Bullocks Ln, Sutton, Macclesfield SK11 0HE, Macclesfield
One-time manor and convent serving modern global food, with 7 dining areas, terraces and gardens.
We had been coming to Sutton Hall for many years, but had come to notice a failure to provide vegetarian options (one dish is not an option).During recent refurbishment we were assured that they were creating a splendid vegetarian and vegan menu. Yesterday evening there seemed to be only one vegetarian dish on the mains. Hardly a good business decision as there are ever more vegetarians and others who appreciate vegetarian food.We had intended to eat at Sutton Hall earlier but discovered Sutton Hall was closed for refurbishment so could not use our Meal Tickets. When we offered our Tickets yesterday evening they were declined, despite the fact that they were only 6 days past the original cut-off date - and refurbishment closure had lasted rather longer than that.A night to remember - but for the wrong reasons. Why would Sutton Hall want to lose long-term loyal customers? Why would we want to return?
Lovely setting and service always very good. Could do with maybe one or two more veggie options as its a bit limited really
What an amazing place! Beautiful building with lots of different rooms. Very friendly, helpful and efficient service and excellent food. Couldnt fault anything. Very enjoyable experience.
Fab atmosphere and excellent food! Staff always welcoming!
An absolutely wonderful pub. Slightly lacking in vegetarian options though, the nut roast is ok, and aubergine also ok.
Sunday brunch in front of a lovely fire after a long walk. Perfect food and service
Fab food fab atmosphere, me and my partner love it here!
Nice setting, variety of eating spaces in and out.Was very busy so account for that in deliveryFriendly staffI had proper chips with meal2 guests had friesWe all enjoyed food and i was fullNeed to know beers on offer. My shandy not brilliant but would have Been better if knew beersNo French mustard, grain was not nice should have gone yellowAll in all definitely would recommend
Crack a smile bar staff, it wont kill you. What killed me however, was paying Β£17 for a reheated chicken curry, with half a shop bought piece of bread (not even a naan). No offer of mango chutney or accompaniments etc. The curry comprises two congealed lumps of chicken chunks, no effort to even separate/stir this reheated effort. All this, and they ask for a tip at the bar while youre ordering, before its even received. Wont be going back.
Excellent food but small portions which means it is a tad on the expensive side. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
Friendly/helpful staff.Beautiful settingGreat beers and ciders. ππ»ππ»πWell worth a visit. π₯π
Went for a rare family meal last night remembering how good an establishment it was but last night was not good...felt rushed in....the menu was lacking in choice and didnt have what I wanted....the drinks order was forgotten as another table had ordered the exact same which is highly unlikely and a poor excuse Instead of we forgot..asked a waitress for some condiments which never came....the only time staff were on the ball was when it came to paying the bill...safe to say I wont return
Enjoyed afternoon tea in the courtyard,in the sun, following a funeral. The staff were very pleasant and the service was spot on and the afternoon tea delights were fabulous, definitely one of the better ones ive had in a long time!
Such a lovely pub, staff are really friendly and food is amazing. I would say make sure you book to save disappointment as they are always so busy which is good.
We went in a sunny day and sat on the veranda which is stunning. The menu is great with gluten free fish and chips getting our vote. They were delicious and we will certainly be back
Gorgeous food, gorgeous gardens. We ride here on bikes on the canal, right next to it, so nice
Date of visit: Monday afternoon, Aug 22.Fantastic building with nice garden.Food was great, a good 4, not quite 5.Dog friendlyWheelchair accessableParking was not a problemFriendly staffGood ale selectionBooking available on their website.
Lovely place inside and out. Sat outside for a drink and went indoors to eat. Dog friendly which was nice. Only think I would improve is more relaxing couches indoors to enjoy a drink. Very restaurant feel inside.
Lovely place to chill and enjoy the summer. All the staff were lovely. Food nice but I was expecting better! Average pub grub!
Service is great, staff are pleasant and helpful but we were a little underwhelmed by the food. Ill pick on the Sunday roasts as thats what I had, if you dont like very pink beef or fatty pork youre out of luck. But they were the only options either singularly or mixed.Again though, staff are lovely and very helpful
Lovely really old manor house pub restaurant. Beautiful inside and out! Great service, delicious well done food! Excellent beer and cider
Incredibly cozy decor on flower-adorned estate. Quirky rooms, helpful and efficient staff. Very good food. $15,000 espresso machine.
Great place. Friendly staff. Atmospheric. Wonderful food, nice sized portions.
My husband and I had a lovely meal at Sutton Hall last night. The staff and food were excellent. Would highly recommend and will be going there again very soon.
Beautiful countryside pub in a rural setting. Top quality food. A hidden gem, must see
Lovely country pub with an excellent Sunday roast menu, good value and great food. It was exceptional busy on the day we visited so service was a little slower than youd want but perfectly understandable under the circumstances, weve been before and we will go again.
Had lunch today with my 88 year old mum and 2 friends. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The food was amazing. 3 of us had the fishcakes which were delicious and our other friend had a steak sandwich and chips. Our plates were clean. I have an allergy to butter and cream and the lovely man who looked after our table had the chef Cook mine without those ingredients. We always enjoy our time at Sutton Hall. Thanks very much to you all.
We had lunch with 7 of our friends from the US, the food was excellent and the service was great. Our waitress was fabulous. Thank you.
Food was excellent and so tasty!! Staff were lovely and attentive.Lovely and cosy restaurant. Delicious warm meal after a nice long walk.Would love to visit when Iβm back in the Peak District!!
Sutton Hall has a great selection of beers, a fabulous beer garden that seems to stretch on for miles and all the character and warm friendly atmosphere one could want from a rural countryside pub and hotel.
Such a beautiful restaurant, the chicken pie was delicious and service just amazing! Hope to be back soon
Beautiful building in superb grounds with multiple rooms. Decent car park. Fine selection of all typea if deinks. Tasty food & a good sized outside terraces.
Great food and drink and served by what I believe to be one of the best in the industry - Tom. polite welcoming and couldnt help enough. Need more people like him. Will be back soon.
We turned up with no reservation and were made to feel welcome all the same. Wonderful service and wonderful food in a lovely location. Cant recommend highly enough!
A delightful old Yeoman farmers stead in a glorious setting. Lovely interior of wooden floors a original bar area and several separate eating areas. Good range on the menu and well cooked and presented. An exceptional country venue. ££.
Humiliating, insulting serviceWhile I understand that the establishment is concerned about making sure they do not serve allergens, I have never felt to humiliated by wait staff in my life. On entering they asked my partner if anyone had any allergies and he turned to me to see if I wanted to share mine and I told them βnothing that anyone needs to worry about.β The waitress then loudly insisted that I tell her what I am allergic to, in front of our party and the rest of the dining room. I have mild allergies to milk and egg whites which the dr has suggested I avoid if possible but that I can have small amounts as long as I am taking the prescribed medication to allow me to do so. I told the waitress that I was fine and would just order what I knew was suitable for me but she loudly insisted that I had to tell her exactly what I was allergic to, so I did. When I ordered she came back and told me that I wasnβt allowed what I had ordered as it had milk in. I told her that was fine and I would just leave the part I couldnβt have but she against insisted loudly that I wasnβt allowed it. Other customers were turning round and looking at me at this point and I was very embarrassed. When the server brought my food out he loudly announced to the room that he was bringing the allergy food.As a dr myself and a diabetic of 20+ years I am perfectly capable of looking after my own needs and will order from a menu accordingly. Had I told her that I had diabetes would my ordering have been further policed? The way I was treated was utterly humiliating. Having to share my private medical history with a stranger is absurd and while I can understand wait staff helping to advise about allergens, they absolutely must be trained to not leave people feeling the way that I did today. I could have cried I was that embarrassed. We will not be returning.
Great setting, and service, polite staff if I could pick one positive from this lockdown restrictions it is table service it is great the pubs and food outlets have to employ more staff ,that keeps people in work, served quicker and no standing at the bar jocking for position. I didnt eat as I had just eaten however my friend did and he enjoyed the food and I know that I can recommend the food. The building is very old and has an interesting history when it was renovated a few years ago no expense was spared, it is a listed building, theres a good size car park, one down side is the gazebos on the terrace spoil the look of the wonderful building, just a shame it is not possible to rent a room for a few days. Well done everyone
Very nice indeed....a favourite of ours.Weve been here quite a few times as my daughter lives locally. Its a wonderful large & historic old Hall and is situated in its own extensive and secluded grounds. The access is up a sweeping gravelled track from the lane & canal towpath. Ive only ever walked to it as the route along the canal from Macclesfield is wonderful. The exterior and interior of the Hall is very interesting to anyone like me who loves a bit of history. Theres lots of public rooms downstairs, all with their own character... expect copious original wooden floors, rugs, and old beams! The food is very good, and theres a fine choice of beers, wines etc. The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, and professional.Outside there is an extensive patio and good quality teak furniture. Kids and dogs are welcome inside and out. Theres aswing and a lovely old tractor for children, and plenty of lawn for running around.Book in advance to be sure of a place!
Visited on a Wednesday for lunch. Fantastic menu, drinks and setting..highly recommend and will return next time weβre in the UK
Happy well run establishment serving excellent fare. Prices reasonable. Great beer. Open fires. Lots of folk enjoying the atmosphere well spread out. Historic house so the floors can vary but wheelchair accessible.
Fantastic first visit. Excellent service, food was impeccable. Awesome choice on the menu. Can highly recommend. We will go again without a doubt.
A great Lunch with friends after we had all been for a long walk earlier. Friendly & helpful Staff. We shared Garlic Breads between us: lamb pie was excellent as was the ham egg & chips. A vegetarian Cheese sandwich was prepared for our vegetarian friend(not on the menu but provided with no fussalong with a steak sandwich & fries for me- we all enjoyed our meals. I had a chocolate brownie with ice cream & my friend the cherry tart - both very tasty. Beers - Directors was very enjoyable as was the Rose wine. An enjoyable visit.
Came here for a Sunday Roast. Lovely place. Sat outside. Place order at the bar. Food delicious- tender and fresh veg portions just right. Desserts yummy. Good selection all round. Friendly staff, child and dog friendly. Highly recommend. Good value for money.
Went here for a birthday celebration. Absolutely first class. Food was delicious and service was second to none. Socially distanced tables in the marquee; felt very safe. Thoroughly recommended!!
Excellent pub food! I had a great steak dinner here. Friends also enjoyed the salad and beef burger. The chips were outstanding. Desert was very good but not amazing. Service was excellent. The venue was very cute, an old manor hall with lots of antique furniture and pictures. Worth the visit, book on their website.
We were there on a Monday in January. Still it was quite lively. Lovely inside, very cosy with many little "rooms/spaces" to eat. Very dog friendly. Nice welcoming large fire place. We had a lovely meal, no boring pub food. Not cheap, reasonable. Cannot say anything about wine list. Was driving. Very good service.
You must visit this place. The most excellent food served with warm and friendly atmosphere, an old style charm, with a great selection of drinks avaliable. The building has so much history and charm, its worth it just for a little explore around.
Really nice. Good food and great service despite being busy. Nice little activity station for the kids, broad menu, good selection of beers, ales and wine. Wonderful quirky building with lots of alcoves and nooks. Great outdoor areas too
Took my grandad for his birthday. Staff were pleasant. The girl I spoke to said shed write that it was his birthday on the booking so hed get a candle in his dessert but he didnt but I didnt remind them either on the day so no big issue. Food was pretty nice. I had the lamb burger and brownie and grandad has sausage and mash and ice cream. Best part about it was the setting and decoration inside and the history sheet you can get from the table near the toilets.
Absolutely lovely. The food was exquisite. The photos online doesnt do the place justice. Very cosy feel, loads of variety in terms of decoration, our waitress was excellent also.
