Neighborhood hangout for salads, wraps & pizza plus plenty of beer in a relaxed setting with patio.
Not Lucky 13 bur still superb.
We came in after a family member funeral with a group of nearly 20 people. They were mildly panicked but we couldnt blame them with so many of us. They were soooo friendly and the service was great and the food was really good. We really enjoyed eating there and they didnt rush us out to clear up room. They truly were a great place to unwind and enjoy each others company. Plus we could have our dog out there with us!
Food is good..nice outdoor sitting area and dogs are welcome. Close place to walk from camels back Park.
You can oder food sitting out side with your dog. It was a very beautiful day to go there too.
The food is excellent but the night I was there the staff seemed uneasy and had something on their minds. Not sure whats happening there but hopefully things will work out because its a great place to take the family or meet friends
The food is excellent, the tap selections are awesome and service is phenomenal. Love the Sun Ray!
Good pizza, salads and soups! Soups change regularly and are delicious. Unfortunately the restaurant is only open for about 7 months...closing when the warm weather ends. Be sure to call ahead to see if they are open..
It’s a good place but it’s closed for the winter. Just walked by it tonight (1/15/22and there is a sign on the door.
Nice atmosphere and setting! Very friendly staff! I had a tasty Americano coffee ☕ it is recommended!!!
Their pizza is the best weve had in Boise. Spendy, but, its our occasional treat - and, fortunately, we are only a block away for pick up!
Rode our bikes there and had pizza and beer. Have nice seating areas inside and out. Be back the atmosphere and the beer and especially the pizza were good.
Solid place to grab a beer. Food was fine and relatively inexpensive. Would come back
Forever loyal to Sun Ray, a truly independent business that cares about neighborhood residents. Great beer selection. Best location. Love the outdoor seating arrangement.
After hiking or mountain biking we love this spot and so do @housewolvesofboise
Great patio and people watching, but $20 for nachos with pretty skant toppings?
Love that the outdoor seating accommodates dogs! Pizza was great and fast.
Wow! Stopped in today to pick up some North End Hyde Park merchandise, and I decided to get a Turkey Club to-go. Holy moly. That was the best sandwich Ive ever had. No exaggeration. The fries were cooked perfectly, and the bacon on the sandwich had the perfect crunch. Go check this place out. So delicious. Great service too.We will be back!
Used to be my favorite place in Hyde Park. Disappointed they decided to do away with their one domestic draft. Hard to believe they werent selling a lot of it when they were constantly selling out. When I voiced my disappointment to the manager he did not seem to care. It was basically an oh well. Not the best attitude to have when every small business in town is fighting for the patronage of those that are willing to go out during a pandemic. Very disappointed in the management!
Delicious food, and the house dressing was great. Everything was good and they even had pasta for the little ones
Why would you pack so many customers into your patio area during the caronavirus pandemic? No one was practicing social distancing or wearing a mask. Youve demonstrated that you only care about profits and not the health and safety of our community. Never giving you my business again. Shame on you!
Your quintessential summertime hangout-on-the-patio joint. Its almost two places in one. On one side is the grub; a small room with an order counter and a couple booths, but a pretty big patio. On the other side, via either a small hallway or around the corner on the patio, is the bar with more seating and more patio. The joint serves pizza and other items like wings and nachos. I dont think the food is all that spectacular or anything, but its otherwise pretty good, I guess. I come here more for the libations than I do the grub. They have a small wine selection and a few beers on tap and a full bar. Its a cool joint and a great place to grab a cold one at the end of your ride.
We went to Sun Ray Café for take out. We ordered two bowls of soup to go. One of the soups came with tortilla chips. First off they got the order wrong so we had to go back. Then they stacked the two soups on each other in the to-go bag. The bottom soup to-go container lid broke plunging the top soup into the bottom one on our 10 minute drive home. This caused the soup to spill everywhere in the bag. The chips are now soggy and the bag has fallen apart leaving a mess in my car. Really frustrated with this experience. Get it together!
Waited 55 minutes for a half sandwich and soup. Lunch special. The two other people with me only had to wait 30 minutes! Unacceptable at 11:30 am weekday lunch. Will not be going back.
Food was great. Staff was nice, one girl seemed a little stressed. They were busy and she seemed not to take it well. The cook was was cool. The mature lady was very nice.
I really like this place. It has plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas, and indoor seating with a bar. They offer a perfectly decent Cabernet and I love their salmon wrap. Friendly, courteous service.
It was friendly service nice atmosphere and the french fries were delicious but the garlic bacon burger was very dry and the gyro didnt cine with the sauce and was dry as well. Although the bacon on the hamburger was delicious.
Awesome pizza! Sandwiches also very good. Great atmosphere with lots of outdoor patio seating and very dog friendly.
I still miss Lucky 13. The location and atmosphere is better than the meal, but still recommend. Good place to meet up with friends for a beer and pizza.
Stopped in for Abeer on the patio on a hot day. Large patio kid and dog friendly. Beer could have been slightly colder since it was so hot out but was still good.
Ive been coming here for years. Its such a fun place to grab food and hang out on the patio. Full bar in the back. Beer and wine up front. Awesome, unique and delicious pizzas. Fantastic and fresh salads. They also, for us Glutards, offer the best gluten free pizza crust and hoagie roll by the Local company Gluten Free Galaxy!
The Sun Ray Cafe is still a favorite hip and groovy hang out for many in Boises hipper and groovier Hyde Park with splendid sandwiches, great pizza, also hearty delicious soup.
I like Sunray for lunch. Nice atmosphere. Good soup, sandwiches and salads. They have gluten free also. Good price.
I love this place. Best place to sit in the patio in Hyde Park!
Service is fast, The prices are very reasonable, Clarity is a wonderful hostess,The back room is very unique, outdoor seating is amazing in the summer and the French toast is delicious.
This is a good spot to sit and watch the activities of the Hyde Park neighborhood. One of, if not the biggest outdoor seating areas in th area. Havent eaten much there, but have enjoyed what I have had. They have an okay beer and wine selection and a full bar. There is a separate full bar in the, back as well.
The setting keeps me coming back, the food is great but nothing that stands out. The patio is a great spot to chill out and grab a beer.
Very good overall! Friendly staff, good pizza and probably the best gyro I have ever had. Great homemade cucumber tzatziki with delicious beef and lamb wrapped inside with greens, tomatoes and kalamata olives. The moon dipper had a homemade hummus, roated red tomatoes, feta cheese, cucumbers, kalamata olives, sprouts, roasted peppers and greens. The pizzas were both good, freshly made pies.
Awesome! I had the most amazing pastrami sandwich on a tasty gluten free hoagie, and the fries were delicious as well. Great service, food takes a little bit but definitely worth it. Ill definitely be back!!
It took forever for us to be served. All we ordered was a salad and a sandwich on a very slow late afternoon. When I finally went back to check in about our order, the host was a bit rude. Their summer salad was absolutely nothing special, too small, and overpriced.
Food was good for the price BUT the staff acted like a bunch of drunk college kids. Crassness and all. Will not be returning. Oh, to the owner the staff would like the drain behind the fridge to be fixed since it smells like @ss... just what you want to hear while eating.
They made me some cheese fries, just because I asked, and they were AMAZING! Hopefully, they will add them to the menu. Excellent service. Very friendly.
I love the location and I hope to buy a home down in that area sometime. If you havent visited the old town, AKA Hyde Park, or the North End, you have to! Its beautiful, charming, and overall heartwarming. But this review isnt about the neighborhood-- if it was it would have gotten a 5 star.Happy hour Sun-Thu 4-6 PM and 9pm-ClosedBreakfast is served only from 9-noon.I walked in and waited for someone to acknowledge that I was there. You have to look at the printed menu and then order at the counter like fast food. The wall says to ask about the daily special. It was midday and I asked what the special was. The person behind the counter said that he hasnt made one yet, but the attitude that I was provided seemed condescending. I was taken back.We ordered and sat down and waited for our food. We didnt wait long. The food was good. Nothing too amazing, but nothing to complain about. We got a biscuit and gravy and the gravy had a prominent flour taste, which is a breakfast turn off for me.The front area is limited in their seating, but there is more seating in the back. The front seating is limited, not ample for larger people, or wheelchairs, which may cause an issue for some.We ordered biscuit and gravy, which I mentioned above, and an Italian omelet and it was good food like I said, but a bit confusing when ordering. I am not too sure, but it seems to be a locally owned and operated establishment and for this, I can understand the daily special not being made yet, but...In a city full of 9s... you need to be a 10 (Ru Paul reference); therefore, Sun Ray Cafe doesnt scream come back (to me), but I will retuen one day and will update my review.
Cool place to come grab a bite to eat after a ride or walk in the foothills. The service is good but the food isnt the best. Its expensive for what you get, but its not bad for a once in a while visit. Lots of potential but has a long way to go.
Kind of a sad joke; waitress just asked me to pay prior to receiving my hard cider (sitting on the patio, enjoying Monday night football). This after the bartender brought me my first drink and only after handing it to me, did I pay for it. Weird.
Great place in a nice historic area. Theyre very nice breakfast on Sundays. Other people have noted that they have a really nice beer and bar selection.
Free, bottomless coffee with breakfast. Great price, great location. In the p.m., try the Greyhound Cocktail with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice.
Easily the best patio in Hyde Park with a decent, though not terribly innovative beer selection. The food, however, is pretty disappointing.
Nice shaded patio, nice people, good food but seriously guys, you need to figure out the long line ordering thing. It really will kill your business. Get a drink only line or better yet, get table service. You will sell more. I would have bought more...
Eight thumbs up for the pizza - fresh, hot, delicious, crisp, just the right amount of everything, Good selections, nice neighborhood atmosphere - four new customers who will be back!
Nice variety of food. I love the wraps and soups. The staff always remembers my name and I always feel welcome. Nice place to host affordable events in the back bar too.
