Sushi Kokku in San Luis Obispo

All the Sushi was pretty much all a California roll with different fish on top and the same sauce. Sushi was warm which was strange. We both felt a little ill right after eating.

The worst customer service ever. The guy at the counter had such a negative attitude and expression on his face. He got irritated when we asked some questions. He wouldnt even answer what their best seller for rolls are. He said they do not have. We couldnt take the negativity so we just walked out. He doesnt deserve to be working in hospitality at all. If the manager or owner wants to know who he is. We just left. Today is Saturday, February 26. We were there around at 5:20 PM.

Food is good and they are happy to make changes as needed (sauce on the side, hold this, add that, etc.Good prices and offer indoor, outdoor and take away dining. Rice/teriyaki bowls, noodle bowls, sushi.

I got the sushi combo. I get it that its a "deal plate" but it was disappointing. The fish was okay but the pieces themselves looked like leftover slices from real sashimi. Thin, inconsistent and not much flavor.

I know there’s one in pismo but when I get the chance and time I’d rather drive here. Always delicious. My favorite place ever.

Owner was very rude, I was just asking nicely something about our order and he got mad and started yelling. Wow..Im surprised by this kind of attitude and run a business. The sushi was not good at all! I think theyre pre made and not fresh, the rice was dry. Not coming back for sure!

Very bad experience. Poor service and very, very unclean. We watched the gentleman in front of us pay with a credit card which he handed to the cashier. The cashier then took our order and credit card by hand. My wife watched him make our sushi while never washing his hands. We almost walked out and not to eat our order. We did and watched the same man clean tables with a garbage can in one hand. This was happening and this guy didnt wash his hands one time. I am calling the health department. We are in an epidemic and the health of their customers doesnt seem to be a concern.

Best tasting sushi, tempura and noodles than the highest rated Japanese restaurant in SLO. Bravo, no reservations, no parking problems and no waiting for 40 + minutes to be served

Terrible service. If you ask questions about their menu even if there is no one behind you they are rude and impatient. They do not like answering questions and try to rush you while youre there. Ive been here several times because my fiance likes the food here, so this rating is based on several visits. The food is not the issue its customer service which needs improvement. They also failed to complete one of my orders and when I called for a refund (pick up orderthey were again rude said I would get a refund and proceeded not to give me my money back for the missing items.Again the food itself is not the issue as its pretty good. Food price is okay. Cleanliness is okay.

I used to love this place but I ate there this evening, ordered a rainbow roll and the fish on top was warm which made me wonder if it had been refrigerated at the correct temperature. The rice was warm as well so it could have been because if using warm rice to make the sushi. Either way it was very unappetizing and made me wonder if the fish was fresh. The person that took my order was a little rude and didnt get part of the order correct so I was waiting for an order of freshwater eel sushi as well that he insisted I never ordered. Not sure if I will be back.

I understand that the restaurant closes at 8pm but if youre calling in a order for pick up. The 1st thing they say is you can place an order only if youre going to be there in 10min. The guy on the other end is so rude. He has really bad customer service.

Huge rolls, decent flavor but fish is kind of mushy in texture and doesnt seem the freshest. But the vibe of the place is not high-end either, so I would say I got what I expected for the type of joint it is. A bit overpriced for not super quality, though pretty tasty rolls. Id come back if looking for quick sushi

This place is the poster child for a greedy restaurant. Just a year ago the food was much cheaper. 7$ for a chicken bowl, now 12$. California roll chicken bowl combo was 13$ now 20$. This is a low quality fast food sushi place that got greedy and I will not be going back. To each their own.

Excellent food as always. Huge fan of the crazy roll. With extra eel sauce, no charge. Plus the service was good as well. Brought or order to our table outside .

Just passing by in a road trip. It felt like a fast-food japanese restaurant. I would not make the list of my regularly visited restaurants. Though, it seemed to have quite enough clients. Food was OK not great.

Different part of the slow elitist places 25.00 for lunch for this was a bit much for One person still trying to get used to this style of food alas the people were friendly and thats half the good of any place

I was greeted by the rudest lady ever who wouldnt answer any of my questions and would walk away every 10 to 15 seconds and claim that she doesnt remember whats on the menu. Im not a huge complainer, nor do I like to interfere when anyones livelihood, but believe me when I say this; I wanted to go out of my way to make this bad review.

Most horrible sushi I have ever tried !!! Don’t order fish is not fresh and not have real fish in dragon roll! Waste of money ! U can find same price place but much more better sushi and rolls . Will never ever order from this place again !!! I am very dissapointed

The sushi rolls were very good and filling. The deep fried roll was so big and tasty. We have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed.

Our r Sushi was to go( ate it at the sunset drive inand it was killer. Only downer was we called it in and showed up in 30min like they told us. They didnt start our order till we showed up. Other wise hitem up.

I came in today to pick an order up and the first thing I saw was the ginger its clearly old and moldy this is unacceptable theres no way this was over looked a blind person could see this !!! I obviously took this back to complain and the lady whom I showed this too told me "that it was ok... just to take the bad part off because the rest was ok... I then told her that it wasnt ok for this tho be sold and that I wanted my money back and she still insisted that as long as I took the "bad part off I could eat it" that said thes only reason she no longer insisted that there was nothing wrong with the food and gave me a refund was because someone walked in to purchase food...

Ordered the teriyaki shrimp bowl yesterday. The shrimp was over-cooked and tough. They appeared to be previously cooked and reheated prior to serving. The cabbage was over-cooked and the teriyaki sauce was overly sweet and tasted as if it came from a bottle. The rice was gummy. I couldnt eat it. Just as well as the cook was not wearing a mask, and the gal packing the orders did not wear her mask over her nose. I asked the man at the counter why they are not properly masked and he said that it was too hot. And then he showed me his medical thermometer. I should have asked for a refund, but I was too shocked. I just left. Will not be back. Glad I didnt order sushi.

Korean lady doesnt understand any English. She put something in my bag that I didnt even order & charge me for it. I said something about it & she gave me attitude where she wanted me to keep it & not give me my difference back. She argued with me back & forth about it til she had no choice to refund the difference. Im so annoyed when people dont listen to you but blame you for wearing a mask that we all choose to wear.

The owners just delivered a bunch of chicken rice bowls to our neighborhood. They were Fantastic ! The chicken is so tender, with perfect sticky rice and this Delicous Sauce.The containers were Stuffedto the top! What a generous thing to do. These people are Top Notch. We will thanking them again and again.

Solid sushi, the quality is good and the portion sizes are more than adequate. Not your typical sushi place, you order at the counter from the very friendly staff but everything is brought out to you like normal. Never had a bad roll here!

Amazing captivated by the smells and presentation of their meals. I showed up for a meeting and did not intend on eating myself but ended up ordering food to go. Will definitely put this place on our top 5 list of local cuisine. Service was good also.

Portions were good . Service was decent . Sushi didnt set well with me after. Facility needed to be cleaned.

It is okay but nothing gourmet. I had to settle using a plastic fork because I couldnt stand the texture of the cheap wooden chopsticks. I was taken to lunch there by my cousin but I would go there by my own choice.

If you’re looking for large portions, this is your place.If you care about sushi with flavor and texture, look somewhere else. I’ve regularly had more flavorful sushi in Ohio. Very friendly staff, though!

Very good sushi roll restaurant. Fast and very friendly service you would expect from a family owned and operated business. This is one of three locations in the county and I have been impressed at all three.

Its a small local place. Its great and I love it. If you want a modern and possibly more coherent theme, go downtown, its over the bridge. The staff is considerate and kind, and always go the extra step to make it enjoyable.

The girl that usually works there is so nice and accommodating. And when she isn’t there, the people working are always welcoming.The food is consistent, yummy and well priced.

My husband actually ate here and got full, which never happens because hes so stupid picky. Awesome place to get food.

I am blown away by the reviews on here. After eating this food I came back to the page to check the reviews thinking, "I should have read the reviews first." Blow away by the GREAT reviews because I found the food seriously lacking in flavor. Japanese food is known to have great and powerful flavors, this just didnt. Very, VERY bland and disappointing. Portions were pretty good and price was just right. However, even with that, I will never go back. It was that bad. 😝

We were visiting SLO and decided to try this place... it did not disappoint! The sushi was delicious and the service was great! She even gave us an on the house grilled teriyaki salmon. Perfect for a quick bite to eat!

Service is horrible, the cashier was rude. The food was just mediocre and lack of variety. I guess you get what you pay for. Its cheap but not good. Wouldnt recommend, I prefer to pay a little more for better sushi and service.
