Really shows the history of Africa trough brief but informal language. Would rate 5 but the restroom is not that good.

The National Museum of Sudan in Khartoum is under renovation and it is closed. Most of its collections are back to storerooms.Only the three temples (Buhen, Senna, and Kummasaved from the waters of the high dam and rebuilt in the garden are visible. It is really to hope that the works will bring back to Khartoum one of its major attractions. It was so pleasant to visit it and then to go drinking the exquisite lemonade of the Grand Hotel...

It is closed for refurbishment, but nothing seemed to be happening. We did manage to wake up the security guard who let us walk around the grounds where you can see some of the temples.

Like everything in Khartoum the Museum is totally run down. They have some construction going on. But you can clearly see that the museum is in a quite poor condition anyways. Opening hours on google (like for everything in Sudanare not correct.Status September 2021: dont go there.

the way this museum is designed is essentially made to replicate the past 👌you cross the bridge over the fake river nile that has temples alongside it, as it would have been centuries ago in these kingdoms 🏛️

Learnt a lot about the tribes and people of Sudan as well as their history. I also learnt a lot fascinating things about the pyramids and the similarity in culture with Egypt. Place is affordable and staff are extremely friendly.

This place is a must if you have or plan to visit the pyramids, plus there is a well done exhibition upstairs of Sudans Christian period. It was 10 SDG to get in and I had the place to myself, be sure to walk to the other buildings to the right of the entrance ( as you walk into see more ruins that have been relocated to the museum. Outside in the parking lot there are artists selling oil, watercolour, and coffee paintings...pretty cool and always good to support a local artist.

The museum has artifacts laid out over two floors with some tombs and statues outside covered for rain protection. The museum is quite stuffy - when I went, the fans were not turned on. It’s however a good introduction to the archaeological wonders of Sudan.

Laid out logically from pre-historic. There is very little mention of 20th Century which would have been extremely interesting. Many of the exhibits dont have labels so it is hard to know what you are looking at.

Amazing place to learn about Sudan. One of the underrated countries, living in the shadow of Egypt. They have almost as amazing culture and history as Egypt but little do people know about it. The only issue is with infrastructure and a bit of the airport drama here and there.

Staff can speak English very well. We were there in January, the weather was okay not too hot even in the sun. The main hall of this museum is airconditioned and other buidlings spread out in the area are not but not a problem at all.Ive learned a lot about the root of this country and other African nations. Highly recommended, a lot of interesting information and remaining artifacts.

Archaeological museum - Sudanese antiquities of the Nile Valley. Big collection of artefacts of pre-history, of the ancient Kushite kingdoms starting from XXX BC, and frescos of the Christian times. One of the "must to see" items in Khartoum.Historically, the Museum was founded during famous Nubian Campaign in early 70-ties, making available collection of found artefacts for public. The Kushite / Nubian collection complements the similar collections of British Museum, Boston Museum, Munich Museum, Louvre, and Cairos Museum.

A good place to learn about Sudan. Visitors are allowed to take photos using smartphone, but limited to the ground floor only. For the first floor, no camera allowed. What interesting about the 1st floor is they displayed some historical items and old manuscripts from sudanese Christians period.
