookup is more elevated than we would like. When you come in off Beekman Rd, dont be deterred by the Dead End sign. The road dead-ends at the campground. The laundry was very clean. The tent sites around the lake are very nice. I didnt use the bathrooms, but if they are like the laundry, they are clean. Its a very laid-back place. Sites have picnic tables, trash can and fire pit. Its a great location to see all the Hudson Valley sites. We paid an extra $20 to have access to Direct TV for the week. They no longer have cable, but they do have a guy on-site to help you hook up the Direct TV. This campground is old, but generally well cared for. We would camp here again.
Sites for RVs were level front to back, mostly gravel, A picnic table and a trash can was provided for each site. Sewer connection was above the site and way back along the tree line, unfortunately. Bring a long sewer hose and work the sewage back to the drain. A quiet campground, water tasted good. The west sites had shade in the afternoon.
Nice and quiet camp ground. Tent sites were pretty exposed but it was a lovely stay!
We stayed the season, had no problems, it was quiet and scenic. The owner and management were great and helpful. Returning for another great season!!
We had a great experience here. The campsite was clean, as were the facilities. My son enjoyed playing in the lake. The staff were kind and helpful. I appreciated that they enforced the quiet time after 11 pm. There was a very noisy group several sites from us blaring house and techno music, which unfortunately interferes with the peace and serenity of the place. Other than that, it was really great. We will definitely come back again.
As much as I would like to leave a positive review, the treatment we have received at this campground has compelled me to share. The lake itself is gorgeous, clean and by far the highlight is this location. Kayaking is easy and accessible and the beach, albeit small, is a nice amenity to have.Because of COVID, much of the campground is closed, which is not surprising, but we were also not made aware of prior to arriving. We booked our site through reserve America (which the campground links to directly from their websiteand received no indication or prior warning of what rules would be in place during our stay. The beach was definitely our motivation in selecting this location. The manager, as well as various other employees have chased us down numerous times during our brief stay to impose a new rule or to charge us extra for my visiting parents for the day. (No dogs on the beach ( ours were at a table in the grass nowhere near the sand), no swimming (as we were knee deep in the water), no guests allowed, but then declared there was a $10 charge per guest, and proceeded to overcharge our credit card... The list goes on).The manager also proceeded to argue with us this afternoon, scolding us for being knee deep in the lake, and was incredibly rude and unnecessarily confrontational. He informed us the only way to book was to call their office and had we done it the right way, we would know that everything was closed. Untrue, and we paid full price for none of the amenities, or hospitality.I would not recommend this campground. NYS is packed with campgrounds with lots of well kept amenities, friendly staff, and beautiful scenery. Take your money and family elsewhere.
Quiet since beach part had closed for the season. Very nice hosts. Pretty setting. Enjoyed our stay even though gone all day every day and not really around until evening.
Friendly staff, very accommodating. Camp ground is quiet and clean. Friendly campers. For us it is a perfect quick weekend get away place!
Paid 50 cents for a shower after we paid 50 bucks for night with No hook ups when we arrived due to quiet hrs . Parked out front for night but no water bc water connector was broken. Only thing nice was view.
Friendly staff. Kim is awesome, she helped us for info and booking. They provided the ice and woods also offered to drive their electric car. Nice lake beach, park and play area. Kids had lot of fun and would like to come back here again.
Stopped here hoping for 1 night of camping but was denied although there were other campers here (long term?Stopped at office and used there phone to check in like the sign said. Was told they were closed for the night at 2:45 in the afternoon although the sign said open till 6. Campgrounds looked like a dump anyway. Rather stay at Walmart 😫
We decided to go tent camping in the off season, and this site was perfect for that. The sites can be close, but in the off season we were so far away from anyone that it didnt matter. We fortunately had great weather while there, and waking up to the view of the lake was nice. The staff are friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be with the shower. There is one mens, and one womens, shower per bathhouse, so Im not sure how this goes over during the busy season. The mens shower really needed some CLR and a good scrub, but the water was hot and the shower made me feel presentable when interacting with the locals. We still enjoyed our stay, and would definitely camp here again.
Was hesitant after seeing the reviews but decided to take a chance anyway. Im extremely glad I did! It was a beautiful campground. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a pleasant staff member. Afterward, my boyfriend and I were placed near the pristine lake. It was an absolute scenic delight to eat breakfast near the lake. Our campground came with a fire pit, a charcoal grill, and a picnic table. The bathrooms were a nice, brief walk from our campsite. Be sure to bring quarters if you plan to shower....50 cents for a 10-minute shower. Also, there was a washer and dryer on the campgrounds! My only complaint was that the firewood they advertised was a bit damp so we werent able to create a fire the first night. Overall, our time at sylvan lake beach park was lovely and refreshing.
Nice park. Staff was helpful. We enjoyed our time there. If youre from the south, dont expect that southern charm of campers, but the people are nice. We stayed one week. I was expecting a huge lake but its okay. Im accustomed to very large lakes when camping. We came in on a rainy night and was helped to get parked by the on-call staff. We were glad to see all you need to do is call the number posted and help is one the way. Hope to go back again
Came here late summer 2017 with my family and another family. It was their first time, but my family and I camp regularly. The first timers had a blast and insisted we return. I brought my Kayak along and utilized the beautiful lake. It was calm enough that my friend whom cant swim, was comfortable enough to venture out.The old man is pretty straight forward and accommodating over all. They delivered fire wood to our site and although we arrived very late, someone came to the check-in station to check us in and give us a brief run down, he too was friendly. This site didnt hassle us at all patrolling the grounds and the sites, pits and bathroom facilities were well kept.Decent water pressure too.Ill be returning 2018 with my family. When all the parks were booked, Sylvan Lake Beach Park still had openings and allowed us to register directly last minute. Its a reasonable drive from the NYC as well. Glad I discovered this place to bring my family.
Nice quiet area with very clean grounds and campsites. The folks working here were very nice and keep the campground sparkling. Quite a few seasonal folks but plenty of camp sites especially down near the lake. Our only complaint was that the bathhouse were we took our showers never seemed to get cleaned (the same soap pieces, shampoo bottle, etc was the every dayfor several days.
Close enough to NYC. Took the train in one day. Nice and quiet campground
Well I have had the worst experience with a campground that I have ever had. Hospitality is something they know nothing about. My family and I rented two spots for nine days. We were treated poorly very unprofessional. If your gonna consider staying here. I would reconsider. If I couldve give a rating of less than one star I would!
Terrible experience. Management and owner is very rude and disrespectful! Me and my family came from Tennessee and reserved 2 sites for 9 days. The first and only night we stayed the owner called the law to come kick us out for “excessive drinking and partying and urinating in the road and for not being able to speak English when told to be quiet.” Me and my family did not even have alcohol and English is the only language all of us speak. When the cop showed up she said she didn’t see where the problem was and didn’t understand why we were being discriminated against but it was the owners decision and we were forced to leave. If the owner wanted someone else to rent the campsite besides us outsiders (as we were calledhe should have told us that before we set up our campers instead of making up a lie to kick us out. We even had several other campers in the park vouch for us that the situation was a total lie. VERY disappointed in how this campground (cliqueis managed and the owners lack of hospitality and ability to run his business properly!! I would rate this “business” as they call it lower than 1 star if all possible. Happy camping!😊
My husband and I stayed here for the first time this weekend and LOVED IT. We loved it so much we booked two more trips. Everyone we came across was very nice and helpful. They even gave a free breakfast for campers appreciation which was very nice. There were not tons of activities so if that is your cup of tea, look elsewhere - I personally was happy about that. I could take my chair down to the beach and sit there with a book or take a nap and relax and unwind. We had the best neighbors to which is a plus, I believe we made some life long friends this weekend.Cant wait to go back and enjoy some more down time.Thank you all for making our first trip there wonderful.
Customer Service was 5 stars. Our rig was too large to fit on the Lakeside 1 lot so they moved us to Meadows 23.The area is very quiet. They do need to work on drainage or to put gravel down to fix the muddy low spots. I get it they dont control the weather, but I just hate that the tires and wheels get all muddy just backing in and pulling out one time. Without 4 wheel drive, I would have been in trouble.
Call them direct, we reserved with Reserve America and the site wasnt a good fit.
The person answering the telephone showed poor customer service skills when I called for information and reserving a spot for my RV. I called another park in the area and the reception I received was warm and inviting. Just because it is March and off season shouldnt mean customers should be treated as if we are putting you out.
I met a guy here by the name of J. He was the worst person Ive ever met in my entire life. He had 12 double chins, and every time he spoke, my ears bled. I had to leave in an ambulence, because this psycho pulled a gun on me! Anyway, enjoy your visit.
This place is amazing! Perfect spot for people looking for nature and relaxation. Camped with my kids (4 and 8and they were as happy as I. Swimming, playground, tons of grass and a loop to ride bikes and scooters. This is our new summer home. Staff was friendly and available at all hours! Cant wait to go back.
Worst camping experience of my life. Ive been camping dozens of times and this was the worst. Staff was rude and inconsiderate. There are other great camping sites in the area, stay at those.
Sylvan Lake was much more than I even expected. Check in was easy, they even offered bags of ice and wood, the staff was friendly and helpful. We had a beautiful spot overlooking the gorgeous beach front lake. At our campsite we had a picnic bench, fire pit and grill. They provide a good size camping ground for each section. I wish we would have been able to walk all the way around the lake but you can only get so far before hitting someone elses campsite or house trespassing sign. Overall a very fun relaxing experience. They even gave my car battery a boost when I decided it would be a good idea to charge my phone in the morning in my car. I cannot wait to go back to this perfect weekend getaway spot.
The old guy who says he is the owner is a real dick. We had reservations for camping, but because my 6 year old girl was a little under the weather our plan was to stay, build a campfire, eat, enjoy and then leave in the evening instead of spending the night. The owner said we cant do that. Left a little girl in tears. He could care less. Fortunately some quick thinking brought us to Fahnestock State Park where we had a wonderful afternoon and evening. Not to mention it did not cost us a penny. So suck it old man in the shack! I would not have bothered to post anything had it not impacted my little girl.
Beautiful lake and nice location but nasty female staff member .. followed us to the lake as we were about to fish as a family and jumps out rudely yelling "can I help you?" Confused, we said "no? Were camping here and just came to fish." And she says "can you move your car on the road?" We said sure no problem we didnt know cuz there are no signs and yesterday there were about 5 cars right here on the grass all afternoon. "Its grass." She says rudely. My husband sayss "were genuinely sorry no need to be rude well move.. if there were a sign we wouldnt have parked here." To which she says "ok ill go inside and make one just for you guys." Ha! Someone hasnt had their coffee today!! No need to be rude we are happy to oblige. Other than this weird encounter the place is great.
Wonderfully peaceful quiet campground. Zen like atmosphere is the perfect place to rejuvenate. If you are not into nature and relaxation you will not appreciate this campground. You want a wild party? Go someplace else. This will be too boring for you.
This was our first time at the Park. We loved it ! Easy back in sites. Some reviews say the hook ups were in the back. Well if you cant back in your RV then you shouldnt be driving it....they clearly tell you back in sites only.We spent two nights and wish we could stay longer. Peaceful clean and the lake is beautiful. Highly recommend this place. Also they were very accommodating with our early arrival.I used the bathroom, they were very clean !We will be back ! Thanks so much for everything !
We have been here for over a month and love it. It is so peaceful and everyone is so friendly and helpful. We feel so safe here that we dont bother locking our doors. The park, laundry rooms (2), & shower houses(2are clean and welcoming.
