On a sandy Atlantic Ocean beach in an area popular with tourists, this stylish hotel lies 19 km from Banjul International Airport. The warm rooms feature 4-poster beds with mosquito nets, as well as sitting areas, furnished balconies, Wi-Fi access and flat-screens. They also have minifridges, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Upgraded rooms add ocean views, and/or terraces with direct access to a shared pool.Amenities include 2 restaurants, a bar and a private beach area, along with an outdoor pool, a fitness centre and a spa. Activities such as yoga and water gymnastics are offered. Guests 16 and older are welcome.
Treat your staff like royalty, dignity and respect, you cant expect good service for low pay, not good conditions, benefits..Besides you must be able to pay for their uniforms..and change your management in the kitchen..You make big money on tourist and be cheap to your staff..You get what you give..Stop being greedy..
Nice location and hôtel...but i was there (_from Netherlandson à week-end ...the hotel ..Pool..restaurant were full of kids ..and babies....weird for an adult only place !!!!!!
Very dissatisfied with the service me and my friends received at Tamala lodge on the Sunday brunch. The place is set up for tourists (although is open to the general publicand disrespectful with Gambians. We had to leave because one of us did not want to use a “common” swimming costume for religion reasons.Discriminatory attitudes towards local people are unacceptable. 97% of the population in the Gambia is muslim, and even if it was lower, swimming policies should be flexible to welcome everyone, no matter their colour, race or religion.Furthermore when we asked for a complaint form we were given a blank paper…
This hotel is a disappointment, I made a reservation for pool view room. When I got to the hotel with my husband they informed us that the room we made a reservation for isn’t available and that they would “upgrade” us to a seaview room. We got in the room there was a water leakage under the ac, mosquitoes everywhere, no shower gel or soap in the bathroom, the beach sand was dirty and on top of it absolutely no privacy. There was literally a security guard sitting in front of our room that could see and hear everything we do. The receptionist in charge that night told us he knows we don’t like the room and he would switch us rooms in the morning. I went back in the morning and he wasn’t there and didn’t inform the people in charge, I had to explain all over again to the manager. He showed us other rooms to see if we would like to switch there but it was even worse, rooms that need to be painted or has issues here and there and he apologized and explained that it was because of that time of the season. Honestly, having been to so many hotels before I know enough to say that this hotel is not maintained well at all. The concept is nice but customer service zero. We ended up keeping the room and leaving the next day. I honestly will never refer this hotel to nobody.
Be prepared for zero customer service, mosquitos, damp walls, flies on the food, no water in your room, no working phone in your room, no airport pick-up
My Tamala experience was underwhelming..upon checking in I was barely greeted by the staff, then went into the room to no AC! The room was extremely hot. Had to call down to the lobby about 4 times before they sent someone in to fix it after 1 & 1/2 hours.Secondly the rooms were not the tidiest. Stained pillow Cases and the toilet seat had a brown stain, no matter how many times I cleaned it , it did not come off .. how hard can it be to replace a toilet seat ??The breakfast buffet was NOT A BUFFET. everyday was the same 5 options. (Oatmeal, potatoes, baked beans, eggs and fruit EVERY SINGLE DAY. No variety. Juices were warm too.Lastly , We booked this hotel to celebrate my birthday, I booked a photographer to come and take pictures of me & they denied him entry into my room stating that photographers aren’t welcomed to the property, when I asked the reason, the only answer they had was that it was their company policy with no explanation as to why !!! So I wasted my money booking a photographer for no reason and they did not have this policy anywhere on their site..They treat their non Gambian / African clientele way better than their Gambian ones.I’m very disappointed in their customer service and will not be coming back. I expected more. Staff need adequate training and rooms need to be maintained.
Very nice place just the food needs some improvement
If you want to use the pool as a non guest it costs 1000 dalasai per head. The door staff are rude and unwelcoming.
Stayed Dec 2021 for a week.Disgustingly bad, comically inept, dirty, cockroaches, broken furniture, peeling paint, bartender has NO IDEA how to make cocktails (warm orange juice with alcohol was offered as a "cocktail"), RACIST STAFF - we are interracial couple and wife had been subjected to "I dont want to serve *them*" by the waiter on duty on the MORNING OF THE FIRST DAY OF STAY.Had my room upgraded, twice, it was still awful, safe wasnt working, water would go off for half an hour randomly, sometimes when I was showering.Food choice was abysmal, all buffet items are kept warm BY DIRECT FLAME, instead of steam bath. By the end of 3 hour meal all items are dry, tasteless and awful like old leather, regardless of what the item had been originally (meat, fish, pasta, doesnt matter).Super close to beach and live band twice in a week were amazing. One gentleman waiter was amazing, really knew what he was doing and made an awesome tasting cocktail, after I complained about how his colleague bartender had been totally inept.Rest of the staff should seek employment outside of service industry.
Nice hôtel, hudge rooms, swimming pool, 2 restaurants, private beach.
Five star rating... This place is a home far from home, youre well comfortable when youre in Tamala
I stayed on a business trip but I hope to return to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and sunset views.
We all have our own experiences, the hotel dose its best to please their clients. Beautiful hotel and friendly staffs! Especially the receptionists
I had a great time and was impressed to see Youtuber Wode Maya stayong their. He has done alot to bring African Countries in a positive spotlight.Well done Sir
The pools near the apartments looked great with the colorful lights, definitely a great place near the beach for a bonfire.
One of the best hotels in Gambia if not the best now. Their services are great with with lively environments. Sundays are exceptional great experience with their live band and lively entertainment and pool services. Highly recommended if you want to experience joy and happiness as well as relaxation. Giving u a great view of the sea and nature.
Food was unappealing and very repetitive.Locals came in every afternoon and took over the pool area, pushing out the all inclusive guests. The service left a lot to be desired.
Probably the most modern, beautiful hotel in the whole of Gambia. The modern design makes it standout from all the other hotels. The rooms are are the best and my favourite spot is the pool area. Nice spot to take pictures during the day. On the other side, breakfast at Tamala is the best. The vast varieties of different foods including local Gambian dishes makes it a unique experience. So far, its the only Sunprime hotel in The Gambia with the best of services and products for different types of customers. I would recommend Tamala to anyone to for breathtaking view, the luxury and the food coupled with a quality customer service.
Excellent resort, friendly staff, good food, clean pools and plenty of seating. The rooms are nice as well with good showers and air conditioning. Great breakfast buffet each morning (do not bother doing the all inclusive, you can order whatever you want for cheaper). Stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed each one.Only downsides are potentially the abundance of mosquitoes in the rooms. I would advise to bring bug spray.
Do not stay!!! We had a horrible experience with Tamala. Electricity problems and stolen property.First, the electricity was going on and off on our last night. Second and most disheartening, we mistakenly left our tablet on the bed in our room when we checked out and it was never found, we are certain that we left it there. Someone from the staff clearly took the tablet and switched it off right away, hence untraceable with our tracker. Mind you, we called several times/days and they told us that housekeeping did not find anything and that was it - no explanation or accountability; We emailed and no response. We are very disappointed given we paid $400 at this hotel (very expensive for a Gambian hoteland our property was stolen. Be mindful.
Absolutely loved my stay here. Staff were great and friendly. Coming from London where everything is fast paced. It can seem like service is slow. But they are very attentive. Breakfast was included in my stay and was yummy and had a good selection of foods to choose from. The beach bar and restaurant had a great selection of foods and was tasty. I would recommend staying here. I would definitely come back here.
Very nice place, however the room service not so good. The tv and phone in my room never worked
The truth about this hotel is that it is always polluting the environment with its waste water from the toilet side and the rest of it water usage side ... At night its unbelievable with the bad order from the wastewater which is be offload from them and it can cause serious health problems to you and I...... So lets all watch out how some hotels operate, they pretend to operate in the best interest the people of the community and the country at large or the guest No, its only in the best interest themselves and it sim as if the management have no clue about it, So watch out Mr manager....... 😨😨😨😨
We have took here our dinner it was pleasant, the taste was good. The staff friendly and helpful.
One of the classic resort i have visited within the country... The accommodation are the best.. the pools close to the room doors are magnificent, the service are good, while the waiters are very humble and unique... Orders are given to you within a twinkle of an eye.You have the beach just right behind the bar
Absolutely beautiful and the best, relaxing holiday at Tamala resort! We have been treated superb by all the staff and are really sad to go! Food in all inclusive delicious, drinks we did not even have to ask for and were being brought to us, clean and tidy room, pool, grounds-all well looked after just as they look after guests 5⭐️Staff and resort! We’ll be back 🖤❤️🖤
Apart from staff quarrels without regards for customer presence. This place has great potential to be one of the best in Gambia. The restaurant manager (from Helsinkiis vastly experience with exceptional customer service. Not all the food in the menu may be available but you can trust the staff to choose for you.
Hotel is absolutely beautiful however a lot of improvements are needed . Firstly I always have to greet staff when entering the hotel, a small hello to guests goes a really long way. We checked in and then after a few mins the reception staff asked us to take a seat. No explanation nothing, after 10 mins we got up to ask what was happening and they said the rooms weren’t ready. Ok so tell us that then rather than us just sitting there in limbo ? Secondly we got to the room, no towels , no mosquito net , no shower gel, room wasn’t the cleanest either . Thirdly why was it eu plugs , Gambia uses the 3 plugs but this hotel has 2 European plugs?? Service at the restaurant and bar is awful. No staff acknowledgment , you can sit at the bar for 5-10 mins bar staff won’t even acknowledge you, until you scream and shout hello. Staff need to be retrained on customer service , beautiful hotel , but let down by basic customer service and staff and a real lack of organisation .
The hotel common grounds are beautiful and well maintained. However, the rooms are a little dated and full of bugs, especially mosquitoes. The staff sprayed our rooms with insecticide upon request, which was nice, but the problem persisted. The mosquitoes nets have holes in them and one of our rooms didnt have a net. The breakfast buffet has a variety of cold and hot dishes, but nothing extraordinary. The food served at lunch and dinner was fresh, but underwhelming in taste.
Beautiful place with beautiful pools. Top class for your relaxation.
How this resort has gotten such good reviews is beyond me. Maintenance is terrible - part of the door frame fell down when I first entered my room. Sheets had stains and towels had holes in them. The mosquito net was improperly prepared so there were bugs in the bed when I arrived. Breakfast was OK though (but nothing more), the only saving grace for me. TL:DR stay away, there are other hotels in a similar style in the area and I struggle to see how they could be worse.
Literally the best place to stay in Gambia, Grace from the sales team has been exceptional, the front desk has been amazing, huge room, massive balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. 100% the best place to stay in town.Apart from the security guys at the entrance Tamala just tick every box to be honest.
This place is a very nice resort, but I did not appreciate that they allowed any and anyone to come into the resort. I did not enjoy privacy In the pools because there were locals coming in and out especially on the weekends. The food was good, the drinks were even better because the bartender ( Modou was really really good at mixing drinks. Their check in and check put system needs to me addressed and also their staff need some training with customer service.
It is a nice place and they know how to attend to there customers you will like it there
Nice hotel with lovely ambience. The staffs were very courteous and helpful. The food was also superb.
This hotel is a very nice spot to stay while In Gambia! The rooms are majestic and food at the restaurant was VERY reasonable compared to USD! The beach areas is combing with local sellers...Watch it! they have different prices all over Gambia for Americans so they have this system.of "Monkey Business " where they expect you to haggle. Back to the hotel...They seem to give you the same waiter and cleaning staff throughout. I felt my stuff was well secured.!
Even though beautiful newly built hotel disappointed. Had a swim up pool with ocean view. Wind from sea made pool dirty all the time, didnt help that suction pump was broken, for whole week we stayed, so when pool guy cleaned in morning immediately collected debris. Swim ups facing pool side view seemed cleaner. Cleanliness was lacking though. Room floor and balcony on arrival dirty. Had to be asking for basic things to be looked at constantly i.e tv wasnt working, safe not set so could use on arrival immediately. No room instruction folder about services, it wouldve been helpful, as using remotes for tv was far from the norm when finally shown. The staff very courteous and tried best to assist. But staff lacking to pay attention to detail. For 4 star it was NOT worth the money paid. Wouldnt go back.
This hotel/resort puts The Gambia on a whole new level. From the time you enter the property, even before you reach the front lobby, the view of the massive pool and the sea is a precursor to what awaits. The style of the property is modern and purely African. This is Dubai in The Gambia!
Room was hot, and Air Condition was not working.. called reception 3-4 times to get it fixed or at the very least a change of rooms. But nothing. Don’t waste your money here.
This hotel is impressive from toment you enter through to the spacious modern bedrooms large walk in shower and private pools available in select room types and s beautiful centre piece swimming pool..The restaurant is limited in menus options but the staff guests and beschside location combine to make a truly memorable experience ..perfect for celebrations or holidays
A truly totally amazing place for relaxation.A beach hotel resort with amenities that make your stay memorable. Authentic African as well as modern.Great dishes from the restaurant. Well maintained pools. Clean and crisp.Definitely a place to go back to.
Great hotel with good location and pool access. Clean room and very nice design, a mix of local and modern art. They have entertainment some nights and a large breakfast buffe where you can order your eggs and pancakes. With its location on the beach and just next to some other restaurants it’s easy to relax and enjoy Africa. There are a lot of sellers on the beach but they are not aggressive. The hotel has security 24-7. I would book a room with pool access and facing the pool. The sun beds by the pool are absolutely amazing! The best I have ever used!
Absolutely outstanding holiday destination! We stayed here for 7 nights and wish we booked for 14 night. The rooms were exceptional and even more so we were lucky enough to have a swim up pool room looking right onto the beach. If you are looking for a 5* hotel for relaxation this is the place to stay.
Nice Hotel, perfect location, freindly and polite staff. The Only thing that i can complaint about is the food, booring and flavourless and it made us stomack ill, so my rekomendation is, go there but skip all inclusive and eat somwhere else.
Great location, beautiful hotel and rooms. A downside is the food, it is good but not many variation and just a few things to choose from...For these prices, you expect a proper buffet to choose from, this is not even a 3* hotel worthy...
gambia is great, the hotel isn’t..hotel looks great but everything is just not good.the women behind the bar are just disrespectful and they don’t give you the feeling that you’re welcome. however the men are the exact oppositthe food i mean come on it says it’s all inclusive yet you have to pay for 50% of the menu (food and drinkalso the buffet food is awful for a few exeptions. If there even is any food since they are out of food alot of times. there is just not enough food and drinks for everyone. the all inclusive does not make any sense. if you’re here and want to eat enough do not go here unless you’re a hyena that eats at 7 pm immediately. beach and pool is great it’s just the catering...
The hotel looked amazing. The staff where so friendly and helpful. It was a very peaceful place to stay.Or you can find Omar out front who would get you a taxi to town for the best night out ever!
Amazing hotel and staff. Couldnt of felt more welcome. We stayed All inclusive, food was really good as was the selection of drinks that were available
Very clean. staff excellent. prime location. safe in room is free. 10 min walk from shops. Resturant.Mini market on site. Rooms excellent. Only let down is full clear glass door into toilet. Only came back and b but. No problems with breakfast prices at hotel are on par with outside. Would come again.
Seating area around pool and beach very good All inclusive quite poor couldnt find the afternoon snacks although we asked all meals are good but a limited menu Service very slow sometimes staff would forget drinks order, cutlery difficult to find at meal times. However the staff and gambians we met were very friendly and courteous
