Built in 1930, this garden features sculptures, lawn space & lily ponds amid lush landscaping.
Stunning gardens of colorful splendor! The artistry of landscape design. Well kept. Great place to take photos and take a peaceful walk. Bathrooms were clean.
A lovely garden to stroll through during the day or the evening. When you’re in the garden, you can’t even tell you’re at one of the busier intersections in Lincoln. Walking along the paths is quite enjoyable!
This is a really beautiful garden in Lincoln and a great place to spend a pleasant evening. Its free to visit but they have a small donation box. Parking is somewhat limited but it shouldnt be hard to find a spot nearby if needed. Definitely recommend visiting if in the area!
Very well maintained with Lucious flower plantings and intimate crushed rock garden paths up and down and patterns of color. Seems to be a favorite for families of young children and students wanting a place to relax. Busy intersection yields much traffic noise. Gazebo sculpture top is unique, and two other bronze statues add interest. A nice evening stop. Note: at 8 pm, Restrooms were locked.
If you havent been here during the flowering season, you MUST GO! This is one of Lincolns gems. The mastery of gardening is evident even to the uninitiated. The paths are an aromatic delight to walk. The koi ponds are soothing. There are docents there to talk about the gardens and the history. Dont let the curb view of this place fool you, theres a lot to see on the interior.
Wonderful gardens! Probably the best Ive seen. Late August it was very colorful. Lots of flowers.
Sooo gorgeous! It’s a nice well maintained area and just beautiful to walk through. A awesome little spot to visit if visiting !
This park is small but there is still lots to see and walk around. The front area features parking and the gate has some informational plaques that tell about those who helped with its renovations and tells a bit about the park too. It is kept up really nicely, weeded mostly and kept clean. The flowers were blooming and looked spectacular. There were also benches to sit down on spread throughout. It wasnt too busy although there were quite a lot of people there, lots of space so it wasnt crowded. I would recommend checking it out if you are in the area.
Came here for the first time for my 15th birthday pictures years ago. Now i still come by for a nice walk or even a mini picnic. The flowers are always well maintained and sitting by the koi pond is calming. Definitely recommend stopping here to enjoy the scenery.Different events go on here as well. One example is Art in the Park, where different local artists come display their creations for the public.
So beautiful. Well maintained. Kids love coming here.
Beautiful Gardens, nice place to get sun and shady spots to sit for awhile. Nice grass for grounding.
Good pit stop if you’re driving through Lincoln. Small but well manicured garden. Clean toilets. Dog friendly.
This is an amazing and magical place. Between the koi pond, waterfalls and the beautiful flowers and trees its a little piece of heaven. I would highly recommend going to visit and please dont forget to put a donation in the box. This is a real treasure in Lincoln.
I enjoy the layout of these gardens; the terraces, the architecture, and most of all the flora and fauna. I come from the East Coast and we have very beautiful gardens there and the Sunken Gardens in Lincoln represents a small portion of those back home to me. I take photos as often as I can of new and interesting things I find there. The only drawbacks are the enormous amount of hostas taking up residence and the lack of information provided for each type of plant. There are so many different species that could grow well where the hostas are planted, its a shame so much space is dedicated to them alone. There are many gorgeous flowers and plants despite the plethora of hostas and having placards that identify them would be a terrific way to engage peoples interest further in what the Gardens offer.Outside of those two things, I love to stroll along the pathways and gaze into the koi ponds. If I had more leisure time than I do currently, I would definitely spend much more of it here.
If you are in town it is worth a stop, you can cruise through the gardens or you can relax on the benches in the shade. I really enjoys the pond with big beautiful plants and koi
Gorgeous city garden. Free admission. Dogs on leash only. Lots of shade.Built in 1930 by the city to fight unemployment. Pretty cool Lincoln!!!
Sunken Gardens is absolutely beautiful and refreshing. My son loved running through the "maze" and seeing the fish in the lily pond.
They impress me every year. They plant a wide variety of plants and flowers to create a gorgeous and serene spot in the heart of Lincoln. If youre looking for one of the most beautiful places in town for a small wedding, this is it! I had mine there, and the photos turned out even better than I hoped.
Beautiful place to enjoy the flowers, statues, goldfish and colour
One of the best gardens anywhere in the Midwest. Truly beautiful.
What a wonderful gem of a park! Tucked in an out of the way corner, next to a road that obviously wasnt that busy when the garden was built in the 1930s, the main garden is a colorful array of flowers in a depression that helps to reduce the traffic noise. Sculptures, koi ponds, a waterfall all as to the landscape. But then there are a couple of hidden gardens around the edges that are worth lingering in. Theres also a bathroom! We spent nearly two hours there.
It was such a beautiful and breathe taking place!! Totally recommended going; also great picture taking spot!
Thought it would be bigger. Very well-tended gardens, koi ponds with beautiful water lilies, interesting artwork. Great gazebo.
Beautiful and calming, so much to look at and worth the visit. Flowers and a Coy pond background for Beautiful photos.
The Sunken Gardens were very well laid out (sunny areas, shady spots, and multiple benches throughout). I enjoyed the koi ponds in addition to the variety of plants. I do wish some of the plants had labels-there were some I wasnt familiar with. Its a very pretty spot, and at least three groups were having photos done. Even with all the people around, it feels remote despite being next to a busy street since the gardens are below grade.
Although its still late spring and the flowers hadnt bloomed yet, the area was still filled with people and worth a visit. Being new to the area I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this beautiful place! If you get a chance to visit and take in the tranquility of this amazing place, please do. It will diffently be worth the time.
Pretty place for a quick visit. Peaceful, lots of flowers even if it wasnt quite the right season.
Even though I went while they were still working on the garden. Im giving it 5*s because you can imagine how beautiful itll be in full bloom. I was still able to enjoy the statues in the garden.

This place was pretty. Unfortunately, we came a week or two too early and things were not grown in or blooming yet. But I had an exceptional time looking at the ducks and koi fish. The tulips were in full bloom, which was beautiful. Im really happy I came to do this. I graduate college this week and leave next week.I really recommend coming here and spending some time admiring the work that was put into this place.
This place never disappoints! So much work goes in to making it a lovely place. Year around. Spring is my favorite season, but I live out of town and fortunately missed the crocus, daffodils, and hyacinths. I was lucky to have caught my favorite flowers, tulips, still in bloom. Stop by if you are ever in the area and need a little nature lift.
This is one of my favorite places to come during the summer!! Very stress free and calming.
Great park. Its off a busier street but you dont really notice because you are sunk below it
My wife loves this place took her on a “tour” of Lincoln and it was probably her favorite spot. She wants me to propose here lol. We took our kids at a later date and they had fun and loved the koi fish in the 2 ponds.
Sunken Gardens in Lincoln Nebraska is not as big as the Sunken Gardens in Canada but very pretty 🌷🌹💐🌸 The Sunken Garden is free to visit, parking was easy to find. The garden is very peaceful with lots of beautiful flowers, fountains and ponds with koi fish 🐠 🐟
Small, beautiful garden. Its a wonderful way to kill time, as it is open for far longer than other nerby attractions. We visited during the fall (so unfortunately there were no flowers to seebut it was still a gorgeous place and I would recommend a quick visit regardless of season.
This is a beautiful small area near downtown of Lincoln Nebraska! I definitely recommend if you have an extra half an hour and are looking for somewhere to take your breath away!I do not recommend coming here during the fall or winter, as theyve taken out all of the flowers for winter. When coming in spring or summer it is a lovely place for photos!
Lovely gardens & 100% free!! Something great to do if youre between activities & need to kill some time.
The sunken gardens bring friends and neighbors together. Its a community place that really connects us. The beauty all around us is astounding! Every year the park satisfies the senses♡
What a beautiful walk to lots of pictures and identified many flora, the squirrels and fish were nice too very human friendly!
Beautifully designed and well maintained garden. It isnt huge but it several paths to give different views. It is clearly a popular place for photos.
An amazing place to see in Lincoln. Very nice koi and gold fish ponds, so many beautiful plants and flowers. Great walking trails. Very peaceful!
I love this garden. However I did find the nylon ropes strung around beds distracting from the beauty of the beds this year. This is a wonderful totally free place for all to enjoy, though.
Do not miss this hidden gem. Sunken Gardens – LincolnWOW! This place is unbelievable. It’s so pretty. Beautiful flowers of every kind and color. The perfect place for photos. There is a koi pond with lilies and fish. The waterfall near the steps is serene and calming. The upper level is more of a shade garden with several striking statues surrounded by flowers and greenery. It is free for all to enjoy. Don’t miss this hidden beauty in the middle of urban Lincoln. It’s FREE for all to enjoy! I highly recommend it.
A beautiful little garden, a cute hidden gem. Loved the koi and the waterfall was great incredible places for pictures.
The Sunken Gardens are truly a hidden gem. It’s so well taken care of and the dedication radiates from the flowers. I will say that it might be better in smaller groups so that you can stop and enjoy the flower beds and ponds.
Beautiful garden. Has a koi fish pond with water lilies, beautiful statues, smooth walkways and vegetation everywhere! Was a great place to stop during the heat. Dog-friendly.
Fun place. Lots of color and different flowers. Recall no charge. Not sure if donations accepted. Well kept. Clean. Easy access. Take some photos and share with the world and remember GO BIG RED!
Gorgeous free garden! The theme right now is "Ruby Slippers" and everything is blooming! There is parking off of 26th street but it can get busy. There are lots of paths to wander along to take in the ponds and plants. There are some areas with stairs but you can enjoy the area without using them too. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
A small, beautiful garden packed full of a variety of plants and flowers. Coi fish swim serenely in the lily ponds. Donations for continued maintenance re appreciated, but not required for entry. Limited parking in the lot (maybe 20 spots). Very close to the Zoo.
