Steak, seafood, ravioli & cocktails in a longtime destination with an unfussy, old-school style.
The prime rib is amazing and Danny was an absolute fantastic host. Will definitely stop by again when I’m in town.
Sorry I have to pull my 5 star my last couple meals have not been very good, tonight the ravioli was solid dough with spaghetti sauce on top, sorry that things are this bad I blame the guy in overall bibs and their meat is not local the best meat is from Franks meat house thats right here in Hudson cant justify the rawhide at svilars when buttery tender meat is available
Excellent Sarmas.... Great Atmosphere!Friendly service!
Kind of nostalgic, cool, and such well prepared food!
Hidden Treasure! I spend a lot of time in the western US…. Always looking for a great steak or prime rib. This place…. Middle of Wyoming…. Small town…. Does it right! My wife and I have eaten here twice in the last 3 weeks. Perfect every time. I had the Prime Rib, wife had the filet. Top notch all the way. We live in Denver, and I would make the 6 hour drive with friends to bring them to this steakhouse.
Best steak that Ive had in a long time! Staff are great and would definitely come back!
Amazing steaks and amazing history! One of if not the oldest steakhouse in Wyoming. Very highly suggest Svilars!
Do not order fried chicken. Not edible. Too much batter.
Food was excellent. Service was friendly and helpful
I and my family were treated rudely upon being seated. We waited for 30 minutes and were not greeted by a waitress or offered water. We left after Blaine told one of the waitresses not to wait on us. I will never go back there again!!
This place is an institution in Fremont county. Maybe the last piece of my grandfathers era still alive and breathing. Dinner comes with a pickle tray, salad (blue cheese dressingsarma, ravioli, and a steak large enough to kill you. And it finishes with ice cream. But the real secret is the fried chicken. Its truly unique and served with honey (?!?And its amazing. Svilars is a national treasure. May it never change.
The food is amazing! The sea food at "Market" price was outrageous. The interior decor isnt up to date.... but like I said, the food was amazing
ugh some of the best steaks in the county!! and the lobster and crab legs are so delicious, 17.oz steaks are huge! and always cooked perfectly the bar has some pretty good selections of beer. The staff is very friendly and attentive :)
Seemed like a nice place but our fire department went there along with others and it was over two hours till we got our food, only part of our table got our drinks and finally were able to get the rest of the drinks like an hour later. We finally got our food and it was ok but not exceptional. I dont know if they were short staffed that night or what but there were other parties saying they were waiting 2 plus hours as well.
This was the absolute worst dinning experience I have had in my life if I could give negative stars I would! Not only were we seated over an hour later than our reservation but people who had various other sized parties with reservation after ours were seated before my party of four. They cater to people they know and it is very obvious. Then the OWNER is beyond rude. Had an attitude when we told her the issues we had. Our food wasn’t prepared right, food was left out, and then when the owner was confronted she tried to take ONE OF OUR MEALS that we took to go because “she paid for it.” She also took it upon her self to open our take out boxes and look at the food and tell us “it looks edible to me” We had to take our food to go after being there over 3 hours because we were already late for other evening plans due to their lack of service. I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to my worst enemy. There were several other parties at this establishment with much similar if not worse experiences than us. We will never be back.
Went with a big group. Do not recommend at all. They said get ur drinks at the bar when u need them. So I go n ask for a Pepsi at the bar. The bartender said I need ur Id if ur going to be by the bar. I said for a Pepsi really. I Had to go sit back down. Then tell the waitress about 5 times I would like a Pepsi. The bartender pours a Pepsi in a little cup. Has someone in my group bring it to me. Like dude I was 21 way long time ago. N tf do I get a little kid cup. Asked for a refill in my stupid little cup. Waited an hour n a half for that refill. Going on two hours, still no food. In the meantime the waitress is with the busser moving a table. Asking ppl to duck coming thru. I don’t wanna complain to much but I think that’s not acceptable.
Liked this until prices got out of control, we paid $12 more per steak because beef prices have gone up. I will return when prices come back down.
The Ravioli was odd and the Sarma wasnt very good, I had a Filet Mignon and it was pretty bland, cooked perfectly but lacked flavor, especially for $50.
The staff was phenomenal! And our food was delicious! Prices were a bit high, but staek prices are rising at all local restaurants , so it was understandable.
Service great! Thanks Danny! Food delicious!! Blaine you are a great manager! So happy to see a full staff and people enjoying their work!! Make your reservations as it is busy!! Thank you to my Buddy Niki for treating me!! Oh yeah, they sell homemade blue cheese dressing! Yummy!!
Shrimp drips grease , fry also, weve been coming there for many years. I forgot the rolls were hard and flat. We truly disappointed. It was the worst meal we ever had there.
Great food and friendly wait staff. A place I observed apparently loved by the locals. On my go to list when I once again find myself passing through the area. Which by the way is beautiful.
This was probably one of the best meals Ive had in years. Love the ambiance, reminds me of when I used to come here as a kid. Very dark/cosy, with a very vintage feel to the whole place. Expensive but was worth it!
Weve been in the area for a week and this is the best meal hands down. You want a Wyoming steak? Youve got to stop here. Staff was excellent and food amazing. This little gem gets busy so get there upon opening or make reservations.
We have spent the last couple weeks roaming around Wyoming. Trying to find good steak or ribs. We found it at your establishment. Great food and wonderful service. If you go make sure that you are hungry.
The prime rib was good, nice and tender prepared medium, but the menu price was mis-represented by $9 when I got the actual bill. Ive seen menu prices differ by a couple of dollars before when no-one gets around to updating the prices, but Ive never seen that much. The service was good (at least for meconsidering there seemed to be only one waitress for the whole restaurant and the place filled up quickly after I got there at 6:00 on a Tuesday. The lady who seemed to be either the manager or the owner was taking some drink orders, a girl was bringing out vegetable trays and taking care of the checks but I cant recall seeing anyone run plates of food to the tables besides the one waitress. A large private party was seated in a room off the main dining area and they started poking their heads out the door to see if anyone was going to take their food order. Seems like the poor waitress was overworked and the duties could be spread a little more evenly across the available staff. Overall, the food and service were good, but Ive had better prime rib that didnt cost anywhere near $40.95. Would rate 5 stars but for the large discrepancy in prices.
Its been at least two decades since I was last at Svilars but the food was great, the atmosphere authentic and charming, and the staff couldnt have been better!! Definitely did not disappoint and so happy the restaurant is still in their family and has continued tradition ❤ My 20-year old cant wait to get back again to share the experience with her boyfriend!
We enjoyed the warm hospitality of Danny, one of the owners. He treated us like family. His grandmother started this popular place 80 years ago. Dont be fooled by its location, in a tiny town. The inside is vintage luxe.We enjoyed prime rib, HUGE filet mignon, so tender you could cut it with a spoon, and fried shrimp that had the perfect, delicate batter. It tasted like 🦞! Pre-dinner courses are included, delicious and unique. You will love this place!
We have been coming here for years. Wife always does her birthday dinner at Svilars. Was not sure what to expect this year, but it was wonderful as always. I love the entire experience.
The food was excellent. We had prime and lobster and t-bone and crab legs. Steaks were juicy and tender and a LOT of it. My guest said the lobster was great and I thoroughly enjoyed my crab legs. The atmosphere is what I remembered and my guest said it was a great place to eat. Had never been there. The waitress never asked us if we wanted another drink. I realize she was busy; but you need to be friendly to everyone at the table. You never know who’s paying the bill. Thus the four stars instead of five.
My husband used to go here when he lived in Shashoni. Hasnt been here for several years. We went last night and it was okay but the steaks were so tough our steak knives couldnt cut through them. (They were medium rare, not well doneThe waitress was good but super busy. It looked like she was the only one waiting on most of the place. Regular patrons got most of the attention while we sat with empty drinks and watched as regulars got refills and food beforehand us. My husband said hes definitely had better meals there. Was pretty expensive for the quality.
Tied for first class of the best steak I have ever had. Your service is the best and your food is amazing. If you go through Hudson Wy and not stop there it’s your loss. You will not go away hungry and their prices are very good for what you get. Will definitely be back.
This is absolutely the BEST restaurant that I have ever been! It has been around since 1912 and is still all family. The people there treat you like family and the atmosphere is reminiscent of a time where manners were prevalent. Thank you so much. My mother and I will Definitely be back. Danny, you all were great, Thank you. And any food critic in the world cannot call themselves a professional without having dined here. I am keeping the offer in mind. Be blessed.
They reopened and something happened in the meantime, and it was not for the better. Food was terrible. Waitress was rude and it took forever, which i mean isnt necessarily her fault but still, dont be rude about it. Should not be 2 hours from sitdown to finally paying. If youre going to spend 35$ on a steak, dont waste your money here. Wont be back, which is sad because there was a time going to Svilars for dinner was a special treat.
While our waitress was very polite, the food was absolute trash, the overall service of the business was terrible, the customer service offered by management was in my opinion unacceptable and I will never ever go back. Such a waist of my money and time with my family. It was extremely disappointing to say the least.
Made reservations, waited 15 minutes for your table. Then waited over an hour for our food. So reservation for 7 still no food by 835pm... waited till just before 9 for a frozen lobster tail over cooked and a un-seasoned steak wrapped in bacon. Awful mixed drinks too.
Your eating at a wonderful place in a small town population of 300 people. This is not the city the culture and experience is exactly how it was first meant to be. The history behind this place is amazing , orange 1970’sSeats to the coin drop cigarette machine , their tiny bar cups to their wonderful amazing steaks, shrimp and do not forget their cabbage rolls. No place or steak like it in the world ...
I really want to be more kind to this place but the overall experience was just not that great. Im not local so maybe my view point should be taken with a grain of salt if you live in the area. The exterior is rustic Wyoming looking which is charming. As you walk into the bar its the look you would expect. The dinning area needs an upgrade. I dont dock it points for that, the "ambiance" is not probably why folks eat here and I was fine with that. The service was very good. This review is post-Covid and they were trying to adapt. I will say everyone tried their hardest to do their best. Based on how hard they tried with no doubt limited staff Im sure in normal times they are awesome. So now the food. It was good. The salad was fair. Their blue cheese dressing is unique. A little too different for me but I could see how many could love it. Dinner is served with ravioli and cabbage rolls both of which left much to be desired. The steak was served with baked potato. The steak was solid. Seasoned well and cooked perfectly. But the potato was served over done and without dressings other than butter and sour cream. Price was a little high relative to the overall experience. I had a nice time but a little disappointing.
Wonderful place to eat at. Delicious t- bone steaks with baked potato, salad and condiments. Service was awesome. Interesting history and old pictures for atmosphere. Highly recommend it. And bar was great too.
So Happy our favorite Steak house Svilar’s is back open! The food is so yummy! The owner’s and there staff are just the nicest folks Ever! Our food was so delicious tonight’s in a row! See you all next week again. Got to get in my Svilar’s fix! Thanks so much for the awesome great time!👏👏👏
Cool atmosphere, the host was more worried about entertaining his friend! Waitress was excellent.Prime rib was under cooked asked for medium redleved medium rare, still good, but not what was asked for
Steak was big but bland and dry. Bleu cheese dressing was the highlight of the meal. Might go back just for that! Its always weird getting a can of soda at a restaurant. Baked potato was good.
The food is great and the portions are amazing, if you are a blue cheese lover then this is the place for you. The meals include a salad, a homemade ravioli, a sarma (beef cabbage roll), a dinner roll, and finally your steak and side. The food is always good and filling however the steaks always range in doneness depending on who is cooking. I usually order just under what I would prefer seeing as it usually is over cooked. Additionally some steaks can be very under seasoned. But in the end it is a great restaurant for the area with classic decor and very reasonable food.
Huge, perfectly cooked T-bone steaks! Veggie plate, sarma and ravioli are a nice appetizer, and the cheesecake is delicious!
The service was great, our waitress did everything she could to make our experience as good as possible, and the bartender was more than friendly and tried to improve our experience. However, our food was awful. My friend found a hair in her sauce and all of our steaks were overcooked and so greasy.
Good beef, tho not amazing. Their shrimp were quite delicious, perfectly prepared with their light lovely hone made breading.Having spent time in St. Louis, I found their ravioli bland. I skipped the cabbage rolls, but the report was that they too were bland.
Food is great but the service is awesome! Great group of people.
The steak hear is absolutely wonderful! I eat here whenever Im in the area. Service has always been great! Never had even a mediocre meal here all have been amazing!
Historical Ambience and Excellent Service, but the food just wasnt as good as Ive heard. My steak was half fat and not very good. I think some of it is because it hasnt changed much since the 50s. I would just improve the food as the 50s decor is way too cool.
Long standing institution for upscale dining in central Wyoming with a reputation for large portions and excellent quality. We have found it better to eat here on weeknights when the staff isnt as busy. The only complaint we ever have is that they are a little short on seasoning sometimes. Excellent home made blue cheese salad dressing though.
