Sushi Maki in Mount Pearl

Amazing sushi, high quality, my husbands new favorite sushi spot.

The rolls were absolutely fresh and delicious. We ordered the Newfoundland, Sapporo, Crispy California and the Fantastic rolls. The chef, who was extremely friendly, made us a “surprise” roll not on the menu and accommodated our no shrimp (allergyon anything request. All were excellent and comparable to any high end sushi we’ve had in Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax and abroad. We were a little disappointed with the sushi pizza (ordered tuna), but the rolls and the service made up for it.

BEST SUSHI IN ST JOHNS. The place is really cozy and homey. Probably the best sushi I had in a while. The service was on point. Not to mention the owner was really sweet and friendly.100% recommend this place and definitely coming back!!

Super tastes, ample servings, and huge menu with friendly service. Would love more photos on the menu as Im a novice sushi fan.

Im not a real lover of sushi but do enjoy it on rare occasions. Tried this place today and enjoyed it very much. Food was great, service was outstanding. The owner really takes pride in his business.

This place doesn’t just have the most amazing sushi, but also has the kindest man working there. Every time I go back I feel welcomed and like a honoured guest. The sushi is definitely the best in the city and the spicy mayo is made in house and so delicious. The miso soup is also very good. Compared to other sushi spots in town, this place is my favourite and I will always be a loyal customer.

Im not sure who wrote the reviews here, but the sushi’s are not so great. Fish inside makis had a purple/greyish color, and a weird after-taste. Salmon on sushi pizza was cooked and the sauce was just bad. I’m very disappointed and I had a better experience at Nami Sushi. 2 stars because nigiri were ok.

Drove here from across town. Turns out you cant eat in the restaurant on Friday or Saturday evening. Must be updated in the hours, so frustrating.

Took my mom here for Mother’s Day, and was pleasantly surprised. Was greeted at the door by a very friendly owner. Sushi was delicious and prepared quickly. Between the exceptional service, low prices and great food…. I will definitely be back.10/10 recommend

Fast service, very tasty Maki and the first time having a sushi pizza that wasnt on a deep fried rice patty, and it tasted great! Highly recommend. Owner was friendly!

Oh! it was really yummy. When I first entered I was feeling abit awkward because there was noone there beside us but when we got our food we just ate!

I live in Vancouver so my sushi standards are spoiled. That being said this was pretty good, with fresh fish and good tools. And the owner/chef was very friendly. Would recommend!

My friend and I order maki all the time at sushi maki! We LOVE ordering his food. Its always fresh, always high quality, and the owner is just the most friendly person.I have ordered from here dozens of times and Ive never had a bad experience. If you order sushi, give them a try. You wont be disappointed.

I dont get a lot of good sushi back home as I live more inland, but this place really rocked it. I ordered the love boat for two and each piece was very flavorful and fresh. The man behind the counter seemed to be the only one working but he was excellent in fielding multiple orders and preparing each dish in a timely manner. Will be back!

Best Sushi in St Johns. The chef is a professional and makes excellent sushi at the right temperature. Have been impressed with every dish every time we have gone. Great atmosphere, not usually too crowded either. Would recommend.

Spicy salmon is a little different here, however was pleasantly surprised. The roll was missing the crumbs which I missed but I honestly loved how fresh it was.The restaurant is small but so cozy and great service. Will be returning

Love this place! I’ve tried other sushi restaurants and have to say this is in my opinion, hands down the best I’ve tried. The atmosphere is great, the owner is very kind and always welcoming, the pieces are big and the sushi has lots of flavor! Simply delicious! it’s become my go to place.

Great experience. The rolls were super tasty and price was right. Had the Philadelphia spicy tuna and spicy pepper rolls. The restaurant has an authentic feel, beautiful decor. Not much traffic in the restaurant, nice and quiet atmosphere. Will definitely be going back.

Sushi Maki does not disappoint with the veggie options.Miso soup and edamame to start followed by the spicy veggie sushi. AWESOMETheres never a crowd, the food and service are without fault. If you have not been,YOU SHOULD GO THERE.Its the ONLY sushi place in the west end of town. 👍👍

Sushi Maki is always a good idea. I love going here for some quick, delicious and cheap sushi. The owner is always very kind. Yesterday he suggested I try his hot pepper sushi and I was not dissapointed!

Might be some of the best sushi you can get in St. Johns. Peaceful little place with amazing service. Plating is also beautiful and fun. The rolls are delicious, well made, and fresh as they can get. The shrimp tempura in the red dragon roll wall the most crispy and delicious shimp tempura Ive ever had. Highly recommended.

We found this little gem when Simon requested sushi for his birthday dinner. Forgot to take pictures that night, but heres out takeout tonight, ready in 20min after ordering. The owner is super sweet,sushi artist, all the dishes are beautifully presented. If you love sushi please go here, it is the best sushi Ive had in any city!!

Its a small, one-man job, but its easily some of the best sushi I have had in St. Johns. The owner is kind, happy, funny, and a lovely dude, and the food is delicious and served perfectly. Can highly recommend!

Had a fantastic lunch here today. Everything was nicely presented, the quality was excellent, and the owner/server was very attentive and pleasant. Lots of things on the menu I’ll have to try next time. Great to have a sushi option in this part of town!

Great little spot run by a pretty interesting man who singlehandedly runs the place. Excellent, very personal service and fresh, great tasting food. Pretty different atmosphere even compared to the other sushi spots in town. All all, it was a very pleasant surprise!

Great sushi! Very tasty, colorful and well rolled. Miso soup was served a little too cool for our preference, but everything else was great. Liked the extra little bit of crispy batter on the shrimp in the dragon rolls. Wasabi had some nice oomph to it as well!

This is a newer sushi place, and I have to say I was impressed at its simple layout and cleanliness. I would say the rolls are a little more on the expensive side, but when they came out I was surprised at the size of one.They mostly focus on sushi, there isn’t a whole lot of anything else on the menu. Very interesting and unique rolls though. I have to say I was impressed with the Tokyo roll, red dragon roll, and the size of the sashimi pieces.

Excellent sushi, impeccable service! The man who served us went above and beyond to ensure we were enjoying our meal, and the atmosphere was unique in a way that no other place in town is. I would recommend this place to anyone, no questions asked!

Enjoyable little sushi place in the west end. Authentic, not too expensive. limited seating. Chef was also serving on the night I went. Tv was a bit loud. Otherwise lovely. Definitely give it a try.

The food is fantastic. The service is outstanding. You will want to go back. The tables and seating will suprise locals and add to the dining experience. Assuming the gentlemen looking after things and making the food is the owner...sir you have done a great job with this place. Like no other in St. Johns
