Super Buffet - Chinese restaurant in La Crosse, United States
For the price, it was superb. Would absolutely come here again.
Good food wide range of dishes had a great time. Would stop again.
Great food, dining room was a little warm but will definitely go back
$55 for a family of 4 (2 adults, 12 & 4year oldwith us all getting drinks. Hardly any selection of food and what was there was room temperature and could tell had been sitting there for a while. We went at 530/6 so you would think it would have been better stocked. Only item they filled while we were there was watermelon. Most food items didnt have labels and looked very sketchy. The dining room area was also very dirty. There was even long hairs in the self serve ice cream freezer. I had read reviews before we went and thought it cant be as bad as the reviews say, but I wish I had listened, so listen to me and find another place to eat. $50 will get you good food at almost anywhere else but here!!
I hadnt visited in a couple years due to moving residences, but the place has gotten even better! Delicious buffet with an updated dining area and ever-friendly staff.
Lets just say i can go to the local soup kitchen and make that look like a gormet meal compared to this place, the staff is nice dont get me wrong but the food is just terrible, i havent seen anything this bad, i think they need to rethink their menu and their kitchen staff. I think gordan ramsey needs to see this place and do his magic if this place ever wants to be busy and great as it used to be.
Typical selection of Chinese food. They have excellent white rice.
Probably being a tad generousWas not being fussy for dinner and walked in.Average food, at best.Nice wait staff.Selection at 6;30pm was average and was picked over, some looked like it had been out in the serving trays for some time.Next time in the area will be giving this a miss..
Ive gone to this restaurant for years, and they never disappointed me. Great people with friendliness and great food every time!
Restaurant was dirty, food had been sitting out for a long time, soups had thick films on them. Items were not labeled and those that were was hard to read. Food didnt taste as it should either. Will NOT be going back!
I have been to China over thirty times and this place is my favorite place for Chinese food In LaCrosse—- I see people are complaining about the bathrooms? But I am not eating in the bathrooms - Have you been in a bathroom in China?? Enjoy the food You can’t begin to make it for what it cost there — The owners and the food are great — I am glad they are in LaCrosse It bothers me that people do not realize how lucky they are that this place is here — this is real Chinese food - created in LaCrosse — not everything is great ? But that’s the way of life 👍
Totally not worth the time the food that was there was bland and tasteless. Aside from that there was very little sushi and what was there was terrible.
Do not recommend, first off we had to pay before we ate. That should’ve been the first clue to walk back out the door. Second we used the restroom, walk in and no lights pop on at all, I needed up using my phone light. Buffet was awful, food wasn’t warm nor did it taste good. No ice in the soda machine. We used to love coming here to eat. Sorry but will not return here.
Excellent place! This restaurant has really gone the extra mile for public health. Masks AND gloves are required at the buffet. Gloves are provided as well as disposable plates.Staff is super friendly and the food is excellent! Prices are reasonable. I fed nine adults (12 & upand one child drinks included for just under $100.
Got here at 645pm. There was hardly any food out. What was out was cold, hard as a rock, as in its been sitting out all day..... I understand covid hit everyone pretty hard. This, however is unacceptable for a business owner. Their bananas were rotten, even the pudding was becoming crusty. Their orange chicken tasted as though it had been sitting there a day too long. Absolutely, awful. The young girl working the counter was very rude, has no customer service skills. They now make you pay before you eat, I guess I would too if I put out food that awful. Ive been here so many time gave them so much business and each time it appears they are getting worse and worse. Please do your self a favor and do NOT eat here.
Best. Place around! This family owned business serves food of excellent quality and flavor! We love how they remodeled for social distancing, and created more privacy.
Only getting a star because I had to give one otherwise Id say 0 star. First clue should have been the sign about paying before entering. When I did get inside there were about 4 options for dinner and not much of that looked edible. In short I was a quick $60 to walk in seat ourselves look at the food available take a bite (literallyand that was staying too long. Wont be returning.
We had a very nice lunch at the Super Buffet today. So many safety precautions are in place...sheer curtains separating the booths, plastic gloves and disposable plates. Masks required. Plenty of choices including hot entrees, trays of fresh sushi, vegetables and divine desserts. Nice people.
Food was old and oily. Like they took old eggroles and doughnuts and redeepfried everything. We decided to try dessert... bad idea... cakes were old and the puddings were runny like they were watered down. Worst $20 I ever spent. I wouldnt even give it one star but I have to so I can leave a review. Bad bad bad....
The lighting was terrible, the food looked like its been sitting all day. My daughter got a waffle fry that could have been used as a weapon. I am going to wait until we are in a better situation with covid before I go back.
You can tell theyre suffering since what is put out is barely enough to feed just one person... most was dried up its so old but they did make fresh stuff when I asked. They did However sneak $6 on my bill when I asked for water but I considered it charity when I found out.
I ordered with Eatstreet delivery and it arrived promptly and hot. I had beef lo mein that was out of this world good. I think the buffet is just average, but this dish I ordered for delivery was so fresh and scrumptious! Definitely will order again.
Normally you can get seated well before two minutes have passed. I find that a few times the food may not be fresh even during hours when youd think that wouldnt be a problem. Its honestly a mixed bag when it comes to the food. Theres a wide variety of food here, just not always hot, and occasionally it may be TOO hot.Ive never had issues with the service though, always quick refills whenever your glass is empty. Another good point is that unlike most other local Chinese establishments (at least in my experiencethe check isnt given before youve had your first bite, which alone brought this from an average score of 3 to a respectable 4 out of 5.
0not very good, much of the food was luke warm, and did not look appealing. We went at an odd time of day. Have been there during supper hour and food was hot and looked more appetizing, that is why i gave them a three
Food was old and didnt taste good! The couple of times I have eaten there, I had similar experiences. Im also convinced that there wasnt a clean or sanitary surface in the whole building! Dont visit this restaurant, literally every other Chinese restaurant in town is way better! Worst $40 Ive spent on a "meal"!
I’m sorry but I will never go back. We go to la crosse for my sons 6th grade basketball Tournament. My friend and her family and my kids and I went there to eat. When we got there there was no food on the buffet so we got alittle bit of food waiting for the food to come out it’s like they didn’t want to bring anymore out. We were there for over 2 hrs so we could eat. Then one of the workers said to the other lady there is no way those boys are 11. First of all if my kid we older then 11 I would say he was. Sorry My son and my friends son are big boys and look older so for her to make that comment I was so mad. Needless to say I am a server and tip very well when I go out to eat but I didn’t leave anything and will never be back.
New/edited review. I used to like this place, but man have they gone downhill. Place is downright gross now, and the food isnt much better. Everything looked like it had been sitting out for way too long, especially since the food warmers appeared to be malfunctioning... The crawfish and a few other dishes were room temperature. Ill let the pictures do the rest of the talking here.
Went there this evening with my family at 6pm & the selection was less than even "OK". More than half the dishes looked like they had been sitting there since the morning. I picked through what was available and even still the food was gross. The crayfish were *cold*, the egg rolls chewy, crab ragoons were dried out, fried rice had an odd flavor almost musky. The little pudding type desserts had a tacky film over them. The chest freezer where the ice cream is stored was absolutely nasty. The sliding glass lids were crusted w/ice cream (I think?so dirty you couldnt much see the ice cream. We have been going there for years, so Im not sure what the deal was. The place has always smelled terrible & been a little dirty, but the food was decent. Now the food is no better than the building its in. We will not be going back there anytime soon, if ever.I do want to point out that we. We complained, they did take off one of the 3 meals. So, there was that.
Super Buffet is not so “super”. The food is stale and has not been replaced for a while, I took a small bite of the shrimp and it had a rotten egg smell to it. There was also some random garbage on the floor and the bathroom was dirty. There was mold, built up dust, or something weird in the paper towel dispenser. I also found a bug in my soup....Last time I came here, my experience was more satisfactory though, reading the reviews, it seems that the quality as gone down and I agree.
I come here with my family at least once a week. I have 3 kids and my husband and me. The total never comes out to more than $40! They love seeing the owner’s kids in the back playroom and they like the great selection of ice cream. The food, to say the least, is very very good. This is the only place we go to when we eat out.
Don’t waste your time or money eating here. This place is dirty. My shoes were sticking to the floor! Food was old and some was inedible. Old, hard noodles were just mixed in with fresh noodles. Batterrfried chicken bites hard as a rock there was fuzz on the sautéed green beans. I will not eat there again.
i would not even give this place one star. on the outside it looks run down and it’s hidden. the inside looks unclean and sketchy. i have been here before and since then the overall quality has gone down greatly. the restaurant was completely empty and it shows why. my party got our food and we didn’t even eat it because the food was so crusty, cold and old. we got up and left without taking a bite. it’s not worth paying for. i’m surprised they’re still in business. if you’re looking at reviews and see a good one i seriously hope you disregard it. i’m not one to write reviews and also i don’t want to be rude however i am extremely disappointed.
The place was cold~bathroom was disgusting. The food was so-so. They did not restock the steam tables with new food. If they ran out of something oh well. The ice cream scoops were disgusting. A person can only guess how long they sat in the same water. Hadnt been there for a couple of years. Not going back. Waste of money.
Do not come here. especially for lunch.so first off it was cold in the restaurant. As we went up for food there was no bowls for soup and we had to ask. Most of the food was cold. But worst of all it was greasy. im getting grease all over my phone as i writing this review cause its literally all over. how do you get greasy rice? we had to ask for fresh food and when we got the crab rangoon i couldnt eat it due to the grease.
Recently went here again after a trip around 4 years ago. It was pretty terrible this time. The only saving grace of the restaurant was that there was a pretty large selection on the buffet, and even some things you dont see in other typical Chinese buffets all the time. However, some of the food was very stale or cold and had been out on the buffet all day by the look and taste of it.Now for the service and what I saw inside the restaurant. There were two waitresses there and it took them almost five minutes to seat us even though there were only three tables occupied in the whole restaurant. There was no soap in the bathroom, and they looked very shabby and dirty. I observed the waitresses looking through the plates and cups located on the buffet for customers to use and overheard them talking about how this one or that one was still dirty and they were taking them back to be washed again. Many of the booths were filled with overflow boxes or papers from the back of the kitchen; it looked like they were storing things in the booths instead of the back of the restaurant. The whole place looked very shabby and dirty honestly. The container where they keep the ice cream scoops was filthy and looked like it hadnt been cleaned out in weeks. It was gross. When we tried to pay at the cash register, no one came to take our money. We waited over 10 minutes and then left the cash on the counter top. I hope they got it.Overall, I will probably never come here again. I would seriously be afraid to look in the back of the kitchen area and the service was super poor for the most part.
We hadnt been there in a long time after a few bad experiences. We decided to try it again. The only thing I really enjoyed were the Garlicky Clams .Egg Foo Yung was greasy and they dont do Sushi anymore. The worst though was the Children of Employees running around , making a mess at the Buffet and running into the Kitchen. Also our waitress was too busy with Kids to refill drinks and clear plates. We are debating a return trip.
The worst place to eat ever! They r so cheap no air conditioning, the tables r numbered with a pen and paper, they were not stocked on food i had to ask, i tried the mushrooms and chicken and got a plate full of mushrooms, they had a dish that was only broccoli and crab and mayo no spice or seasoning at all the General tau chicken was flat not spicy like it it suppose to be. No variety of food at all, and no bowl for the sweet and sour and the crab Rangoon had wayyyy to much onion. I will never eat there again and never ever recommending it.
Very miss leading name, you would think there would be several buffet islands but there were no more than usual and all the food was old and dried out. The staff while friendly were wholly ineffective. They were to busy in their own personal conversations to seat me. I went in hungry and I left hungry.
Not very clean. Food is your standard asian fare. Nothing specail to write home about. Most of the food is pretty greasy as well and and some is kinda dried out from sitting so long. It is ok if your looking for something in a rush. But I would highly sugest passing this one by and find another. I own a restraunt in Denver and woukd fire all my staff if my food was like this and place was as messy and dirty. Sorry owners of this resturant, but i have to be honest.
Our 1st time here. Every single thing I got is cold as is most of what the rest of my family got. Zero service...husbands STILL waiting for a refill w/no service to be seen. Fresh food was brought out and dumped on top of the old food. I was only able to literally eat not even a full bite of each food I took its so bad. Not a place I would recommend nor visit ever again.
I havent been to this buffet in close to a year because the food became sub par in taste and was always dry from being cooked under the heat lamps for hours (not fresh tonight I was pleasantly surprised!! The food was fresh, delicious and they put out fresh as needed. My favorite was the pot stickers that came out fresh. Ive never had better pot stickers
Not impressed. The aspect of this restaurant that made me nervous was the cleanliness. Dirty bathrooms, dirty walls, dirty floors. The buffet has a typical selection of Chinese buffet food and nothing different or special. The food is left out for too long which results in cold food and poor texture. Not once did I see fresh food from the kitchen being delivered to the buffet in the hour I was eating.I would not recommend people going here if they want a good meal and buffet experience.
I hate to give reviews, let alone one with such a low star count. Went today with my wife around 2:45. We were the only ones there as an older couple had just left. No refill the whole time we were there. The beef tips were good, but everything else felt stale at best.I never had to eat ice cream to make my moneys worth. Also was charged dinner prices before dinner hours - for the second time.Unacceptable. Would not likely go again anytime soon. Used to be a favorite of ours.Horrible experience. Save your money.
Not much meat in the dishes. The wontons had hardly any filling at all. Same for stuffed mushrooms and egg rolls. They have 3 buffet bars, but still doesnt feel like much of a selection of good food. Plus, it was over $10 for a Sunday at noon. I know another buffet that charges $7 for lunch and has way better food. For "super buffet" I think they may want to live up to their name someday.
I went for take out, I asked for 2 small boxes and it cost 21 dollars. I could not believe they do not charge by the pound. If the food would have been good I would not have wrote this review. Walking in the place stank like old fish. I had 1 To go with 3 egg rolls and 6 crab Rangoon and another Togo with general toes and noodles. The crab Rangoon were burnt and hard. The egg tools tasted burnt, the food just tasted all the same. For 21 dollars for food I tried to eat but then tossed out. Please do not eat here if your from out of town it was a horrible experience.
Food was great, lots to choose fromWent with a friend about a month and a half ago for the very first time for me. I was amazed at how many choices there were and those choices were all very authentic. There were also a lot of really great Dessert and Kids food Choices like Fries or Chicken Nuggets. We were there for about an hour it was so good. Definitely will be back!
The food was cold on 2 out of the 3 hot areas. All of the sauces were extremely thick and the chicken was just weird.I got some sushi that she made fresh. (I watched herthe cream cheese was warm, in fact the entire thing was warm and the taste was not good at all.My son tried some of the oysters and he stated that he didnt think they tasted right. He ended up throwing up before we left the restaurant.Needless to say, we will NOT being going back. If you have any decent taste buds, you wont even attempt this place!
The place is very run down and has a uninviting ghetto feel to it. Staff was very slow and about as unpersonable as you can get.The food on the buffet was so old that most of it was cooked to the bottom of the pans. Half the food was cold and the contrast between the old and new food in the pan was very apparent by the major differences in color and size. They advertised blue crab on sunday but only put out enough for one lady, who budged rudely in front of me, to fill her whole plate with every last piece and when i asked the staff if they were bringing out more i got a look as if she had no idea what i asked for.The ice cream looked as if they raided dairy queens dumpster and got buckets that had enough for one scoop left on sides and took it to their restaurant and put in their freezer.I glanced in the kitchen as the server came out of the back and i was absolutely grossed out by how dirty it looked and to see that no one in the back was wearing gloves, hats or aprons. The guy cutting chicken was sniffling and wiping his hands on his shirt... I couldnt eat another bite after that.Super buffet= super gross and never going back!
Always good food present and seems to be kept properly. Clean seating is always present, at least thus far. Sometimes a little slow on seating, depending on your hours of visit and how busy they are. Expect to spend around $11.00 per person with a beverage other than water. Overall rating for this small city area, 5 out of 5. Although, remember if you go there for Sushi you will probably be disappointed, especially if you are a fanatic about it. Personally, I do not eat sushi. So all the other spots in this restaurant are good!
This is by far the best Chinese buffet in town! There is a huge variety, and many of the items on the buffet you will not find in any other Chinese restaurants in town. Ive been there several times but after I came in last night and saw that they had Frogs Legs on the buffet (which were excellently done), I just had to write a review. I did not care for their sushi choices last evening, but normally I am never disappointed. I cannot say enough about this restaurant!
