Sunnyside Inn and Suites in Portland
Description
I like staying here when I’m in Portland area. But there are some things I need to mention. There is usually7 only one small trash can. I need one in the bathroom and one in the bed area. Last time I stayed there was no hair dryer. One time I stayed and there was no phone in the room. Sometimes the fan in the bathroom doesn’t work. These are all small things and I know they are remodeling and trying to improve. I like the location and the comfort. I will continue to stay here.
MoreGreat place. The staff, from the front desk, to the housekeepers to the maintenance, on-site security-the women behind the scenes that run and manage that place...even the laundry lady are always friendly and willing to accommodate the needs of their guests. They are a very hands-on type of place . Highly recommended!
MoreFloor was very very dirty. Bathroom had less than a quarter of a roll and bathroom itself wasnt very clean. 2 queen beds were comfortable. The breakfast had a nice, quick selection of choices. The table top in the room wasnt even attached to the legs. Thats a dangerous tipping hazard. The separate toilet room smelled like cigarette smoke and a urinal.
MoreVery out dated room, was given a room at the end of the property. Get inside the room, no entry way light, I reach for the bathroom switch, didnt work. Had to walk across the room to plug in a floor lamp. Only to see debris on the floor like it hadnt been swept, hair on both beds, mold on the tub, burn marks on the counter in a non smoking room. Homely people just walking around the parking lot making it uncomfortable to walk to my room. Went to let the front desk know and she tried offer me a more cleaner updated room, why not just give me that room to begin with?! Better off at a motel 6. The hotel is located behind the hospital, its a dark road and the parking lot to the hotel isnt lit very well so couldnt even tell it if was ther place, it looked like apartment complex.
MoreClean room, pool was also clean. Breakfast was limited, but that seems to be the case everywhere post pandemic. A little disappointed that laundry was out of service for our entire 4 day stay. But room was fairly big with decent size fridge and working AC.
MoreI had originally booked the king jr suite but it was oversold. They called me the morning of my stay to let me know and automatically offered me the next best room for an amazing rate I did not have to fight for. The employees were all amazing and so sweet, I looked up what they are earning and it is not enough. The room itself was pretty beat up and the ac was loud however it was very clean! Really shows you how the people who work there can really hold up the place. The pool seemed well maintained and the breakfast was pretty minimal. Stars are purely based on guest service <3 I hope I get to check out the King Jr suite soon
MoreRoom was clean, cozy and pet friendly. Discovered in the am that my coffee maker was down and staff took care of it right away. Overall friendly staff, good location just outside of Portland. Perhaps a little bit too close to the highway for most but having been raised in a major city the noise of the morning traffic isnt too terrible for me. Had tenants in the rooms on either side of mine and unlike a lot of places I couldnt hear their TV or any noise through the wall. Would stay here again.
MoreThe front desk staff apologized for a previous stay of mine and made sure my stay pleasant. I appreciate that more then I can say. The room is really nice. The only thing is my tv remote wont do volume or power but they fixed that immediately. I am very happy with this property and its a great place for leisure or business.
MoreWhen choosing a room I factor cost vs. reviews. So I end up going with the cheapest decent hotel I can find. Sunnyside Inn and Suites is in a unique class as far as The Greater Portland area is concerned,. as there are numerous hotels that shouldnt be stayed at unless you dont value your life, property or dignity. This hotel has decent rooms. Upgrading a bit can help in the quality of room dept. Overall the rooms are acceptable, livable and somewhat comfortable. The staff has been pleasant in my two stays. It has also has been quiet but a.c. may play a part there but still no shady people in and out of the place kinda thing. The parking is pretty standard. No lack of spaces noted. The 1st floor is a little odd in that your room is halfway below parking lot level. So from the parking lot you are walking down to. This didnt bother me but worth noting. And I guess thats it!
MoreThis motel is not ADA compliant. You either need to use stairs to access the ADA room or walk a long trail. Neither a great option when you can’t walk. Further more the room was horrible. Holes in the wall. Bugs in the bathroom. Smells funky. Refused to refund me if I checked out so I ended up sleeping in my truck for 2 of the 3 nights. I won’t be returning and I hope this place just gets shut down so no one else has to deal with this. Lastly I could not even shower because the disability shower chair was stolen and they won’t be repurchasing one or so I was told. The tub was soft and I predict soon someone will fall through the floor in the tub ….. nightmare stay !
MoreJust ok, The pictures on the website are very very misleading. Bathroom clean with holes in walls and the shower curtain rod was falling off wall. I had to hold up curtain rod so my disabled husband could get in and out of shower. We are both disabled so having to hold up shower rod to get in and out shower is Not safe at all. We cant hold onto safety rails and shower rod at same time! We Requested ADA room but shower is not an ADA shower, its a tub shower combo, so getting in was super hard for low mobility people. Had to hike 2 buildings to unload car from ramp. Bed was super droopy and uncomfortable as heck, it hurt my back within 15 minutes. Bounced out of bed many times unfortunately. Remote control had no battery cover and I had to replace batteries because ours were dead. Also this was to be a non smoking property, but 5 minutes into our stay there were 2 people smoking on stairs in front of our door, 1 leaning on my door smoking and a guy hiding in the bushes next to my car. No smoking signs are litteraly every 2 feet. I have severe breathing issues and had to seek a non smoking property for a specific reason. Man $170.00 for 2 nights! I expect that the pictures and descriptions should to be correct. When I request a disabled room , I expect disabled options. Just dont expect much here. And watch out take photos of your confirmation because we confirmed at a lower amount and was charged more upon arrival. Definitely not another stay here if I needed.
MoreMy family and I experienced a Fire on Friday July 15th, 2022. The American Red Cross helped pay for lodging giving us funds to cover a three night stay. However, this motel was terrible. Horrible room, not comfortable whatsoever, floor falling apart.. toilet making terrible noises.. so we decided to check out and find something better as I have two small children. When I checked out I was told that they wouldn’t return the funds for the night we weren’t staying.. the hotel was aware of our situation with our fire.. how can they charge us for an night we weren’t there and we’d already been there two nights?? What a way to be supportive to the community and the people that help support their business.. I am completely appalled. What a way to screw people over in a terrible situation..
MoreWhen I first got to my room it was a disaster. Immediately after walking in I smelled wet dog and the floor was covered in dog hair. Attempted to givey kids a bath and realized there was no drain plug. The bathroom sink did not have a pipe hooked up and overflowed water.I went down to the front desk and explained the situation and was calm amd respectful to them. The manager and front desk employee Immediately offered a new room that was clean and did not have any of the above issues. The hotel is directly off of I205 which makes getting places easy. Dont expect this place to be some grand hotel because its not but for the price in an expensive place like the Portland metro area its what I would expect.Overall I was impressed with the staffs immediate sense of responsibility to remedy the issues and I was happy with my stay.
MoreThis is seriously not disability friendly. All the rooms have stair access except one unit. That unit has an approximately 30 degree ramp. Same for access to the pool. No walk in showers. The windows only have roll-up shades, no curtains, so a lot of light still comes in. Our toilet seat was very loose. Almost slid into the wall several times. I asked to have it fixed 3 times. Lastly, there was no deadbolt or slide chain lock for the door. Oh, which is key card. That had to be positioned just so to work. I only gave them one star just so I could get this here. It is actually more of a -1!
MoreFor the price and convinence to restaurants and shopping I was very Impressed. Not the newest hotel but very clean and the staff went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. The customer service was the best Ive experienced anywhere in the last few years for sure. Did not get a hot tub room as it was booked but I am excited to check that out soon, so I will be back. Look forward to my next stay .Thank you Sunnyside.!
MoreI would highly recommend the jacuzzi room! We were in town for the weekend and it was a very relaxing and nice space to come back to. The jacuzzi is large enough for two and the staff was quick to bring extra towels. The smoke detector battery needed to be replaced during our trip and was immediately taken care of. There is quick freeway access for touring around but you cannot hear any traffic noise. There was plenty of parking and food around.
MoreThe staff was very happy and polite. The room was super clean. There were towels folded into the shape of swans with a very nice card on the bed. The property looked clean and kept up.. The only thing wrong was the gas fireplace wouldnt come on. They sent someone as soon as we called. It is A very relaxing place. The price was super low for a room with a hot tub.
MoreStayed at the Sunnyside Inn for date night. We reserved a room with a jetted tub. The room had new paint and tile. The paint job was not done very well, you could see lots of mistakes that weren’t fixed. The room also had an odd smell to it. The fireplace was out of order, and the “jetted” tub had the jet nozzles, but no way to turn them on. The tub was also severely cracked (cosmetically). The bed had springs, but wasn’t necessarily uncomfortable. Overall was a decent stay, but nothing worth going out of your way for.
