Sufra Restaurant, Al Rainbow St 26, Amman, Jordan, Wādī as Sīr
Sufra Restaurant - Middle Eastern restaurant in Wādī as Sīr, Jordan
One of the best restaurants in Amman. The food, the ambiance is great. The garden looks beautiful, we could not sit though as it was a bit cold. They just need to improve the service.
We really wanted to love this restaurant. The atmosphere in the garden is lovely and the food is delicious. After reading the (olderreviews that said alcohol was not served, we were pleasantly surprised to be able to order a bottle of Jordanian red wine. The starters arrived quickly which was appreciated but unfortunately the mains were delivered way too soon (before we were even done with the starters), so it all felt much too hurried. The biggest disappointment was that once our plates were cleared, we were basically ignored for 30 minutes, no one asking if we wanted dessert or anything else. We then just flagged down the manager and asked for the bill. Was unfortunate as we were really looking forward to trying a local dessert but at that point were tired of sitting around and waiting…
A small piece of heaven, in the middest of Amman. The outside garden is amazingly beautiful and it gives a great ambiance of comfort. The food is delicious, and there is a variety of dishes to all tastes. The service is impeccable. This place can always exceed expectations.
Jordanian cuisine restaurant. Located in rainbow Street which you must visit when you’re in Amman. A big variety of mezeh selections. I really loved the old style decorations too. Well trained Friendly staff. Limited option of main dishes.
The repurposed villa and courtyard garden is a lovely setting to enjoy Jordanian food. It’s worth booking but there are lots of tables so you might get lucky if you just turn up.The food was delicious but the service was somewhat indifferent. There’s a QR code for menu access but we couldn’t get the page to load and had to go old school with physical menus. The restaurant serves alcohol.
Best Jordan food we could taste during our stay in Amman.Besides, the location on the famous “Rainbow street” is stunning, with its terrace in the back surrounded by trees and a fountain in the middle. On top of this the crew is professional and welcoming. Definitely recommend to stop by!
Gorgeous setting and lovely food and wine. We didn’t book but were able to get a table as only 2 of us. Recommend booking
A Jordanian restaurant serving Jordanian cuisine. Tried the Mansaf and it did not disappoint. We were seated outdoors in a garden in the back of the restaurant. The atmosphere was great and the services very friendly.
They make their own bread! You can taste the quality in the food like real garlic and extra virgin for olive oil. It’s the best Jordanian cuisine I’ve had so far. The ambience is also amazing especially on a cool fall evening. The restaurant is inside a traditional Jordanian home with a courtyard. It is a nice place to take foreign guests but expect to pay a lot more than other restaurants with local cuisine around 35-50JDs per person.
Sufra is hands down the best restaurant we ate at in Amman. There were a couple of close seconds but the service is excellent. Many of the traditional Jordan dishes are so much better here. And the ambiance is just simply awesome. Went there twice - first for dinner then back again for late lunch. Just amazing. Recommend reservations.
Great food and atmosphere. A bit pricy compared with local restaurants but totally worth it. Highly recommended
We arrived before they were busy for the evening and were lucky enough to be seated without a reservation. I would recommend a reservation though. The food was delicious. We ordered several smaller dishes to share, including a couple of desserts and we were not disappointed. They have a beautiful outdoor seating area with a fountain, perfect for cool nights. They have a good wine selection and a menu thats perfect for one person or a group. The staff was attentive, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. This restaurant is a must if you are in Jordan for any amount of time.
Excellent food, great ambiance and friendly staff
One of the most beautiful restaurants you will ever done at. The staff are superb! The food is incredible! The falafel was crunchy and soft the hummus decadent, and the lamb excellent
It was a nice experience. The place itself looks nice and is much larger than it looks on the outside. I recommend making a reservation because waiting lines were like 40min and it honestly didnt seem like it was a peak hour when we went. The waiters were nice, food was very good and the patio itself where we ate had a very nice vibe. There were some cats there that were trying to steal our food. Be careful with the cats, theyll take your food! They seemed like nice cats though haha.Would recommend to eat dinner there, maybe not lunch because its out in the open and itll be very hot during the day
We had our last dinner at this restaurant after 8 days in Jordan! The food was amazing but the service unfortunately not. We are a couple and hugged and kissed 2 times and after the first time the waiter brought us the bill although we did not ask for it yet without saying anything and then the second time they told us to leave because they were closing. When we saw still a lot of people dining we asked why and they told is the real reasons thar wrong had to respect jordaian culture and kissing is not allowed. We have not experienced that the entire trip so far and would have fully respected that if they would have told us in a nicer way but the communication was rude and sadly ruined our whole last night in Jordan. Working in hospitality and especially in a restaurant that is so famous among turists, they could have told us in a nice way and definitelt we would have applogised- instead they all started looking at us (only men waiters of course). A shame for such a nice food restaurant ...
Very nice place and location. Very good food. But 3 stars because of unhelpful staff. We asked for explanation of the menu and we were ignored. We asked for suggestions what to eat and the answer we got was just "all the menu". Not very friendly staff.
Amazing food, and the service was excellent! An oasis of calm and cool peace in this wonderful city. I recommend a selection of hot and cold meze, and the lemon mint frozen smoothie. We would come back to Amman just for this place!
Delicious food, great service (the staff brought me a jacket because I was freezing), the terrace is gorgeous in the evening. The mosks green illumination getting stronger with the setting sun. Big recommendation! :)
Lovely lunch here in a very tranquil setting in their garden. Every dish was lovely. The chef showed us how he baked flat breads in the oven. They were delicious and the best Ive ever tasted.
A lovely traditional restaurant with a magical garden. If you want to dine in the garden terrace, youll need to book it in advance (which I recommend), otherwise youll get seated inside, with a basic athmosphere. The staff is very friendly and hospitable, food is delicious, but the portions are smaller than at other restaurants. It was a pleasant experience. The only thing I suggest to the staff: Please put photos of meals in the menu, it is hard for foreigners who are unfamiliar with Jordanian cuisine to pick a meal based only on the meal name (which mostly consists of transcribed arabic). We encountered no-photo-menus everywhere across Jordan, which is a big minus for a tourism oriented country.
Incredible food, great service and beautiful setting.
Sufra is a nice restaurant located in a liberty villa (Im not surewith a garden and a bar. Lovely place. The food is not particularly excellent: we had a lentil soup with broken wheat, meat with tahini onions and potatoes, pastries with cheese and parsley; pistachio and rosemary ice cream with a kind of cotton candy. Nothing special. We paired the whole with two glasses of rosé: pretty good. The service was barely sufficient and not very warm compared to the Jordanian average. I didnt understand why we were the only ones who didnt offer coffee. To go there at least for the location.
Rich menu. Not the standard food you get in restaurants. It is home made like food and well done. Service is super. Quality has been high and consistent since 2012
SufraThis is a good choice if you are looking for a genuine place and a traditional selection of Jordanian dishes. One of the few restaurants where you will find the type of food usually made and served at typical Jordanian houses. This makes it an ideal place if you have foreign guests who ask to try local dishes. If you are going there on a summer night then make sure to reserve a table before you go and ask to be seated in the outdoor area. Nice ambience and a comfortable and reasonably spacious seating area. The staff is friendly and the service is prompt and you can ask for advice from the waiters on what and how many dishes to order. The food is light and rightly portioned so you will most probably have no or very little leftovers. If you wish to go for a light and tasty dessert then pick the pistachio ice cream. The place is easily accessed and has valet service. Expect to pay 25 JD per person.
I ordered 2 of the main dishes for the delivery and they were simply inedible. The taste was absolutely awful. One of the sauces tasted like the cardboard container it came in. No one in the family could eat any of it. Terrible flavors. Nothing like what the dishes are supposed to taste like. This place is only pretty to look at and that’s what they’re banking on.
Lovely place, great good, friendly staff
Sufra was such an amazing experience! I hadnt been to Jordan before (or the Middle East at alland we came here on my second night in town. The whole experience was so good. We sat outside in the late June night and the air was perfectly cool and comfortable, which provided an amazing backdrop for the great company, great food and well-tended hookah (or hubbly bubbly, as they mostly call it here). Im probably not the best judge of what is the most authentic Arabic food, but I do know good food in general and this was delicious! Also, my girlfriends family that took us there are all Palestinian and they really liked it as well.Ive seen a few reviewers that had complaints about the service; although most interactions were through my girlfriends Arabic-speaking family, I didnt witness any of those problems, the staff all seemed friendly and very prompt.
It was a nice beautiful gather of a semi formal work meeting ... food was good the waiters needed to focus a little bit more but they were excused because the restaurant was packed ... we had a good time and the general atmosphere was amazing.
Extremely enjoyable experience. The place/settings are awesome. The place is very authentic. Very good food taste and quality. One of my favorite.
We had the pleasure of visiting this Jordanian restaurant twice last week. Elegant, leafy courtyard on the outside, beautifully decorated space on the inside. The first night was a Saturday, and there was a lively crowd. The first waiter found us a seat in the courtyard, and then a second waiter saw us and told us we needed to limit our stay to an hour because they were busy. The food was incredible. Not a bad dish. Perfect hummus with aubergine, chicken livers, chicken with sumac. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive, and made us feel welcome. Because we weren’t familiar with Jordanian food. The red wine was a bit coarse, heavy in tannins and not the best compliment to our food. Still drinkable. We enjoyed the experience, and didn’t mind that it was more expensive than the average Amman restaurant. We came back two nights later. The second waiter (who limited our time to an hourhosted us, but insisted we sit alone, indoors, near the bread oven, on a hot day, and not on the terrace because there were no seats. (There seemed to be seats). We reviewed the menu, and were impressed that it had changed, implying the ingredients were fresh and the chef thoughtful. We asked for recommendations, and the waiter seemed taken aback, then gave us some food ideas. The trouble really began when we asked for a white wine suggestion. He named a Jordanian wine, and I agreed. He brought out a bottle, and the wine was red. We told him we asked for a white wine. He became visibly annoyed, and carried it off in a huff. Twenty minutes pass without food. He brings out Chardonnay, and pours it, apologizing. We rarely see him for the rest of our evening. He’s schmoozing well heeled locals. He ignores us when we wave for him. Food still delicious. I’d heard the knaffeh was great, so after much effort, we get his attention. I order the pastry. It doesn’t come for 35 minutes, and only when we ask for the bill. Altogether killed the mood of the evening.I was shocked by the difference in service over the two nights. Maybe he was having a bad night. Maybe the wine mistake embarrassed or angered him. I’m heavily tattooed, so perhaps he thought I wasn’t classy enough for his regulars. Whatever it was, the burden of having to figure out what drove his decision to give unkind service should not have been ours to carry. It was not consistent with the overall warm treatment I received from every other Jordanian met during our vacation. Perhaps the time limit he gave when he wasn’t serving us the first night was foreshadowing. Can I recommend this place? Perhaps, but your service may depend on your luck. We won’t get back to Jordan soon, but I wish this restaurant and both waiters well, and hope the restaurant works out their problems.
Amazing local food, and very good vibes and service. Good value for money, they also have beer and wine. 100% recommended.
I highly recommend1-Fattoush2-Lamps cutlets ( good deal 6 peaces)3- TabboulehNashat was an example of customer serviceFriendly and FastJamal was nice too
I had lunch in the restaurant. They offer you very tasty olives to wait the food.I Chose Kebbe and mansaf. Finally I took sufra speciality with Turkish coffee for dessert. All the food was good, service fast. They also have a very nice garden to enjoy the views.
Very good dining experience. Staff were friendly and helpful in selecting the dishes. C
Nice authentic Restaurant where u can have local food in a lovely old building and nice neighborhood
Tasty food, nice view. But your bill will include "welcome" water and deduct tips without your approval.
This place is amazing! I dont know where to start or when to end! The food served perfectly as per Arabian taste, warm and tasty. Drinks and juices were superb. Desserts are so delicious. The singer equipped with very nice voice and and feels really in Arabian place with the beautiful colors. Definitely recommended for everyone, local, middle Eastern and western 😊
I really loved the food there. I dined alone and had fattoush, hummus and Kubbeh. It was flavourful, fresh and tasty. The restaurant is comfortable, clean and quiet.Too bad the service was so bad. I didnt enjoy the waiters not making me feel welcome, no eye contact, and long wait to get service/get the bill/pay. They felt all over the place although we were just 3 tables in the restaurant.
Okay food for the hype this restaurant receives. I certainly expected much better food but perhaps we just didnt order the "right" ones? We ordered lamb spleen and baked cheese for the appetizer and mansaf (food of the dayand lamb stuffed intestines for the entree. All food had excellent seasoning and the amount and variety of spices really brought out the flavor of the food. However, the lamb in mansaf was little dry and the lamb stuffed intestines had only rice and no lamb in the stuffing. I tried both of these food later on in another place and they were much better there. So the reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 3 is because the service was excellent, ambiance and the decor was stunning. We didnt see any locals here, only tourists.
The best restaurant in Jordan , delicious food so yummy 😋😋
Expensive than other restaurants in Amman but really worth it. The Chef are very good. It was delicious, the place is beautiful and the service is great. You even can see how they make the bread.
Lovely atmosphere with friendly staffs. Food was delicious. It’s one of my favourite restaurant in Amman.
Staff was very helpful and polite. Unfortunately we havent liked the lamb done this way, it could be only personal opinion. Hummus with walnut is great, ice cream with sugar wool was complimentary since we didnt eat the lamb, and if I come back I will order the same desert. Worth a visit!
This is my favorite restaurant in Amman. I go there every time I visit, I love the ambience, the decor, the beautiful greenery and the feel of a old villa combined with the fantastic quality food! I love their fatet jaaj, mansaf and their salads- and all their desserts are delicious! Can’t recommended enough :)
Nice place. I recommend the chicken with potato in a pot it was excellent. It usually requires a prior reservation and the vibe is a bit snobby. The interior is so pretty and authentic to the levant region similar to lebanese restaurants. We set outside and it was also very nice.
Easy reservation and excellent ambiance. Food is not fantastic but it is good. Very friendly customer service. Price can be at the higher end but definitely worth the money. Overall a good experience.
Amazing breakfast on Fri and Sat, all fresh and traditional Jordanian food, in a quaint renovated old villa in a heritage area. So worth it. Amazing service too.Update: visited again today for lunch, had their amazing Mansaf, perfect salt and sour taste combination, just as it should be. The staff were very friendly, helpful and generous! Had a great time, and of course enjoyed their famous green olives that can stand as a meal on their own. Price is on the expensive side, though Good value for money and totally worth it! Tender and succulent meat too, doubt anywhere else can measure up.
Absolutely stunning restaurant. Loved the decor and garden, with beautiful vines growing everywhere. The menu is big and has plenty of options. We had to try a bit of it all but couldnt sadly then finish our main (many should of shared that one). Our special was the modt succulent lamb cooked in yoghurt and decorated with toasted nuts. Literally fell apart on touching. Been craving ever since. Yum yum!Lovely staff and wonderful settings. Recommended and will deffo be coming again.
Food was absolutely delicious and left us great impression and satisfaction . Serving sizes were very generous. The service was a little intermittent though out, with no English speaking servers although it was not enough to detract from the food. Would definitely worthwhile for Jordanian cuisine experience....
