you get what you pay for, a place to rest that needs a little maintenance to receive the remaining stars.

i wish i had looked at reviews beforehand checking in. i had stayed in room 217 with three beds but one bed had a clear bed bug issue. i would wake up each morning with multiple bites and upon removing the sheets, bed bugs were found within the sides of the mattress. i referred to the lady at the front desk but she insisted there was no bugs and that the mattresses were perfectly clean. the mattress itself had a multitude of stains and was not clean in the slightest. the mattress also appeared to be older than the other two in that room. even despite requesting new sheets, the bites continued throughout my week there. due to this lack of action by the sun dek motel, myself and others who have slept on that bed are suffering with extreme skin irritation and swelling. i am incredibly unimpressed with the lack of action by the manager and will not be coming back.

Getting a smoking room was a win-win for me in that bad storm. Enjoyed my stay in that bad weather.

Terrible super dirty and BED BUGS as in huge bed bugs in the sheet, pillow cases. No room servive stayed for one week. No cleaning and changing linens. This has to be reported to AHS!!!

A very basic but quiet place to spend a night.Was happy with my stay.

The size of the room I got was bit smaller but it was clean and quiet place, I wish they offer breakfast too.

Room was a good size with microwave and above average size fridge. Beds were soft and super comfy.

Check in was fast and efficient. There was nothing fancy about the motel but a good value for the price. I would definitely stay here again.

INFESTED WITH BED BUGS. Nastiest motel Ive ever stayed in. I was eaten alive by bed bugs. Im covered bites. I found a bed bug under the bed bagged it and called health services.This place needs to be shut down. Shouldnt even get one star.

Super friendly. If you are traveling with dogs, you can be comfortable here, they are welcome. Older motel but clean and comfortable.

We were staying 1 room for a month and it was extremely cold in there. Then we moved to a different room and it was nice. We stayed in that room for 3 months. The only problem with that room was that it was too expensive. Then we moved to a third room,and this room was the worst of all. The toilet wasnt sitting properly because the floor under it was rotting away. We were told that it wasnt going to be fixed until the toilet fell through. In the corner by the door the was sort and little bugs, so we couldnt take your shoes off at the door,we had to take them off where the beds were. Finally we found out on place and moved out of there. Personally, I would not recommend anyone staying there

Have you noticed its the junkies leaving bad reviews, most likely because they were refused service due them being addicts ??My husband stays here a lot and has never seen a bug, a dirty room or has ever had a bad experience here. Its unfortunate that these addicts have to give Sonya and her hard working employees a hard time when all they are trying to do , is keep there business running during these difficult times.

I brought our crew to the motel and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. It’s got nice Renovated rooms and reasonable rates. Thanks from Hardy Boys Construction!

They need to decide if they are going to make a living providing low income housing or providing a place for travelers to stop. I suppose you can mix the two business models but it didnt work for us - we had a look around and left right away.

Owners very nice and room was fantastic, security person was wonderful and kind, great location as it’s next to one of the best burger places ever.

My family and I came for the weekend! We all had an amazing stay! Staff were super friendly and accommodating and the hospitality was amazing! Bathrooms were super speck clean!! And bedding was extremely comfortable. We will be coming back again!

My family and I took a pit stop in Medicine Hat for the night and decided to stay here. The place is wonderful given the price! The bathrooms were spotless and so was the room. Highly recommend, we would definitely stay here again.

Ive been traveling across the country and I finally found a place a single woman with pets can feel comfortable in. Bruce at the front desk makes you feel welcome and is always there to answer the phone. I got a clean smoking room, clean shower and my dogs are happy. Lots of parking out back if you are traveling with a big vehicle or towing something. Would absolutely come back.

You get what you get for $65.00 a night. Towels were too disgusting to use, cigarette burn marks on the tub and feetprints on the wall under the sink. Not the worst place Ive stayed... But close.

In the last month, I’ve stayed at many motels for the same price as this one. I’m honestly not picky when it comes to rooms, I mostly just care about cleanliness. The only good thing about this motel was the woman working at the front desk - she is the 2 stars I’ve given for this review. The rooms are disgusting here. The bedsheets had random hairs throughout them (I used one of their towels and slept on that), I was in a nonsmoking room but it smelt like cigarettes there was a used ashtray on the tv stand. The coffee pot was full and left in the bathroom sink. There were stains all over the carpets. The fridge had this weird sticky liquid on the handle and down the door. And the wifi is brutal, my phone could not stay connected. Highlyyy recommend you go to a motel further down the highway, you’ll find some for the same price and much better quality of stay.

What do you get for $ 60? You witness 2 men fighting just out side the main office and the police showing up short time later, the payment terminal did not accept my credit card but accepted my debit card. I did not want to put anything on my debit card, the FREE wi-fi did not work, the exhaust fan did not work in the bathroom. Some people were smoking out the rooms were watching me. I felt unsafe.

Horrible staff.. dirty rooms. Management is a mess the people who work there are extremely rude and nasty make sure to bring your own bedding before staying there. Full of meth heads and junkies not a family friendly place. Rates are terrible everything about this place is horrible. Avoid staying here

Someone needs to call health board. dirtiest place. base boards so dirty couldnt see what color. dirt and cob webs on wall. moldy musky smell . carpets so dirty had to keep shoes on. shower had lots of black mold. left after one day. people renting weekly offering cleaning supplies for mold. terrible.

I visited each of these places and found that ranchman was the best option for the value. So very nice South Korean couple that own the place the made was a hundred and 10% accommodating and super nice. My room was nice and clean and very big and spacious love the place and will return great price.

I understand it was a low cost budget motel but it was dirty, heat didnt work right cause it was either hot or cold. The list of kitchen stuff in the room was not complete. The smell of cannabis wafting around was interesting. The ice machine was broken. I went for breakfast but left when I noticed milk just sitting on counter and very little options. We prepaid for two weeks and our circumstance changed and we only needed the room for two nights and we were told we would not get any money back. The manager was pretty forward with us on that because we were given such a good deal. Will never be returning

Classic sun bleached motel. Our shower was broken, bathroom fan was broken, A/C was broken. All important things to a comfortable stay in a desert during the summer.That being said, the room was Clean and the motel was nice and quiet, even near the highway.

Room was mostly clean, some grungy stains on the blankets but I just ignored those. Breakfast was a little sad. No tea. ☹️ The shower had some insane pressure which was amazing. 10/10 would shower there again. But the room was pretty cheap so I cant complain too much.

The motel was dirty and there were holes in our room. The bed was lumpy and the pillows literally felt like you were just sleeping on a pillow case and nothing else. There was also a bright light shining into the room all night. What little sleep you could get, you woke you with an incredibly sore neck and burning eyes

We have stayed at Sun Dek motel in past but this time our stay was much more pleasant. Seems like the new owners have done many improvements. Our Room was renovated , beds were very comfortable. Great bang for your buck

*black bugs in the bed*VERY unprofessional when dealing with issues.We checked into the hotel at 11pm (front desk closes at 11:30pm), we went into the rooms. Everything was so so. Rooms were what rooms are at a MOTEL ! We were tired and exhausted (we drove all the way from Edmonton to Medicine Hat for the exhibition), I uncovered the bed and under the first bed cover appeared a medium sized (maybe size of a toe nailblack bug. I took it away, we changed the cover with the second queen size bed in the room. We went to bed and a couple of minutes later I opened my eyes and the same type of bug, just a little bit bigger sat near my head on my pillow. I got up to catch it and I saw a really big black one (I think that was already of the size of a cockroachwas sitting on my trousers! I caught the and my husband called the website we booked the motel from. They got the owner or manager on the phone and at about 1am he knocked on our door. We opened and he said in a REALLY unfriendly and rude way: "Where are the bugs?" I told him that we killed them and flushed them down the toilette (I didnt want to have them crawl all other my stuff and cause whatever diseases...). He screamed at me "I need to see them! I need to see them! There are no bugs!" I screamed back (because now I had lost my patiencethat we had to kill them and that now he is calling me a liar! My husband told him not to scream at his wife! Then one of the smaller bugs appeared climbing up and down the bed light! I pointed to it and the owner/manager said "Thats not a bug, thats a flying thing from outside!" I told him that it is an insect in my room and I dont want it in here or under the bed sheets or on my cloths! He now lost his temper completely and started screaming at me AGAIN that there are not bugs and so on and so on (calling me a liar againso my husband pushed him out the door. When they left a small black bug came crawling towards me under the door (there was a tiny little gap), I caught it AND suddenly also on the bed appeared two big fat black insects crawling towards me. At that moment my husband came back and he saw the bugs too, took a picture as a proof and we packed our belongings as fast as possible to get out of there.The owner/manager apologized that he screamed at me while we were repacking our car and asked me to not leave a bad review on Google, etc. and my husband told me in the car while we were driving to our new hotel that the owner/manager refunded his money (he had 3 rooms booked for the stampede)! That was ok and normal behaviour for a businessman, but we will NEVER book/"bug" there again...

While the SunDeck motel may not be new and fancy schmansy, it was clean and homey. The beds are incredibly comfortable, the rooms are roomy, and the people were wonderful and friendly. We had everything we needed and as far as the bang for your buck, I dont think anywhere else in Medicine Hat could compare. Super fancy with a super fancy price tag couldnt have given us more comfort than what we enjoyed at the Sun Deck.

STAY AWAY!!!! Attacked by bed bugs in room 123 on May 19, 2014. Front desk very dissmissive of issue at check out and did not offer any thing to try to make the situation any better. TV set broken and we had to clean the bathroom before we could even use it. Lots of loud drunks making it difficult to get any sleep. By far the absolute worst hotel weve ever stayed in. The room rate does not coincide with the quality of accommodation. Regardless of if they allow pets or not- This hotel is so run down it should be demolished.

One of the best motels you can find. Fantastic rate and the hotel staff is courteous and friendly.Very clean rooms and spotless bathrooms with 2 comfortable queen beds. Definitely would be one of my 1st choices if in Medicine Hat again
