A lovely pub on London Road in Stoke, offering a good choice of beer and with very friendly and attentive service. Strongly recommended!

Had a really wonderful stay here. The owners are really friendly and helpful, the room was lovely, and the kitchen for breakfast and dinner was perfect. As a little update for the owners themselves - I passed my exams, must’ve been due to the great few nights of sleep I got! Thank you 😊

Nice trad pub with pleasant hosts. Venue for trad pub games. First Monday of the month I go to folk music singaround at 8 pm. Can do Americana/ blues too.Downside is street parking. You have to hunt for a space.

Great hosts lovely room excellent night sleep. Definitely recommend this place and will stay again for sure.

Fantastic room let down by poor breakfast and dodgy area

A very pleasant 1 night stay to break up a journey to Knypersley cricket club for a game I was attending on a Sunday morning.A very comfortable spacious on suite room which included a very convenient help yourself continental breakfast in a kitchen you could use whatever it suited you and the pub downstairs served great pints of local Real Ale.The landlady Pauline and her partner whose name unfortunately I forget were very pleasant both of whom I enjoyed a good chat with as they worked on the bar.I will definitely use this place again when I require a nights stay in these parts

A beautiful community pub with an amazing b & b upstairs. Weekly entertainment, poker nights, darts team, quiz nights. Well worth a visit or even an over night stay.

Amazing! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We are staying in one of the rooms and they are immaculate and modern. I Will definitely be staying here again if Im ever in Stoke.

Stayed for one night whilst on my way to Manchester. The location was perfect and parking was easy.The room was spacious and very clean. The setup is very well thought out and has everything you need. Having the communal kitchen is really useful and again has everything you would need if you wanted to cook yourself some food. Although you are above a pub the noise in the room we were in was minimal. The keyless entry system is also a nice touch.Breakfast was continental and you could just help yourself which I personally really liked and it had everything you could want.I called the pub and the landlady was helpful and the room was cheaper booking it direct.I would definitely recommend this b&b

Myself and my partner stayed at The Sutherland Arms last week for a friends 40th as we both live out in Buxton. Hayley was brilliant and the room was lovely. Its a great, well organised, friendly business and we will certainly book again when needing to stay in the Stoke area. :)

Stayed one night and very impressed by the accommodation. Hayley has good taste and has applied it well to the rooms upstairs, while retaining the homely community feel of the pub downstairs. Everywhere, is clean and shining - old downstairs as well as new upstairs. Rooms are well soundproofed with excellent quality new windows, beautiful furnishings with crisp sheets and a most comfortable bed. Bathroom though small is modern and the shower excellent - easily controllable and top class fittings. She uses her technology capabilities most effectively from receipting payment, to effective wi-fi, good TV and security locks that have easy to remember numbers. Everything works well. Breakfast is well-planned and ample and the communal kitchen well equipped - or you can take it on a tray to eat in your room. We were delighted; and the price was very reasonable for such good quality. Thank you Hayley!

My first impression when I booked a room was positive as my welcome on arrival. The room gorgeous and so clean as is the case all through the place. Security really good and Hayley the manager extremely passionate leader her customer service sincere thank you

I cant recommend this pub enough. I stayed here on business on a week night and it was fantastic! Hayley was super friendly and helpful and made me feel at home. The room was comfortable and clean and the overall process very well thought out for access into the building after hours. The pub was quiet and the breakfast was great (which was a help yourself in a communal kitchen). I will definitely return when next in the area

Scrupulously clean rooms, the delightful & friendly landlady Hayley has thought of everything in this excellent, well run BnB. Great night’s sleep in a comfy bed. Good quality tea and coffee provided, plus a cute teddy friend sitting on the covers! Cheaper and much nicer than a faceless hotel.

Hayley was an excellent host and the bedroom was beautiful. Clean, cosy, roomy with a great atmosphere. Visited by myself and felt at home! Thank you. Nicky

Stayed here on Saturday after watching the football. Great pub with good selection of ales. The rooms were beautiful and spotlessly clean. Cant recommend it enough, we will definitely come again. The best thing are the lovely people who work there. Thanks Haley for a lovely stay.

This was our second stay with Hayley. The first time, we were cycling from Lands End to John OGroats and had such a comfortable night (with amazing shower!that when we signed up for Alton Towers Half, we booked the Sutherland Arms again. The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully decorated with really comfortable beds and lots of extra touches. We love the communal kitchen which allowed us to have breakfast as early as we liked and there was a great choice. Hayley is the perfect host and we would definitely stay again. Highly recommended 👌

Lovely Bed and Breakfast. Hayley was extremely helpful even assisting us with restaurant recommendations, reserving tables and booking taxis. The room was spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds. Will definitely stay here if visiting Alton Towers again !

A little gemStayed here over the weekend whilst visiting family.Not an area we are particularly familiar with so was pleasantly surprised to find this little gem . From the moment we walked into the pub itself we felt very welcomed - extremely friendly host and bar staff not to mention the locals. And the surprises didn’t stop there. Hayley showed us to our room which had been recently refurbished to a very high standard . Very large room with probably the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. Next time we visit family we will definitely stay here - no point looking anywhere else. Five star would definitely recommend. Thanks so much to Hayley and Tazz.

Excellent stay here. The room was clearly thoroughly cleaned and spotless, the facilities fantastic and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. If I pass through the area in the future, Ill be sure to stay here again!

What a little gem, great pub, friendly, professional hosts, good food and quality bed and breakfast accommodation, comfortable king size bed, spotless clean room, excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

We highly recommend booking bed and breakfast at the Sutherland Arms. The rooms and en suites are fitted out to the highest standards of quality and cleanliness. Access to a residents’ kitchen Is a great benefit and includes laundry facilities. The rooms and general premises feel extremely secure and free parking can easily found in the street nearby. The location is excellent for accessing the city centre, heritage sites, station and supermarkets. The standard of the continental breakfast was very good as is the range of ales and drinks at the bar. The landlord and landlady are extremely professional and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We would love to return to Stoke on Trent in the future and would definitely stay again at the Sutherland Arms.

An excellent little pub / hotel. The rooms are great, the hosts are very friendly and a great selection of ales in the bar. Could not ask for any more for an overnight stay after the game at the Bet365. Would definitely recommend to anyone else.

Me and my partner stayed here for the night before we visited Alton Towers, the room was so comfortable, clean and cosy, and with a shared kitchen area with essentials provided meal times couldnt be easier. Hayley and Dave are such lovely, friendly welcoming people, they gave us so much information and recommendations on the local area. The pub is a wonderful small friendly pub with lovely chatty staff and a great no swearing policy. It was wonderful to get to know Hauley and Dave and I can not wait to come visit again, a real home from home.

We arrived exhausted after a 18 mile walk. We were greeted with a free drink and then, later, blister plasters arrived in our room! Beautifully furnished room with everything we needed. Fantastic value for money. Thank you Hayley and Dave! 🤩👍

I have stayed for one night, and Im pleased and satisfied with the service. The room was very clean, tidy and the bed was comfy. The land lady was friendly, warm welcome and helpful.

Lovely and friendly atmosphere both from management and the regulars. Feels like youre meeting friends every time you go in. There is no tolerance for excessive use of bad language either which is refreshing and means Im happy to take my little ones in there on the odd occasion for a treat. Great selection of draft and hand pull beers and ciders and plenty of shelved spirits as well. Overall a great place to be and Hayley and Dave will forever have our custom!

Fantastic B&B rooms and facilities were first class. The pub is a family friendly pub serving a good selection of ales and lagers.the hosts could not do enough for us even running us to a local eatery one evening.

The B&B is more akin to a boutique hotel. Incredible attention to furnishings and that homely feeling. The pub downstairs is exceptionally well run. It’s evident that Hayley and Dave are tireless grafters who run the whole place with passion and vision. Kudos to the owners who clearly offer their support and own vision. The Sutherland Ale is delightful!

Lovely landlord very welcoming, down for few days holiday. Did curry and pint for only £5. Curry at first sight didnt look great however tasted so nice.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were made very welcome by Dave & Hayley from the minute we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble including checking local restaurants to find us somewhere to eat. The rooms are lovely, sparkling clean and a continental breakfast we could help ourselves to. Loved chatting to them and some of the locals over a "couple" of gins in the evening. Highly recommended. Stayed for3 nights room was lovely. The owners were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was good, everything you needed. Felt very safe with all covet rules and plenty of care taken. Great place to stay if you want a place to stay not far from alton towers would highly recommend.

Excellent quality of landlord and landlady along with brilliant real ales, which you should put on your list to visit for good ales. Bed and breakfast, you should see the rooms. Excellent, Excellent say know more get your arses around to this pub and ENJOY

Just left after a two night stay. Had a really lovely stay, room was excellent, very clean and comfortable. Nice bar downstairs and landlord and lady were lovely too.. made us feel very welcome!

Landlord is very rude to staff behind bar also his partner is very rude to the staff aswell. Think the womens name is hayley very creepy indeed follows guests around the pub. Not made to feel welcomed like I use to be by Chris Ellis and Deb Stringer. Cant fault the lad behind the bar called gaz very chatty and knowledgeable about the beers and excellent customer service from him. I will not be using the pub again which is a shame as I have been using the pub for the past 10 years. Like I say again the landlord is very rude and in your face with his 3 rules but sits on his bum drinking beer when suppose to be working as a landlord and swearing aswell. Thats not what a landlord does sitting getting drunk. Not the first landlord that you had working that has been getting hammered e.g Chris Ellis and now your new landlord and you wonder why your pub is empty all the time.

Couldnt give 0 stars so we we have to give you one, got greeted by a guy that stuck his hand in my face and was being very rude. Read the riot act and swifly asked to leave before we had chance to order my drink. The pub used to have a great atmosphere before landlord decided to bar everyone.

The Sutherland Arms is beautiful! Very spacious rooms, with a very modern en-suite. The communal kitchen has everything you need including a washer and tumble drying in case of those wet days. The continental breakfast is very good as well with the fridge full and lots of other items to choose from. It was my girlfriends birthday and Hayley & Dave bought her a bottle of wine, flowers and a cupcake, just showing how they are willing to go above and beyond for their customers. I would highly recommend the Sutherland Arms and we will 100% be staying there again.

I recently enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the Sutherland Arms. The rooms above the pub had been recently refurbished and were stylish, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Hayley and Dave were excellent, attentive hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. My only regret was that the bar was unable to open due to Covid 19 restrictions, which is a shame as Dave had gone to a lot of trouble in re-stocking the bar with a number of excellent real ales. If youre looking for accommodation in the area, then I would recommend The Sutherland Arms unreservedly.

Excellent, Hayley is an expert hostess, her communication skills are just superb from the day of booking, arrival and till the day of checking out. I liked their security too. We had an experience when me and my friend on our first night heard a scary noise, thinking there was someone inside and we texted Hayley and Dave there and there, within seconds they phoned us, reassured us by checking all the cameras , made sure we were settled. On our checking out day, my friend forgot her flask cup and when Hayley noticed it, soon she texted us and brought it to the place where we were training. I recommend anyone who visit Stoke-On-Trent to have a taste of Sutherland Arms.

Amazing place to stay! Would absolutely recommend without any hesitation.The owners Hayley and Dave was there to greet me. They messaged me before hand to introduce themselves and ask for any requirements.They are extremely friendly and there service was second to none!Hayley even took me to my training herself (Covid Safe Of Course- nothing was too much for them.The place is decorated and cleaned to an extremely high standard! My room was astonishing really! It was warm and cosy and felt very homely whilst modern. The room had all facilities you would need and more.The shared kitchen was frankly superb - there’s even a washer and dryer to use!Any resource I possibly needed was available to hand. Hayley and Dave have really thought of everything!I will certainly use and promote The Sutherland Arms to friends, family and colleagues.
